3:20 this has to be some Picasso level art. She gives you the glass and it looks like a normal sized glass then when you grab it your mind instantly turns it into a mini glass haha
The fish and chip place we grew up going to (town in Ontario Canada) used actual newspaper. It’s the only place I’ve known that uses real newspaper. Been to other decent places but they use food wrap printed like newspaper. ITS NOT THE SAME. Hobgoblin looks like the pubs we go to here. And I’m a cider girl. My friend also loves cider. It’s big here in Ontario. We have a bunch of craft breweries that do cider and there’s craft cider brewers. One in Toronto is very good, brickworks. My grandfathers English breakfast growing up (in England in the country in a small village) had the egg, tomato and the toast fried in the bacon grease. Which sounds like the greatest thing ever.
@@JunkFoodJapan It's definitely the taste of home. My son moved to New England from the UK, and he's got a stash of proper baked beans for his fry ups. Hasn't found anywhere doing Sunday roasts in CT, though they do have a local chippy that's not too bad. So he does his English breakfasts and Sunday dinners at home from scratch (aside from the beans!).
OH MY GOD the Hobgoblin is still going!!! Remember visiting in...2006 and chatting with the landlord Wychwood literally parachuted in from a pub in the UK to manage the place. Loved the place!
Wychwoods are amazing. Hobgoblin is their most famous but they have an incredible variety of other drinks. I visited their brewery back when I used to be a pub landlord in the 90’s
At least you get Sarsons vinegar!! Can't get that where I am in Southern Europe 😭😭 I actually brought two bottles back with me when I went back home to the UK for a visit in July 😆
You'd think that, in a country like Japan, they'd be able to get Fish and chips right every time. They've got great fish, they know a thing or two about deep-frying thing in batter, and the potatoes are quite nice too! But I guess that you can find bad places anywhere. At the very least the food in the last two places looked quite delicious! I shudder to think how much effort it must have been to burn all those calories, though, hahaha.
Just from the vibe of the drinks menu being 4x the size of the food menu and the fact that it came out so fast, you just know they don't actually want to serve food there lmao. For all we know the cook only works the early shift and they just keep the food under heat lamps or in the microwave until some unknowing poor soul orders it.
Wow, you two really make a great dynamic duo. This was a very enjoyable video. You got me chuckling and kept my attention which is a feat. The exchange was perfect and now I want battered cod and a pint of cider. Isn't it a thing though? The foreigner being invited to karaoke? I remember asking for directions and this group of men both gave me the directions and extended an invitation to karaoke at some private bar. First time I ever tasted champagne. I still got that one guy's business card. Been wondering if I was supposed to keep in touch.

My grandfathers English breakfast growing up (in England in the country in a small village) had the egg, tomato and the toast fried in the bacon grease. Which sounds like the greatest thing ever.
I guess it’s also the emotional attachment to the dish that makes it more appealing. Chris absolutely loved it
@@JunkFoodJapan It's definitely the taste of home.
Val, it was a sad day when they banned newspaper from fish and chips in the UK. It really isn't the same without it.
That’s creative !
Just discovered this channel and I'm glad I did you definitely earned a new subscriber
Welcome aboard TOMODACHI
I'm glad Nick collaborates with smaller RUclipsrs like Mr. Affable Man
Right. You gotta take the next generation under your wing
I came here from a video about Andy Hug 😂 Love Chris and Nick, what a fighter! Absolutely legandary combo
The legendary boxing combo is back!
And smashing it !
OH MY GOD the Hobgoblin is still going!!! Remember visiting in...2006 and chatting with the landlord Wychwood literally parachuted in from a pub in the UK to manage the place. Loved the place!
Yeah that place will last forever unless they tear down the building !
Wychwoods are amazing. Hobgoblin is their most famous but they have an incredible variety of other drinks. I visited their brewery back when I used to be a pub landlord in the 90’s
That Sunday roast with Yorkshire pudding looked freakin delicious. I got super hungry watching that last third of this video. XD
So does anyone know the Abroad in Japan book in audible is coming to America anytime soon? I can’t wait to listen
Chris is in the UK right now, he's got to record the audio version in the next week or so. So it shouldn't be too long.
Never seen your channel before, i clicked thinking it was an abroad in japan video, but this is great, you got a subscriber for life.
BooooM and welcome to the channel TOMODACHI
At least you get Sarsons vinegar!! Can't get that where I am in Southern Europe 😭😭 I actually brought two bottles back with me when I went back home to the UK for a visit in July 😆
How many Sit Ups is that Chris? That was a heck of a lot of food! Glad to see to handsome blokes having such a good time! 😁 👍
It was a good night out for sure
I laugh so hard when you said "Guacamole right?" 😂
had no idea what it was... LOL
bro you can tell Chris is in heaven with that full english by just how little he talks while eating it
😂
You'd think that, in a country like Japan, they'd be able to get Fish and chips right every time. They've got great fish, they know a thing or two about deep-frying thing in batter, and the potatoes are quite nice too! But I guess that you can find bad places anywhere. At the very least the food in the last two places looked quite delicious!
I shudder to think how much effort it must have been to burn all those calories, though, hahaha.
You're right but they'd be working in a tempura restaurant instead of a fish n chips shop.
The real real secret to GOOD Fish and Chips is that it has to be fried in Beef Dripping
@@markylon Too right!
Is that real? It sounds awesome
I am sure he will be happy to hear from you! Try sending him a email
@@JunkFoodJapan Maybe I will before I visit again! it's been a long time, though.
They dont wrap fish and chips in newspaper nowadays since it isnt exactly paper and the inks are quite toxic nowadays.
ALWAYS amazing when some of my favorite Japanese content creators get together! So cool to see you just hang with your friends! ARIGATO TOMODACHI!!! 🙌🏻🙏🏻
Thank you TOMODACHI it’s just fun hanging out with Dr. Chris and a camera
When it comes to cider, my favorites are Bulmers and Thatchers.
Love this video! Thanks for making it guys
Ordering a liter of beer at lunchtime, the Danishness is showing.
SKAAAL
SKÅÅÅL!@@JunkFoodJapan
There was an Irish bar in Shinjuku last time I was there that did pretty good fish n chips and Guinness.
Been to the hobgoblin some days ago, its quite expensive but you can have a good time and me expats and so on. So i recommend!
THANK GOD!!!,At least an english person testing english food abroad.
I been waiting for this all my life.
May i suggest when you go back in UK go and try famous english SUSHI.
Absolutely ! Did you see my episode from London ?
@JunkFoodJapan i can"t wait!!!.
As an retired chef there"s nothing better than looking videos of english people eating english food all over the World and viceversa(eating food from all over the World in UK).
All very logical and reasonable.
Im from Northumberland now living in Australia, my wife is from yokohama. I mentioned malins to her, but we haven't been it would seem weird eating fish and chip's in Japan. Maybe next visit.
First time watching this channel. I'm sold.
And you are welcome here TOMODACHI
I was like isn't that his wife in the first shot? Must be fun watching these lads make a video.
LoL 😂 she just wanted to tag along
Yeah it’s hilarious !😅
I never knew I needed a foodie RUclips channel hosted by the Blue Eyed Samurai. Thank you RUclips gods for putting this in my feed :D
You had me at Blue Eyed Samurai TOMODACHI
Asphalt cider, that explains the state of our roads😂😂
I love how your wife is reading the Abroad in Japan in the background.
clever product placement with an incredible extra
Be interesting if you come to the UK to not only try fish and chips here but to try the frozen cook it at home fish and chips to see if even that is better than the Hub.
All 3 stores within the Roppongi Area.
There's only 2 Hubs around there now. The one in this video, and the on in Kamiyacho station. The other hub in Roppongi closed back in 2020.
Good video mate.
Looking forward to the next one.
