On the the line of salt, its actually in the quest where you defeat the elemental in the cellar from earlier in the video. It's on the stairs leading to cellar from the ground floor. Geralt remarks how it's 'pointless superstition' (or something to that effect). He would probably tell the baron to do it too because people obviously believe it and it would keep people out of the way for the duration of the quest.
Also for the price setting in the contracts, it's randomised, it might be chance he allowed you to push for a higher price on your Griffin try, but to be honest I haven't tested

It might make sense that the line of salt would be useless against physical monsters, mostly affecting wraiths. Geralt having prior information about the monster, he might’ve known that it couldn’t’ve been a wraith, thus the comment.

But in " Equine Phantom" alternate ending Geralt also advice hermit to draw a line of salt, saying "Might keep him out". So it may work - just for a specific type of ghost.

@@FrozenShadow007 except he comments that it's "pointless superstition" based on the house's owners point of view, being uninformed about the specific monster, to the owner it might have been a ghost, it just doesn't make sense (at least not the way geralt phrases it) to call it that knowing there are cases that this works. Also by the time this comment happens, geralt has absolutely no idea that it's an elemental.

Did you know that if you choose to kill the dopler instead of sparing him, he will chase you forever. Even if you go all the way across the map. Sometimes he gets killed by guards because some of them will fight him on his way out of the city. You can fast travel far away and he will still chase you. You can see the quest distance going down constantly. If you go skellige, he will wait for you to get back to velen/novigrad and then start the chase again. Oh that is a nice detail!! I never knew that about Yontek :). His portrayal is also a typical 'village idiot' that often appears in various rural stories and the like, fairy tales as well, and with the witcher lore on the subject of these mentally affected children with inherited power it fits very well!! Indeed it might explain his state and as was said source children when not taken care of with their magical talents may become unstable mentally, his abilities maybe were not nearly as strong and so he was overlooked by the mages and considering that such abilities may also pass down the line generations later. In the lore we have apparently many degrees of magical talent, some people may have the minimum of abilities, some don't have them at all.

    • @efaristi9737
      @efaristi9737 2 года назад +1

Not every magician are sources, a attunement to magic is necessary to become one but a source has more than that. Every witchers have a attunement to magic because the Signs require a aptitude with it so they can work. A ordinary human with no magic affinity would be unable to make any signs.
Yontek don't need to be a mage student: the childrens of wizards often inherite a more potent affinity with magic than their parents and that power is what fry their brains. Yontek is lucky, he isn't a vegetable.

I've always took Geralt's line of salt demand in the Baron's quest as an example of Granny Weatherwax's headology - it's not supposed to work on wraiths or botchlings, it's supposed to work on humans and keep them in their houses. If you just tell them to stay at home they may ignore that order, but with the salt - oh, now it's serious business. And Yontek is almost certainly an untrained sorcerer/mage, probably a child of a magic user. It's not known if Tissaia's ideas were ever implemented - I think they weren't because during the Lodge summit in the books they use the age argument against putting one of the members of the Lodge on Kovir's throne, not that they are all infertile due to sterilization.

It is quite possible the "Line of salt" thing only works against specific creatures. Same way bringing Black Blood to anything but a vampire fight is pointless. It could even be to limit the movement of the Botchling - the creature might have tried to run away and hide in a house, by breaking through the doors. But might be deterred by a line of salt and windows height. Maybe Botchlings just _really_ hate the smell of salt? Or at least the young ones?
But it being usefull to keep the people inside (and thus out of the combat zone) is also a good approach.

To confirm or deny, one would probably need to haggle with the Count for a 100xTimes or so choosing each of the 3 Answers (Wolf, Cat, Griffin) and see how often you can get the higher reward or how it changes.

The quest was named "Doors Slamming Shut" it's weird that you didn't remember because in this video you mention the exact quest.
And yes, there is a contradiction. In the main Baron quest Geralt says to make a line of salt and in the side quest he says it is useless.

If you ever do the Witcher 2 save import video, a crazy detail I found was during "Of Swords and Dumplings" when you have to get into the warehouse to mark the crates. If you chose Iorveth in Witcher 2 and helped in Vergen, the dwarf guarding the warehouse will just let you in if you pick the "Gotta get inside." option and he'll compliment Geralt on his work in Vergen.

Molly, the general, and the lady have two different comments about her at the races. It is depending on how you do the horse race. If you win or lose the race the Lady calls her a frumpy girl and if you refuse the race the general calls her good looking or pretty. I found it odd that they differed on opinion over the horse race.

Fantastic video xLetalis! I do have a fun little detail that I discovered a bit ago that I believe you haven't covered yet: during the contract in Skellige where where the monsters try to crush you with a rock (and where you get the nekker boots). When talking to the Doppler in the village about your reward - you can ask for as much coin as possible and he won't get annoyed, I imagine this is because they're trying to kill you and will promise any amount of coin to get you to take the contract. Thanks for all the amazing content over the years :D

Hey! I found a small small detail in this game and I am so proud of it:D While you are doing the Tufo Monster contract in the blood and wine as you know we find out that the woman(wife of the contract giver) was having a relationship with one of their workers. If you tell this to the quest giver man(I don't know how to call him actually:) He will get angry and say to you that he will speak with his wife about that. If you really follow him to his house, they actually start arguing. Man tells his wife to leave and woman cries and etc. Also after this conversation she goes to crying in front of a small lebioda statue. It just blew my mind that this game has such details like that! Maybe you can mention it one of your videos. Also get well soon :)

I remember a rare dialog line you may want to use. If you start the cave of dreams quest by going to the boat and negotiating a reward but instead of going on the boat you start the Stranger In A Strange Land quest. Then after imprisonment you are forced by Lugos to do the quest. (As usual). After the cave you will get your reward, but they are disappointed that you haggled a reward despite being forced to do the quest. I don't really remember it because it was a long time ago.

A theory: It's about Dead Man's Party quest from Hearts of stone. I believe the couple who is getting married made a deal with GOD just like the one Olgierd made to marry Iris. Like when Geralt( Vlodmir) is being introduced to the couple they mention how the groom is well off and the bride comes from a humble background, due to which she had to leave the university before completing her studies. The groom also mentions that it was difficult to convince his mother to their 'misalliance'. In that conversation, it is also implied that the bride is somewhat out of his league when Vlodmir being a straight shooter asks her why being a beauty she chose him lol. And lastly, GOD himself tells Geralt that they needn't end like the newlyweds as in they are "bound by a contract they cannot escape". What do you think?

    • @xLetalis
      @xLetalis  2 года назад

Hmm, I did notice some of these parallels but ultimately didn't think they were literally in a contract with GoD. It does seem like both of them are getting something out of the relationship.

With the bandits, I think I've almost always run into them because that's one of the only bridges that doesn't require a pass to get across the pontar into Novigrad and I hated having to wait around for one. I must've just used that bridge again later because I still didn't have a bridge pass for the guards.

    • @stefankatsarov5806

That bridge dosnt cross the Pontar. There is only 2 bidges that cross it, the one at Oxenford and the one south of Novigrad. This bridgr is south-west of Oxenford and there are 2 other bridges on the same river.
Also you always need a pass to cross the Pontar, but if you get a pass and go past one bridge you dont get asked for a pass in the other bridge.

Don’t know if you’ve found it or not, but I recently noticed something rather interesting in a quest called Spook Mare (which you can take by talking to a peasant east of Oxenfurt). So by the end of that quest, Geralt will be met with two choices: kill all the elves and take the horse back to its owner, or leave the horse there for those elves. If the player chooses the latter option, Geralt and the elves will be at peace, but if you just go in and try to ride one of the 4 horses available, the elves will attack Geralt. Also, before talking to the Scoia’tael elves for the first time, if Geralts just jumps directly into riding one of the horses, these elves will also become hostile

regarding the botchling quest, i think geralt may still sway the baron to put lines of salt outside peoples doors regardless of his beliefs or if it were a common practice in blood summoning among witcher training, so my thoughts would be despite his beliefs of drawing salt works or not he probably told the baron to do so because of necessity or he could end up changing his mind after the botchling quest or it could be an oversight by the dev team

On an island in Skellige between the abbandond village of Redgill and Lofoten, there is a ship wreck and a note, which upon reading starts a quest. It leads you back to the village Ursten, where you find a foreigner trying to convince you to find a women. After you found the second wreck you follow some steps and chase a women to the Widows' Grotto, where the men from Ursten will appear.

One thing I actually prefer about playing the witcher game in Polish sometimes is because there are certain translations that dont go over as well. For example, the "Wild Ones" are actually called the 'Dziki" Which would yes translate to Wild/savages HOWEVER, they said their name represents their crest which in fact does because Dzik (or plural Dziki) is Boar in Polish. I still speak English better but Polish was extremely enjoyable as well.

21:25 There's two Witchers (that we know of) it could be. One is Berengar like you said, the other is Barmin (he's mentioned as the grandmaster before Vesemir by Geralt during the snowball fight). Barmin sounds closer but Berengar makes more sense as Barmin most likely died long before the Witcher 3. There's also Bartel of Hengsfor, but he died in the trial of the grasses unless the note we find in game is wrong

as for the salt line - in the case of the task at the baron, Geralt said it mainly so that people would not leave their houses, and that monster was walking on the ground and had no skin, so salt had an effect on him, and the case where he said it was not true is from the task you showed at 12:05
In that quest, it was about ghosts that are not affected by salt, and it is an erroneous affirmation repeated among peasants.
P.S. I think that in Polish this mission was more understandable, or it was just my Polish soul that understood the behavior of a "specialist" Geralt

I found a small detail with the Hearts of Stone expansion which relates to the Open Sesame quest, specifically which safecracker you can choose.
I went straight to Quinto, bargained for him and then immediately accepted him for the job, I did this without even contemplating Casimir. Considering that Eveline's location is somewhat close to where Casimir lives (Alness) I went to have a look to see if you could interact with him and sure enough you could, well kind of.
His hut was blown to pieces and a few villagers stood around it, I guess he couldn't hack it.
Its another really small really cool detail from CDPR which makes the world feel alive and lived in.
