Hey everyone! The takeaway here is that if you were thinking of buying a $400-$500 TV at Target, press pause and look at this TV. It’s just got far better picture quality for the money than just about anything else out there. Hope you all enjoy! Got some seriously big TV reviews coming up next! Edit: to all those requesting a vs with U8K and X90L - great idea, but the X90L was returned to Sony. Also, I think the A95L and Hisense UX reviews, along with the ultimate OLED showdown I have planned would push such a vs. video into 2024.

I am currently boxing up the second U7K to send back because of imperfections in the screen. I am confused to why none of the U7Ks that reviewers have raved about have the imperfection, it is about the size of a grain of rice and on both TVs it appears in the left hand corner. My Sony TV's don't have these marks inside the screen. My OCD would not let me keep these. For the money the quality should be better. Maybe most people don't run a DSE / Hockey test and check the screen and never notice the imperfections. Hisense Screen Quality is not there.

Caleb, I fully agree with you regarding the HiSense U7K. My 10 year Toshiba TV died a few weeks ago and after much research (and before I saw this video) I chose the U7K. Specifically I got the U75K from Costco Direct. It is essentially a U7K with a 3 year warranty. I also like Costco's return policy of 90 days versus Best Buy's 15 day return policy. Other than the off center viewing angle contrast, this TV is fantastic. Though I chose my set before seeing your video, I wanted you to know I've watched several of your videos over the past few weeks and very much enjoy your insight and analysis. Keep up the great work!

Buy the costco warranty and you get 6 years. My old tv had a problem at 4 years and got it repaired thru warranty...they replaced all the LEDs and its good as new. Should've just given me a refund since the cost (per repair company) was $1200 which is the same amount I bought my TV.

I got the 75U7K earlier this week and I love it. Your recommendation led me to this TV. I came from a low end Samsung TV from 5 years ago so this is Day and Night difference. First time having a TV with full array local dimming, and now I can never go back to edge lit. The only thing that could be better is some of the motion handling but you cant have everything. Thank you for helping me in my buying decision.

Caleb, this is an excellent TV, and has a lot of bang for the buck.
I have the 75" version. I can confirm that the 75" size has an IPS panel, and the off angle view is very good. This was one of the main points I considered because I have a wide and shallow game room, so off angle view was important.
I has also considered OLED, but this was $700 less expensive vs. a Samsung 65" S90 series OLED.

I have a 55U8G and a 65U8H and extremely happy with both. The 65U8H was actually $50 cheaper via an Amazon Prime sale and promotion ($750). The 65U8H is my first TV that doesn't require an AVR or soundbar. Sure, movies and similar content do sound better via my Denon AVR and 5.1.2 setup, but who really needs surround sound when watching the 6 o'clock news?

Caleb, I really enjoy your reviews. I'd say I'm nit-nerd adjacent, and when my living room TV stopped working I found your reviews on Digital Trends very informative and helpful. I actually purchased a U7K and agree that it has a great picture. I did however end up returning it and getting the U8K as the price difference wasn't significant and it is indeed brighter, which I like. But the differences would likely be lost on most casual watchers.
One thing I'd love for Hisense to improve would be the quality of the remote. While it functions adequately day-to-day, it is fairly low build quality, especially for the U8K 'Top of the line' model. Hisesese U6K, U7K, U8K in the USA all use the same remote (other models too?). The button layout is just okay, and the back light is much to dim to be useful to anyone. The backlight also requires a button (any button on the remote) to be pushed to active the backlight. The TCL QM series Google TV remotes have brighter more useful backlighting, and it is motion activated as well. The TCL remote build quality just comes off as much nicer than Hisesne's IMHO.

I got the 55" for my 14 y/o son to use with his PS5. I couldn't justify getting him an OLED & this checked all the boxes for me. The way his room is set up he'll never be sitting off angle. It is a very good set & the picture was beautiful once I dialed in the settings. I'm also glad he understands & sees the benefits of this TV over his old one. He actually noticed improved framerate on some of his games & picture quality on some shows of the shows he watches.

My favorites for the technical side for sure
...but i feel very strongly that info like percentage of products returned from unhappy customers for defects, aand current brand reliability & longevity could easily be included as well
In many ways, those are AT LEAST as vital as technical performance when new
I just looked around a bit more, because I'm on the market, and trust these reviews, but noticed those missing components
The forums are flush with people who have returned these 1 year old tv's early, just from drastic
      "dirty screen effect"
      (uniformity problems) upon unboxing alone
Aand consumer reports just dropped Hisense and Vizio because they determined that 20% of their tv's have been failing within the 1st 5 years of ownership
I'd be pretty upset if something like that happened to me for following the advice of a verry pro reviewer

I've been mostly pleased with the picture quality when playing good quality content, and with my "ideal" TV being $1200-1500, I'm very happy with the price/performance so far of this one. I love that you can get so much packed into a Hisense TV for such a good price, but my only concern with Hisense is how long it will last. It's great to see what a TV can do right out of the box, but do you have any data on Hisense TVs over time? I've seen a lot of reviews where they've died after only 2 or 3 years, but I know that could just be a very small percentage since people are more likely to complain about something online. I'm just not sure if it's wroth rolling the dice and hoping for the best on a Hisense TV, or if it's better to get a Samsung, LG, or Sony with fewer features, but maybe a higher probability of lasting longer?
