I have extremely fine, even thinning hair and the volumizing products that are recommended do NOT weigh the hair down. Most women with fine hair have been using bad products and are accustomed to them not performing as they should. Aveda products are amazing and absolutely deliver. As for the women complaining this takes too much time, you cannot acheive style without a little effort. Hair care isn't magic, it takes a little work and velco rollers are practically fool proof!
Great question - it really depends on your hair texture and length. Just make sure you put the blow-dryer on low heat and allow the hair to cool before removing the rollers. ^ka
I have incredibly thin, fine hair and I love Aveda's pure abundance spray and air control....I usually hate most products, b/c I can't stand the feeling of even slightly sticky or weighed down hair....but these two products are awesome and with me having short hair, I'll probably take at least a year to go through the bottles....worth the price for me!
vgoth100 and it works on your hair fine and thin?? Me, for exemple, I am a blond natural and I have my hair veeeeeeery veeeeeeeeery thin and fine!! :( Can I use Aveda? Is it really natural?
Great question, Cassidy! If you first apply a product to your hair to protect from heat protection you are less likely to damage your hair. A great product would be our Brilliant Damage Control. If you use high speed/high heat you decrease the amount of time in drying your hair; therefore, causing less damage. To further avoid damage, hold the dryer a few inches from the brush and avoid sitting the blow dryer directly on top of the brush. We trust this information is helpful to you. ^ka
sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost my password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
@Holden Maximus i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Great question - our new Pure Abundance Style-Prep can be used (on damp or dry hair) by itself to help detangle, condition and add volume, or in conjuction with other volumizing products for longer lasting volume. Be sure to visit Aveda.com to get yours. ^ed
Her hair IS fine, but she also has quite a lot of hair. My hair is less thick than hers, and would be flat within an hour:P Also, that is quite a lot of product/effort to use for an everyday look.
aveda products are not heavy and are perfect for any hair type so they will not weigh your hair down no matter how much you layer...also the purpose is not to wash your hair everyday (it's unhealthy) especially if you have fine, color/chemically treated hair.
Add your products one by one and ask you stylist how to use what you have at home until in runs out. Shampoo, set, and finish products come in at least 3 parts for best results.
I can't even brush my hair from root to tip when it's wet... b/c truly fine hair tangles like sh*t... so I wouldn't be able to brush anything through my hair until it was dry
Start at the ends of your hair and work your way up with a comb or a brush and you will have no problem with the getting through the tangles next time you go to a hairdresser ask her and she will show you how to do it but you could do it yourself
+Julie Chen You know I Julie agree with you. I was thinking the same thing. All these products all this trouble. I was thinking I just tease my hair just a little bit and then put a little hairspray after I tease and then lightly brush it out and has the same effect. These videos, with all her expensive hair Products. I'm not sold on it and I'll go back to little bit of teasing is spray. Alright take care, Carrie
can there be an easy way to get volume without all these steps??? i have very fine straight hair and i dont wanna do these steps cuz one day schools gonna start again and i dont wanna wake up extra early just to do this ( i like to sleep )
Thanks so much for reaching out with your thoughtful question. Our Consumer Care team would be happy to share product-specific ingredient info with you. Please reach out to consumercare-soc@gcc.aveda.com with your contact info and full details. A member of our Consumer Care team will be in touch.
Thanks fopr your question, Clara. We don't have details to share regarding the velcro rollers, but our team will take this into consideration for future tutorials.
The product she is using is very light , you wouldnt even feel it in your hair it will just make it feel and appear thicker , and with fine hair it actually dries quicker than thicker hair , it should only take 15 min tops !! thats with a good blowdryer
Three products is not a lot, no matter the texture of the hair. All of the products used are very lightweight. One of the most overused MYTHS I hear: "I have fine hair - I can't use that much product!" Fine-haired people aren't doing themselves justice by believing that they can't style their hair from start to finish.
Very nice but not practical for every day. #1 girls with fine hair cannot use that much product and #2 not all girls have time to do the roller step, which is really where the volume comes in
Mine won't have all day volume with this method. :( I need the products, and they just make my silky hair feel dirty after a wash. It's a frustrating thing to have baby fine hair!

I tried these techniques but using the products that I had at home and man it worked! The volume held for 4 days!

Love Aveda!
We love you right back, Lindsay!
what are u talking about her hair is perfect
I don't know why... but i feel like AVEDA want me to buy their products ....
I love Aveda products!!
It's a great way to add some volume onto your hair, but man... it takes timeeeeeeeeeee.
Thank you
If you have longer hair, it works. (: just don't have your layers to long or anything
This cant work for me for everyday 😥 takes too much time and requires too much product.. more than i want in my hair at any given time
aveda products are not heavy and are perfect for any hair type so they will not weigh your hair down no matter how much you layer...also the purpose is not to wash your hair everyday (it's unhealthy) especially if you have fine, color/chemically treated hair.
When you leave the heat on high and speed on high, won't that cause damage to your hair?
❤️❤️❤️

how long do i blow dry the hair with the rollers in and do i take the rollers out right after blow drying? thanks.

@soapjen thanks!
Cant stand too many hair products in my hair. Makes me feel grubby like I want to wash it all out.
Then stop using crappy products
this looks like too much work, too much product, and too much time put in for everyday

Julie Chen my thoughts exactly lol

does it hold in all day?
Which rollers are those please
Thanks fopr your question, Clara. We don't have details to share regarding the velcro rollers, but our team will take this into consideration for future tutorials.
This is way too complicated, and the result is dated looking.
After seven years it is not dated at all...
The product she is using is very light , you wouldnt even feel it in your hair it will just make it feel and appear thicker , and with fine hair it actually dries quicker than thicker hair , it should only take 15 min tops !! thats with a good blowdryer
those rollers get stuck in my hair

@shigureism - Finishing with Aveda Air Control won’t weigh your hair down & lasts all day. Find it online at Aveda.com. ^ed
What are you basing your assumption off of?
sure, it adds volume...but it's a ridiculous amount of time, and product--product makes my face break out :(
what was that at the end
+Adayjah Franklin Hi! What are you referring to? Thanks! ^kn
and that don't really works for long hair
I personally feel that this is way too much heat for fine hair. Remember that fine hair gets more damage much faster than thicker hair.
Very nice but not practical for every day. #1 girls with fine hair cannot use that much product and #2 not all girls have time to do the roller step, which is really where the volume comes in
TOOOO MANY products in my hair.
Excuse me but has anyone seen my cat? He's missing
too much work, I would never be able to do it myself :(
too much work.a big round brush then pin curled till it sets is faster and works the same
lol, why?
way too much heat, Way to much product.
:S so much work? just blow dry your hair upside down.. and some hairspray and done!
Mine won't have all day volume with this method. :( I need the products, and they just make my silky hair feel dirty after a wash. It's a frustrating thing to have baby fine hair!
yeah except my hair is 3 times longer than this girl's... and I'm a broke student, so...
Marcella Wallace first thing if you have fine hair is not to be too long. unfortunately :(
Actually I don't like her hair
and #3 lets face it, your average girl cant afford all these products :(
her hair must feel disgusting ....
