RIP Seve ... such charisma! A talented golfer who was adored around the world and certainly here in the UK.. not many foreign nationals leave their mark with the British people, only the very special ones do and Seve was certainly that. My dad's favourite golfer of all time (rip dad) 🙏
I always get emotional when I see videos of the grand senior, Seve. He’s my sporting idol. The way he played golf with that cavalier attitude is why everyone loved him. He was so wayward at times but still won tournaments, including majors, because he went for it. His short game was the best ever imo, including Phil. As Nick Price said, most pros have 100 ways to shoot 68. Seve had 1000 ways. His depth of skill was unmatched when he was in his pomp. That win at the 89 open-his final round was the best his great rival Faldo ever saw apparently. Not to mention his match play dominance at Wentworth and The Ryder Cup. He was amazing and when I have a club in my hand he always pops in my head. Via con Dios Seve
Thank you for those words to Seve, my countryman, Severiano. Beautiful words indeed. And it's "Vaya con Dios". Although that's very latinamerican. In Spain we say "Ve con Dios". Greetings.
Oh yes, yes we do. Not only for the Open but what he gave the game of golf throughout. The US Masters, and also the Ryder Cup. When the miracle of Medinah was complete Jose Maria pointed to the skies, blew a kiss and said "that was for you Seve". Funnily enough so did I. And I still do for him.
I ran across the fairway at one of the irish opens and shook hands with seve i did not wash my hands for 3 weeks think i was age 13.? Am 75 now and still playing golf . He was such an inspiration ! Tks seve you touched the lives of so many people you will never be forgotten god bless you pauline sweeney ireland
I was there as a kid with number 5, standing right in line as he played the ball between the bunkers at Birkdale. Great memories. Ballesteros and Trevino - who won The Open at Birkdale were always my golfing heroes. Still are tbf.
Always such a pleasant character on the golf course. A great golfer, without a doubt one of the best of all time. So sad to loose him much too early. R.I.P Seve
Thank you Open Golf for such a wonderful video of the greatest Artist of golf and he provided greatest moment of the Open in the televised era Seve the troubadour of golf on the 18 th St Andrew's Will we ever see his likes again: no At least we have this wonderful film When is his statue being erected overlooking the 18 th next to his soul brother Young Tom Morris either side of the greatest golfer ever Jack Nicklaus A Calvary Hill of golf? It can't be because as the greatest Amatuer must join this parade of the greatest So every golfer can pay homage to them Steve
I grew up idolising Seve. He inspired all of us to try to invent shots round the green. He had the greatest hands of any golfer I’ve seen. Great era and a great man. Still inspiring European golfers.
Still my sporting idol along with Johan Cruyff the football player. I was lucky enough to watch Seve play from very close by during an exhibition match at golfclub De Pan in The Netherlands. I'll never forget the way he hit his short irons and wedge shots. Pure magic, grace and beauty.
Dont seem to have golfers like him, some form of character that you love and inspires to make you want play, we seem to lack that pure passion that him and others had back then
The most charismatic, natural talented, exciting and handsome man that ever walked a golf course. Seve was the Elvis of golf. He is the one that made the crowds scream like crazy fans watching the Beatles. He made golf a more exciting sport.
What I miss about that era was that it emphasised creativity. The variety of shots Seve played, especially round the green made us all try the unusual shots we wouldn’t have dreamt of. For many it wasn’t the best way to a low score because we didn’t have his skill but it brought a new dynamic to the game. I still love the short game most of all and it’s all down to Seve. A hero to many of us.
Seve Ballesteros' greatest skill as a golfer was one that cannot be taught: imagination. Quite simply, he was able to see and execute shots that others didn't and couldn't!
I remember him in... 1976, at Waterloo. He just was 19 and already had such a charism! Among other things, he played so *original* shots, recovering from incredible situations that he obviously lifted crowds.
Man that first chip was daunting as hell. Seve finessed that shot like I've never seen. What a brilliant golf shot ! RIP to the quintessential escape artist !
What a hero to aspire to eh? The handsome, swashbuckling maestro who played shots no one had even tried to imagine before…tragic loss for his family and the world of golf!
Seve ole! What player he was! I watched him live on european tour with other major champions like Langer, woosnam, Lyle, Faldo, couples... That was a golden time for the European tour. Today all goes to USA.
The second shot into 17 at the ‘84 Open was, to Seve, the best shot he ever hit. Kind of ironic that it was not one of the shots in this piece. Golf in his era was the best! There will never be another Seve Ballesteros. I wish he could have played forever! I miss watching him play.
@Steve Smith It was a great birdie by Seve at 18. Watson's made bogey at the road hole, playing a hole behind Seve. When Seve holed the putt, Watson knew it was over falling two back. Certainly a great finish. It would have been Watsons third straight Open
If not for his bad back he would’ve won many more. But anyway the king of the Ryder cup. I am over 60 and he was the best I ever saw. Top man and all the women fancied him!!
He came from humble beginnings, when he was so poor he scratched around on his local course at night, his sheer charisma, charm, willpower and skill drove the European charge of the ryder Cup of the 80s and 90s to immense success. His Co players Faldo, Langer, Lyle, Woosie, and the fellow Spaniards Olazabal and Garcia brought golf to the front pages and were box office. R.I.P Seve.
In 1984 he hit a 3 iron at the par 5 6th, I think, off a very tight downhill lie onto the green. Lee Trevino called out "Touch of class baby" It's one of the greatest shots you could ever see
The 1st shot in between the bunkers..the crowd made a "uuuu" as he missed it probably expecting a kind of flop shot from there ..only Seve could imagine and perform such rolling shot under pressure.
I saw Seve once at the Spanish Open and I promise you that his first shot off the tee is the ONLY time I have heard a golf ball make a noise! It sounded like a small rocket as it went past me.
Seve was the greatest iron golfer of all time. For every ten shots off the tee one might land in the fairway. The rest everywhere else. Absolutely no fear. 🇮🇪
I remember seeing him at the Scottish Open in the 80s I believe he had done a deal with an aftershave brand it was about to launch ( I won’t name it ) Seve must have bathed in the stuff you could smell him all over the course. What a healthy looking man he was such a tragedy he passed away so young.
RIP Seve ... such charisma! A talented golfer who was adored around the world and certainly here in the UK.. not many foreign nationals leave their mark with the British people, only the very special ones do and Seve was certainly that. My dad's favourite golfer of all time (rip dad) 🙏
I bet Peter Thomson and Tom Watson did
I always get emotional when I see videos of the grand senior, Seve. He’s my sporting idol. The way he played golf with that cavalier attitude is why everyone loved him. 1988
Me and many of us too. Had the pleasure of watching Seve many times and always felt privileged.
the greatest in my opinion
Thank you for those words to Seve, my countryman, Severiano. Beautiful words indeed. And it's "Vaya con Dios". Although that's very latinamerican. In Spain we say "Ve con Dios". Greetings.
@@aduntoridas80The greatest. A Spaniard by birth but we loved him here in the UK like he was our own. R.I.P. legend.
last one still gives me chills rip great man
When Seve smiled, the whole world smiled, when Seve frowned we all looked at our feet.
It doesn’t matter who there is to watch, no one can replace Seve.
It is remarkable how much Seve wa,s and still is, loved in the UK. They adore him.
Yes we did. And still do. Never forgotten.
Sève on the green and Alliss on the microphone. The best golf ever got….in the 80s.
And I still do for him.
what a player and we will never see the likes of seve again
Seve at his best is the greatest golfer ever 👏👏👏
True 👍 ✔️
Managed to bump into Seve at the 2005 Open. Gave me his autograph and chatted or a few minutes. A special memory.
Lucky you 😅
What a man, what a player. His mark on The Ryder Cup will never diminish.
He possessed a short game others can only dream about. The most amazing hands I’ve ever seen.
What a wonderful man seve was. Sorely missed from the game of golf.
Not sure your maths adds up. How old was Seve when you saw him, 4?
People think Seve was at his best in the early 80's but apparently you witnessed him at his best when he was a toddler.
Golf was never the same for me after Seve stopped playing. My hero as a kid.
Un hombre de pueblo, en el Olimpo de los dioses. Gracias Seve, un saludo desde tú Tierruca.🏌️🏌️🏌️💫💫💫💫👏👏👏
Amazing Seve! We miss you as golfer and true human being.
I was there as a kid with number 5, standing right in line as he played the ball between the bunkers at Birkdale. Great memories. Ballesteros and Trevino - who won The Open at Birkdale were always my golfing heroes. Still are tbf.
A true gentleman of the sport and a smile to match! Missed dearly for sure. ❤️
Always such a pleasant character on the golf course. A great golfer, without a doubt one of the best of all time. So sad to loose him much too early. R.I.P Seve
Cracking video. So many happy memories. What a player, what a man!!
In 2 days we'll remember you passed away,Seve....I'm so sad when I see your videos...
May you rest in peace 💔🙏
I was on the 18th green at Lytham in 1979 with my friend Kenny. We were 16 and seeing Seve win was very joyous. Happy days.

Everyone talks about his unworldly short game but I always thought he had the most graceful golf swing I've ever seen.
I grew up idolising Seve. He inspired all of us to try to invent shots round the green. He had the greatest hands of any golfer I’ve seen.
Great era and a great man. Still inspiring European golfers.

No 4 is the most beautiful swing I've ever seen.
That iconic fist pump at the end is child like Seve and all the joy he and this wonderful game has bought to us. May God rest his soul.
The most charismatic, natural talented, exciting and handsome man that ever walked a golf course. Seve was the Elvis of golf. He is the one that made the crowds scream like crazy fans watching the Beatles. He made golf a more exciting sport.
Seve's bump and run between the bunkers will be remembered forever. RIP Seve.
Shots are incredible but the unmitigated joy on his face even more so.
When Nick Faldo cries at your funeral you are something very special.
We ALL wanted to be Seve and play golf like he did! Some of his pars are more legendary than anything!
Aah memories memories. What a player!!!!
Seve, a gentleman and an idol for millions, a true legend of the game sadly taken too early . Rip Seve 👏👏👏
Seve Ballesteros' greatest skill as a golfer was one that cannot be taught: imagination. Quite simply, he was able to see and execute shots that others didn't and couldn't!
The last one. Smiles and chills. Legend.
Bananas just how inspiring, entertaining and mercurial a character he was, a once in a lifetime player
He was so fun to watch. Love Seve rip.
Nobody better 👍
A true legend!
I remember him in... 1976, at Waterloo. He just was 19 and already had such a charism! Among other things, he played so *original* shots, recovering from incredible situations that he obviously lifted crowds.
Brings a lump to my throat.....it seems that every shot was invented in the moment, his talent was ridiculous ❤
Man that first chip was daunting as hell. Seve finessed that shot like I've never seen. What a brilliant golf shot ! RIP to the quintessential escape artist !
I think the chip on 18 to win the 88 Open was by far his best shot, noting the difficulty of the shot and the execution under max pressure.
What a player, what a man. RIP.
The best and much missed.
Love this man
Seve the goat 🐐 great golfer and personality. Gone to soon rip
WE LOVE YOU SEVE 🏴❤️
Que Grande SEVE, que GRANDE, siempre en el recuerdo 💪 FOR EVER
The goat of the short game .
Admired him that much. I had his foundation emblem tattooed on my arm! Legend!
His gait when he was in the thick of it is just awesome.
Absolutely a legend seve was 😊
Elmajor golfista del munde. My hero for eternal.
In terms of creativity and being innovative in tricky situations Seve was the best…
What a hero to aspire to eh? The handsome, swashbuckling maestro who played shots no one had even tried to imagine before…tragic loss for his family and the world of golf!
Good golfer .. played with intensity and emotion
Seve ole! What player he was! I watched him live on european tour with other major champions like Langer, woosnam, Lyle, Faldo, couples... That was a golden time for the European tour. Today all goes to USA.
I always think of his wonderful golf playing the Ryder Cup at The Belfry
The second shot into 17 at the ‘84 Open was, to Seve, the best shot he ever hit. Kind of ironic that it was not one of the shots in this piece. Golf in his era was the best! There will never be another Seve Ballesteros. I wish he could have played forever! I miss watching him play.
I remember the last one well; a great putt he made, to win at St Andrews, when he was battling Tom Watson the last few holes
@Steve Smith It was a great birdie by Seve at 18. Watson's made bogey at the road hole, playing a hole behind Seve. When Seve holed the putt, Watson knew it was over falling two back. Certainly a great finish. It would have been Watsons third straight Open
Que gran golfista y con una gran educación en todos los campos
A true magician
God bless you Sevvy
The greatest short game practioner ever.
Followed Seve around Torrey Pines and he 'stalked' the course, so aggressive, fun to see.
It's one of the greatest shots you could ever see
The best ever
The best golfer of all time, everyone copied him after
Never better !!
Legend
His best shot of all time was when he played off a flint wall at St. Pierre, over a bunker onto the green. Shot in a million
Such a shame we lost him so young. 😞
Had a unique way of chipping the ball soo effective. R.I.P
4:17 it looks like a mirror image/reflection, especially when they both reach down at the same time. Haha
Glorious
Love the old way of taking a drop.
The 1st shot in between the bunkers..the crowd made a "uuuu" as he missed it probably expecting a kind of flop shot from there ..only Seve could imagine and perform such rolling shot under pressure.
Gotta love the days when you could park right off the fairway lol
Park and Ride was an hour at Sandwich in the summer
But less love for the days when you had to drop over your shoulder
The most gifted hands in professional golf!
It’s almost as if he couldn’t focus unless his back was against the wall
I saw Seve once at the Spanish Open and I promise you that his first shot off the tee is the ONLY time I have heard a golf ball make a noise! It sounded like a small rocket as it went past me.
The best ever!!
Europe's Talisman 🇪🇺🇪🇺 Touch of Class Babe, Touch of Class
The greatest.
A pure ledgend....

Seve was the greatest iron golfer of all time. For every ten shots off the tee one might land in the fairway. The rest everywhere else. Absolutely no fear. 🇮🇪
Never to be forgotten, CLASS, ⛳🏌️♂️🏌️♂️♥️
Se me ponen los pelos de punta cada vez que lo veo.
F------------ genius ❤️✊
The first 4 are from Royal Lytham & St Annes and the last is St Andrews. Maybe other opens could have contributed
#BBCSPORTS BALLESTEROS GOLFMANIA 🇪🇸
Great to see golfers not wearing horrible baseball caps
I remember seeing him at the Scottish Open in the 80s I believe he had done a deal with an aftershave brand it was about to launch ( I won’t name it ) Seve must have bathed in the stuff you could smell him all over the course. What a healthy looking man he was such a tragedy he passed away so young.
