Replacement Wiffletrees are hard to find. I dont think theres a single one for sale in my city. This is a handy work around. Thanks for the idea

Thank you for the idea! I'm currently doing something similar. I'm curious, how did you remove that front steel bar where the crank attached to? The video cuts out. I tried removing mine but it seems like there is some type of stopper to prevent it from coming out. Did you have to remove the front panel to access?

If your cables aren't guided through the holes on the frame, they will rub the edge of the hole and fray and eventually break. I hope you aren't in it when that happens.

They are through the factory holes in the frame actually, the old cable went right up through the middle and I just added a new hole out the front in a straight line with the other holes, and eliminated the chain and sprockets that put the crank in a more convenient location

How do you attach the 4 cables to the main cable?

You think a 1200 pounds winch would do with a normal roof?

I thought about using a cheap harbor freight ATV winch for it, but decided not to. I hooked up my 2000 pound winch on my quad to it, and it didn't want to lift it, but it had added friction to it because I just ran it under the tongue and hooked it

But I added a lot of weight to the roof, plywood, boards, and heavy aluminum. But think that a 1200 pound winch would lift a normal one.
