      Well, mustaine was really pissed.
      Especially, when he heard his stuff on Kill 'em all.
      So, i guess dave started the metallica vs megadeth thing, since he wanted megadeth to be better than metallica.

      Mustaine solos are cool as fuck . State of mercury touched on it a few times on this video that not perfect is refreshing and he kinda liked it and that's Def from listening to Kirks wah and various effects that makes his sound overly clean and hides any and all tiny mistakes .
      It's like a kids fav candy being grape laffy taffy and when they try an actual grape they spit it out . Kirk sounds artificial . he's a barely a step above a glam metal guitarist .

    Definitely check out the rest of Peace Sells! The sound quality on the first 3 albums (Killing is my Business, Peace Sells, So Far So Good So What) is definitely lower than Metallica, but the songwriting is insane. However, go listen to Rust in Peace, that's the first album featuring a new drummer and lead guitarist, Nick Menza and Marty Friedman respectively. Holy Wars, Hangar 18, and Five Magics are three high points I'd check from that album. RIP and all of their following albums have a HUGE upgrade to sound quality. Rust in Peace probably has the best "quintessential thrash" sound of any album out there, and all of their albums after that have close to "Black Album" sound quality and fullness. Huge drums, the bass cuts through the mix very very well, and the guitar tones are unmatched on RIP. Just hearing those guitars puts you in a whole different mindset.

    • @thomasharding5598
      @thomasharding5598 2 года назад

      Actually SFSGSW had a different drummer and guitarist too, they were only there for that album before Dave chucked them out XD
      You're right about Holy Wars, Hangar 18 and Five Magics though. Phenomenal tracks.

    • @Ghostweaver
      @Ghostweaver 2 года назад

      @@thomasharding5598 Yeah I know about the SFSGSW guys, I guess I could edit my wording but I just meant that RIP debuted their longstanding super popular lineup. I actually love SFSGSW, but I really don't care for Jeff Young's solos, they sound like those Kerry King solos from Slayer that are just... noise. And Chuck was the polar opposite of Gar Samuelson on drums, Dave specifically told him he was tired of all the jazzy stuff Gar did and just wanted someone who would keep a steady, simple beat. And he did. I mean, the first song is just a huge double kick instrumental shredfest. Nick Menza hit the best middle point on drums in my opinion of still being jazzy as hell sometimes, but being rock solid all the time. Songs like Mary Jane, Hook in Mouth, Liar, and obviously In My Darkest Hour are some of my all time favorite Megadeth songs. But, the album doesn't have the sound quality of any of the albums that came after. I don't know what happened, maybe it was just Dave getting sober, but everything after So Far So Good has insane sound quality. I think Youthanasia might even be mastered better than the Black Album, which has legendary quality as we know.

    For me, I view alternate picking as using both down and upstrokes for parts that could be played all downstrokes. This would include stuff like the riffs in tornado of souls. Tremolo picking is for stuff that's too fast to downstroke all the way through. While there isn't technically a difference, this definition makes it clearer for me. If I say something is done with alternate picking, it's more about the technique used for the riff. If I say tremolo picking, that puts more emphasis on the speed of the riff.
    Also, I'd recommend Rust in Peace... Polaris. It's pretty similar to this song but without the clean intro.

    Megadeth's biggest records came between 1986 and 1997... but the debut "Killing is my business... and business is good" from 1985 is a very raw, technical thrash metal album that made up for lack of production value w/ killer songs. But they had so much variety over years of making Megadeth records... even on the 'Risk' album in 1999, there r still admirable moments... 'Breadline' was a song about homelessness... "Time: the beginning" starts slow and ends w/ "Time: the end" which is heavier.
    The more obscure Megadeth classics I recommend: "The Conjuring" ... "Hook in mouth" ... "Looking down the cross" ... "Devil's island" ... "Into the lungs of hell" (instrumental) ... 'Lucretia' ... "Tornado of souls" ... "Ashes in your mouth" ... 'Youthanasia' ... 'She-wolf' ... '502'... 'Moto psycho'...🤘🤘🔥🔥
