Thank you for letting me wrap my [long] fingers around the ODS grip after Pistol Optics class yesterday. The lip at the bottom (same as on the full size Staccato P grip) made the ODS grip workable for me, much to my surprise. I can conceal the standard grip AIWB, but this would be even easier for carry while giving up nothing for reloads and purchase on the pistol.
Its amazing how you can discuss the suttle differences that are difference makers to us gun conesours after you go down the rabbit hole of 1911/2011's I am stll partial to the bump on the main spring housing of the grip. I think it allows you to develop a more sturdy grip as far as I am concerned.
Great content! It's hard to find too much useful information regarding STI 2011 and I'm glad I got so many info here! Keep doing this please! I was lucky enough to bought 2 Staccato Ps and one with gen1 grip and the other with gen2. I didn't notice that much different other than the texture difference before I watch this video and I still prefer the old one because it fills my large hand better. But as you mentioned, from the production point, the new grip module make way much more sense.
You should use your influence to bring back the full length dust cover, such a better looking firearm. I actually do like the aesthetics of the new grip module though. I carried an rtf2 g19 for a while so I definitely appreciate the more mild texture for cold weather carry. Good video, very informative!
Thanks for the update on the grip modules. I was worried they weren't gonna be that good but this is great information. Was also curious about the Staccato R and swapping the grip module. Sucks cause I wanted a 5" sti double stack. I know the XL will be nice but thats a bit long for carry.
Keep in mind that the new Staccato P is a 4.45" bbl. The 9mm 5" prototypes that they'd tried were too slow cycling. If however you meant you wanted a 5" .45 double stack....then sorry you're out of luck on that one. Demand for .45 double stacks is close to zero so they aren't making any.
108Performance I definitely meant 9mm and am looking at purchasing the Staccato P in 4.45" but saw a few reviews and mentions of the 5" model. I did not know they were having issues so that kinda sucks but oh well im sure ill like the new Staccato P all the same.
Really great information. I'm in the market for a Stacatto P and these videos have been really helpful to learn about the platform. Way too may stupid unboxing videos out there!
Stop watching so many unboxing videos, if there are way too many of them for you. Some of us want to see as many videos as we can, before shelling out $2k and up for a handgun.
Ok, serious question...I just received my 2020 Stacatto P. It is fit very well, and is very well blended. There is no play at all in the grip safety or thumb safety and it functions flawlessly with the Gen 2 mags it came with. I'm really wondering what a $4k+ 2011/1911 can offer that STI, with their 2020 lineup can not. I was going to get a Nighthawk but now I'm wondering what the point is...I can buy 2 more STI's that seem just as good.
Alot, the Stacatto line even compared to the older DVC and Costa Series is night and day. "Staccatto" has turned from a Custom gun company like Nighthawk more to a production driven company. I own both so I can say this with certainty. Go pick up a Nighthawk Triarc or Atlas and you will instantly see. That said I daily carry a Gucci Glock or a Staccato C2 these are work guns.
Be advised, the new grip modules have issues when using the 140+mm magazines. The new magazine catch doesn't stop the magazine in time during the up stroke of the reload causing the magazine to be over inserted on slide lock reloads. Over time, this will break the ejector. STI is currently working on a new magazine design to address the issue. They are expecting the new magazines to be available around March. Also, the last 9 staccatos I've worked on all shot extremely low, including my private purchase.
The mag catch isn't there to stop the magazine, though it does so to a degree, by default. The G2 mag catch works as well as the legacy unit in that regard. If you smash the mag in hard enough, you can defeat either mag catch. New base pads from the factory, as well as from 10-8 Performance, are in the works which will provide a positive stop for the tube.
The Gen2 magazines in their respective lengths (140mm, 126mm) will have the corresponding baseplate that prevents over-insertion. Gen 2 mags are working flawlessly. 165mm is just so long you will overinsert anyway but nobody wants those lol. I think I have my lengths right. (talking about the 17 round and 20 round mags respectively)
I don't have either one, but they're not meant to be the same niche. The P is a 4.45 bbl, steel frame, and full size grip, the C2 is a 3.9" bbl, aluminum frame, and short ODS grip. One is a full size duty weapon, the other a mid size suitable for CCW and plain clothes or off duty carry.
So you showed a picture comparing the P model ODS grip length to a G19 and it was slightly longer. Does this mean the C2 grip is the same length as the G19?
@@108Performance I’m very new to staccato pardon my ignorance. So the ods grip is the same one that comes on the staccato p? The p just have the magwell and the c2 doesn’t?
Where did you get that mainspring housing pin from? Bought one for a 2011 from fusion, but it was still too long without the magwell. I would like to run my 'P' 2019 model without the magwell such as yours. Please help, thank you.
Are the C2 shipping to dealers yet I’ve not seen them for sale yet anywhere. I have a shop near me that is a “preferred” STI dealer but with this virus not sure if they are open or how long an order would take at this point. The ODS grip is similar in length as a G19 is the full size P similar to a G 17/45?
GlockednLoaded C2 have been shipping since the beginning of the year. Various dealers have been advertising them online. @jproarms in Instagram has had them.
phonjang you might already have a holster by now, but for others who don’t have one yet the Long’s Shadow Holsters or LAS Concealment Holsters are great.
The GEN II grips are TERRIBLE! I got a P and a C2 for my wife and was so pissed after shooting it. It’s like buying a Mercedes and getting hub caps. Called STI and they said $400 would get me new grips. Oh, if they don’t change the grips it voids your warranty. I wish I never bought these guns, save yourself the money don’t buy a STI Staccato.

Lots of great info... Thank you Sir!
Great video and great finish 👍👍👍👍👍
STI Staccato P arrives Monday thanks to the informative information in this series. Now I just need the ranges to open after all this virus bullshit!
CountryBoyShane time to move to Texas brother. Our ranges never closed, and most everyone has a buddy with a ranch to go shoot on open land anyway 🤘🏻🎸

I can go either way on it. I like the classic lines of the non-full cover. Reminds you the heart of this thing is over a century old.

@@Menacke You will love the 4.45, it's very soft shooting and fast cycling.
Do you like the shorter carry gen2 better than what came with your duo?
@@pinoykillaz438 For AIWB, yes. For exposed duty holster carry, it doesn't matter which one.

Can you put a gen 1 grip (dvc) grip onto a newer model specifically staccato XC?
I believe so yes, but you have to change the mag catch to the original one or something.
Were can I Buy The Aluminum enhanced mag well that you spoke about for my 2020 staccato P
Thank you for all videos I find them very informative
Dawson Precision
Do you have one of those mag wells you want to get rid of?
Can you do a direct comparison of the C2 and P (new 2020 models)?
I don't have either one, but they're not meant to be the same niche. The P is a 4.45 bbl, steel frame, and full size grip, the C2 is a 3.9" bbl, aluminum frame, and short ODS grip. One is a full size duty weapon, the other a mid size suitable for CCW and plain clothes or off duty carry.
108Performance when you talk about removing the mag funnel on the P, how does that grip compare to the C2?
Phil P C2 has ODS, P has Govt length
So you showed a picture comparing the P model ODS grip length to a G19 and it was slightly longer. Does this mean the C2 grip is the same length as the G19?
No....the C2 grip IS the ODS. The P usually comes with a full sized Govt grip module, I swapped mine for testing.
Is this grip the same one that comes on the P MINUS THE MAGWELL? I’m looking to get a c2 but want a full size grip
