I’m not busting any comment out but always find it interesting when people say an artist is underrated, we’re all on here giving our praise for her as an outstanding artist; how huge globally does she have to be? I reckon that’s why she is soo amazing, she has had the space to create freely without ego & pressure - being ‘too big’ can destroy an artists essence - those who know know
I JUST got it finally on vinyl after buying the CD when it first came out. A perfect album. Leave it to Chris to always find my favorites no matter the genre. He's so hip to everything and a certified musical genius.
absolute perfection. I love the Atomic Dog. And this is a masterful beautiful arrangement. And the opening song is heart wrenchingly true. Thank you Meshell.
sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost the password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
I saw Meshell and her band perform these two songs in Seattle, Wa on Fri 3/8/2019. Atomic Dog was my favorite number of the night. The song seemed longer when I saw her. The keyboardist was so funky mesmerizing. He was my favorite bandmember on every song, but he really rocked it out on this one.
Me’shell’s music and her interpretation of remakes is like no others in the music industry. Fusion, jazz, & funk! It’s music soup for the soul. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Indeed she's highly underrated. But then again, it's always the story of a strong and highly talented Black Woman. Madison Avenue is still afraid of the dark even in 2021. Keep on keep it on Me'Shell. Peace!
I mean, obviously she wants as big an audience as she could for her music, but she always prioritized doing the music she was into rather than trying to play the chart game. You don’t become a giant in the industry with such a challenging and eclectic mix of genres. And who cares? I will follow this woman anywhere she wants to take me!
I simply wanted to comment that maybe one, two other commenters connected the opening to the events of this past year: Breonna Taylor, Duante Wright, George Floyd, Daniel Prude, Stephon Clark, Tamir Rice, and the list goes on. For me, the power of what Meshelle brings to the table. Also, I wonder if Meshell gave a small nod to KRS One... "Officer. Officer, officer." For those who know.
@@cm9241It isn’t pointless just because you disagree. There is much she has in common with Raphael. Incredible bassists, singers, producers, and adventurous minds. It makes perfect sense. There are fewer elite female bassists, and therefore when you compare them to others, there are more men to be compared to than other women. It’s okay to compare and be compared alike, just another way to communicate.
Wow, this sounds like it could've been a track on Herbie Hancock's Headhunters. Such an interesting twist on Clinton's tune. Anyone know the drummer's name? He's so musical. 😎
Check out I Will Survive when the tempo was so slow imo it made the song so much better. It helped me "survive" my major toxic life. If i could find that version on yt it would be on my playlist like this will be. The message is in the music fr

Well said
"Peace Beyond Passion" is a perfect album. An absolute masterpiece that I still listen to. Twenty-six years old, it could have come out yesterday.
FACTS!!!!!

Yes, fully agree...Great album 😊
Criminally underrated.

💯
I Agree
so bloody true
Make a new song instead of doing those kind of Xtrapolation ‘cos they are not cover.
The soul of the original songs has completely disappeared.
Well, that’s a matter of opinion, but if you are interested, check out her multiple albums of original material. They are excellent.
Seeing her is on my bucket list!
absolute perfection. I love the Atomic Dog. And this is a masterful beautiful arrangement. And the opening song is heart wrenchingly true. Thank you Meshell.
Breathtaking. Ever-solidifying her stature as musician's musician. The whole group, especially Chris Bruce, knocks me out here...
This is sooo special, it's awesome. I was at the Beverly Theater, for the "I Break for Atomic Dogs", Tour, in 1983.
Outstanding talented lady and the other musicians are on point.
That drummer is something serious. Just saw them 3/17/24 in Maryland. Absolutely the best live performance I’ve seen in a long time.
Abe Rounds!
Thank you! That’s a BAD boy
I saw her in my city in 2023. The whole show was an experience.
Meshell Genius as ever. Love to see it.
She has always been amazing, but does not get the credit she’s earned! I love the remakes she does. She owns them!!!

No kidding!!!
Have mercy. I'm blown away.
This is incredible! I remember buying Meshell’s first release on cassette back the early 1990’s and being amazed then. This is so good!!
Plantation Lullabies was a classic first release
I just found this! It's even more relevant today.

Evelyn Hargrove - I was there! Outstanding performance indeed!!!!
This will always happened when an intelligent Woman starts making music! :) 🤗🤗🤗
Wow, her music instructs and inspires!
Awesome!!!! I saw her live in Manhattan around 2006 and her show was mindblowing. Another mindblowing performance, thank you for the upload!
i loved Meshell Ndegeocello from the beginning. Sick.
Meshell the great. Awesome like always
Awesome performance!

Abe Rounds is what the drumming world needs right now
she is simply the best!!!
So beautiful... The opening is a sample of Price Of The Ticket, from her latest project Chapter & Verse: The Gospel of James Baldwin.
Above and beyond........ Stunning.

Assolutamente unica. Un'interpretazione tutta sua a tal punto di non sembrare una cover. I ♥️ Meshell
Just amazing
I'm a fan! Thanks for introducing us to great musicians!
This is great she did George Clinton and funk mob justice covering this classic some smooth funk 🤘
My favorite country music-radio funk band. In full effect. Major Dopeness.
She always has amazing talent with her. Jebin Bruni on keys really sets the soaring through space feel here.
Wow! First time hearing of her
Please listen more. She's done a lot of brilliant work over the years.
a massive piece of art.
✊🏾❤️
Beautiful
Amazing! Beautiful.
I saw her perform at Blues Alley in DC and she was amazing.
excellent !!
She's my favorite
Amazing as Always My Queen!!✨💜✨So much love since I found yourMusic and met you in PDX in The early nineties!!🎉Thank you Beautiful.😘✨
Never heard this til today. New respect for Meshell.
excellent!!!
W.O.W. This is everything!!!
yesssss
What an interpretation of George Clinton's song!
Que perfeição!
Would love to see her live
Amazing
Incredible
She had me at “let me run my fingers through your dreadlocks and rub yo’ body down.” 🖤🦋🖤
I mean!
Meshell🤩
dope
magnifique, I do not wish to hear anything else
やっぱりすごいわ。この人。
Makes me think of what The Dead would sound like covering PFunk.
I was just thinking that. The album version sounds very much like John Mayer and Dead & Company covering P Funk
Got me a new drug...
A M A Z I N G
Brilliant. How do we contact Unsung?
"Very good cover of Georges Clinton by Meshell"
This is Fuckin Awesome !
*SMOKING 😳👍🏾*
Woohoo!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Who is the drummer?
Abe Rounds I think
Lord!
Blissfull.
Bad bad bad girl! With a bad bad band! 💕

wow
I’m a huge fan of her music she is the female Raphael Saadiq.
That's a pointless comparison. She's her own artist. She's not a "female" anything. She's meshell ndegeocello.

Thank you!

Abe Rounds I believe.
🙏🌹❤️
Down on all fours when you out there in the street....
Who put the sheet music in front of the guitar players handiwork??? YOU'RE FIRED!!!
💕🙏🏿💕
Six minutes in, and after a guitar solo, we catch a glimpse of the guitarist. Odd camera work.
Is this Alan Evans on drums?
Abe Rounds
who's the guitarist? some of those lines were so nice
Chris Bruce
@@sealevelbearthanks man
Get on down...
....I wondered where Kaepernick went to.
😅
Fellaini sure is better on drums than on the pitch...
Jan Tore Skråmestø .....must be bcs drums don’t mind being kicked!!
*********************************
I like this cover better than the original. Actually, never was a huge fan of the original. But this? Most definitely.
Is that Colin Kapernick ?? I guess if they wont let you play ball you have to do something...lol.....dont worry i ALREADY KNOW its not him,,,,lol
This is awful
Hahahahaha
How?
Atomic Dog should not have a slow tempo. Just leave it alone
@@lauraveney1412 I think it's amazing

Sucked the funk right out of that classic tune.
aprodbassplayer dang bro lol. It’s more like the greatful dead slow down type of hillbilly atomic dog funk😂 but it was cool
I bet you’re fun at parties 😒
@@thezoexperience1 I am the party.
@@aprodbassplayer One person hand party.
Insane take. I bet you George Clinton himself can dig it. Expand your horizons, or go blind in the dark.
👍❤️
