I just had my 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD give me the Err P2493 and P140A. the cp4 crap out on me 4 years ago 3 months after I had just bought it and it cost me $12k to fix it. Heard it’s like $2k to fix this ERG problem. I honestly don’t wanna drop that much in fixing it. Is it worth doing the work to fixing the EGR cooler bypass myself if the trucks got 235k miles on it?
This job was not to bad to do so I would say yes. this is something you can handle if you are mechanical inclined. This particular truck now has around 260k on it. Emissions have been a problem all along with this truck and the cp4 did go out 1 time on it. We went back with another cp4 instead of the cp3 but as long as no blow by on the motor I would fix it.
They don’t listen to the spotters!
Who?
I’m thinking we pull the duramax out and slap it in my Tacoma. What do you think can you make it happen??
And make it unreliable lol
Beautiful rig Done right! Keep the videos flowing!
Thanks 👍
LOL Can you send Andrew to MA? We need to do a 13 codes P24C4 and P2493. Interestingly enough we're not getting the limp messages. Also getting the P11CB but that seems to be another issue not related
Lol. I'll get him on a plane right away lol
Such a fun trail. Seems to be a new line everytime. May go tomorrow
thx for the post, that looked like fun, i gotta check it out
Wish I could like this video twice. Big flex from the taco. 💪 🌮
Appreciat that!!
Buy the valve for $250 and just swap the new valve cover for the original. It’s the circuit board in the valve cover that usually fails…You’ll need an allen T25 torx for the cover bolts and/or a mini craftsman offset ratchet that takes torx bits. If you need to replace the electric motor that’s under the cover you’ll need a T20 bit to remove those 2 screws. Also VERY EASY. Google dieselplace or duramaxforum for more info on all this. Less than 2 hours work. Verrry easy. I saved $4,250 which is what the dealership quoted to do the valve replacement.
Being turbocharged your power loss at altitude is significantly less than that 45% that you looked up. This is why WW2 aircraft used them so heavily so they could still make power at 30,000+ feet. The 3% power loss per 1,000 feet of elevation rule is for naturally aspirated engines.
Hell yeah dude! As always a joy to watch the Tacoma dance. Keep up the good work!
Thank you
hello a have cuestion for you boss

Awesome Video Own my own shop but always nice to have a video to follow if you are doing a job you are doing for the first time. Customer will be happy Using a stop watch so he will save some $$
Glad I could help. We do the same thing
@@penguinsgarage Wish you would have added tips on installing the turbo inlet plastic piece of **** coming up on the 4 hour mark and can't get that mother F Patience Tongue on the right side
Holy Mother I think the turbo inlet out and in was the hardest part of the job....

How do you like the ori struts ? Worth the $ ?
Only have 1 trip on them. Having trouble with 1 of them I'll talk about that on next video. Seam great on keeping me stable and not unloading like coilovers do
I want to get some for the rear of my 03 tacoma dc and 3 link it BUT $3600 having hard time justifying it… and no real world experience with them either…
You do not need the reservoir ones like I got they are way overkill. Jensen brothers have them for 1100 ea
I’m the school of thought buy once cry once so I will still get the reservoirs and Jensen bros is exactly where I was planning to buy Did you get 1/2 or 5/8 miss alignment spacers? looking forward to your down the re thoughts on the ori’s keep us updated thanks bro !
I did 1/2". Unless you are going to jump the truck alot bypass is not needed
So fucken sick my dude! A great way to start the weekend. Keep up the good work my dude!
Ahh it’s gonna be a good friday
Well, I have a P24C4 code with a description of "EGR Cooler Bypass Valve Position Sensor Exceeded Learning Limit." Is the sensor pretty much the black plastic piece? And if so, is it possible to just buy a new Bypass valve, and swap out the black plastic pieces rather than replacing the whole thing? I'm not nearly as mechanically inclined as y'all, I don't have all the necessary tools, and just don't feel confident in replacing the whole thing.
I do not know if you can or not, but I would not due to the mechanical side could be stuck. Also the egr cooler probubly needs to be cleaned also. If your near SD I would be happy to help you with it
@@penguinsgarage Thank you for the quick reply and offer to help. Unfortunately I'm out here in Commi-fornia. By the way, your video was great

Im glad to hear that. Are you going to make your own.
@@penguinsgarage going with that plate style mount that bolt to the rear most case rather than the bottom.
Right on. I love how everyone builds different even thought we are building the same rig. Lots of cool ideas
Pretty sweet rig!!
Thanks 👍
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Brother who’s your supplier for the lines. Online prices are ridiculous and I might be in the need to even longer lines for the back 👀
I had a local company make the first set and then another local made the 2nd set.
Local company and yes they are surprisingly expensive
Awesome rig brother!
Assume Brotha!
thank you
Hate not having a parking brake. Thanks for the insight on the e-brake layout. Also 2wd radiators are shorter than 4wd units.
What e brake kit did you end up with? Part number or link?
Here is the lines I used. I will still need to mess with it because it is not pulling as hard as it needs to hold. I will re visit this in the future and give full details when I have it perfected. amzn.to/4bbG71a
@penguinsgarage thanks for the insite. Was thinking of just eliminating the e brake cable and going with a line lock version only. But now i think ill do both ways just for safe measures. The build is looking good. Hope to have my tundra done soon as well.
Motor mounts were a smart move! so cool to see the cad work 👌 👏
Thanks 👍
@penguinsgarage what were those coils/shocks/struts you used on your axels? I know you mentioned it but I was wondering why you went with that brand instead of fox or king?
I went with ORI, I choose them because you do not need limit straps, bump stops, or to worry about spring rates. Everything is self contained. I bought them threw justice Brothers and they have great support. Trail mater uses them on his buggy and I am seeing them on a ton of vehicles for offroad. There weekspot is high speed desert racing for a long period of time they get hot and don't work as well. But that's after an hr 50mph plus threw huge whoops. I have .3 miles on them at this point so I will do a follow up after a few runs.
Don't know to be honest
Did you run from south to north?
i do not know to be honest
Is your pitman arm the same length as the distance from the center of the knuckle to drag link mounting hole on the passenger hi-steer arm?
No it is not. The bj to drag link is 11" pitman arm is 6.5 what does that change?
That’s why they’re known as China Gear.
I have a turbo on my 03 tacoma dc I LOVE IT ! currently on 10 psi safe average rule of thumb is 1 hp per 1 psi so around 100 extra made a world of difference it’s tearing up my rear end lol
I was thinking about a turbo. What did you use? Did you change injectors or tune?
^ 10 hp per 1 psi
Lookin good sir!
Another 1 for my morning commute let’s go!
I do the same thing.
Low low low low Locked locked gang 🙌🏻
Man been following for a long time ! Time to take this baby for a ride! Anxiously waiting for my nwf eco crawler!
I appreciate you! Yes I have hit some snags but am working threw them. All part of the process. You will love the nwf eco crawler. Don't forget to remove the pill that locks out low when in 2wd.
@@penguinsgaragenah dude all good. I’ll keep the J patter on the main and fwd movement for the eco-crawler.
Dude you could totally thread a nipple in!!!
It was consensual😂
Let’s go! Another one!
I'm hopping to drive it this weekend. We will see but I'm dedicated to finishing content and this build. Thank you for your support along the way!
Can you post a shopping list for the brake retrofit stuff?
@brucekhim3304 do you mean for the I booster?
How long did it take
I believe about 5hrs total but it was a while ago
How much do you think that thing now weighs?
I have no idea. I really only changed the unsprung weight but ifbi had to guess I added atleast 800 pounds. I'm going to weigh it when it's done. The bumpers are going to add weight also
Dude, you’re definitely not dumb! Thank you for the inspiration.
What size are the ori fronts ?
14" front and 16" rear. The front could have gone 16" and not poked threw the hood but the 14 is already bigger then most use I think they will be plenty
Awesome what you’re doing! Enjoy your thought process and explanations👌🏻 hopefully , my next project next!
Alot of work but I think it's going to be well worth it.
