Amazing build, Dan. So glad to see you enjoying it. I know the feeling of that first drive but yours must have felt even better after all this time and the endless thoughtful custom touches. Can’t wait to see more!
I’ve mostly watched your episodes dealing with electronics and programming so I missed the rear clam clearance mods. You did an amazing job on that! I’ve been I to Ultimas for 25 years and never seen something like that. Beautiful! Very unique.
Thanks so much! It was definitely something I needed to do out of necessity since the engine is so tall. It wasn’t part of my original build plan and certainly a stressful decision, but turned out better than I thought. Great example of turning lemons into lemonade. 😁. Thanks again for your kind words! 🙏
Congratulations! Beautiful to share this with your kids also, great feeling. Nothing easy is as sweet as something you have to work hard for, great work! Enjoy! 🍁☀️
Wow! That was a ton of work and money, but the result is awesome. The car looks amazing and the sound is pure exotic racing car! Congratulations! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I'm truly delighted to see you driving the car and especially being able to share the experience with your family. I'm still some way off having mine finished, but you're an inspiration as always. Looking forward to seeing the finished clam back on. I think your ducting to the airbox is brilliant.
Awesome job as usual Dan. Really is a awesome build… one of the best on RUclips, even compared to professional shops work. Tip when cutting composites like the clam shell have a shop vac nozzle taped down near where you are cutting. Safe for you and means you can see where you are working, and easier clean up afterwards 👍
One thing I am stunned about, is just how time flew, near five years. Hard to comprehend. I've been here since day one, I had no idea it was that long. Of course excited to see and hear it move. I hope the tranny is a simple software fix. All buttoned up and tested will be the next hurdle and compared to everything else, a piece of cake. Great to watch it go.
Looking good! From what I hear those transmissions have a limp mode that locks in if there is any discrepancy between road speed engine rpm and shift command. If a signal is missing or wrong you may never get it out of second gear
Excellent work and now you know the end is now in sight! Love the carbon wrapping etc, what a beast of a go Kart 👍 Looking forward to the next episode. 👍Keep up the good work.
Awesome Dan! I’ve followed from the first episode and have been looking forward to seeing the end result of your amazing build. How you have tackled each step has been eye opening, especially the electronics. That’s another world. I can only imagine how you feel. Enjoy the fruits of your work. Roger
Adding a mess grill under the fender vents will stop you damage the vents and body work from rocks on the road… plus less likely to launch a rock at following vehicles 👍
Been watching for an update closely for the past week. I had the feeling that something was coming. Great to see it on the street! Keep up the great work! Can't wait for more!
So happy for you Dan, started watching your videos after you were already pretty far through the build, Those dang Vw mechs love to get stuck in second gear when not programmed, Also after unlocking and performing transmission adaptation, after its finish, make sure you shut the engine off and turn it back on, If you do an adaptation then go straight to driving it will still only have 2 gears without a key cycle
Im so happy for you brother and proud on what u have accomplished basically a one man build! also having the wifey on the first outing was pretty cool.Congrats and ive been here since day 1 when a big pallet arrived and had tofigure out hot to move it inside, now i know how much weight the home depot wooden dolly can take lol.
Drill a hole in the corner to cut to. Use a large enough bit to create a decent radius. Spot face bits are great for this, they have a tip that runs in a pilot hole and create a smooth hole.

I did not realise using the DCT was possible without the cars original canbus 😮 I was planning to go manual or run an air shift sequential gearbox on my V10.
What a huge achievement Dan. You have one of the best Ultimas on the planet! One question, what your key, to motivate you to get it done to this standard? Fabulous job
Thanks for your kind words! I draw motivation from my passion of motorsports and desire to try and learn new things. For me, the journey is the destination. 👍
@@DanDulac few start these projects, even less finish like you nearly have. The journey has many more hours and challenges than the destination. Thanks for sharing the build to us all. Greetings from the UK 🇬🇧
Turns out it does have immobilizer BUT as far as I can tell, it’s not active. I believe since we coded out ECM immo, it’s not transmitting immo signal(s) to trans so trans is not activating its own immo. Reverse engineering these communication dependencies has been very tricky! Once we UNLOCK the new mech, we’ll see what happens. 🙏
Hi Dan, The build looks incredible, you obviously have well honed skills in many areas to make this drive train look and work like you have. Congratulations. Did you consider RCR superlite as an alternative. I have also dreamt of building on of those.
Love this build. 🥰. Awesome car. Where did you get the waffle exhaust heat schields ? Where did you get the hatch latches that go flat when closed. Thanks. ☺️
Thanks! The heat shields were made using DEI “floor and tunnel shield” and mishimoto embossed aluminum heat shield: simply stick the two together then cut/shape however you want. Works very well. The latches are from Aerocatch (model 120-4000). Hope this helps!
@@DanDulac Hello and thanks. The squad mesh you flare using , is it printer or just from a shop I prefer pentagram shape or octogonal shape. Where to get 🤔😊
Congratulations, Dan, so exciting that you finally got it all working. Getting a DCT working in something like this is a huge accomplishment.
Congrats. Big milestone.
A huge milestone Dan, the car looks and sounds great. Always enjoy seeing your innovation and how you approach various challenges.

It just looks so beautiful. Great job. The V10 combo is so much more sophisticated than the V8. Now I have to get down on viewing all the other videos
Congratulations! Beautiful to share this with your kids also, great feeling. Nothing easy is as sweet as something you have to work hard for, great work!

So happy for you mate!! What a machine you've built !!!
Hell yeah! Good job Dan. So excited to see this thing on the road
Many congratulations Dan brilliant!
That is a hawt Ultima! Sick shit man. 🎉 V10 and V12's are for some reason so much more exciting an V8's imho.
5 years, time flies Dan!
Almost there ☺
It looked amazing going down the street. Very low, perhaps too low for street use? Brilliant update.
Amazing project! Regards from Portugal

Dan, maybe I missed it, but the 4s mechatronic that’s in it now does NOT have an immobilizer correct - it was an early enough version?

@@janudholmThe grill mesh came with the kit. Its hexagonal pattern and came powder coated gloss black. You should be able to find online.
Five years where did the time go that’s crazy
Dan what did you 3D print the airhorns out of? I was thinking of you not wanting the carbon fiber resin to attack the 3D print material.
I printed them with fiberglass infused PETG...I've carbon skinned a lot of parts with this filament and it works great. No issues that I've found yet!

Another solid video,Dan. We released a portable air pump for off-road use. Can we invite you to do a review Clip? We have emailed for an inquiry.
Predictions on how long before the engine sucks the silicone right off that airbox intake? lol
Trans computer is inside the trans pan....fun
