- The Teatro alla Scala has announced its 2022-23 Season featuring opera, recitals, and symphony concerts. Jonas Kaufmann, Anna Netrebko, Marina Rebeka, Ildar Abdrazakov & Sonya Yoncheva Lead Teatro alla Scala’s 2022-23 Season. Enjoy my handmade video trailer of the alla Scala 22-23 opera season. Here are some details about the new season:
The season opens with Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godunov.” The production will be directed by Kasper Holten and conducted by Riccardo Chailly. The work will star Ildar Abdrazakov, Lilly Jørstad, Anna Denisova, Agnieszka Rehlis, Norbert Ernst, Alexey Markov, Ain Anger, Misha Didyk, Andrii Goniukov, Alexander Kravets, Maria Barakova, Yaroslav Abaimov, and Oleg Budaratskiy.
Performance Dates: Dec. 7-29, 2022
Vida Miknevičiūtė sings the title role of Strauss’ “Salome” alongside Michael Volle, Tomasz Konieczny, Sebastian Kohlhepp, Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke, and Linda Watson. Zubin Mehta conducts.
Performance Dates: Jan. 14-30, 2023
Hugo de Ana directs a new production of Verdi’s “I Vespri Siciliani” with Fabio Luisi conducting. The cast is led by Luca Micheletti, Roman Burdenko, Adriano Gramigni, Piero Pretti, Dmitry Beloselskiy, Marina Rebeka, and Angela Meade.
Performance Dates: Jan. 28-Feb. 21, 2023
Freddie De Tommaso, Marina Rebeka, Irina Lungu, Alessio Arduini, Luca Micheletti, Jongmin Park, Mariam Battistelli, and Andrea Concetti lead Puccini’s “La Bohème.” Eun Sun Kim conducts the production that will see Lungu sing both Mimi and Musetta in alternating casts.
Performance Dates: March 4-26, 2023
Vittorio Grigolo leads Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” with Ildar Abdrazakov, Marina Viotti, Federica Guida, Francesca Di Sauro, and Eleonora Buratto. Frédéric Chaslin conducts the new production by Davide Livermore.
Performance Dates: March 15-31, 2023
Vinci’s “Li zite ‘ngalera” will be conducted by Andrea Marcon and directed by Leo Muscato. Francesca Aspromonte, Cecilia Molinari, Francesca Pia Vitale, Alberto Allegrezza, Filippo Mineccia, Raffaele Pe, and Marco Filippo Romano star.
Performance Dates: April 4-21, 2023
Riccardo Chailly conducts a new production of Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” directed by Yannis Kokkos. The cast includes Lisette Oropesa, Juan Diego Flórez, Ildebrando d’Arcangelo, and Boris Pinkhasovich.
Performance Dates: April 13-May 5, 2023
Yusif Eyvazov and Jonas Kaufmann lead Giordano’s “Andrea Chénier” with Ambrogio Maestri, Amartuvshin Enkhbat, and Sonya Yoncheva. Marco Armiliato conducts.
Performance Dates: May 3-27, 2023
Dmitry Korchak, Elena Guseva, Olga Bezsmertna, Jongmin Park, and Okka von der Damerau lead the new production of Dvořák’s “Rusalka.” Tomáš Hanus conducts the production by Emma Dante.
Performance Dates: June 6-22, 2023
Giampaolo Bisanti conducts Verdi’s “Macbeth” with Luca Salsi, Amartuvshin Enkhbat, Jongmin Park, Ekaterina Semenchuk, Anna Netrebko, and Fabio Sartori.
Performance Dates: June 17-July 8, 2023
Evelino Pidò conducts Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” with soloists from the Teatro alla Scala academy.
Performance Dates: Sept. 4-18, 2023
Andrés Orozco-Estrada conducts Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” with Ildebrando D’Arcangelo, Olga Bezsmertna, Benedetta Torre, Luca Micheletti, and Svetlina Stoyanova.
Performance Dates: Sept. 30-Oct. 20, 2023
Simone Young conducts Britten’s “Peter Grimes” with Robert Carsen directing. Brandon Jovanovich takes on the title role alongside Nicole Car, Ólafur Sigurdarson, Margaret Plummer, Michael Colvin, Peter Rose, Natascha Petrinsky, Benjamin Hulett, Leigh Melrose, and William Thomas.
Performance Dates: Oct. 18-Nov. 2, 2023
Montemezzi’s “Le Amore dei Tre Re” will be conducted by Michele Mariotti and directed by Àlex Ollé / La Fura dels Baus. Günther Groissböck, Roberto Frontali, Giorgio Berrugi, Giorgio Misseri, and Chiara Isotton star.
Performance Dates: Oct. 28-Nov. 12, 2023

Destacan los títulos de Leonardo Vinci e Ítalo Montemezzi genial. El resto, el repertorio igual. En vez de la Lucia por qué no, La Favorita, El duc d ‘Alba o el Poliuto? Lo digo porque estos títulos han desaparecido de los repertorios y son óperas tan bellas. En fin. Espero y les deseo una muy buena temporada. El arte ayuda, cura, te resetea. Gracias por compartir. I hope someone can guide me as I’m completely ignorant of the topic: we’re gonna be in Milan durin the weekend of 7 to 9 of April, next year, i was hoping to see a show in la Scalla however I see that for that week there are oboe tickets for the 4th… is it normal that there are not shows during the weekend?

Tenemos planes de estar en Milán el fin de semana del 7 al 9 de abril, tenía la esperanza de entrar a una función sin embargo el calendario solo marca función el martes 4 de abril de esa semana… saben si agregan más fechas? No me convence Flórez como Edgardo. Yo lo he visto en vivo y en las partes centrales y el sexteto por ejemplo su voz no se le escuchaba. Demasiado ligera su voz para este tipo de repertorio.
I simply choose to live with my memories of Nilson, Caballé, Giacomini…. for the price of a ticket. I’ll leave today’s public with feeble Florez, ear-splitting Netrebko, wobbly Grigolo, colorless Kaufman, et compagnie.

Florez and Kaufman are THE tenor superstars of today, and like it or not, Netrebko still has the goods to deliver a performance--------and a damn good one, as judged by her recent reviews in Paris. I concur with you about Nilsson, but certainly NOT in your assessment of the other three.

Wenn ich Pläne der Scala oder Met sehe, habe ich nur eine Frage! Sehen und hören wir irgendwann mal wieder Künstler wie: Tebaldi, Callas oder wenigstens Stella? Corelli, di Stefano, del Monaco oder wenigsten Mario Filippeschi? Bastianini, Gobi, Protti oder Guelfi? Und so weiter usw,........? Oder müssen wir uns mit dem was ist, noch viele Jahre/Jahrzehnte behelfen! Wäre sehr traurig!!!
