The main difference between sci-fi and fantasy is that fantasy says "it's magic bro" and sci-fi says "it's not magic, its science, bro. But for all intents and purposes, its basically just magic"
I definitely agree from a writing stand point. It's won't be very compelling if the audience doesn't understand the magic or science then one character pulls some random crap and saves the day because what the science or magic can do wasn't set up well. The laws of Brandon Sanderson's magic do a better job explaining it than me with the a brain smother than a space station
It depends on how hard the sci fi is. Cyberpunk is usually pretty hard sci-fi, and doesn't have much in terms of fantasy-elements beyond maybe super-intelligent AIs.

This feels like it was made a back when hating on the politics of the Prequels was the cool thing to do. But then after the Sequels came out and had a supreme lack of any insight on the politics of the galaxy (besides a very minor part in Last Jedi), people started to appreciate them more in both the Prequels and the episodes of Clone Wars that put more focus on said politics. Such as how the cost of the Clones was proving detrimental to the citizens of the Republic. But Star Trek (at least from my understanding, it could’ve changed with future shows or movies) gets mostly praise for their portrayal of space politics.

SW always had a lot of tech, but outside novels I don’t think it goes heavily into the schematics of it, in that sense I do think Star Trek has an edge over SW. Now I’m not saying the tech is better or so, but I feel that ST explains its tech better. Now I feel like SW has a little bit of everything. Like you get the tech, you get spirituality, the adventure, drama, the plot twist, the exploration, the iconic villain, the politics and much more. It’s hard to top that specially when SW unveiled all this in theaters first.

It's kinda funny, but for me, older movies of that kind of quality tend to be hard to put on the TV, but once they are actually on, they get better.
This might be the only time I've ever actually seen Star Wars fans arguing with Star Trek fans instead of each other, if you can count it that is.

@@Tim23Vicious Not gonna lie, aside from the fact I've seen the "Star Wars" movies more than enough times, when it comes to Star Trek, I only have seen "Wrath of Khan", and the new Star Trek Trilogy ("Into Darkness" was great); maybe eventually I'll get into the older series.
It's kinda funny, but for me, older movies of that kind of quality tend to be hard to put on the TV, but once they are actually on, they get better.

Filoni's shows are revisionist history that completely change decades-old lore for no reason
It do this because the prelogie was already revisionist and full of contradiction with the og trilogie
