Iirc correctly the buried woman in that doesn't die, or at least it's ambiguous if you consider the general descent into madness, and she wasn't buried in order to kill her. So I don't think you can track these 2 stories all that closely despite the obvious references.
Poe also has a story where someone was buried alive by being sealed in with a brick wall. Something about a beating heart he always hears after the crime that drives him insane.

It is an old manor and the name of the quest is,"The Fall of the House of Reardon" This is a reference to,"The Fall of the House of Usher" which is an Edgar Allen Poe poem where there is an incestuous relationship in an old manor. Pretty cool

I think the reason the pages are torn out is just to prompt players to look around for the missing pages. This detail is easily missed if you don't look around.
@@birdsamora9925 In other words, the theories people are coming up with to try to explain why the brother wrote his final words on pages ripped out of the diary, are overthinking it. It was more likely just a level design mechanic to tell the player when he/she finds the diary with missing pages "hey, if you look around you'll find the rest of the story".

I've done that quest three times now and have gotten several of the conversation variations but never knew that that Dolores had been thrown out of that home behind her...the devs really thought of everything and so have you.
I think its likely easy to miss, like certain other things that trigger if Geralt gets to close to an area, so most times your likely too busy looking for the notice board and looting crates and such while it happens.

Personally I think the brother had stolen her diary because he was didn’t approve of him and wanted to protect her. The husband (who really was a bad person) realized he found their plans so he knocked him over the head and left him hidden. He then lies to Dolores that he spoke to the brother (unaware pages had been torn from the diary) and that he was unwilling to meet them. They leave - but not until after he’s hidden the “body”. (All she says is he refused to see her before she left so he could easily have said he went out on business in a huff or something)
I always wondered, why there are dead cows in the stables next to dolores bedroom building. If they left willfully and not in a hurry - why leave the cows and not sell them? So maybe this was related to the cut pesta storyline in velen (the plague maiden)? they maybe had to leave to flee the plague? Great video as always!
Well simple answer would be the husband was afraid his wife would notice the strange new wall in the cellar and with her brother's strange disappearance put things together, or was just smart enough to realize his actions might cause the brother to come back as a wraith. That is a weird thing about the Letho path, of why he told Geralt he fought ghouls instead of wraiths, but I guess its possible, there could have been ghouls there that were killed by the wraiths and Letho's actions caused dead peasants not to come back by dealing with the bodies and making them feel avenged. As for why there is more than one wraith there is the simple answer that the peasants were running the farm until the nekkers popped out of the fields and killed a bunch of them, which led the peasants to abandon the farm that was now infested with wraiths and the fields filled with nekkers. . That they left though is also evidence it wasn't the sister, since she could have easily spun a story he left on a trip and the husband, not being as familiar with the house, would have no reason to question the wall.
Maybe the brother was lured to the basement then knocked out and not dragged there. Dolores was preparing to elope and thus won't know if her brother was around. The brother probably tore out the pages from the journal in anger like you said then lured to the basement by the husband for a confrontation.
I see a lot of people never found the basement and the wall. I found that on my first playthrough, but I realized I never found the journal even though I played the game many times. I always had Letho there because I originally spared him in Witcher 2 😀
I love how much there is to this quest, but it's so easy to do it "wrong" and miss a lot of it. In my last save I accidentally killed all the ghosts just by wandering around the map before even talking to Delores, so all the dialogue I got when I did talk to her was oh yeah I took care of that already. No backstory, nothing about prompting him to find the chest.

I think the diary pages may have contained a declaration of love from Dolores to his Brother. So his husband found that, torn it out, knocked the brother out in rage and put him with the pages in the cellar. :)

Awesome video as always ! however, during my last playthrough i noticed that the crops the brother was talking about are those infested with nekkers nests, and surprisingly, the man who was carrying bodies with his cart and who has been saved from ghouls by Geralt lives in the same area. Does this mean that he was working for the Reardon family before the domain fell apart, then He got that new job to live and subsist to the needs of his family ? Would be cool it if is possible to find a link between the two quests.
Your videos ache my heart everytime i think about how CDPR would've shaken the gaming industry IF CyberPunk was done like *The Witcher 3* . They were crowned to be the pioneers to put to death microtransactions, corporate greed and set a new High Bar. They would've still been picking up wallets to this day... but alas! Recently while roaming around the Witcher world I came across a suicide spot inside the eternal fire temple. Also found a poem which led me to an unmarked treasure north of Kaer Gelen. As I've nothing else to do in the game, I've decided to go full explorer mode. Scaled all the peaks of Skellige Isles except Spikeroog. Visited Yen's Djinn ship in the process.

In my usual (non-Letho) playthroughs (PS4) The dialogue in reaction to learning of her brother's death is the same for me *before* the initial quest ends, except the part of her wanting to find the spot where he died.

I had absolutely no idea about the basement. But I've always chosen Letho to be alive whenever I start a new game so never really explored the area much
I've played this game so many times and for so long, so when I started playing it again recently and didn't simulate the witcher 2 save I was surprised about the brother bit. It also helped that I set my witcher sense to also appear in the minimap. I've never done that before.
I really hope you to do a blind, live stream of a Witcher 3 play through (preferably on RUclips) when the next gen edition comes out. Imo, many of us would enjoy chatting and hearing your thoughts throughout. This game is still the best as there is so much content. I can’t wait for new edition 😊

The legend uploads again! Idk if this is common knowledge or not but one thing I found and it was interesting is that if you romance triss,talk to yen about your romance with triss in skellige,then in the ugly baby mission when doing yen's part if you be annoying to yen and take the antagonize options, she'll open a portal and send you flying in kaer morhen, you'll land in the sea and when you go back there's a little piece of unique dialog about it. It was the first time I got it and thought it was worth sharing.
Someone mentioned this and it's a reference to The Fall of the House of Usher where the brother buries his sister alive because she wants to get married. Apparently there was insanity in the family. It ends with the sister escaping and setting the house on fire. If she hadn't been nuts before she was then lol. There's a movie too if anyone is interested. But I never found Letho either even though I let him live....still lately the game seems to be disregarding this save because Baroness La Valette is very cordial and I killed Aryan lol First time I played it she mentions it and walks away. This is during the Broken Flowers Quest.
I didn't even know it was possible to talk to her after completing the secondary mission, I'm going to do that now in my save that I'm replaying the game for the twelfth time after update 4.0 in new game mode+ .
What! Didn't even know about the hidden room!!!!! And the fact that she returns to her brother's remains is amazing!!! Loved Cyberpunk2077, but it's almost unbelievable that the same people who made that game created TW3
I’ve done two playthroughs of this game and I had no clue about the entire basement area and finding her brother’s skeleton. Each time I had Letho alive so maybe it was because of his quests that I never did really investigate around the whole manor
The husband could have indeed be identified by the brother, even if not when the brother was hit from behind. It would be highly unlikely that Dolores would be able to pick up and move her brother to the basement and wall him up.. all before he comes to. But the husband might have been able to get the brother down to the basement by himself. However, there would have been a surprising amount of time to get the wall bricked up, and the brother would have awoken before the wall was complete. Unless the husband had paid someone to help or do the wall for him, he would have been recognized by the brother. Granted, Dolores could have knocked out her brother and then set her husband to block him up. But, unless husband for some reason told the brother that Dolores whacked him; the brother would have assumed that the husband clocked him because the husband was there... blocking him into an alcove coffin. As to why Geralt assumes that the pages are from Dolores' torn journal, it is just a guess on his part. There is no proof given that they were her diary pages. This is Dolores' brother, with whom he lived for decades (we think). It is highly likely he had a journal or notebook too, and would be likely purchased or made at the same place as Dolores' journal. This is circumstantial.
It was the brother who murdered the husband, then placed the pages writen from his perspective on him, so it appears to be the other way around on first glance, since there is no ink vial in the room.
She killed her brother, wrote the notes (acting like her brother)using her journal thinking nobody would ever get their hands on her journal to start with-Just in case his body was ever found, she'd have an alibi.
Yeah I felt like I never got the full picture of that quest either. I tried to investigate it a bit in my last playthrough and found all the things you can find but actually never came back a few days later. Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks something is up here.
I've played the quest 5 times and never found the basement, first time I hear about that :v I can see some inconsistencies though, I think it's due to the fact that the quest has too many variations and 2 major differences that is Letho being there or not, all of it together was probably hard to put into the game without mixing the code and with knowing wich line belonged to which part of the quest.

i personally think this quest is so 'buggy' is because CDPR just wrote in TOO MANY OPTIONS and possible paths for Geralt to take to 'finish' this quest. just look at Letalis' video and you'll see there are: find Letho by accident, find Letho on old lady's quest, find the skeleton and notes first, find the treasure first, find the skeleton after the journal, trigger Letho's traps, don't trigger Letho's traps, Letho is dead in W2, Letho is alive in W2 and MANY MORE! the options were just too many for CDPR to correctly write NEW DIALOGUE correctly for EVERY option!
I purposefully didn't set off any of Letho's traps or enter any of the buildings except the one he was in when I encountered this quest again on my current playthrough. I wanted to see if the traps remained in place when the bad guys showed up but it seems that they don't for some reason. Regardless, I went straight to Dolores to let her know that her problem had been taken care of after I sent Letho to Kaer Morhen. We then had the exchange about me going back to Reardon Manor at some point to find her chest so I decided to do this immediately and I also didn't use fast travel in favour of riding on Roach to get there instead. Dolores, to my astonishment, was already there as I could hear her sweeping inside one of the buildings. The interesting thing is that I had to use Aard to break down her door(it was highlighted in red using Witcher Senses like the other doors before you encounter Letho) before I could see her. I felt terrible, as I just made more mess for her to tidy up, but I guess she was just happy to be there again. 😅

Adding to the mystery: In many playthroughs, the missing pages are bugged and only show blank. Seems like the quest got rushed a bit in production.

yep, Cyberpunk has nowhere near the depth that Witcher has. It had all the potential, here's hoping they give us some DLCs that make up for it.

Idk if this is common knowledge or not but one thing I found and it was interesting is that if you romance triss,talk to yen about your romance with triss in skellige,then in the ugly baby mission when doing yen's part if you be annoying to yen and take the antagonize options, she'll open a portal and send you flying in kaer morhen, you'll land in the sea and when you go back there's a little piece of unique dialog about it.
It was the first time I got it and thought it was worth sharing.
Oh that is quite old knowledge which I'm sure some are unaware about

Never found the brother in the basement before. Letho was always there in my playthroughs and never bothered to go back and search the place

Honestly after finding and finishing Lethos quest i just finished the quest and never went back

Someone mentioned this and it's a reference to The Fall of the House of Usher where the brother buries his sister alive because she wants to get married. Apparently there was insanity in the family. It ends with the sister escaping and setting the house on fire. If she hadn't been nuts before she was then lol. There's a movie too if anyone is interested. But I never found Letho either even though I let him live....still lately the game seems to be disregarding this save because Baroness La Valette is very cordial and I killed Aryan lol First time I played it she mentions it and walks away. This is during the Broken Flowers Quest.
I didn't even know it was possible to talk to her after completing the secondary mission, I'm going to do that now in my save that I'm replaying the game for the twelfth time after update 4.0 in new game mode+ .
Do you know that if you take off your shooes in trisses apartment the landlords are kinder and don't talk about bringing in mud

I’ve done two playthroughs of this game and I had no clue about the entire basement area and finding her brother’s skeleton. Each time I had Letho alive so maybe it was because of his quests that I never did really investigate around the whole manor

The husband could have indeed be identified by the brother, even if not when the brother was hit from behind. It would be highly unlikely that Dolores would be able to pick up and move her brother to the basement and wall him up.. all before he comes to. But the husband might have been able to get the brother down to the basement by himself. However, there would have been a surprising amount of time to get the wall bricked up, and the brother would have awoken before the wall was complete. Unless the husband had paid someone to help or do the wall for him, he would have been recognized by the brother.
Granted, Dolores could have knocked out her brother and then set her husband to block him up. But, unless husband for some reason told the brother that Dolores whacked him; the brother would have assumed that the husband clocked him because the husband was there... blocking him into an alcove coffin.
As to why Geralt assumes that the pages are from Dolores' torn journal, it is just a guess on his part. There is no proof given that they were her diary pages. This is Dolores' brother, with whom he lived for decades (we think). It is highly likely he had a journal or notebook too, and would be likely purchased or made at the same place as Dolores' journal. This is circumstantial.

It was the brother who murdered the husband, then placed the pages writen from his perspective on him, so it appears to be the other way around on first glance, since there is no ink vial in the room.
I didn't know that you could find her dead brother, I always just found the treasure and that was it

She killed her brother, wrote the notes (acting like her brother)using her journal thinking nobody would ever get their hands on her journal to start with-Just in case his body was ever found, she'd have an alibi.

Yeah I felt like I never got the full picture of that quest either. I tried to investigate it a bit in my last playthrough and found all the things you can find but actually never came back a few days later.

There's a basement? If neither the ghost contract nor the Letho quests send you directly there, I think I've missed that. On 3 playthroughs...

I've played the quest 5 times and never found the basement, first time I hear about that :v
I can see some inconsistencies though, I think it's due to the fact that the quest has too many variations and 2 major differences that is Letho being there or not, all of it together was probably hard to put into the game without mixing the code and with knowing wich line belonged to which part of the quest.
I thought it's quite common

Just saw this video.......just a day after I found Dolores's brother after finishing the quest.
i personally think this quest is so 'buggy' is because CDPR just wrote in TOO MANY OPTIONS and possible paths for Geralt to take to 'finish' this quest. just look at Letalis' video and you'll see there are:
find Letho by accident, find Letho on old lady's quest, find the skeleton and notes first, find the treasure first, find the skeleton after the journal, trigger Letho's traps, don't trigger Letho's traps, Letho is dead in W2, Letho is alive in W2 and MANY MORE!
the options were just too many for CDPR to correctly write NEW DIALOGUE correctly for EVERY option!
that woman seemed so innocent before i watched this.
I purposefully didn't set off any of Letho's traps or enter any of the buildings except the one he was in when I encountered this quest again on my current playthrough. I wanted to see if the traps remained in place when the bad guys showed up but it seems that they don't for some reason. Regardless, I went straight to Dolores to let her know that her problem had been taken care of after I sent Letho to Kaer Morhen. We then had the exchange about me going back to Reardon Manor at some point to find her chest so I decided to do this immediately and I also didn't use fast travel in favour of riding on Roach to get there instead. Dolores, to my astonishment, was already there as I could hear her sweeping inside one of the buildings. The interesting thing is that I had to use Aard to break down her door(it was highlighted in red using Witcher Senses like the other doors before you encounter Letho) before I could see her. I felt terrible, as I just made more mess for her to tidy up, but I guess she was just happy to be there again. 😅
