I only did it in 8th grade for my English teacher and she said she liked my entries. I think I was reading Ecclesiastes back then and I wrote on King Solomon’s wisdom.
Since watching your video, I am using the four prompts and finding it much easier. I like writing in the second person as it takes the pressure off. Thank you so much x
Interesting Holly! Journaling is so under estimated but it could be so powerful to recover information. Recovering memories is a story of our life. Imagine that our mind is an ocean and our conciousness is a boat, everytime we travel somewhere in the ocean, we could discover new things. We could only be in only one place at each moment but through time , we could visit so many places. Journaling is a way to put signs so that we could know how to get back there. We know that we always associate something to retain infromation, it will create more connection, so it will be easier to find a way to come back to that idea. I'm sure, there are so many pieces of memories that are lost in our brain due to the fact that the connections are getting weaker through time. We need to maintain those good memories through self reflecting, journaling, or music ... Emotions make stronger and more resiliant connection between ideas. As of now, there are not a lot of technical innovations that allows us to keep track of all of our memories, almost nothing could give access to our past memories besides us trying to remember. Sometimes is good because forgetting things is extremely important to maintain our wellness, sometimes it's frustating.
Thank you for sharing this! I love the points you've made here, I've never really thought about it that way! I agree though one of the best benefits is to recall memories and how we felt/experienced a moment as accurately as possible. This has been super comforting for me and the element of journaling I've found most beneficial. So nice to share this perspective with a like-mind ☺️ Thank you for watching! ✨
Thank you for the tips, I am now answering 3 questions daily…. 1 - 3 things I am excited for (morning note) 2- 3 things I accomplished today and 3 - 3 things I am grateful for (evening notes) so far it’s working for me
The best part is that you'll develop writing skills. I've been writing for many years and now I can write paragraphs easily. It is truly powerful and magical to be able to express your inner thoughts, and I recommend it for everyone. Just write. And your brain will adapt and get good at it. It takes years to do. Thanks, Holly. This is a good video topic.
Absolutely! I've developed an unexpected love for writing and storytelling as a byproduct of journaling. I agree, I couldn't recommend it more! Thanks for watching! ☺️
Great message Holly :-) yes journalling is amazing, I often write things that are quite deep, sometimes raw, but I especially write down every time I have an encounter with God, which may sound strange to you but I thought I'd be vulnerable and share with you some of a journal entry I wrote in 2020: "When God encountered me I saw the way He saw me, I felt what He felt over me, He has had this whole time, total compassion towards me for everything I've been through, for everything I've suffered, I saw his total understanding towards me, for all of it. I saw how much He really, really loves me, I saw nothing but His pure goodness towards me. I saw that He was aching deeply over my pain, He actually feels what I feel, I actually felt Gods pain, for my pain, and I realised in that moment, that He really, really loves me, more than I could possibly imagine."
Wow, thank you for sharing this very humbling and emotive journal entry Stephen. This really resonated with me deeply! What beautiful words, reflection and so eloquently put💛
@lagomholly Thanks so much lovely Holly, I really appreciate your kind words. I know that may come across as weird, but it was very real to me at a very rough time in my life, or I wouldn't have written it. You're literally the only other person I've shared that with (I'm aware obviously other people can see this post, of course). Thank you for taking the time to read it, means a lot to me ❤️
What a beautiful way to end the week watching a new Holly video ..besides the video being awesome your personality is so bubbly and over flowing with joy that even the grinch would smile and become happy with just one moment of being near you…..Holly your something this world needs a lot more of….
I’ve been watching RUclips clips about common place notebooks, which I think I might start. One of the first things I want to write in there is something else I saw on RUclips (not to self - am I spending too much time on RUclips??). Anyway back to what I want to write in my common place notebook. It’s a verse by Anthony Hopkins ‘Facts about women who enjoy bring alone’. Worth a listen.
Hi Holly, happy and peaceful day to you. Journaling is an interesting subject. I have two thoughts: What is the purpose of journaling? (You said it actually works, by what measure?) And, my issue is not getting started, it’s that I have too much chaos going on in my head all the time and it’s like an active volcano. My head is an echo chamber, lol. What can I do?
Definitely! And what great questions - albeit I don't think I have the complete answers for them! 😀 But from my experience I've found it most beneficial for capturing a moment and feeling. It's easy for us to forget or distort how we may have experienced or felt during particular moments. By writing my feelings and experiences as soon as I have them it helps to look back and remember a moment for what is was as accurately as possible. I've found this helpful when it comes to people too... I've long had a habit of seeing the best in people even when they've done me wrong, but journaling reminds me of what that person did/made me feel in the moment so I don't have time to convince myself otherwise. It's also helpful for me to look back and see how far I've grown and overcome difficult times, which is very fulfilling and reminds me difficult moments do pass.
In terms of how to get started, I relate a lot to you there with what can feel like an over-active and exploding mind! 😂 Firstly I'd say have something to hand to write down your thoughts asap when you have these head-mashing moments (for me my phone helps because its mostly always on me and I'm a super speedy texter) Then just write down literally everything you're thinking and try to bunch it into 'categories' or 'chapters' like you're writing a story almost and for ease of reading looking back. Use paragraphs and headings etc. I know it sounds silly but this really works to make sure everything in my head is verbalised and I understand it. Then once it's written down I find I don't think about it much more. Almost like making a shopping list prior to going to the supermarket, you cant stop thinking about what you need but once it's written down you don't think about needing to pick up milk for example because it's written down and your mind can rest knowing it's been acknowledged, recorded and dealt with. I hope that makes sense and is helpful! Let me know how you get on ☺️
What’s your experience with journaling?✨

I journal as n when I need to after being introduced to it by a counselling session. But regardless I try n journal at least once a week 😊
Sounds great! I agree it’s not necessarily how often you do it but the practise itself! It’s always beneficial✨

@@lagomholly this advice is very helpful and thanks for making it concrete
I keep trying to keep a journal but as soon as I start to write my brain freezes and I can’t think of what to write.
I’ve certainly been there! Try giving the FAT technique a go as it can be helpful during mind fog moments!😄
