Oh My Guillotines! The first 8 bars just jolted me in disbelief! It's the most amazing rendition I have ever heard in my entire life! I used to study and play this piece and for the life of me, I could never get it right coz no one ever told me that THIS IS HOW MOZART SHOULD BE PLAYED. I know that Landowska had some issues with other pedagogues about pedal use in Mozart's piano pieces but those people were more dogmatic than they were musical.
I could listen to her and Mozart all day.

Someone said you should play Mozart like Chopin. Wanda Landowska makes me understand here what this means. I have never heard such a warm and beautifully sung Mozart before.

Totally agree on that, her rendition is just wonderful, her phrasing, singing, warmth.

Ma ti piace il suo Mozart davvero? Non è un po secco per te? Per me si.

I am so glad to find that a great artist plays the second movement, Andante , the way I feel it, rather slowly. Andante is not a very precise indication of speed, because in Mozart time we don't really know how slow or fast they played it. I have heard much faster versions, but Landowska's one is so expressive and delicate. I love it.

I've never heard her play mozart OR piano. Way different than her full theists throated bach on her 12 cylinder harpsichord. Beautiful and worthy in its own way. I love how she lingers on notes that are important yet never loses th elegance essential to classical expression. We denizens of th 21st century have much to learn from artists like her...

What does: "full theists throated bach on her 12 cylinder harpsichord" mean?

Sloppy swiping! Should have read, "Full throated Bach on her 12 cylinder harpsichord "
She played a metal framed harpsichord with a big tone and expression. 12 cylinder refers to car engines, now adays most are 6 or 8 cylinder. My dad's best friend had a 12 cylinder Packard back in th 1930s...

My favorite Mozart interprete because of natural tempi.

Her take on the 2nd movement is akin to Callas singing Casta Diva. And to think Mozart was still a teenager when he composed this gem.

so stylish..'historic' in the truest sense played in her home in Lakeville CT on the smallest Steinway&Sons Model S.
What a joy to bring this artist again to the needed attention of this lost tradition.

Great historic relict for sure, even though (in my opinion) she has a rather obstinate concept of how to play Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
    Thank you!

She plays it with the same interpretation as I do. I make more mistakes , that is the only difference. I Think Mozart would love the feeling she puts into it. Barenboim is far too mechanical.

Even in Landowska's hands the modern piano is fat and slow for this music, although she makes the best of it with the wrong instrument.

    not a substitute for Barenboim
