I dont want to fall into this trap of "as long as we win" that seems to be the Steelers way. This type of offense isn't sustainable for a deep playoff run. Regular season wins are great but you cant take Pittsburgh seriously until they can put up points.
If the calf is an issue, Russ should just focus on rehab. Let Fields have his trial by fire. To be honest, Wilson will have a new opportunity regardless of how this season goes.

I think the thing people are missing is Fields is improving under this staff. The offense isn’t great but the aim is to find a way to win the ugly games. Penalties have stalled the offense out for two weeks so if they can put a clean game together Pittsburgh may be a tough team.

The Steelers lack of offensive is not due to Justin Fields at the QB position. They need a #2 wide receiver hence why they went all in to get Brandon Aiyuk. The Steelers had the best record in their division last year at 5-1. They are leading in that division after 2 games this year. Unc has been hating on Mike T for the last 5 years and Ocho can’t see past the Bengals. Remember the Steelers are a #2 receiver away from being a threat to win the AFC.

That stated, I believe Tomlin feels Russ gives them a better chance of MAKING plays. However, it will be difficult to make the move if they're winning and Fields isn't hurting the team.

Justin Fields is playing well, if you say he isnt, you not actually watching the games and just looking at the boxscore. In one offseason Justin has changed his drop, his eyes are not dropping, he's breaking contain from the pocket looking to throw rather than run, he's throwing quick outs and slants and getting the ball out quicker, and he's not turning it over. All these are improvements from last year, I know im a Bears fan.
