    I would put the flat bed on before a leveling kit, the flat bed might be a bit heavier than the box bed.

    Yes finally! The ultimate farm truck! My dad owns a 3rd gen Cummins but with a 5.9l, so I recommend a rough country leveling kit and get the bilstein shocks to help the ride. Also you probably want a lift pump if it already doesn’t have one because with all of that air from twin turbos you need more fuel, for a lift pump I recommend a airdog 150gpm. Idk exactly how much horsepower you’re making but eventually you may have to do something to the transmission if it’s still completely stock, but you may be ok. Just make sure when you’re towing a load always keep an eye on the transmission temperature. If you don’t find leather seat soon just out seat covers over the front seats to protect them or do like what my dad does, take a towel and folding in half and put it on the seat. I’m so glad you guys bought not only a diesel truck but it’s a 3rd gen Cummins. Thank you!

    Coop, first.... Nice truck! And nice plans for the truck. I just wanted to make a suggestion about the air bags, most manufactures recommend to keep a minimum of 5psi in the bags when not using them. I don't know why. Just something to look into. I don't want you to inadvertently hurt them and not have them when you need them. I wish you and the family the best for the planting season! Keep on keepin' on brother!!!!

    I have a 2010 Ram 3500 Cummings turbo diesel and I love it. I pull a 35 ft 5th wheel camper fully loaded and the truck pulls it like it was not even there. It is a six speed automatic with the option to manually shift when pulling a load. That is really sweet when you come to a hill and want that extra pulling power. Like yours it is long my rear seats are the same size as the front and I have a full size bed. I believe it has a twenty three feet wheel space. Enjoy your truck it looks sweet. DIESEL POWER oh yes

    Liked this episode Coop. Diesel's don't like dirty Air Filters, or dirty injectors.... makes them smoke. make sure to change the fuel filter too or empty the water separator on the bottom of the filter housing. Some diesel's have a cam/timing belt...worth swapping that out too.`Its worth cleaning the EGR valve & the Maf/MAP sensors also both affect performance & mpg.

    You should enjoy the truck. I keep one diesel to pull. The gas half ton is for running around. Check into a agri hitch. Brute II or a DMI. You can get within @ a foot of dead on and hook up. Saves lots of time. Plus spring cushion saves your back, neck, the transmission...

    The suspension is higher in the back so when you have weight in the bed or are towing something that levels it and your headlights are aimed correctly for it to be okay and effective for both conditions. God Bless you lil Brother 😎🖖🏼🇺🇸

    I have a 4th gen 6.7 Ram. I used to have a 2007 gasser. Great trucks if you just tend to their weaknesses (as all makes and models have). Alpharex has some nice LED headlights for those years. Get the cab corners fixed and put cavity wax in them and it will last many years. You can swap in 4th gen seats I believe without much work, and the comfort level improves greatly. I sub'd when I saw you got this truck! Also, keep a repair fund for a transmission especially with compound turbos. That is one of the weaknesses of the Dodge/Rams that can be helped with a built transmission.

    Coop, as a 2nd Gen owner , welcome to the Cummins Club. Love my 5.9. Fixing to do a rebuild on it and a few other things (compound turbo 😎) like rebuilding the front end where I tried to turn a Honda Pilot into a hood ornament 🤨. I wouldn’t suggest it. Anyway enjoy the new to you Cummins. I like the ESAB welding shield as well. I have 2. Great shields. You ought to try a Pancake Shield for outdoor work. I’m a pipe welder. Much love to you dude. You give us older folks hope that there are some young people who have common sense. And mount a small on board compressor for your air bags

    Cooper I have a 2006 Ram 2500 4x4 short wheel base and also a four door..Mine has the Cummins 5.9 turbo diesel..my fuel miles average 24/26 mpg..My best mileage is 33.5mpg interstate driving...My worst is 18mpg, pulling a hightop 36' camper on the interstate with a headwind...I am really satisfied with the overall performance .The biggest downfall is when off road in soft group d the front end will get you stuck pretty quick due to the really heavy motor...Best of luck with your truck...it looks really good cleaned up!

  • @morgansword
    @morgansword 3 года назад

    Cooper, its a nice truck and the flat bed is a great idea. Putting a lot of money into bling just doesn't compute as those bodies rust away while talking about it. I would dig in and get rid of the rust with a good spray undercoating of some kind. Since you have the garage, I would strip things out that hide the rust and get some ospho or some kind of rust killer on it so it will last a little while but seriously Ohio is a rust capital and it is just nearly a work horse to stop it all. The important stuff like the doors and fenders will get so bad in five years you won't go across the yard before hearing a sound of metal jingling and stuff ready to fall off. Your ford is your go to town in and make other boys in the area so jealous of you that it hurts. Its a work truck to take the pressure off the really sweet ford

  • @bryannewburn7891

    Good buy! Miss my 06. You’re pretty crafty with a welder you could build your own flatbed. Make good content on here. There are tons of leveling kits out there. Cheapest and easiest is coil spring spacers and can be found all over Amazon or eBay.. If you don’t mind spending the extra money you could just get 2” or 3” front lift springs. Would probably ride nicer then the spacers. Thuren makes a real nice set of soft ride lift springs which might be a good idea for all those dirt roads you have out there. Look into greg_alberalla RUclips channel his entires channel I’d based on Cummins motors and trucks. Great resource on how to’s and where to get quality parts. Good luck and have fun with it!

  • @MarkofT
    @MarkofT 3 года назад

    If you polish/sand cloudy headlights, you need to apply a protective film. The cloudiness is from micro fractures and the dirt they collect. The film will help prevent new micro fractures and keep the current ones clean.
    Don't forget to re-aim the headlights if you level it so you don't blind other drivers. And if you replace the headlights, get reputable stuff, not cheap crap off eBay.

    If you don’t mind spending the money, and want a really bomb proof front suspension and steering, then I highly recommend you look up Carli suspension. Basically you can tear off into a corn field and jump through a ditch without worrying about your front end. Also I highly recommend you beef up the transmission in your truck, if the previous owner hasn’t done so already, before you wind up on the side of the road with its guts spread out everywhere especially with the extra power. Other than that, as long as you service the truck regularly and not hot rod it too much you’ll be fine.

    Katskin sells the leather seat covers I used them to replace my seat covers in my 2003 I had seat warmers in the the 2 front seats. Also if you take the rubber strips on the doors by the rocker panel off you can spray chain lube in the holes to keep the doors from rusting out. The reason the bed sides rust out is Dodge put spry foam in the bed sides so they would not rust out but instead they held the moisture in. This is just what I have been told, I have spent about $10000. on my 03 just fixing rust and I think I am done with it now. I have had both bed sides replace all the doors fixed new rocker panels and the tail gate repaired. You will love the power of the Cummins!

    Should always keep at least 5psi in bags. Keeps them from getting destroyed. Airlift sells a cheap on board compressor makes it easy to air up when towing and keeps it set at 5psi

    Compound turbo diesel! Nice. Iron & steel get heavier when they rust. Only gets lighter if it falls off the truck. lol
