The Glengarry Games Massed Bands is the most incredible musical experience ever. It is overwhelming and cannot be appreciated if you have not been there. I cannot wait for 2022;
As an Alexander MacDonnell from Glengarry County, Ontario Canada my Great Great Grandfather was John Alexander MacDonnell who had migrated to Canada as a Lawyer who was an Attorney General. In 1812 while England was engaged in the 7 years War against France the Americans took advantage and attacked then Upper (Ontario & Quebec). MacDonnell was made a Lt.Colonel of the Glengarry Highlanders as the Aide-de-camp of General Issac Brock. Both Brock and MacDonnell led a charge against the U.S. Army at Queenston Heights and were heavily outnumbered. Both were killed but the English and Militia won the Battle. During the War the American Army attacked, looted and Burned York (now Toronto). When England defeated Napoleon the British Navy then attacked Washington burning their Presidential Palace which was White-Washed and renamed the White House. That night the British Navy bombarded Baltimore Fort Wayne and in the morning Francis Keys noted: "Oh Say Can you See by the Dawn's Early Light that our Flag was Still There..." The USA National Anthem. Unfortunately, most Americans aren't taught this in school and just don't know.

Attended Glengarry Games many times the Massed Bands is one of my favourite parts. Along with marching in the opening ceremonies with my Gunn family Clan.
When I see the massed Pipes and Drums start i hear freedom, i feel proud an my skin becomes Goosebumps, i'm a German, i play the german Sackpfeyfe, but i feel me scottish!

WWII, the Germans called 'em the fighting ladies from hell.... I can only imagine..... surely many a Scot died in that war, but the enemy paid a dear price per man!!!!

I was at this event and bought my first kilt there ( not a wool one ) . I now own 12 wool kilts and wear them every day . People in the small town I live in appreciate what I wear . I just ignore buffoons like mr31337 . A lot more guys would wear kilts if they were not intimidated by the idea and knew how comfortable they are .

I was in the Orlando highland games, the band i was in got 1st place 2022 :O :D
I was playing at this game in 2017, but I was still new at this point and it was the first time I ever got to go somewhere else.

Its kinda hard to fit over 700 people on the field, had to swerve from side to side so I wouldn't accidently hit a drummer or another piper.
