Cooper, for a young man of your age you are so inspirational. Here in Australia, you would be snapped up as an Apprentice Mechanic in record time. Your work ethic is phenomenal and such a credit to your mum and dad.
Future reference. Grab some baler twine and tie your springs before lifting the frame. Double up the twine and put three on each spring. You won’t have any trouble getting them out.
I so feel the “I set that tool down and a second later can’t find it” feeling…. Happy New Year Cooper! I’ve appreciated your quiet competence over this past year and have enjoyed seeing your life among the Cornstars.
Cooper, For someone your age you have very good mechanical skills and provide a valuable resource to your farm operation. Your only going to get better with age, and will become a wealth of knowledge.....
COOPER!!!!!!!! Welcome back! Love all the work you do! Thanks for posting again, I appreciate you spending the time to share your life with us! Happy New Year!
Cooper, nice to see you. Great video. I can't even guess how many times I have put a tool down and thirty seconds later can't find it. It has to be the shop cat, or mice, or squirrels or something. Anxious to see the next installment in this series. Keep up the excellent work. I was holding my breath waiting for the flat, bloody nose!
Hey Coop! On Fords they call that a “track bar”. It’s what centers the axle under the body on straight axle vehicles. You can pull it back over and bolt it in with the stock bar but the body of the truck will shift to the drivers side. They call this “dog walking”. Your axles will still be in line but it will not appear that way. Your tire will stick out farther on the driver side than it does on the passenger. To fix this they make adjustable track bars. You remove the old one and put in the new. It will have adjustable himes similar to a top link for a tractor. With the truck in the air you adjust the bar in or out until your tire reveal is the same. Once you put it back down on the ground it may shift some from squishing the suspension. As long as you’re in the ball park with it in the air it’s easy to dial in with the truck on the ground. I will warn you the top bolt that holds the bar to the body is cranked to like 500 ft lbs. you need to heat it heat it heat it to get it off. Broke a 3/4 drive snap on ratchet on mine the first time. Don’t worry about melting the bushing either because the hime joint replaces it. Remember to get an alignment when it all done too. Please film your finishing it. Love watching your videos!
For 2 1/2" leveling blocks, it was only shifted about 1/2" if that. I worked in the tech department of 4WD Hardware for a long time, and we didn't recommend switching until you got over 4" of lift. On a work truck with just blocks, I would use a ratchet strap and slide the axle back in place and put the bolt in it and run it. LOL
Badgermatt is correct. if he is just leveled then he doesnt need an adjustable track bar. but having an adjustable track bar with heim joints is a lot nicer then the bushings but thats just my opinion. i ended up having a worn out bushing and it messed up the hole on the frame side and had to drill for the next size bolt. he just needs to pull the frame over on the axle and throw the bolt in. i have had to do it practically every time i worked on a track bar.
Copper I don't know anything about what you are fixing but I enjoy watching things being worked on and you explain everything you are doing. Love to you and all the corn stars.
Just bought father a 1/2 socket set from Amazon in fall. Around 60 bucks and came with breaker and ratchet with sockets up to 1 1/4 inch. 1/2 breaker with your jack handle as extension would have got that bolt. Used to use that trick with a tent pole extension to break m113 track pins. Craftsman guy would always laugh when I traded in the cracked sockets.
Happy New Year Cooper. I watch you work on these things and it's all too much for my brain! It's like a big zip saw puzzle. You and amazingly talented at all of this.
PB blaster on the rusty bolts helps instead of getting on the tiered bolts smack the side to shock it loose .now for adjustments of the linkages or up grade steering rods
Not only can he tear it apart but more importantly he can put it back together. I watched DC's interview by Cole the other day and when he said he let his kids try new things when they were growing up this is a great example of what thw result is. Very inpressed with Cooper's skills.
Hey Coop, I see you guys bought the tools with the optional legs on them to. And my kids blame this problem on "old age" in my case. LOL Keep up the good work young man!
I put a 2 inch lift on my Cummins and needed a longer trackbar. Put a Thuren adjustable one in and its amazing. Took my death wobble away and steering feels great
Good to see this. Saw you in background of a different video working on the Dodge. I didn’t see jack stands at first. Floor jacks alone are not safe enough. Some auto parts stores LOAN a coil spring compressors when you buy shock/strut/springs…. Makes things easier. I have to admit. MN, no heated shop, brake line failed. I just took it into a shop, paid someone to do it. Keep fixing stuff yourself. When you have a project like this planned. Shoot your favorite WD-40, liquid wrench type stuff when you order parts. Hit again night before you tear stuff apart. It might reduce bent wrenches. ;). Thank you.
Coop I’ve always been so impressed with the amount of mechanical knowledge you have at such a young age, plus your strong work ethic. What really impressed me though, is that you didn’t get all insulted or take on an attitude when (I’m may be wrongly assuming this) Natalie suggested a different way to attach the spacers. You just listened, tried it, and wow! It worked. Shows me how good your self esteem is when you can readily take advise.
I feel that lost tool syndrome also. You can usually rent a spring depressed at your local automotive supply store.I found on some trucks that spring has to be sitting in a certain position for proper installation. The turbo's look like might be a bit of a pain to rebuild or even remove when your dealing with rusted exhaust bolts. Usually prespraying them with some type of WD40 or something else does the trick. I don't like the 2 wrench idea for stuck nuts,I have a long breaker bar and some additional pipe for extra leverage if needed.
Now we know Natalie is the brains behind your mechanical work, 🙂 She is rather smart. Your vid's a both fun and educational. Love no yelling or screaming. BTW: TRY KROIL. It's awesome.
Put a big ratchet strap on it and pull the front end over to put the bolt back in the panhard bar. They always slide a little when you take the solid axles off the springs and shocks like that.
Ya should be able to look it up on you tube on the installation of some of the parts........ They sell bolt on spring compressors...... Have a Happy New Year.............
I've just done this job and had the same issue lining up the stabiliser bar again, just got someone inside the cab to move the steering to line things up again as I lay under neath to guide. But you have probably got things sorted by the time you see this
I'm sure this project is already done but what I did to level up my old Ford with coil springs I went to NAPA and bought a set of Moog winch/snow plow springs. They raised me up 2 1/2" but did ride a tic stiffer. They were cheap at something like $65 each. It handled big bumps a lot better. We have a severe rail crossing in the next town over and I used to bottom out going over it at 30 mph but with the extra travel and my Rancho 9000 shocks turned up it felt like a smooth riding trophy truck even with the 7.3. I could turn the shocks all the way down and it was a lot better around town but towing I could get it dialed right in for my tag #8000 Pace enclosed trailer. Later I got tired of fixing that 7.3 so swapped in a 460 and it did everything better including burn rubber for well over 100'. Felt like a tail wind everywhere I went and the engine swap gained another 2" getting rid of that diesel. Good Luck.
I cannot believe how you work without a tutor. My father was a great mechanic, and I would have to get on the phone and yell, Help! He would then stand behind my shoulder and assure me, just keep doing that and it will be fine, etc.
Happy New Year Cooper wish I could go my mullet like yours again but getting older and losing my hair from always wearing a hat with it get a hold of truckmaster he's got some Cummins buddies that'll hook you up with probably one big good turbo I've never been a fan of that dual turbo crap.
It's always more fun watching somebody working on their vehicles instead of me having to do it on my own. It was fun when I was your age but I'm a little older now. 😏 ( okay, way, way older ) 😜
I just replaced the shocks on my 05 dodge 2 days ago and man it was definitely a job. I had to torch the bottom shock bolts off cause I couldn’t get them loose and one side the the nut was spinning and it was so annoying trying to put a wrench in there.
Nice to see you being busy Happy New Year Magic Mullet the truck looks good a larger turbos will build more boost thus more torque and horsepower bigger intercooler won't hurt eather Again Happy New Year 2222 time to renew
As Dougo would say the struggle bus is real. I feel for you cooper i can set a wrench down and 10 seconds later. Its long gone only to reappear 45 minutes later usually right where i set it down
Since you stopped halfway through the heart surgery and started working on the truck's front legs, does that mean the patient is currently on life support ?
Cooper is definitely the gear head of the clan :), pretty impressive.
It’s so nice you’re so mechanically inclined. Certainly pull your weight repairing all the farm stuff.
Cooper, you are a true inspiration for young people.

The Axel shifted to one side. Very common when lifting jeeps. Take a ratchet strap and pull the axel back over.
Missed you Cooper. New Years blessings for you and those you love.
Been a long time waiting on a nice new mullet show
Good video. Would like to see more of you fixing various stuff. Happy New Year! 🎉
I appreciate that you took the time to chip away and vacuum up the crust in the spring locator
I so feel the “I set that tool down and a second later can’t find it” feeling…. Happy New Year Cooper! I’ve appreciated your quiet competence over this past year and have enjoyed seeing your life among the Cornstars.
You’ve been missed Magic!
Cooper, For someone your age you have very good mechanical skills and provide a valuable resource to your farm operation. Your only going to get better with age, and will become a wealth of knowledge.....
Been waiting for a new video and now I have one. Cooper you never cease to amaze me with your hands on talent. Keep it up and have a great 2022

A set of car dollies works well to slide the an axle side to side but the cheapest option is the little plastic disk you move furniture with.
For my super duty I got a readylift levelling kit and it just came with offset bushings for the track bar

Coop, you are da man. Happy New Years to you and yours. Stay safe my friend.
I enjoyed this 100x more than the auto shows on TV. That farm truck makes me so jealous.
Copper I don't know anything about what you are fixing but I enjoy watching things being worked on and you explain everything you are doing. Love to you and all the corn stars.
"Significantly" was the word of the day.

Your level of mechanical aptitude for your age is amazing.
Great video. Cooper, you are highly skilled.

Happy New Year to you and yours.
Wishing the Cole Family a very Happy New Year 🥳
Schlong bed Cummins FTW! 🤘🏼 Looks perfect now with the leveling kit! 👍🏼

So your channel randomly popped up on my feed. The channel name is for the win you had me at Mullet, truly America's misunderstood hairstyle.

i sure do love your blue truck, the ford
I cannot believe how you work without a tutor. My father was a great mechanic, and I would have to get on the phone and yell, Help! He would then stand behind my shoulder and assure me, just keep doing that and it will be fine, etc.
For future reference, flip the shocks around. The thicker end goes on the top so that to water can drip into your shocks
Damn bro I hope you make more videos this coming year
Not a Pitman arm. That appears to be the track rod. As for level, the real test is loaded (trailer or bed load).
Awsome video thank you love the shop work with friends
Happy New Year Cooper wish I could go my mullet like yours again but getting older and losing my hair from always wearing a hat with it get a hold of truckmaster he's got some Cummins buddies that'll hook you up with probably one big good turbo I've never been a fan of that dual turbo crap.
I like this video I learned a lot thanks Coop.
We need to start calling you jack stand Jimmy!!!!
Great video Cooper
Lovely vlog. Who’s that funny guy always shaking some can or bottle? 😂👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾
Awesome vid Cooper
Looks real familiar. We just put 3/4 ton coil springs on the front of a 1/2 ton 1995 Ram since it has a snow plow on it all year long.
I was just thinking about you earlier today. Wondering if you gave up your you tube videos. Happy New Year
I think you should have cagedthe spring when compressed before removal. Good luck with the turbo pricing. 👍👍
Happy new year. Wish you would post a bit more. Why they sell the t600 is it because it doesn't look the best.
Had to do open heart surgery on my duramax last spring 😔 feel your pain
Very good video cooper do you work on other people’s stuff also or just your own it looks like you like and take pride in working on stuff
Happy New Year 🥳 Cooper
Don’t forget to like the video!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🥰
Happy New Year's from Pennsylvania Horsham
