Charley Pride Yonder Comes a Sucker Lyrics
Railroad steamboat river and cannal yonder comes a sucker and he's got my girl
And she's gone gone gone gone and she's gone gone gone
And I'll bid her my last farewell
I fell in love with a pretty little thing I thought that wedding bells would ring
She was as sweet as sweet could be till I found out what she did to me
Railroad steamboat...
I asked her mother to let her go she whispered mother please tell him no
Though he may think that I am true there's plenty more who think so too
Railroad steamboat...
I won't cry my life away some other sucker will have to pay
And when he finds that she is gone I guess I'll hear him sing this song
Railroad steamboat...
And I'll bid her my last farewell

RIP Charlie, one of the best voices in country music history and a wonderful human being. This must have been on Buck Owens Ranch Show. Looks like the Buckaroos playing behind him.
Backed by Dangerous Don Rich and the Buckaroos!!
Great version of Jim Reeves song from late 50s or so.
Written by Jim Reeves and released in 1955.
Charley Pride was really country music. Saw him back in the 70's in Lubbock...my mom just love him!
He loved doing Jim Reeves songs like this one. He recorded a great Jim Reeves album in 2001. It's worth listening to.
I loved his song, Mississippi Cotten Picking Delta Town. I think it must have been a recollection of his younger days.
These uploads are great 🙌👏 love seeing new ranch videos I haven't seen before. RIP Charley and the Buckaroos 🤍
A true honky tonk legend
Love Charley Pride ♥️👍 RIP dear Charley and thanks for the memories of my life 🥀
Pretty neat Charlie Pride singing a song written by Gentleman Jim Reeves
I have been a country fan since I was able to listen to the radio in 1952. I remember the great Hank Williams and my mom's cousins, The Wilburn Brothers from here in Hardy, AR, made it big in Nashville. I became a musician in the early 60s and was proud to say our group appeared on the Slim Rodes Show twice, once with Narvel Felts, helped other bands front for Bobby Bare and Johnny Tillitson in 65 and we also opened once for Crystal Gayle in 75 when she came to Hardy. Of all the country artists, there were and are none finer than Charley Pride. He was a true country artist and one of the very best representative's county music ever nourished. I wish they could make then like him again!
Love Charley Pride. Got to see him person at the Grand Ole Opryland in June 1998!
