@@c0mplex_Ale I mean nobody can really be objective with these things. People also judge things using different metrics. For me FF7 is also number 1 but it is beaten by many modern games now in a lot of categories; sound design/music, graphics, character development, story etc. but back then it was the pinnacle. I'm sure nostalgia also comes into it
LOVE seeing some Crazy Taxi love. Really wish Sega would bring back those more condensed, arcade-y experiences the way they're prioritizing stuff like Like a Dragon which feel like a whole game of just zany, balls-to-the-wall action albeit with pretty great narratives. Almost feels like a spiritual expansion of the catharsis of those older Sega games but made for a console audience that want something deeper while keeping the tone more unpredictable
I also hope that more of these more-focused, small file-size, reasonably-priced games to have a comeback for ALL the big-name developers - SEGA, Nintendo, Capcom, Namco, etc.
One thing I'm thankful to Max for is him introducing me to so many amazing games that were completely out of my comfort zone, like Bloodborne, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, the whole arcade Sega pantheon, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Thank you Max!
I probably never would’ve tried Bloodborne without Max’s glowing recommendation; it was waaaayyyy out of my comfort zone. But damn am I glad I did! It’s gotta be a top 10 game of mine now.
I've tried making a list like this before. Some things on my list change with time and perspective, but there are a few that will be eternally up there for me. DOOM 1993 is, and likely will forever remain, my all-time favourite game. It's one of those games that I can always, always come back to and still have fun playing. It also has a very special place in my heart because of my Dad. I was too much of a whimp to play the game myself at first, so instead I would watch my Dad play it. He would kill the monsters and I'd help him navigate and find secrets. That game is woven into the fabric of my being, dude.
FFXI is a game that will always stick with me. Throughout its eras, I never stopped learning about the way the game works. There is so much depth to its classes and mechanics that it's easy to see why Max rates it so highly (and why he couldn't put it down). It's certainly advanced in quality of life since the early years, but it cannot be recreated because of how it created community... even if the height of endgame for a while was claiming monsters with a 21-24 hour respawn window.
PSO is up there for me too. I dropped around 5000 hours into that game on DC. Still have my original characters saved on separate VMUs. That game was revolutionary to me at a time when online gaming was brand new.
My top list: 1. Final Fantasy 7 2. Ocarina of Time 3. Elden Ring 4. Final Fantasy 7 Remake 5. Bloodborne 6. A Link to the Past 7. Final Fantasy 9 8. Heroes 3 9. Dockey Kong Country 2 10. Dark Souls
I'd be very curious to see lists from simmons, kenny and steve. We've heard the discussions and we've seen the streams, but having a definitive for each dood would be fun to see.
I think our choices are made by the memories we had of our first playthrough. That's why on my list, i would have put FF8 there for the graphics on PSX and the intro who blew my mind 25 years ago. Today, people would laugh about them but when it came out, i realized videogames could be like this.
My top 25 would be (in no order because i don't feel like taking all day to think on it) Devil May Cry 3 Metal Gear Solid 3 Yakuza 0 SF Alpha 2 Resident Evil 4 Sonic 3 & Knuckles Devil May Cry 5 KOF 2002 UM Virtua Fighter 5: US Megaman X4 Tekken 3 Garou MOTW Gran Turismo 5 Grandia 2 Phantasy Star 4 Real Bout Fatal Fury Special VF4 Evo Shenmue 2 Ridge Racer Type 4 MGS1 Streets of Rage 2 Samurai Shodown 2 Jet Set Radio Ghost of Tsushima Shinobi 3 Final Fantasy 7 Honorable mentions: Streets of Rage 4, MvC2, SF3
1. Final Fantasy VII (OG) 2. Metal Gear Solid 3 3. Resident Evil 4 (OG) 4. Marvel vs Capcom 2 5. Zelda: Ocarina of Time 6. Call of Duty 4 (OG) 7. Killer Instinct (OG) 8. Resident Evil 2 (OG) 9. Oh boy well in honor of nobody asking but I love discussing it, Ive got myself a top 10 list and some tidbits about why i love them! 1- hollow knight: incredible gameplay, bosses, soundtrack, world, and one of the best stories thats passively told to you instead of ham fisted through miles of text. Team cherry managed to create the best metroidvania period, and deserve nothing but the highest praise IMO (plus its like $15) 2. Twilight princess: midna, its just midna, I love the game and the dungeons, but midna is like my favorite character ever i love her. 3. Mario galaxy 1- some of the tightest focus for level design ive ever seen, incredibly fun mechanics, and pure quality 4. Xenoblade 2: I love all the characters, combat (when you learn it) is my favorite combat system of all time, and "we are the chosen ones" is one of the best songs period. 5. God of war 3- best hack and slash IMO ever, with some amazing weapons, great atmosphere, and a very satisfying conclusion to kratos' adventures through greece. 6. Bowsers inside story- mario RPG to its best (never played TTYD), and you get to play as bowser, its incredible 7. Super metroid- holy shit this game is just amazing 8. Xenoblade 3- made me cry LIKE🙏 A🙏 BITCH🙏 love mio shes fantastic 9. Dkc tropical freeze- grassland groove is the best level in any game Ive ever experienced, and it puts 2d mario to absolute shame 10. Pokemon colosseum- it was the first pokemon I REALLY played, meaning that yes I learned how to play the basics of pokemon by beating the hardest game. Very creative liberties taken with the IP and 2 decades later, it shows what a 3d pokemon game should be quality wise. I love other games like Okami (masterpiece in artistic design), totk, and smash brawl too, but those are my top 10 by far. And no... I definitely do not have a nintendo bias.
I wanna share my all time top games 1) Pokemon Sapphire (Nintendo/Gamefreak) 2) Bastion (Supergiant Games) 3 Street Fighter III: Third Strike (Capcom) 4) Smash Ultimate (Nintendo/Sora Ltd.)
It’s so hard to do a list like this…. I feel like my choices would change depending on how I’m feeling. But I do have to say, that I have no doubt that FF7 Rebirth will become my favorite game of all time.
Unfortunately when you become a fully blown adult with responsibilities there's no longer any way something can become a favourite of all time. Experiences as a child are untouchable, nothing with ever come close to gaming between the ages of 3-15/16. I just hope Rebirth can be at least up there with my games of the year. It'll be another divisive as fuck game, that's for sure! I'm expecting metacritic to be full of 0's and 100's.
@@upon-fe2720 Honestly, I felt exactly like you did. Until I played Remake…..I legitimately felt like a kid again. Like the very first time I played FFX!! And I’ve never been this excited about a game before. Even as a 32 year old. I’m more excited now than I was when Uncharted 2 was announced, more than when Batman: Arkham City was announced, more than when Assassin’s Creed II was announced, more than when RDR2, or when Horizon Forbidden West was announced….. I mean I legitimately can’t think of a game I’ve ever been more excited about!
I'm 21yo, and thanks to Max I could go out of my confort zone to try a lot of games and also appreciate most of different genres, even more when I was just a gamer of First Person Shooters, then with some friends started playing UMvC3 competitively to later on watching my first , MaxDood video on MvCI "Double Dante Trouble", and since then I'm here enjoying almost at the same way at he does. This vid maded my night!
For me, as a person who asks himself these questions about GOAT from time to time over many years of his life, what’s interesting is not even what games Max chose, but why he chose them and what guided him in placing this or that higher. I’m still not sure that I know how I would compose and do it in a way that would suit me if there was a goal. Nostalgia ? First gaming experience? The most important games? The best games in terms of gameplay or emotions and history that are still with me or when you hear music you understand and remember the best moments in your life with this game and the time you were in? It seems to me that these are all factors together, on the contrary, I like to return to old games, especially those that I missed and play through them, and when they turn out to be one of the best, if not my favorite, even despite their age, this says a lot. It's scary to replay your old favorite games (from the old PC and PS1 times, for example). Max talks a lot about influence and significance and what these games were in the past and I myself understand and appreciate it, but if you think about it like that, it doesn’t mean “GOAT”, even for you, it’s a bit of self-deception, because you understand that there are similar or even remakes/sequels of these games that are better. For example, with fighting games, almost like this, I still don’t understand how all the critics and some people call SF2 the best (the most important - okay, maybe) fighting game, and the original one, considering how many versions there were, usually just the most complete versions, improved, with the maximum amount of content and the most complete roster and should be the best, and people choose barebone projects, this is just strange to me, or do they mean all versions, which is also somewhat wrong in this case, it’s like choosing the best games by naming a whole series at once . Therefore.. I think ideally look for the totality of all the factors that are important only to you and at least replay it sooner or later as an adult and if it is still fun, great and significant and the best for you - then this is your GOTY so far or for the first time ( as I described the examples), it seems to me that ideally you need to find a balance, because if you are Locked in all games, you won’t let anything new into the best ones, but you shouldn’t forget about the old either. For example, I don’t think that FF8 is the best game subjectively and objectively so far for me, but I know that it is the most important game in my life that opened up for me a new look at all video games as media and art and showed what video games can do.
Can I even make a top 10? I'll try, I know these oldies have been consistently on my top throughout my life. 1. FF7 and the Remake Trilogy (yeah this is kinda cheating but I love them both equally) 2. Chrono Trigger (this one is actually tied with my #1 which I can't decide which I like better) 3. Mario Bros 3 (#3 and 4 are also tied as I can't decide which I like better) 4. Mario 64 5. Xenogears 6. Killer Instinct (the game that got me into fighting games) 7. Marvel vs Capcom 2 (the fighting game that had the greatest impact in my life) 8. Dragon Ball FighterZ (my current favorite fighting game, #6-8 can be in any order) 9. Sonic 3 & Knuckles 10. Resident Evil 4
Good list, i wish i saw Chrono Trigger in Max's list as well, it's a very similar game in many ways to FF7 but it has even more world maps, characterizations, quests etc.
@@IdkAkaIdk I wonder if Max ever even played this gem, if not he missed out since I never even heard him talk about it. Chrono Trigger was one of those gems you had to experience during the 90's to truly appreciate how mind-blowing it was at the time it came out, even though the game truly is a timeless masterpiece and can be enjoyed even to this day.
My top 15: 15.) Mortal Kombat (2011) 14.) Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (2005) 13.) Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening (2005) 12.) Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018) 11.) Alien: Isolation (2014) 04.) Metal Gear Solid (1998) 03.) The Last of Us (2013) 02.) Resident Evil (2002) 01.) Silent Hill 2 (2001)
Wonerful list. I always appreciate a top 10/15 HOF that makes me look into a few suggsestions that I may have overlooked or missed. Choices are so subjective and generally based on personal, emotional or historic meaning. Case in point is that I appreciate every game on this list but only RE4 would maybe squek into my top ten. Excellent work Dood.
I don't fully agree with/understand Max's belief that impact makes a game superior. Sure, a game can be iconic and revolutionary, but if you had more fun with what it inspired/what released after it, then why not say it's better? Enjoyment is what matters the most, in my opinion.
I agree. I think max loved those games but uses the "it was revolutionary" trope as a means of reasoning why it's up there for him, almost like he's defending it which is very weird coming from him.
While i agree with you, impact is also inspirational, giving birth to entire genres and the amount of emotional memories it leaves with it's time passage makes it more precious as well.
It’s so hard to make a top list, but as of right now I’d have to say my top 15 games would be: Final Fantasy VII Remake Final Fantasy X The Last of Us Horizon Zero Dawn God of War Ragnarok Batman: Arkham Asylum Batman: Arkham City Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Red Dead Redemption 2 Banjo-Kazooie Dead Space 2 Days Gone Resident Evil 2 Remake Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Assassin’s Creed 2
My top 10, if anyone is interested in a random top 10. LOL. 1. Metal Gear Solid 2. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt 3. Half-Life 4. Dark Souls III 5. NieR: Automata 6. Resident Evil 3 (1999) 7. Persona 5 Royal 8. Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition 9. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice 10. Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2
@@IdkAkaIdkhard disagree. Likewise with donguri, it's the best one in the series for its combat. 5 is more refined but is piss easy. 3 is nice and hard but has limitations over your moveset. 4, despite its many flaws, it doesn't have either of those issues, and for people that ONLY care for the combat experience and have spent thousands of hrs into these games, it comes out at the top. A list is ultimately what YOU had most fun with after all.
RE4 Remake stands shoulder to shoulder with the original RE4 to me personally. They're both obviously very similar yet different in their own ways and both of them are absolute masterpieces. Everything the remake introduced as something new was perfect imo and only benefited the overall experience. I still can't believe Capcom managed to pull off such an impossible feat and made a remake that is on the same level as the original, at least to me.
Feels like a lot of Americans are into Nintendo (I know Nintendo sold and marketed better in America and Sega better in Europe and South America) so it's great Max knows and loves so many Sega games. Also PSO is interesting, I think I have that on Dreamcast but haven't played it, you can actually play it online now through some means. I do have Phantasy Star on Sega Master System though, cool for an early RPG.
maddest respect for PSO, i'm only 23 but i remember playing the PSU demo on the 360 and I fell in love with it. PSO started to gain my interest when I was around 9-10 and just here recently (within the last year) my brother and my buddy from high school started a playthrough together and all I can say is what a time that must've been when that game was released
Not trying to start an argument but I dont get all the love for bloodborne. I finished all the from software souls games besides ds2 and i would put elden ring, ds1 and sekiro all ahead of bloodborne.
I mean I can tell you my number 1, which is Half-Life 2. Although... A top 15 list of my favorites games of all-time is pretty tricky. I'd definitely have to think about it.

The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match 12. Street Fighter ALPHA 2 13. Super Mario 3D World 14. DOOM Eternal 15. Chrono Trigger
im 26 years old so a lot of these games were unknown to me but honestly my number one game of all time is monster hunter world. I was a newcomer to the series and it started with seeing all cool things Yovideogames did in the beta. Got the game day one and had a blast playing it solo. Then eventually all my friends got tired of me not playing with and tried the game out so I made a new profile, picked a new weapon and taught them how to play. I did this at least 4 times and it was AMAZINGLY fun with all the epic and hilarious moments. I never had as much fun with any other game and it also helped get me off of league of legends and try other games so it not only was a great game on its own, it also introduced to me other games so I'm forever grateful for it.
I started DDR when Extreme came out and I think it was the last DDR game before Konami started to be more conservative with the franchise. I live in Montreal and we couldn't get access to the new DDRs because we don't have Round 1 and Dave & Busters there, so our arcade dance game fix are Pump It Up & StepManiaX now. Btw, I would like to you or the YOVG crew to pass Max300 Single Expert :D
My problem with this list is that I'm not much younger than you, and I've only played 3 games on it. 2 of those I only played once at someone else's house (CODMW and DDR). The only one I owned was SF2, and it was just okay. I played SF2 on PC with a keyboard against the computer, because I had no one to play against.
FF9, FF7, Halo 1-4, Mass effect 2, Majoras Mask, Twilight princess, Mario Galaxy, PSO, RE4, Sukioden 2, BOTW, GTA Vice city, MW2, Black ops, Devil May cry 3, Mario 64, MKX, FF6, Pokémon Heart Gold, Onimusha, Beyond Good and Evil ( this game made me think about weird stuff as a kid in 2003, I think the aesthetic?) Kingdom hearts, Kingdom hearts 2, MGS2, MGS snake eater, Sly Cooper 1-2, FFXII, Madworld, Parasite Eve, I-Ninja, The Simpsons Hit and Run, Gears of war 1-3, Dead Space 1-2. I’m sure I’m missing others but those are games I could play over and over again and never get bored or tired. Many are Nostalgic picks for me.

Inspired me to make my own list on the sight I actually ranked my top 60 games of all time I was shocked I was able to actually do it with so many games
"Why do you prefer originals to remakes" hurts... that hurts me a lot. If i think about games like movies it is totally possible for remakes to be "better", though i'm only really thinking of The Thing right now, if they remade Die Hard i just can't imagine that ever EVER being "better", you can't recapture that magic. I have to keep putting "better" in air quotes because of the idea that the quality of games, similar to music, is subjective and shouldn't be measured, but games are so much more complex than music that i think it's totally fair to compare them. There's almost nothing i dislike about RE4 but there's quite a few things that i think were worse and some things i outright didn't like about the remake, and that's kind of how i feel about all video game remakes so far, Dead Space is very similar to the original but it has a few minor issues, i have a friend who is Max levels of obsessed about FF7 and he hates the remake, the upcoming MGS3 remake looks very high fidelity but it seems like it's lost all of its character, we'll have to wait to see how that turns out. There might be one outlier for me, Black Mesa, most of the time it's not necessarily "better" it's just "different", it recreates everything you remember from Half Life but through a slightly more refined lens, but then you get to Xen where it's hard to argue that it's not just an absolute incredible improvement, giving the original a final chapter or two that it could not deliver in 1998 but does now and barely fumbles at all. That's not something i can say about any other remake we've seen, does it replace Half Life? No, you can't recapture that Goldsrc magic, no matter what the game if you don't check out the original you will be missing something.
Maybe it is just me, but surely Max Dood is due for "modern day" playthrough of Final Fantasy VII, given it has been roughly 8 year since his last streamed run of the game?
Final fantasy 11 needs to make it into the top 15. 1st cross platform game and has stood the test of time. You can go play ffxi today and have a ton of fun while the graphics have aged nicely over the years.

@@simongomes7250 While I don't agree with that ranking, either, you have to take into account that Max has said he loves sci-fi/Alien-inspired stuff WAY more than medieval fantasy, so that's obviously going to affect his tastes. No Final Fantasy 9. no Skies of Arcadia. No Tales of Symphonia. yet... Mega Man 2!? oh, come on. nostalgia doing alot of lifting here for MM2 i think, max.
About FF7, I just need to thanks Max because I discovered FF7 through his channel and I had the chance to play the remake when PS plus gave the game (I never played a FF game in my life before it), and that game came in a time where my mental sanity was so low that the only time I had fun in my days were playing the remake while I could meet the lovely characters and history around. I played the original after and it was like I was a child again having fun with simple yet touching games. This game was so important to me as well that in August I even used the main theme as my graduation entrance song.
All this talk of FFXI reminds me: Didn't Max used to play the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, which includes a free trial that includes the entirety of "A Realm Reborn" and the award-winning "Heavensward" expansion and _also_ the award-winning "Stormblood" expansion up to level 70 for free with no restrictions on playtime?

@@lowbarscooter Woahwoahwoah there buddy, FF7 has NOT been beaten in music. 100%.
Whos the blue chick in the thumbnail?
I remember my friend being so hyped for resident evil 4 he bought over his entire GameCube and we played through the entire campaign
I like bringing my gamecube over in halves across 2 trips
2000s gaming culture will never be topped
Crazy Taxi is so much fun, spent so much time on it myself on dreamcast.
Hello no those games was ass 😂
what we need is a remake that WONT take music out of it, or at least give it some non issue music
Same man
Doing these lists are so much fun, but so SO difficult. It's great seeing how others lists come together, you see what the grew up with.
My top list:
1. Final Fantasy 7
2. Ocarina of Time
3. Elden Ring
4. Final Fantasy 7 Remake
5. Bloodborne
6. A Link to the Past
7. Final Fantasy 9
8. Heroes 3
9. Dockey Kong Country 2
10. Dark Souls
I love your list
@fioravibes6406 I like your list but for me ER is better then ff7 remake ans rebirth.
Props for having Returnal in the full list. Such a brilliant game and one of the highlights of this gen for sure.
Still the best ps5 game to date. A lot of people simply didnt play it so they dont know.
I'd be very curious to see lists from simmons, kenny and steve. We've heard the discussions and we've seen the streams, but having a definitive for each dood would be fun to see.
Simmons would probably have more RPGs on his list.
Simmons gotta have his Xeno. Kenny is MK or powerstone. Steeb is MK but definitely GTA.
I think our choices are made by the memories we had of our first playthrough. That's why on my list, i would have put FF8 there for the graphics on PSX and the intro who blew my mind 25 years ago. Today, people would laugh about them but when it came out, i realized videogames could be like this.
My top 25 would be (in no order because i don't feel like taking all day to think on it)

Wow this a fkin awesome list
Oh boy well in honor of nobody asking but I love discussing it, Ive got myself a top 10 list and some tidbits about why i love them!
1- hollow knight: incredible gameplay, bosses, soundtrack, world, and one of the best stories thats passively told to you instead of ham fisted through miles of text. Team cherry managed to create the best metroidvania period, and deserve nothing but the highest praise IMO (plus its like $15)
2. Twilight princess: midna, its just midna, I love the game and the dungeons, but midna is like my favorite character ever i love her.
3. Mario galaxy 1- some of the tightest focus for level design ive ever seen, incredibly fun mechanics, and pure quality
6. Bowsers inside story- mario RPG to its best (never played TTYD), and you get to play as bowser, its incredible
7. Super metroid- holy shit this game is just amazing
8. Xenoblade 3- made me cry LIKE🙏 A🙏 BITCH🙏 love mio shes fantastic
9. Dkc tropical freeze- grassland groove is the best level in any game Ive ever experienced, and it puts 2d mario to absolute shame
I'd like to see Max play the Metal Gear Solid games. The Master Collection is pretty fucking good with some mods.
Cool to see his side of his favorites because for me it's different
List them below
Big one for me is that I would have Elden Ring, DS1 and Sekiro all ahead of bloodborne@@mbphilipblack8993

1) Pokemon Sapphire (Nintendo/Gamefreak)
2) Bastion (Supergiant Games)
3 Street Fighter III: Third Strike (Capcom)
4) Smash Ultimate (Nintendo/Sora Ltd.)
thank you for the game recommendations Max. Currently trying to 100% Fallout 3 so maybe I'll play something from this list
Looking through the comments and man, a lot of you don't know what a PERSONAL list is.
It’s so hard to do a list like this….
I feel like my choices would change depending on how I’m feeling.
But I do have to say, that I have no doubt that FF7 Rebirth will become my favorite game of all time.
The only way I could feel is just putting all monster hunter games in the list lmfao. And dark souls, gotta put dark souls in
Unfortunately when you become a fully blown adult with responsibilities there's no longer any way something can become a favourite of all time.
1. FF7 and the Remake Trilogy (yeah this is kinda cheating but I love them both equally)
2. Chrono Trigger (this one is actually tied with my #1 which I can't decide which I like better)
3. Mario Bros 3 (#3 and 4 are also tied as I can't decide which I like better)
4. Mario 64
5. Xenogears
6. Killer Instinct (the game that got me into fighting games)
7. Marvel vs Capcom 2 (the fighting game that had the greatest impact in my life)
8. Dragon Ball FighterZ (my current favorite fighting game, #6-8 can be in any order)
9. Sonic 3 & Knuckles
This is a very respectable list. Great to see Xenogears and Sonic 3 & Knuckles get some love.
My top 15:
15.) Mortal Kombat (2011)
14.) Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (2005)
13.) Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening (2005)
12.) Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018)
11.) Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (2009)
10.) Shadow of the Colossus (2005)
09.) Hitman: Blood Money (2006)
08.) Dead Space 2 (2011)
07.) God of War 3 (2010)
06.) Batman: Arkham Origins (2013)
05.) Alien: Isolation (2014)
04.) Metal Gear Solid (1998)
03.) The Last of Us (2013)
02.) Resident Evil (2002)
01.) Silent Hill 2 (2001)
Wonerful list. I always appreciate a top 10/15 HOF that makes me look into a few suggsestions that I may have overlooked or missed. Choices are so subjective and generally based on personal, emotional or historic meaning. Case in point is that I appreciate every game on this list but only RE4 would maybe squek into my top ten. Excellent work Dood.
Pretty decent list, Black Ops 4 being in his top 50 is WILD though.
For me personally I'd categorize by genre, and pick my favorite from each of those to form my top 15 list,
2:14 yeah with Tenchu: Stealth Assassins one of the first big stealth games 1998.
Also one of the best games
You have one of the most interesting lists out there.
I don't fully agree with/understand Max's belief that impact makes a game superior. Sure, a game can be iconic and revolutionary, but if you had more fun with what it inspired/what released after it, then why not say it's better? Enjoyment is what matters the most, in my opinion.
Agreed. I’ve always disliked the perspective that impact trumps all regardless of what came after was better.
@@R-vm2mf Exactly!
Without impact how many lists with games like Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time would actually be that way lmao
It’s so hard to make a top list, but as of right now I’d have to say my top 15 games would be:
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Final Fantasy X
The Last of Us
Horizon Zero Dawn
God of War Ragnarok
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Batman: Arkham City
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Red Dead Redemption 2
Banjo-Kazooie
Dead Space 2
Days Gone
Resident Evil 2 Remake
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Assassin’s Creed 2
My top 10, if anyone is interested in a random top 10. LOL.
1. Metal Gear Solid
2. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt
3. Half-Life
4. Dark Souls III
5. NieR: Automata
6. Resident Evil 3 (1999)
7. Persona 5 Royal
8. Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition
9. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
10. Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2
devil May Cry FOUR Special Edition? You wildin' out here brother. 4 is almost as bad as 2
@@IdkAkaIdkhard disagree.
Please, play MGS on stream, upload it on youtube, I would love to see how you play through that.
And they did it with Re2 as well. Capcom has been killing it
I think RE4 Original is way above RE4 Remake
I fucking love Max! Especially since he fucks with Bloodborne so tough
Here are my Top 15 games:
1. Thumper
2. Metroid Dread
3. Battle Garegga
4. Gradius V
5. R-TYPE DELTA
6. Ninja Gaiden Black
7. Celeste
8. Meteos
9. Hydro Thunder
10. Streets of Rage 4
11. The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match
12. Street Fighter ALPHA 2
13. Super Mario 3D World
14. DOOM Eternal
15. Chrono Trigger
I’m really surprised to see FF7 Remake so low on the list….
glad to see PSO getting some well deserved love!
im 26 years old so a lot of these games were unknown to me but honestly my number one game of all time is monster hunter world. I never had as much fun with any other game and it also helped get me off of league of legends and try other games so it not only was a great game on its own, it also introduced to me other games so I'm forever grateful for it.
kinda shocked BFTG didn't make it in the top 50 ish, I recall max really enjoying that game despite not being a big PR guy
Yo, shoutout to all the DDR players who can still play their songs on Project Outfox to this day.
I would pay and subscribe to see that
Brother watching you play split second with everyone has been hilarious 😂
Max is the reason I became good at fighting games and considered giving other genres a chance. Love the diversity of games.

Inspired me to make my own list on the sight
I actually ranked my top 60 games of all time
I was shocked I was able to actually do it with so many games
Had no idea he was a PSO fan. That game was quite special! Also had many sleepless nights playing 3rd Strike with my buddies :)
Final fantasy 11 needs to make it into the top 15. 1st cross platform game and has stood the test of time. You can go play ffxi today and have a ton of fun while the graphics have aged nicely over the years.

@@StabbyRocketJoe Weeeell..... That is a huge shame, on both. Max kinda admitted in one of his Goty vids recently that NieR Automata is better than people think quz many ppl just goes ¨i beat the final boss, time to review the game¨ but, it's much more than that.
@@StabbyRocketJoe I wonder what version he tried. I was reluctant on the ds version for a long time but recently decided i'll go against my console-only mindset & play it through & beat it. I, like Max viewed FF7 as #1 but Chrono Trigger is THAT ONE GAME that actually finally surpassed it to me.
Max has very eclectic tastes for his top games.
Damn, Returnal above Elden Ring? Returnal was good, but not 'Elden Ring good' imo.
Facts, he’s being delusional
@@simongomes7250 While I don't agree with that ranking, either, you have to take into account that Max has said he loves sci-fi/Alien-inspired stuff WAY more than medieval fantasy, so that's obviously going to affect his tastes. It's also why he ranks Bloodborne so much higher compared to the other Souls games.
It's his personal list, nothing delusional about liking what you like.
It would be a boring video if his list was : *Opens Metacritic* #1 OoT #2 Tony Hawk 2 #3 GTA4 and he kept going down the list.
@@simongomes7250lmao 🤡
Delusional for stating what he likes more which doesn't align with your likeness! Keep going clown, you're hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣
For each their own.
I wouldn't include Returnal even in Top-100
It's really hard to do an objective top 10 or 15 of all time, but I can agree with most of this. Solid list.
I never caught the stream if Max discussed it, and I didn't see it back in the previous video to where he was picking the games out
but I didn't see Alien: Isolation, wonder why
Granted a lot of games on this list really blows it out of the water lol stay awesome Max!
It's mostly just nostalgia with Max, and I can't really blame him, some games from Psx era are in my top 15 as well.
Max, your reaction to DMC 5 and the review? You forgot that?
No Final Fantasy 9. no Skies of Arcadia. No Tales of Symphonia. yet... Mega Man 2!?
oh, come on. nostalgia doing alot of lifting here for MM2 i think, max.
Max said it best it’s like choosing between your family you know you have favorites but… they are family ya know
About FF7, I just need to thanks Max because I discovered FF7 through his channel and I had the chance to play the remake when PS plus gave the game (I never played a FF game in my life before it), and that game came in a time where my mental sanity was so low that the only time I had fun in my days were playing the remake while I could meet the lovely characters and history around. I played the original after and it was like I was a child again having fun with simple yet touching games.
This game was so important to me as well that in August I even used the main theme as my graduation entrance song.
That's awesome
All this talk of FFXI reminds me: Didn't Max used to play the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, which includes a free trial that includes the entirety of "A Realm Reborn" and the award-winning "Heavensward" expansion and _also_ the award-winning "Stormblood" expansion up to level 70 for free with no restrictions on playtime?
My number 1 game is Street Fighter 3 Third Strike, its by far the best game of all time.
Anyone that knows Max, knew the top three games already 😂
PSO was special. It would be top 15 for me too! Great list Max.
Doesn't even have Outer Wilds at No.1
My top games would be like sonic 2, spyro 2, crash 2, kingdom hearts 1, farcry 6, ff7 remake, spiderman, spiderman miles morales, yazuka like a dragon, lost judgement 2, ffx, ff12, a.c 2, a.c origins, persona 5 royal.
I think this is decently balanced for me between new and old games. Influences for me time played and feelings. This isnt in the order id pick and some of these games i wouldnt wanna play now. But overall feeling that would be mine not in that order ofcourse.
Not sure if I'm missing a lot for not playing the original FF7 back then. I loved the FF 7 remake for playing it without prior knowledge about the plot.
Yooo PSO was the shit back on Dreamcast. I remember playing on a dial-up connection. We would always have to fight over the phone line with the family 😂
Ill throw my list here. It's always wild to me when people don't have Nintendo games on thier lists, but I grew up with it so I'm biased lol. Not much order either

I saw the thumbnail and I thought he'd added MGS2. He'd be absolutely right to do so but it'd be surprising if he had.
Having only discovered House of Dead Scarlet Dawn recently at the arcade, @Max do you think you do a top 15 arcade games of all time?
DDR is legendary. i've played over 100 games since the beginning of COVID, and yet it's this old-ass arcade game that can easily top them all.
Ff7 my number 1, too :-)

I dedicated the last 2 years into making my own top 100 and I finally did it.
It feels great to have played most of the games that I really wanted to play after a long Hiatus that kept me away from gaming.
Its my fave game of all time but it REALLY surprises me Max has got metal gear solid in his top 10, i dont think ive ever even heard him mention it before! 👍🏻
My top 15 (not in order):
Dark Souls 1
Nioh 2
FF9
FF12 Zodiac age
Dragon Quest 11
Soul Reaver

Mass effect 2
Onimusha: Dawn of dreams
RE4
RE4 remake
Evil within 2
Xcom 2 WotC
Xcom 2 wotc 👀
My dude 👍
Soul Reaver was dope
Tough list to make. Mine would be mostly 16 bit era games, as that was my golden age for gaming. Mostly rpgs, fighting games and platformers.
I love gaming!
Boggles my mind that Elden Ring couldn't even grasp the 15th slot
I think having a effect on his life is part of it. ER is just another game for him compare to say something like FF7.
Yeah as he said this is definitely a list made based on how he responded to it when he played it. Im young enough where Elden Ring would still easily make my top 15 (21 y/o). But im just old enough to appreciate the impact certain games made on me that are older. My best example being that pokemon black/white 2 is probably one of my favorite games of all time even though objectively there's dozens or hundreds of games that are "objectively" better than that one. @@yrh002b8
Just how much of Elden Ring did you play, out of curiosity? Quz i know alot of people 10/10d that game without knowing its ins & outs.
