I've been looking for one of theses campers. People want ridicules prices and they have done nothing to improve them. You have done a really nice rehabilitation to yours.
Don't let anyone knock the 22RE. That's the same engine used in some of the 80s model 4runners. Excellent engines, easy and cheap to work on, built to last.
yes the 22re is very economical and reliable but is a bit underpowered for this application.. so underpowered infact it makes the overdrive really struggle on anything but level ground which burns up the trans! the 22re will not get you anywhere fast, but it will always get you there...... if you dont use the overdrive! lol
Me too- my '84 is just the right [small] size. It's a complete little camper that drives and parks like a van. I've seen RVers almost faint when I tell them it gets 16 to 18 mpg with the 5 spd manual trans..
I'm glad you're restoring your '87. I encourage you not to paint everything white as so often is done. People say my '84 is so homey with its woodwork and original pinch-pleat curtains.
I appreciate,ur enthusiam,i got to ride in one years ago, drove good, wouldnt go up a hill for beans, but for one person it works,I dont think 2,I live in a old 35ft 5th wheel dont look to good but its comfy inside, and good for 1 person.,I think it would almost be claustrophobic with more than 1.
I live in my 1987 Toyota r.v Wich on mechanical I've spent 13.000 and another.By spring it will be on you tube.Fyi R22 is the most reliable engine ever built and every mechanic that has worked on it agrees. When my r.v is done it will be Raptor Liner bright green Woodstock.Your r.v is Awesome!Never sell it there are and pricey for a reason✌️
I saw on a school bus a guy put a box fan flat into the escape hatch to bring air in or out. He put a reverse and forward switch on it.

@@carbonrrpilot yea my buddy has one and he struggles to get uphill lol
Struggles with the weight of the Rv. I blew the engine eventually.
Good reliable engine. Personally I’d put in a v6 engine
I just bought a 1983 Dolphin and I love it because it is smaller.
