instead of welding straight to metal on main rod cut round hole run it through a ways then weld it and maybe double up on them if you know what i mean. seems like a weak point to weld the metal round rod to ears holding it
Yes I thought about that but I was very curious how it would do withought it. The trailer was actually involved In an accident and I'm going to be rebuilding the front. I will also do an update on the ramps.
10:27 you should of put a grease fitting on it, what's going to happen is rust will build between each tube making it impossible to move the ramps also it'll help with any wear from metal to metal contact. personally i would have kept the middle support in since you're relying on so little material, there's an old saying "an inch of good weld can carry a ton" meaning each pipe attachment to the trailer is able to carry about a ton meaning around 2 ton per ramp which sounds good and all but then you've got lever multiplier meaning the total strength is less than that probably around a ton. adding that extra one back in however not only shortens the lever length but also add's a ton extra strength. without the loss of pipe to pipe contact area. to make it even stronger still i would brace both ramps together and make it into a beaver styled ramp meaning you haven't lost the ability to move smaller machinery since you're ramps are fixed.
On this application the grease will attract and hold dirt. This trailer gets backed into dirt piles often. I am not sure the tabs on the end are strong enough to hold the bar without a center support so the whole thing is a trial. I did not charge for this and it is a friends trailer so if something lets go I will re configure it.
@penguinsgarage right on that's what I planned on and I'm going to do like your first plan was but im planning on 1/2 thick steel with the center bracket
want i have done made th metal addustion box i put the ramps on reaches out 2 more feet it is a bite heavy for me i do struggle with then putting on to the trailer afterward i am 100 pound wet my uncle keep saying to me lolmy hight is on the short side too enough with the short joke yes I am standing up lol
i was on the side of the road with a blown engine lol a month-old semi-truck blew a hole through the side of the engine not an easy way to get one unhooked from the trailer too my driver had a weld load on that truck yes we did buy the truck for this propose we had trouble with that type of engine had them in our tractors to the same problem blow the hole throw the engine like a hand grenade blow a hole throw the side of them my family does have a few companies we own one that is hauling oversized loads or loves weight loads to custom trailers too the police were very helpful and let just tow it to a safer place to get the load off the highway old server station was there at one time 8 hour later we got that truck pull out and the new truck under it 8 hours to rehook the truck back up i have steering at the back end of the trailer both sides do have a driver for it
Nice work
Thanks

infact if you do it that way could probably fabricate a way to remove the ramps all together if needed

So just in case you want to or have to remove the ramps, now you have to cut the welds ?
Yes in this case that is what he wanted.
How long are them ramps? I'm going to do the same kind of thing to my trailer, but I was going for 5 foot ramps them looked longer than 5 foot
They are 5'

enough with the short joke yes I am standing up lol
What about a gusset on the ramp that would go under the c-channel when you fold down the ramps to take the weight off the pipes?
That's what the legs are for.

my family does have a few companies we own one that is hauling oversized loads or loves weight loads to custom trailers too the police were very helpful and let just tow it to a safer place to get the load off the highway old server station was there at one time 8 hour later we got that truck pull out and the new truck under it 8 hours to rehook the truck back up i have steering at the back end of the trailer both sides do have a driver for it
Well you know what they say it's a woman's prerogative to change their mind just joking brother
