- was shocked how cheap I could make a Fiveguys mock burger, essentially a SMASH burger and so easy as well as super quick.
I used Lidl ingredients, brioche bun is £1.05 for 4. Mince is £2.49 for 500g - I used 125g for 2 patties for one burger and 2 slices of American cheese which in Lidl costs 83p for 15 slices - sooooo an incredible 99p per burger compared to £11.35 (via deliveroo) for one FIVEGUYS cheeseburger.
watch me eat an ACTUAL FiveGUYS 😄

Ingredients:
makes ONE FIVEGUYS FAKEAWAY BURGER
*125g beef mince, split in 2 and rolled into a ball
2 american cheese slices
1 brioche bun, with sesame seeds on top (sesame seed top optional)
Condiments used: dollop of mayo, tomato ketchup and mustard
Additional trimmings: sliced tomato, lettuce, diced onion and sliced gherkin
Cut 4 parchment paper squares and set aside. Have a sheet of foil set aside and have the condiments and cheese ready.
Place a ball of mince between 2 squares of parchment paper. Using a heavy flat item (I used my little frying pan, a chopping board would work as well) press down onto the ball of mince (thats inbetween the paper until flat. Set aside and repeat.
Get the frying pan hot before placing a brioche bun face down to brown (dry frying pan). Set aside and put condiments on if using.
Pop the smashed burger into the frying pan and fry off (season to taste at this point), this is a fairly quick process.
If you have a larger frying pan, cook both patties at the same time.
Place on bun, put layer of american cheese on top.
Place 2nd patty on top of that and place 2nd american cheese on top.
Add tomatoes, lettuce etc if using. Wrap in foil and set aside for a few mins to ensure cheese melts. Enjoy!
*if you wanted to make the patties bigger, just increase mince quantity
Thank you Kerry, had to wipe away the tears before I could watch! you know why! I am so proud that Jackie is working for all those who suffer Prostate Cancer. Loved the video and what a mouthwatering one it was, you manage to always make it look so easy and worth it. Thank you. Ray.
Hello again Kerry. I have been practising with whole roast onions, ( can't leave you to do all the work). My best effort is to make a cross cut about three quarters down from the top, paint with oil/salt, making some goes into the cuts, and then roast at 200C for 20 minutes. Best wishes.
Thank you for this video Kerry, I have made these a few times, in the videos I've watched people making these, they leave them longer before flipping to get a tasty crust, i season with salt, pepper and garlic powder, you can also smash the burger into finely chopped onions for an extra taste layer, 1st comment from long time subscriber
Excellent Kerry glad you have taken up the comparison idea looking forward to the next round xxx
Thank you Julie👋😀💕 I'm looking at duck gyoza at the moment but might substitute duck for pork or beef - a bit cheaper!
I make a similar version for my son but add onions and bacon too, he loves them x
I'm so going 2 try this kerry,looks lush.xx
Looks nice
It was very tasty Jennifer, especially for a quid! 😋😋😋
G'day from Australia! first time watching.
Hi Ben in Australia!👋😀💕🇦🇺
Hi There Dear Kerry , looking Good and money saving That a win Win Win 🏆
Thank you👋😀💕
Deffo making these, looks lovely...fried onions as an extra 😋
Oh yes, I will do fried onions next time as well, thank you Rachel😀👍💕
Will deff give this one a go Kerry 😃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I will again Christine😀👍💕will make sure I've got all the ingredients for all of us😄
🐝thanks for the great video🌻
Thank you😀💕💕
Lovley must try Thank you Kerry
Thank you Janet👋😀💕💕
Oh my goodness Kerry that looks so good,a minute on the lips and a lifetime on the hips but so worth the extra calories 😂😋another enjoyable video flower Xx
Haha this is definitely one to not have too often Ricky🤪😄 I've emailed you Ricky👍👍
I didn’t know what a smashed burger was, I was actually expecting you making something with mashed potatoes 🤣🤣🤣 now I know 😉
Aww thank you Sandra😄👍💕you did make me chuckle
Looks nice, yes you can cook the burger to individual preferences as everyone likes it cooked differently 😊
well worth it
So yummy Poppa
Was going to come on and be critical of this video but you seem really nice. I’ve now subscribed to your channel and I love a burger, good idea about the foil to get the cheese to melt, good job 😂
Hi Brian...welcome to Kerrys channel....she is a sweet wonderful woman n we subscribers love her to bits......so glad you see that too!
Love the look of them Kerry and will definitely be making them as like most people I thinking we just go and buy them but they don’t really taste that nice anymore so making seems a better option.
Thank you Dorinda👋😀💕sorry this is so late!! Xx
Very professional! They looked lovely, Kerry. Sometimes I wonder what it'd be like to sprinkle a little bit of crushed beef Oxo cube into mince. Maybe one day I'll remember to try it.
Thank you Philip, prob would taste fab it's just remembering to do it🤪 I've stopped buying oxo due to cost in lidl, lidl one doesn't crumble like an oxo doh!
Hi kerry, strunch the grease proof paper it'll get rid of the curling making it much easier for you
Ahh top tip Diane thank you😀👍💕
I screw up the parchment paper in my hands and then pull it open to then use it . I find that easier to work with :-)
I will do that next time Laura😀👍💕thank you
I toast the buns in the airfryer
I would microwave the completed burger for 10 seconds before wrapping it in foil. 😉
That's a good idea Jason thank you 😀👍💕
That looked really good and easy. Thanks for doing the fake away comparison! Maybe it's good that you forgot the salt as some people do have salt restricted diets and there is some saltiness in the two slices of cheese..🍔🍔🍔
True re the salt Irene 😀👍💕 I'm so glad I did this, will definitely do again when we fancy a takeaway, save some money lol
Ground chuck is made from fatty beef off the front of the cow. So no sirloin, no rump, etc. Chuck doesn't have brisket, either, so the beef comes from above the chest.
Looked good Kerry Chuck steak in the UK is braising steak and can be made into ground mince so it will be tasty. 🌹🐈Xxxx
Ah thank you Rosa😀👍💕
Hi Kerry. Glad our response helped Jackie and her husband.
Loved this video and I am definitely going to try it. Can I ask where you got your cheese slices from please? I live in a very rural area and most of the local supermarkets don’t stock any of the ingredients. And even shopping on line is restricted by the stock they carry. I could try and use an alternative I guess!!
You could just slice a normal mild cheese thinly and do it the same. X
I’m a veggie, but still watched til the end. I might have a go with quorn mince 🤔🤔. I prefer ‘squished’ burger to smashed, more English 🤣🤣
Ah squished, what a word - I agree!! 👋😀💕thanks for watching til the end as well
Yummy , Kerry that looked tasty. I could have eaten it myself. Hehe I can’t get your vloggs to appear , when you release then , I must find them and watch them all. I did enter the address you sent me also.
Thank you Karen😀👍💕that's odd, are you subscribed still? Sometimes youtube randomly unsubscribes people
For me in NE Tennessee.... Walmart Brioche bun $0.79 each, Walmart American Singles Cheese $0.10 slice x 2, Walmart 80/20 ground beef $1.25 for 1/4 pound then divide that into two patties. My cost is $2.24. Five guys $10.89. Of course tax has to be added to the cost of mine and theirs. We can't get delivery here from them because it would be over 50 miles. But wow a big difference in price> TY for your Fakeaway. Love ya.
That's a good saving Barbara esp given the distance! Love your breakdown, so interesting 👋😀💕💕
I love burgers & chips, I wouldn't say I like American processed cheese, so I use grated mature Cheshire cheese, but today for lunch I had a Half chicken and chips from a local fish & chip shop for only £8.25 an amazing price.
Eight pounds and twenty-five pence…for ONE meal? I have no words…
Evening Kerry,I'm looking forward to this. Oh, Kerry, it needs some fried onions , burgers, not a burger. Without it 😂😂 I'm definitely going to get the lean mince and get these made at the weekend, for watching the football. Thank you, Kerry. Hope you have a lovely evening. Ps sent you a mail xxxx Jacs 💚❤️
I'll def do fried onions next time Jacs😄👍💕 it's always football football football in this house lol. Awww you are so flippin lovely Jacs🥰🥰🥰
@budgetcookinguk I love the smell of onions frying 😋😋😋. Oh, it's the same in here, but it's a biggie this weekend, and it's our team that's playing, so I will definitely be watching it, I'm worse than the lads 🤣🤣. Och, you are very welcome. I sent you delivery details 🥰🥰 xxx Jacs 💚 ❤️
Kerry, are you able to see the Northern lights tonight? Too much cloud cover here in Delaware.
I saw them!! Fulfilled a lifelong dream Donna, am stoked. Still in shock I saw them in Essex! 😄💕💕sorry you missed them, those darn clouds!
Hi Kerry. These burgers look very tasty. How can I expect to lose weight after watching you vlogs? Have you ever done roasted onions in your Ninja? If so, how did they turn out? Keep up the good work.
Oh I'm sorry Tomas!🤪😄💕💕 I've roasted cut up onions with other veg, do you mean roasting whole onions? Love onions
@@budgetcookinguk Yes please, I did mean whole onions. I have found advice for onion rings for burgers, but I would like to include whole roast onions in main meals.
I wouldn't eat it pink though x
Looks tasty!can i ask what %fat mince is that pls?
Not sure what % Kerry uses but 20% fat is usually recommended for making burgers. You can go down to 10% fat if you want a leaner burger but don't go any leaner than.
Thank you Helen😀👍💕it was 25%, lidl budget mince at £2.29 for 500g
Well Kerry that made my mouth water,Lois
Thank you Lois💕💕
sound on this vid is very quiet kerry
Ooo that's odd, thank you Nellie, I've just played it on my telly and it sounded fine. What device are you listening on?
@@budgetcookinguk all ur others have been fine i just found this quiet, im on a laptop using firefox
Its looks quite pink not for me.
Just fry the burgers for longer.
I will definitely cook for a bit longer next time, prob only a matter of seconds to lose the pinkness
That did look delicious ❤
The sound is barely audible!
It seems fine on my telly🤷♀️
@budgetcookinguk audio fine for me too!! I'm doing burgers tonight..a rare red meat treat...I'm going to smash the burgers...Suz likes them seared...yummy!!!
Audio very low.
@11.15 You said delicious before you even took a bite. That's a little misleading.
I'd say more anticipation than misleading tbf, mouth was watering!
Good tip for flattening burgers!
Oh for Petes sake...half the enjoyment of delicious food is smell n anticipation! Xx
Hygiene!!!!! Was going really well until my wife started screaming "Where's the hygiene!" She was right, you touched raw meat then touched everything else......not good! Also that top burger was raw...just slow down a bit! You seem to have rushed every stage of this
Unfortunately you are only here to complain along with your wife.. Just saying DUDE 😈😠😠😠
Hmm, I wonder how Humans got to survive 60 years ago? And 109 or 1000 years ago? Did they shout ‘Hygiene’ every time someone cooked food? Bloody hell no. 😂

People eat beef completely rare and don't get sick so in this case it may not apply but I do wash my hands inbetween for us because I do not like blood in my meat 🙊 or on anything.
