Hahaha, this is so true. As an INFJ I often have brilliant intuitive ideas, but I don't necessarily enjoy the effort of putting them into place and doing the hard work. It can be a good trade-off though, and I'm starting to actually appreciate teamwork more. It's great if everyone can focus on their area of strength

As an ESTP, I love INFJs!! They’re very interesting, although sometimes it’s hard to talk to them because I get the impression they’re a bit intimidated by me, or at least want me to carry the conversation haha. INFJs, we want to listen to you! I promise I don’t love the sound of my own voice. A lot of my friends have been INFJs growing up and they were all very timid and went along with what everyone else wanted to do, I think I’ve spent my whole life trying to push these people into speaking their own opinion instead of being a pushover 💀 All in all, they’re very fun to talk to, and self reflect with, because they think deeply about life and move through it at a slow and steady pace with caution and patience.

I have a funny story for u. I'm an infj and i was on a trip with this couple, an estp guy and his SO. He was super drunk and we were chilling in the sea on a beach. He said idk how to have fun but he can tell by my face or something that deep within I'm eager to have new experiences.
Then as a dare, he took me on top of a rocky that was fairly tall near the ocean and gave me his hand to jump together in the water. I, purely out of rebelliousness to "prove a point" that yea I want to have fun...was just about to jump with him when a WHOLE SHIP OF PEOPLE yelled at us from afar to not do it the water is shallow. We might have actually broken our asses in the middle of a beach that day if they hadn't stopped us💀💀💀💀

'They're trying to manifest things in reality that aren't there yet'
Wow, just wow, it's so accurate in my case it's almost scary! I'm an INFJ and I became the first professional stunt scooter rider in my country. Later this sport exploded in popularity and got flooded by Se-dom types. It wasn't easy to accept that those guys are just naturally better at things you spent your whole life practicing, but once I embraced my role as a mentor, coach, judge, advisor, etc (more typical INFJ-ish stuff) I was able to find inner peace and continue doing what I love. ESTPs certainly help me to get out of my introverted loops, have some fun and actually implement important stuff. And honestly, I feel more comfortable while putting them in the spotlight, than being the center of everyone's attention myself. We make a great team together!

(I want to clarify, this is not a abt being wise or sage, since it often gets mixed with ego and I suggest where nobody ask, or give too much space to ideas that are just not worthy. Or the opposite, I close someone with the premise of "there's nothing to learn", without realizing there was)

INFJ - INTJ - precisely the relations between my friend and me. I find him too cautious, too caring about his image in other people's eyes and too indecisive because of that. My friend finds me tactless, valueless, sometimes violent about other people's feelings (well, after 9 years of our friendship he has already ceased to be surprised by my behaviour and attitude towards people). Though I don't know whether he ever considered a question of me using other people. It's kind of interesting for me, but at the same time dangerous to ask him about.

That is interesting, I an INTJ have been married to an INFJ for 7 years now and though I would say that is they way I saw her 7 years ago I now can no longer deny that my communication model is greatly lacking without implementing her sensitivity. Observing her has thought me that if my intent is to change someones mind and due to a lack of sensitivity I have invoked a negative response then I have failed to communicate effectively.
In the same breath I would say her ability to stand up for herself and not compromise has grown much over the years by observing me.
I guess in friendship differences of view like this is often fun while in marriage it is difficult to not adopt the others views over time.

Friend, though being kind, thoughtful, empathic as a proper INFJ, only sits at home 24/7; me, being a manipulator, schemer and generator of too-out-there ideas as a proper INTJ, refuse to cooperate with people and try to rely onto and get into account myself only.

Thank you, Nathan. As an INFJ, your point about INFJs not wanting to be INFJs resonates with me. I find myself envying other types, although I'm probably romanticizing them. I also often wonder whether INFJs really do have their so-called visions.
In my case, more specifically, I envy the NTs in particular. The NTPs, especially INTP, because of their alleged aptitude for analyzing and evaluating systems. The NTJs, especially the INTJ, because of their alleged aptitude for strategizing and realizing visions.
Why do I envy the NTs? Personally, I have this truly inexplicable desire (1) to understand the conceptual systems that define our reality and (2) to change these systems -- to construct and realize new ones. I guess I see the NTPs as especially capable of the former and NTJs as especially capable of the latter. That is, at least in theory.
I envy STs as well! I imagine them being less conceptual and theoretical and more empirical and practical in their approach. But perhaps this makes them better at seeing reality for what it is, even better than NTs in some respect. Thus, perhaps this means that they are better at formulating more concrete plans of action based on systematic research of empirical data (the STJs) -- or they . . . act, based on their near-instinctual, but often brutally spot-on, assessment of a given situation, and actually make something happen in the present (STPs).
I'm a hopeless philosophy student, though, so I guess I envy NTs more because I have an admiration for old and new conceptual systems -- whatever that means.
By contrast, as an INFJ, -- although maybe it's just me -- I often feel like my head is submerged under water, wherein voices echo around me, sometimes voices that I cannot even identify, and they pull me down, weigh on me, and cause me to doubt myself, if I try to move one way as opposed to another. So I remain submerged. Head murky. Though my ears buzz, I rarely voice anything.
All this to say: although I have this inexplicable desire to understand reality and to change it, I don't understand how to pursue this desire, or -- even -- why this desire is even worth pursuing, because I listen to, and let myself be influenced by, too many voices.
I often wonder: when will I have this *INFJ vision*? When will I rise and see a clear horizon, a sun?
I feel like a submarine most of the time, anchored to the sea floor. Bubbling

But our different tools - Fe and Te - clashed, because they value such different things. I felt immensely known, and also immensely misunderstood at the same time. It was very strange. I'm curious if others of this pairing have fared better.
And yes - I had an ESTJ professor for several classes, and that's exactly what she did to me. I make a ton of work in her class, but without the time to reflect and ponder the significance of it to my overall vision, most of it ended up going nowhere. Made like a year of empty work, essentially. And got terribly drained as a result. But I do know how to manage my time effectively now because of her.

  • @PriHL

    Everything here is so true!
Except, I don't admire ESTPs but that's possibly down to the fact that the ones I met were unsophisticated (to use an Fe-diluted term lol) in their speech (actually a mixture of unsophisticated and rude - without meaning to sound rude) and generally not paying attention to others, some unfortunately have been full on narcs which is a real shame. But I can think of some that I really like but unfortunately it's not the majority of them. But I like their being in the moment and spontaneity - and they can be very stylish.
You couldn't have expressed my love for ISFJs better. It often feels like we're the same. We have a lot in common - I could write a book about it. The only difference is the Si / Ni thing but if both sides adjust then we can love each other in a full-on Fe manner :) We also don't like bullshit - our Ti doesn't allow that :) And the INFJ can encourage the ISFJ to try new things, to think about something in a different way (basically unstuck them from their inf Ne fear of newness / action). And the ISFJ can do the more Se mundane things (and spur on the INFJ to do them as well) that they love doing as they show their care for the other person this way and for doing which the INFJ just doesn't care because the world of ideas is so much more exciting.
Yes, ENFJs are us on steroids. I may sometimes be seen as that as I'm an ambivert but I'll never have the level of energy or care to unite people the way ENFJs do. But we're also more decisive than ENFJs and there we can help.
Sometimes when INFPs say something in a group setting I'm like ohhhh, first think than speak. It's maybe not really offensive but if someone took offence then it would disturb the group harmony and my Fe doesn't like it. But thankfully most of the times no one takes offence, so it's fine. And contrary to the INFP I've never stood there observing people, I may often have jumped in too fast, to my detriment sometimes, so I really had to learn it. Yes, we're very similar but I'm the non-fiction and reality preferring type.
I agree regarding INFJs - we're the Hermes mini Kelly bag (if you know what I mean) - hard to get (rare) and extremely expensive (with a set of traits that people aspire to). And it's good to see the INFJ for what it really is - I wouldn't use the word conflicted here (though some may be), I think contradictory is what it is. People don't like cognitive bias - and we give them a lot of that :) But understanding INFJs can be a transferrable skill to understand the world better with all its variety and contradictions. Maybe the world would be less polarised. See what my Ni did here? :)
With ESFJs I've noticed that there's always a point at which their creativity comes to an end and things get very repetitive or even boring if you don't like what's being repeated. But they're energetic so they can bring the same idea all over again and people will love it because of that energy and enthusiasm.
The amounts of times I heard from an INTJ that I'm too concerned about what people think! And I must say they were right :) But as they get me well, they would never say that my ways with people are fake. And INTJ solutions have often literally saved my arse. Or sometimes they come up with something so brilliant, I wish I'd have thought of that.
ISFP as "a romantic blueprint for a certain kind of freedom" is THE essence of them. It's all they are. But if an ISFP gets something stuck in their head, no Fe user or anyone else can convince them otherwise. This is often unfortunately to their detriment but the Fi wins.
I can go into ENFP mode but that's only when I'm more in an extroverted mood, I will never be the 1000 projects started yet none of them finished person. But according to your definition I can be charismatic as I like to poke the bear a bit - but not too much, it's being more conceptual in expression and not meaning to offend. I can be blunt at times but that's the Ti, so not really ENFP mode in that.
I've never been in the "no surprises please" club :) I like a plan but can adjust. What I don't like is an Se -Te overload.
ESTJs are great for repetition of tasks but the "all the same all the time" would do my head in - so in that scenario a surprise or change of course would be very welcomed :)
I loved the "emphasis on the dick" in dictatorial :) This is a funny way to say the truth that often makes ENTJs not being appreciated. But they can emphasise the "wrong" part all they want, an INFJ is not someone to be dictated anything. Which the ENTJ has understood :) But when discussing something with them you just know that they understand your vision and this doesn't even need to be mentioned because it's "in the air". Same goes for discussions with ENTPs.

But since I have a quite random and dark humor, I almost always bond instantly over that with intjs. They are the only ones who really seem to get my jokes and we have the weirdest conversations.
I also LOVE isfjs. They seem so kind and sweet but can also be extremely bold when they stand up for their close ones or values. That is just admirable and I would never want to have an isfj as an enemy.

ISTP here. My cousin, who is an INFJ, and I have a very close relationship. Since I'm an only child, he's the closest thing I have to a brother. It's an interesting dynamic that we have, where I trust him more with people in our friend group and dealing with people that I don't know, and he trusts me to fix things or take the lead when action is required.
A good example for when I trust him regularly is when we play dungeons and dragons. I'm the DM and he encourages me when I have trouble conveying a certain feeling or emotion when RPing as an npc, and he's always giving me useful tips on handling player dynamics.
Conversely, he likes to play airsoft on weekends and sometimes comes to me with the arena layouts and asks for help creating strategies for different areas. Ones that the enemy team commonly holds down or tries to capture a flag from. He's often surprised at how well the strategies work out in practice.
Notice; both of the things mentioned above involve us being engaged in activities that make heavy use of our fourth functions. It's stressful, but also a bit liberating. I would encourage everybody to find some kind of activity like that if possible.
Edit: One interesting thing is that my cousin is legally, but not totally blind. He wears his glasses under his safety mask during airsoft and can rush people like a crazy madman before they even know what hit them. It's absolutely wild to watch him on the field. Something I have mad respect for.

What you described is very similar. I'm fascinated by how well he fixes things and how well he can come up with physical strategy.
He shoves me to the front when people are upset and trusts my judgment when I say there's something off.
We both do martial arts, and even how you described your cousin is accurate. Although we have a rep for being planners, the truth is, sometimes even we don't know what we're going to do (especially in physical situations)!
Very interesting. I'm so glad you both have this dynamic.
And for the record, I think you got one of the coolest types.

@@otterinaballgown3703 I'm glad you think it's a cool type. I don't think so though. I have had to rely on people with things like buying a vehicle or showing my work at my job.
We've got systems down when they function under an unchanging and written in stone set of rules, like programming, engineering, or just working on a car. But people aren't like that, so it's always a mystery.
It's really turbulent not knowing who you can trust, all the while you have to trust other people to tell you who you can or can't trust. It's a really strange catch 22.
At least I know I can trust my parents and my cousin without a shred of doubt. So I'm thankful for that at least...

Honestly, I lack the energy to go into details. But I will try my best cause certain things mentioned here could potentially be taken out of context into thousand directions while missing the essence. 1. Authenticity and harmony are somewhat confusing terms. That is, if one doesn’t get the relationship one function has with other ones and where it is positioned in the stack. My mom would often be the one fostering good relationships with others. After all, INFPs are called mediators for a reason. They do mediate conflicts. On the other hand, my main concern is not harmony since Fe is my auxiliary function. It is getting to the core of things. Finding where something started/originated. Therefore, I tend to appreciate and search for originality. Whatever that originality may look like for others, I don’t care. They are free to search for it independently as I do that for myself. 2. What does Fe mean as a auxiliary function? For me, it means responsibility for others, fighting to bring ideals into practice that others could benefit from. It is concern for others but in a way that supports an idea/ideal. If I could help someone going through a hard time in life, I would do that without thinking twice. I understand that life is messed up and hits hard. Why would I add additional weight to it? Why would I try bringing someone down? Why would I tell anyone how to live their life? I can help by channeling my lateral thinking by asking questions to others while they try to search for answers on their own. After all, I do that all the time for myself. Only I can get stuck into that question - search for the right answer mode. And Fe could help me get out of that mental loop that feels like a vacuum. 3. I am not sure how shadow types are explained by experts. I know from practice that the versatile nature an ENFP shows on the outside is the one INFJs have as the core and hidden from plain sight. And the opposite is true. The depth someone sees in an INFJ is the inner core of ENFP. It is something like: what you see is merely a result happening hidden on the inside. 4. The difference between INTJ and INFJ is that one needs to place a system they find important/working for everyone to go with it. The other needs group cohesion while respecting individual differences. One goes against the group cohesion, the other goes against systems placed by authority. In practice, this is not always easy to distinguish. One needs to pay close attention to what exactly makes a type react. Types aren’t descriptions written in a book. It is more complex than that. 5. There is a quote that offers an alternative view to diplomacy: Diplomacy is the art of telling people to go to hell in such a way that they ask for directions.

@@mahardikaerza5010 we have been married for 37 years so it can work.We came to the understanding that I need some time to think and then to discuss things after. Also, I can see many sides to most situations and I feel bullied when I am expected to choose or to defend my position. I also don’t like to be told that what I am doing is not the most efficient thing so it’s wrong. The best thing to do with an INFJ is to listen without formulating a reply, so slow down and let him/her talk, and be able to repeat what they said. We’re not as logical as ENTJs but we have a lot of wisdom. Treat us with respect and go out of your way to show us that you are thinking of us and you are doing things you know we would like instead of doing what you want to do and expect us to speak up for ourselves. Be gentle, and soft, and he/she will eventually learn to be more open. If you are demanding or forceful they will withdraw.

How are you so good at this?!
My sister is an infj, and I think this is exactly how she thinks about people!
Our Dad is an esfj, and she's both very similar to him and also gets extremely aggravated by his ways! I've always found it easy to get along with him, but I don't share as many traits with him as she does.
And our sister relationship (infj and ENFP) has always been very good, but exactly like you say, she's always concerned with keeping everyone happy, and while I do, deep down, want that too, I tend to be a bit more abrasive, because I just say what I think, and see what happens next🤣. Charm vs charisma, although I would not have described myself like that. (It's true that although I make faux pas consistently and can be a bit "too much", people still like me, so maybe that's what it means. I thought it was more that I'm surrounded by very tolerant friends)
When she turns on her "nice" charm, I feel compelled to go in strong with chaotic truth, and then she is horrified, I am gleeful, she's scolding, I'm repentant, and then we laugh about the whole situation.
(And really, she secretly agreed with me the whole time!)

@@mokari9268 Yes, I can see that. My Fi is outraged by the switch that she does sometimes, she has her "hanging out and feeling safe" vibe, and if she suddenly switches to this mask of proper, "making a public statement to the press" vibe, I have a very difficult time being okay with that. It feels fake, even though I know she's not like that.
But she'd do this thing where on Christmas she'd refuse to bicker with me *because it's Christmas* and it drove me crazy! I'd pick fights with her, pressing her buttons until she lost her temper! And then I'd feel better (but guilty 😥) and try to cheer her up again. Not that I wanted to fight, it's just so insulting to be faced with this superior/valiant martyr mask, that I have the urge to do whatever is necessary to rip it off!
Now that we're adults, I have better self control and I'm more willing to accept that she's feeling something that makes her put up her mask, and that's okay if it makes her feel better.
(But I still pull at it a little bit, lol)
We're good for each other, and normally make an excellent creative team. I've always considered her the responsible, smart one, even though she's younger, and I'm the calming one, Not panicking or worrying about the troubles that come, easily thinking fast to find a good solution. Edit 1: ugh the commentary in the ISTP section is so true. The first example I can think of when I actually realized _after_ the fact what happened is when my brother was worried we were going to go to war, in late 2021, and I was like "here's a bunch of connections between people that mean we aren't going to get into a conflict with Russia" but because War is Depressing I extrapolated that into "Russia won't invade Ukraine it's all just a bluff" to the point that I bet him $20 about it.
    I lost the bet, obviously.
And, rereading my journal from spring 2021 (when the buildup started), in the privacy of my own head I was so sure Russia was going to invade that I only hoped Zelenzkyy managed to play a strategic PR game.

    INFJ. Here's my version:
ESTP: the ones who play sports at school and keep hitting up on the chicks. Not my type, or someone I would date. But charming nonetheless.
ISTP: the ones I would call to fix something at home, fix a car, etc. The handyman. Down to earth. Someone I would like to be with in an apocalypse.
ENFJ: someone I would want to be my mom / mom archetype. Love how their organizational skills over people and being able to help so many people without being drained very easily
ENTP: loves debates. Just wants to prove themselves correct while being unaware people are already crying because of the ridiculous things they say
ISFJ: sister archetype. I love their cooking skills! I would want an ISFJ to be my best friend. Comforting. I love them. They are the practical version of INFJs.
ENTJ: bossy but gets rich easily and intelligent
ESFP: entertaining. The type to go to when I want some mindless entertainment. Great fashion style. Confident.
INFP: fellow empathetic soul, but can be too idealistic and easily taken advantage of. I feel the need to protect them from the harsh world.
INFJ: yo my fellow unicorns where ya at :)
INTP: someone I would marry and find fascinating. A great partner for INFJ on many fundamental levels.
ESFJ: the popular girls, impeccable fashion style but mean girls / mean girl vibes and manipulative bullies behind a pretty face
INTJ: smart but evil and have no concern for humanity
ISFP: artist vibes. I love their artworks, paintings, songs, etc. Creative soul and caring too. Someone to share art with, learn some artistic techniques, go to art galleries with, consult for interior design
ENFP: like INFP, but gets themselves into trouble more easily. Annoying but endearing.
ISTJ: someone I would go to to do my taxes and paperwork. Very practical and always keeps the house very clean but can be neat freaks but very useful people
ESTJ: someone I would need to get shit done.. like ISTJ

INTP and ENTJ or ENTP deep inside could be INTJ ,it's quite opposite, but if an entp would develop or change certain habits or strengths/mildness in their personality, it should be naturally easier for them to go down the INTJ path. That’s so interesting because I am an entp girl and I often times will see things written about infj and I wonder that’s very relatable maybe I’m an infj and i think no pfft that’s crazy cause we are typed so differently but hm maybe not so crazy after all.

It's definitely one of the less talked about mistypes. I've noticed that especially online INFJs can emulate that speaking style and banter that ENTPs are often known for. There have been a few INFJs on the LoveWho Discord server who have gone on that typing trajectory - starting off thinking they were ENTPs only to realise that they were in fact INFJs ~ Nathan

@@lovewho yo so true me & my ENTP bestie got mistyped as each other. I swear our humor aligns well so much. Like mirrors sometimes. ENTP's break off my serious demeanor. I guess cause of our functions Ti-Fe & Fe-Ti. Different yet alike??

Also I weirdly feel like I have a love and will to help some ISFJs I know which I cannot bring into fruition satisfyingly.

As an INFJ, I can confirm this video is very accurate! I'd add that we see ENFJs more people oriented than us, while we are more intellectual and analytical. There are many INFJs who are not that people oriented, myself included. I've always been fascinated about the world and life at large, more than people near me

I'm an INFJ and the first one hits hard. "INFJs see ESTP as their bold, daring alter ego." There are two kinds of INFJ: the ones that hate ESTPs and the ones that love ESTPs. I'm one of the latter and simp vor ESTPs, because they have much characteristics I would like to have. Their go to vibes are very appealing to me.

Im glad you mentioned the dick in ENTJ 😂. I've yet to converse with another INFJ that feels this way, so I thought I was an outlier.
My son is possibly an ESFP and I find myself telling him to chill out more often than not. I let him be his full self while at home, but feel the need to prep him before he attends any sort of activity outside the home.

In school, I was an INFJ with an ESTJ math teacher who believed I was an idiot, even groaning and insulting me in front of the class, because I couldn't memorize all the seemingly pointless methods for solving algebra problems. (This was Algebra I.) Naturally, I completely flunked the first quarter. The second quarter wasn't much better, I earned the lowest passing grade. However, toward the end of the third quarter, something clicked, and overnight I *understood* algebra. I salvaged that third quarter, averaging an acceptable grade. But, by the fourth quarter, having harnessed my pattern-recognition power and achieving a sort of mathematical epiphany, I was by far the top student in the class, achieving an "A" in Algebra I. My teacher would ask me to go to the blackboard and have me show him and the class how I was able to solve an algebra problem so quickly. When I did so, despite his prior disparaging attitude toward me, he was humble enough to admit before the class that I had figured out algebra in a way that he never had. Pattern recognition, as an INFJ, is central in my life and has been a feature of work performance for my entire working life. (I'm retired now, and looking for other stimulating challenges.)
