Gabriel is a book reference. In the books a guy named gabriel invents a new type of crossbow and markets it heavily as a weapon to protect yourself with. The crossbow becomes popular among bandits.

For me Lambert showed that despite the situation it is you who are in charge of what you make of it. I mean, Lambert decided to be bitter, while Geralt tries to make the most of it. You can hold grudges till your last moments, but that will only leave you with a sad and bitter life. If you play Geralt as a bitter person, then you end up with losing everyone at the end.

I've noticed something. Remember the Leshen in Skellige the one you either spare or kill. After the ending of the quest a couple of days I went to the place where you do the ritual to spare the Leshen on the cliff near the giant tree where some candles are still on. However I'v noticed each time when I meditate a new predator animal spawns near by and attacks me it may be just random or may be cuz I spared the leshen and he still controls the animals?. So its like I felt my presence was unwelcome.

Gabriel is reference to the book.
After its invention, an aggressive marketing campaign was initiated to sell them with slogans like "Protect yourself!" advertising its use to defend oneself from bandits and brigands. It became so popular that ironically most bandits could be counted on to have one as well, which fueled further sales. One can only assume that Gabriel died quite wealthy (or given Sapkowski's sense of humour, a victim of his own invention!).

I always found it weird that only Lambert gets a generic dialogue option and not a "cutscene" dialogue at Vesemir's funeral because I always had Keira there, but when I saw his reaction when Keira wasn't there a thought came to me that maybe that's not how it's supposed to be and that there might have been a plan to be able to talk to Lambert after the Battle at Kaer Morhen, and it becomes more apparent when we know we also have a dialogue option with Keira about Lambert that you only find through accidentally finding Keira still at the funeral pyre.
Also I always saw the dialogue in Eremas' lab about talking about what Geralt found there with Lamber and Vesemir as "flavor" dialogue but I agree it would have been nice to have dialogue referencing that.

Great video, as always! The Trial of the Cheeses part reminded me of my futile efforts to find any dialogue related to Coën. Neither Lamber, nor Eskel ever talked about him and neither did Ciri even though they had really nice convos in Blood of Elves. There's that Witcher 1 piece at least but I had really hoped Lambert would've had something being the big softy he is on the inside

"Trial of the cheeses" - I Imagine it as banter about hygiene from Vesimir as he is raising a bunch of teenage witchers. As a master witcher, Vesimir would surely have a light step, appearing seemingly out of nowhere to teach or scold them, thus leading to the eager to be independent teenage Geralt and Lambert giving him the nickname of foglet. Just my personal interpretation of Geralt's lines in the 'Trial of the Cheeses quest' and how they fit in the theme of Vesimir raising Geralt and the others as a father.

When I played Witcher 3 and decided that Keira will die, I don't know if my game got bugged, but I literally wasn't able to save Lambert. The Wild Hunt warriors killed him instantly, I didn't even manage to run down to help him. I think this was a coincidence, but it certainly was a wtf moment when Lambert got killed immediately after Vesemir shouts to Geralt to help him.

There is an armourer in Midcopse, that when hawking his wares says "You ain't safe 'less you got a "Gabrielle"! The auto-cranked, one-handed "Gabrielle" ensures you'll get the first shot - and the last word!
Gabrielle being the female form of the name Gabriel.
As others have pointed out, the Gabriel is a fancy new crossbow mentioned in the books.

Yeah hehe :) that was a very nice reference in the video games, that's why I think the CD Projekt video games are THE BEST adaptation of the witcher franchise if they can use even such small references to books :).
"Two turned in Geralt’s direction. The witcher took care of them in a blink of an eye.
A third shot at him with a Gabriel. A miniature crossbow invented and built by Gabriel, a craftsman in Verden. He pioneered the slogan, ‘Protect yourself from banditry and violence’, said the advertisement. ‘The law is helpless and powerless. Protect yourself! Do not leave home without a handy Gabriel brand crossbow. Gabriel is your guardian angel, Gabriel will protect you and your loved ones from bandits,’
The demand had surpassed all expectations and the sale had achieved a true record. Soon all bandits wore a Gabriel when assaulting someone.
Geralt was a witcher and was able to dodge the arrow." Witcher, Tower of the Swallow
It's the little things like that though that truly show how intrinsicaly the games are so seamlessly woven into the book witcher world :).

YEEEEEES Lambert!!! I absolutely love him and his sassy attitude. He would absolutely fit in with my friends. I definitely love how his character shows the darker side of witchers who are claimed via law of surprise. Sure some of them can come out alright like ciri, geralt and eskel but then what about the others? Lambert represents that really well even if his father wasn't abusive in my opinion. Now if only I could find figures of him and eskel I'd be happy. It's a shame those two aren't as loved as geralt and all his girls. Can throw a stick in direction and find their stuff just not eskel and Lambert. Which sucks as I would love to have the whole wolf pack. I'm surprised you didn't talk about him being a bonus a death in the fight against the wild hunt. We can't save vesimir but either we can have keira save him or if you time it right you can have geralt save him which is what I did since I had killed Keira on a play thru. Now I haven't let him die so idk if things are different at the fire pyre or conversations there either
