Nice new look. Like your M10 shutter sound the best of the two. Where on earth did you get those oval rings that allow you to use the Pen Design red strap ends? Assume they are strong enough to take the weight of a noctilux lens?
Hi Mark, I don't. I buy the Leica cameras more for the performance/ function than the branding so for watches I go to brands known for watches. I'm not a watch expert but I have a few. Seiko automatics are always nice and not hugely expensive.
Congratulations! I do miss my M10-P. I had to move away from M cameras to end up coming back to it. Lesson learned at least. Do you find you notice the difference in the eye piece size between the M10 and the older M bodies?
Maybe I missed something, but if the M-10 shoots color and the now converted to M-10P shoots color why do you prefer to shoot color with the M262 instead of the later model M-10(P)? And, I cannot find the link for the Mr. Leica Approved screen protectors. Maybe dementia, but could you give it to me? Thanks.
Hi Sandy, I just buy matte screen protectors from Germany, about $10 so not expensive. Nothing fancy except need to be matte finish. M262 has the older M240 sensor so like the M9 (but to a lesser extent) it has better colours than newer models. M9 > M240 > M10 > M11 (colours get worse each time). Interesting. I thought the M10-P is supposed to be a quieter model. But the M262 actually sounds more quiet to me and I prefer the sound of it. Thanks for doing this update. Informative and helpful. Am looking at getting a used digital M but having a tough time deciding which one. Probably leaning towards the M10-P due to its considerable improvements over earlier models. But then there's the price factor. Back to square one. Back and forth. Back and forth. :-(
Thanks, if you missed it the video explains that I requested a half upgrade to keep the original louder M10 shutter as I need it for model photography.
I tried to get my M10 converted to an M10P; Leica kept pushing the timeline back and back (it was going to be nearly 12 months) until I just bought a genuine M10P. Sold my M10 once it was returned.
Matt, as much as I love this channel, I am now very confused as to which camera you actually use, so far you have the Leica CL, M240, M262, M10, M10P, for portrait photography, since that's what you do mostly. Why this constant change of heart? Or is it? I have owned a M240 for a few years, and recently purchased a M10 Monochrom, I don't see any reason to upgrade, downgrade, or go sideways on each body. The M240 produces amazing color photos SOOC, and the M10M does the same for B&W.. On side note, I have used Leica support twice, and to be honest I am not impressed one bit, and I'm being nice :)
Hi, sorry for the confusion, I bought M10 to replace M240. M10 went to Germany for repair so I bought M262 (and sold M240). M10 was converted to M10(P). I now have CL, SL, M262, M10(P) + Q that I will sell. M262 colours are great yes but M10(P) will be my most used camera going forward (is the plan)(more versatile).
This is really cool, never knew leica could upgrade your camera! I wonder if it is also possible to change color like a silver to black?? Because I love my m11 which is brass … but its silver.. haha
Thanks Matt for the nice video and I wish you so much fun with the upgraded camera. It looks very sexy indeed. I have an irrelevant two questions if you don't mind. 1- Do you still use you Leica CL ? It doesn't show that often on the channel anymore. I have bought one since watching your video about the mini Q :) and I am thinking of using it with a vintage M lens to keep it small. what do you think ? 2- Have you upgraded to the Q3 ? or are you still use the original Q ?
Thanks! Yes I still have the CL. I use it less currently as I often need full frame sensors to test FF lenses. I'm not planning to sell it. I plan to sell my Q. I'm not interested in fixed lens cameras so much.
That was fast... 4 months for a brand "new" camera .. congrats and enjoy your "new" toy .. I m sure you 're going to take more photos with it 🙂 That a unique one for sure !

Such a sexy piece indeed, and you did it well justice with the gloves 😂 As a watch enthusiast, I second your sentiments about caring for the smallest of details. That’s what good design is about, and should be fun. Speakinf if details, your loud m10p is very nice and sharp sounding. The m262 sounds like in a wood box, still charming though, but a retro charm 😊
And they refuse to upgrade my m11 or even engrave it. Assholes. Even in Leica Munich they started to behave like one. I really don’t get it as today I was in Leica Miami and they were super nice and sold me some gear. When I leave the store empty handed when I really want to buy something is really sad moment for me.
Yes you can't upgrade the current models as it images their sales of the M11-P etc. You should be able to engrave as you'll likely see me talk about this in a future video. Costs 200 euros FYI.
I like my Leica's WITHOUT the damned bright red dot....I really do not want to advertise what camera I have....I didn't buy it to show off, I bought it as a fun tool. I wish Leica would offer all their cameras with the option for the Dot and branding or blank and black....and it shouldn't require an extra charge, IMHO.
You might have missed all the screenshots. I try to make it as easy as I can for people. Watch again and note the M10 prices screenshot + slide from Leica screenshot showing the 2 upgrade price options. Then just add them together. (It won’t make sense for most M10 people as cheaper to buy 10P directly as mentioned).
I don"t send my M10 to Leica for upgrade. I just sell it and buy an M10P. But since, I'm absolutely disappointed to lost my chrome M10 ... Yes the M10P is absolutely quiet and very helpful in several conditions but the feeling and the look isn't really the same with my lost chrome M10. DON'T TRADE YOUR M10 FOR AN M10P
Thanks for sharing. Yes my camera was already with Germany for repair so it was cheaper to upgrade than sell and rebuy. You'll have to buy another chrome camera one day. (I bought the M262 that had less functions than M240 and I prefer it).
no images! Super it's back! Friend had the M9 and faulty sensor.11 months wait. Wunderbaar! Why no images? I don't look at images o folks camera gear on FB! No like/dislike!
Thanks Jason, you no what the M10 images look like already. I shared them for nearly 6 months before I sent it away :) ..and it had just arrived when I made the video.
Matt, I love your videos, but this is just flushing money down the toilet.......sorry, I just do not get it...........and yes, I have a couple of nice watches.....................................................
Thanks Bill, You know I normally spend for no reason. The excuse here was 1) it's my job and 2) it's nice to have when facing my clients/ students etc. Call it a marketing expense and a nice to have combined.

Because I love my m11 which is brass … but its silver.. haha
Thanks, me neither until a few months ago and I was looking at every option! haha, the colour might be less easy :)
How much it cost
Price is in the video on the slides from Leica (depends on what upgrade you have)
nice news for you ! what do you do with m262 now?🙄
Yes I might use them as a pair when I travel for shoots as I always need spare body for clients/ models
I'm not interested in fixed lens cameras so much.
nice... pretty good turnaround too
Thanks! Yes much faster than I expected. A nice surprise!
Definitely prefer the M 262 shutter sound. The M10 sounds like a sneezing Smurf.
Haha thanks, the M10 definitely sounds more clicks
That was fast... 4 months for a brand "new" camera .. congrats and enjoy your "new" toy ..
I m sure you 're going to take more photos with it 🙂 That a unique one for sure !
Thanks Grom! Yes faster than expected!
Brand new 2nd hand Leica, sweet.
Yes! Better than I could have expected!
Congratulations. Enjoy.
Thank you!
Nice! Prefer the M262 more "meaty" sound. (I am an M8 user, so used to solid sounding shutter :)
Thanks! Yes the older M cameras have a meaty sound for sure! M8/M9 especially :)
Exactly how much does it cost to upgrade from an M10 to an M10-P?
Watch the video it tells you ;)
@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom
I watched the video twice and did not see a price. I saw prices for a new M10P but not for an upgrade.

@1:26 Opps, sorry! The third time was a charm. I watched the video for the third time and saw the prices. The first two times I watched the video on my cell phone and did not see the written prices. The third time, I watched on my larger computer monitor and saw the prices in Euro with value added tax.

That new shutter now sounds like my Contax G2s before they stopped working. It sounded just like a click really.
Nice. Yes it sounds very crisp and exact for sure!
OK ... WHAT WATCH are You wearing ?????????
Seiko 5 Sports Field Watch Automatic Grey Dial :)
Thank you! Yes and great you like watches. I'll try to feature a few more going forward. Yes the M262 sounds very crisp!
You know what's so strange . They call it 'upgrade' we call this 'stealing' .😂
Why stealing?
@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom the price of the upgrade 😯 the full pack
I prefer the shutter sound of the 262
Thanks, more dampened for sure!
Such a freaking nice camera.
Yes!! I always see my students with nice P cameras. Finally I have a pretty camera too :D
Perfect!
Yes! Thanks
They didn't add the "P" to the "M10" engraving!?
I'm not sure if they can if it left the factory originally as a M10
Thanks CC! Yes a nice idea to offer it as optional for each model.
Very nice but how much does this all cost? You’re being very coy about the bill.
YEEEESSS
Thanks Simon!
❤❤❤❤
Thanks mate!
M10!
It's back! :)
If I were a model I'd like better the M262 sound.
Haha yes, it sounds softer for sure!
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom In the video it seems a bit louder but warmer, kind of thicker, as if it were easier to hear while working.
I shared them for nearly 6 months before I sent it away :) ..and it had just arrived when I made the video.
what if leica upgrade my m240 to a m11 sensor and type-c charger🤤🤤
Haha nice idea :)
Matt, I love your videos, but this is just flushing money down the toilet.......sorry, I just do not get it...........and yes, I have a couple of nice watches.....................................................
lol, not your money, so…
Thanks Bill, You know I normally spend for no reason. The excuse here was 1) it's my job and 2) it's nice to have when facing my clients/ students etc. Call it a marketing expense and a nice to have combined.
