However, as for Twisting Path I gotta say that every time I've helped a player figure out why they're not getting Major Expedition, so far it's always been because they're either DPS-dancing and moving out of their own Path, or they're placing their dummy on top of a furnishing so the AOE doesn't work correctly. Hard to know for sure. From my testing, Zaan should be slightly stronger than Slimecraw + Whispers, but not by much. Keep in mind that I used max Stamina food and 7 x Medium to hit 132k.

Any suggestion for a budget build? I have the nine maces, but eso is hard bent on never giving me the daggers, and I’m a returning player so I have yet to farm Relq. I tank all the trials and dungeons so I never carded about keeping dps sets until now. I have every monster helm and mythic. I’ve just been using maces brain, Zaan any suggestion for a relq sub set?
You want that Minor Slayer buff, so ideally find a trial set like Riptide, Lokkestiiz, War Machine, Ansuul, Yandir etc. Berserking Warrior is also very strong (maybe a nice substitute for Nirn), but it's a Heavy set so it must go on weapons and jewellery. If you wanna go crafted, then Order's Wrath is solid too.
No 'build' is capable of anything - only players are. And yes, while you could definitely clear vMA with this setup, it's designed for group content and I'd advise changing a few things for solo stuff (self-heal, a more reliable source of Major Resolve and some AOE damage). I run Sul-Xan instead of Relequen for a start, but the right build depends on the player. The best thing you can do is read your tooltips and make your own setup.
Sustain is way too low on the dummy. In content it should work better, but mileage will vary greatly and you risk wrecking your execute unless you do something like switching potions at 35%. For me, sets like Riptide and Bahsei are for when sustain is nice and HIGH, not when you're struggling for resources.
Nice vid! There is just something I seem to be missing in ESO.. I play a lv 400 ish stam Nightblade with 2 armor sets (Hunding's Rage and Night Mother), have set my champion point according to a build guide and all, but I just don't seem to get above 15k damage and I don't understand how I can improve it. What did strike me as odd if I compare stats here, is that you have around 10k more stamina than my char :o any ideas what I could be missing?
Hey there - thanks for the comment! Sounds like there a few things missing from your build. If you’re on Discord, join the Ninja Pulls server at discord.gg/ninjapulls and tag me. I’d be happy to help with some tips. Also, if you’re on PC you can post Combat Metrics screenshots and I can go over the whole rotation as well as the build. We do this on Twitch every Thursday.
Generally the newest setup is the one to use. But particularly so here, since this is both easier and stronger than the U38 build. I recommend using this (or a tweaked version) if you can.
You just recast all your DOTs every 15 seconds (except Carve) even though 3 of them last quite a bit longer. You burn through resources pretty fast though.
great vid, im still getting the hang of things in eso but i gotta ask what is "bow proc" and or "proc" ??? i keep hearing it all over and dont know what that means ??
Honestly I wouldn’t use a bow unless you absolutely want the range. The Merciless Charge + Rapid Strikes combo is so nice and you’ll lose a lot of DPS without it. Sustain will also be harder. But the switch itself is easy: swap the 2H DOTs for bow DOTs and swap Rapid Strikes for Lethal Arrow. Hope that answers your question.
Hi, thx for this rotation. But i´m still gonna leave my NB in the closet for some time and play my stamsorc instead. It´s just so much easier and the redguard race gives him infinite sustain. I believe the main thing that needs to change for NBs is the sustain. Because atm it uses a mixture of stamina and magicka abilities, sustaining either version is just so bad.
I mean, my first recommendation to anyone would be to try it, practise with it and you might learn to love it. But if you just can't get there I guess you'll have to use Silver Shard/Bolts. It is a significant damage loss however. Good luck either way!
Hi, maybe you can land me a hand here. Im a 90cp nightblade. I feel terribly squishy in dungeons and pvp is pretty much same. My friends on the other hand play same Time as me but seems easier to manage. What do I do wrong?
Check your resistances. You should always make sure you're getting Major Resolve in PvE (Shadow Barrier passive, or a Warden support in your group). PvP is a whole different story.
Good question. It was the first character I made, for a start. I love the way Nightblade looks and feels, especially the bow proc and execute. It's fast-paced and always dynamic, so you're making decisions and not just pushing buttons. That's when combat in this game is at its best for me, and Nightblade does it better than any other class.
Hi there! The 2 guides are for 'single target' (bosses) and 'trash setup' for the adds usually in between bosses. Like the group of baddies here in Kyne's Aegis: ruclips.net/video/oMeHPLBOe0c/видео.htmlfeature=shared&t=135 Same setup will not work effectively, esp. in vet dungeons and trials. I am actually working on a video specifically about trash setups, which should hopefully be out soon!
Since you don’t use the bow proc, could you just slot that ability on your backbar and have something else on your frontbar (like path, I find it easier to maintain the Major Berserk buff that way. Or swap it with debilitate, and instead of it use deadly cloak for major evasion) Also, how would you alter your build/skill slots if you’re in an optimized group with good Major Berserk uptime?
How do you animation cancel so smoothly? I slowed down the video and I still can't see animations for barbed trap etc, all I can see is the skill refreshing. I play on pc with a controller, and I can parse over 120k with every class except Necro, but my rotation looks so janky and hectic compared to yours. I've got to go full try hard to hit those numbers and it looks like you're just casually pushing buttons lol.
Also, what do you recommend instead of 2h? I've never been able to parse or play well with 2h for some reason. I was thinking about using a bow instead of a flame staff.
Thanks for the comment @@chrisdfx1! I don't do anything special - just weave as close to once per second as I can. I guess you also want the LA and ability to be *almost* simultaneous, with like 20ms between them ideally. Dunno if that helps! As for the 2H back bar, just bite the bullet and practise with it - I think this patch it's too good not to use! If you always cast Path RIGHT after Stampede you shouldn't have any trouble. But if you're really hating it, then I'd go with the Bow.
@@NinjaPulls ahh coolio! You know recently I made a really weird tank filled or I guess I should say I'm still making but at least have it worked out for the most part of them doing with it that basically revolves around the Tormentor and Rush of Agony sets paired up with the nightblades mass Hysteria and sap essence as well as using the Masters battle axe pair with concealed-weapons bonus from the restoring path of Shadows and the Ambush abilities morph that gives you Empower and minor berserk as well as also just the benefit of being at least stage 2 vamp and having the new merciless resolved that gives you the whole 400 weapon and spell damage with all of it combining to give you roughly around like 30,000 resistances as well as a mass pull and a mass taunt and just flat-out ridiculous damage thanks to the Masters battle axe and cleave and I am currently also deciding if I should get the one that boosts up Stampede but I don't remember what that one is and I kind of want to use these weapons with the new harlequin costume
@@NinjaPulls like the sheer amount of lifesteal you get because of how much damage you have and also the fact of reading blows being a thing since you can get like upwards of like 6K weapon and spell damage and if you really wanted to, I was also playing around with the concept of having shadowy disguise somewhere so that way I can also get the benefit have one extra Shadow ability for some more max health Plus also major prophecy and savagery on top of the Minor prophecy and savagery you already get as a Nightblade
Not sure what you mean. You should always get all the passives for any gear/weapons you are using, plus class, race and guild passives. This never changes. Hope that answers your question.
Thanks! Garden is looking great, I have no use for a radio, already walked the dog this morning, don't own any guns (because I live in a normal country) and never heard of pickle ball but it looks like it's for olds, so I'll pass. Maybe rugby?
A Healer! Honestly I never need self heals unless I'm in a portal mechanic or some other situation where the Healer can't reach me. But if you're talking about PUGs where Healers may be absent or usless, then I'd use sustain food, keep up the Shadow Barrier passive and slot Resolving Vigor on the back bar.
cute vid. I used to be a nightblade enjoyer myself back in 2018 - and since then direction has been simplify and remove, hence i dont think skill-based gameplay is comming back. alas atleast someone keeps hoping
Hey there - always good to meet fellow Nightblade enjoyers! But I don’t quite agree. Nightblade has recently been getting more complicated than ever - that’s the whole reason this simplified rotation is so attractive. Using the bow proc is stronger, but so much more complicated. In other areas of the game you do have a point though (Oakensoul for instance) but I think the devs know it’s broken and bad, but are slow-balling their response to avoid outrage from players who love it.
@@NinjaPulls Depends on ur definition of more complicated than ever. There was a hot minute when the focus provided crit but the tick wouldnt calculate in instantly so u had to hold ur bowproc for half a second lower to maximize damage. Also certain animation cancels, bashweaving and unique conditions for some sets are gone entirely - so i stand by my point of simplification and would challenge your opinion. However if you compare to recent changes I can see your point. To be fair I have been in tank jail for a long time, last time I played dd must have been during wolfhunter or smt, trying to get world records.
It’s all there. Just check the CMX at the end of the video. The ideal CP will depend on your group (crit buffs, pen etc.) but in optimal conditions or against the dummy, just use what I use here.
Whorl of the Depths is good. Berserking Warrior too. I imagine Deadly Strike would also work pretty well (there's a surprising amount of damage over time here), it just won't buff your execute.
I never liked the idea of mixing the resource types. It’s what made me quit. I wish ZoS would make stam and mag their own things again. The days of Staff/Staff + Light and Dagger/Bow + Med were peak as they each had their own place in any trial or content (outside of pvp).
I hear you, but the current system has fewer drawbacks overall. ZOS always wanted player freedom like other TES games, and Swords were meta for some Magicka classes very early on. Daggers were also meta long before dynamic scaling was introduced, and Stamina players could never get into trials (we were one of the few guilds that permitted it). Yes, hybridisation was bad for build diversity but by other objective measures it was a big improvement. Problem is that so many of us have a subjective attachment to the 'good old' days, which I totally understand. But maybe give ESO another try in 2024 - it's still one of the best combat systems out there.
From how the wrote the patch notes, it doesn't seem like they couldn't find a solution to make nb relevant again. It seems like they just wanted to make it more simple which KILLS the fun of the class... Now it's just extremely boring to use
I used to play nb the last few years, but i see no reason to put so much effort into this class to do damage when clases like the arcanist exist where you press like 3-4 for higher and more consistent damage in boss encounters and ad pulls.
Check the build I'm using here: www.ninja-pulls.com/dps/nightblade#magicka You could use Rapid Strikes with potions for Stamina, but I figured I'd keep it Mag for this one!

Thanks! It refers to the ‘Spectral Bow’ that becomes available to fire when Relentless Focus/Merciless Charge reaches 5 stacks. Hope that helps.
@@NinjaPulls thanks it does help :)
if I wanted to do this with a bow. What would I swap out?
Because atm it uses a mixture of stamina and magicka abilities, sustaining either version is just so bad.
what to use instead of rapid strikes, my least liked ability anything but this
I mean, my first recommendation to anyone would be to try it, practise with it and you might learn to love it.
Thank you would you mind share with me the reason you play this class and why do you like it so much😅?
Good question. It was the first character I made, for a start. I love the way Nightblade looks and feels, especially the bow proc and execute. It's fast-paced and always dynamic, so you're making decisions and not just pushing buttons. That's when combat in this game is at its best for me, and Nightblade does it better than any other class.
Hello, do the skills marked "trash" on the mini-guide mean that it is better to kill weak enemies with these skills, or that these skills are useless?
Hi there!
The 2 guides are for 'single target' (bosses) and 'trash setup' for the adds usually in between bosses. Like the group of baddies here in Kyne's Aegis: ruclips.net/video/oMeHPLBOe0c/видео.htmlfeature=shared&t=135
Same setup will not work effectively, esp. in vet dungeons and trials.
I am actually working on a video specifically about trash setups, which should hopefully be out soon!
@@NinjaPulls thank you so much
Since you don’t use the bow proc, could you just slot that ability on your backbar and have something else on your frontbar
(like path, I find it easier to maintain the Major Berserk buff that way.
Or swap it with debilitate, and instead of it use deadly cloak for major evasion)
Also, how would you alter your build/skill slots if you’re in an optimized group with good Major Berserk uptime?
I suppose you can, but you'll lose crit % and gain nothing.
Bow on bb is bad idea youll lose alot of damage on your defense bar
If I want to play 2h ont frontbar what’s spammable I can use ??
Wrecking Blow. But it will be much weaker.
@@NinjaPulls I currently use Silver Bolts with Concealed Weapon for major berserk
Same story. Why not use Wrecking Blow if you already have a 2H?
What dagger style are those you have equipped?
The red glowing ones are Balorgh Daggers.
Outta curiosity what are those weapon motifs you are using?
Balorgh arms pack
@@NinjaPulls like the sheer amount of lifesteal you get because of how much damage you have and also the fact of reading blows being a thing since you can get like upwards of like 6K weapon and spell damage and if you really wanted to, I was also playing around with the concept of having shadowy disguise somewhere so that way I can also get the benefit have one extra Shadow ability for some more max health Plus also major prophecy and savagery on top of the Minor prophecy and savagery you already get as a Nightblade
where are the passives on the guides
Not sure what you mean. You should always get all the passives for any gear/weapons you are using, plus class, race and guild passives. This never changes. Hope that answers your question.
ooh okay thanks, what about champion point on the guide it only talks about warfare points what about the other 2
@@NinjaPulls
Not a fan of Relequen. Can someone give me 3 alternative options to Rele for this rotation?
Coral Riptide or Whorl of Depths(weapons/jewelry) are pretty good subs.
Oh why’s that? Not a fan of damage?
Go outside and plant a garden. Build a radio, walk your dog, clean your guns, play pickle ball!
Thanks! Garden is looking great, I have no use for a radio, already walked the dog this morning, don't own any guns (because I live in a normal country) and never heard of pickle ball but it looks like it's for olds, so I'll pass. Maybe rugby?
Nice.
Thanks! 🤩
what do you use for heals in actual combat?
@@NinjaPulls Gotchya! Thank you.
What mundus do you run with this build?
PvE damage setups almost always use The Thief.
that's what i figured, thank you!!!
@@NinjaPulls
@@Schared lmfao your idea of "complicated" is playing around bugs and oversights by zos, blade rn is the hardest it's ever been to perform on
@@Acooky. Your parroting another statement and to answer anyway, yes. Its all about playing around the sticks thrown in your way.
@@Schared no it's not, having to play around buggy interactions isn't class identity nor complexity it's stupidity.
What about my champion points though
It’s all there. Just check the CMX at the end of the video. The ideal CP will depend on your group (crit buffs, pen etc.) but in optimal conditions or against the dummy, just use what I use here.
What to use other than pillar of nirnv
Whorl of the Depths is good. Berserking Warrior too. I imagine Deadly Strike would also work pretty well (there's a surprising amount of damage over time here), it just won't buff your execute.
@@NinjaPulls it might sounds weird but Venomous Smite is a good option. It deals slightly less damage then nirn but easier to obtain.
Yeah @@kaas228, sounds fine to me!
What two handed sword style is that ?
I guess it’s the Balorgh style you’re asking about. It’s a nice one!
@@NinjaPulls damn.. had to be one I can’t get, it looks soo good! Ty :)
Yeah @@ChrisQueally-i5v I know the feeling! Sorry for the bad news :)
Thanks for your Nightblade-Content!! :) Why do you only start with Killers Balde at 35% and not at 50%? From 50% you already get the bonus?
The scaling only BEGINS at 50%. That's why it's still weak at 50% but keeps getting stronger until it becomes utterly insane at 10% or so.
Only stam version scale right
? And for the magic version?@@NinjaPulls
@@bazbeen4070 Yes. Only stam scales, Magicka just kicks in.

From how the wrote the patch notes, it doesn't seem like they couldn't find a solution to make nb relevant again. It seems like they just wanted to make it more simple which KILLS the fun of the class... Now it's just extremely boring to use
Could be. I'm not sure they realised that the combination of vMA 2H with Rapid Strikes and Relentless Focus would tip things over quite so far.
I used to play nb the last few years, but i see no reason to put so much effort into this class to do damage when clases like the arcanist exist where you press like 3-4 for higher and more consistent damage in boss encounters and ad pulls.
Yeah the Arcanist does have a whiff of "Oakensoul Part 2" about it.
What about a mag? keep the daggers but use the maelstrom fire staff id imagine?
Check the build I'm using here: www.ninja-pulls.com/dps/nightblade#magicka
You could use Rapid Strikes with potions for Stamina, but I figured I'd keep it Mag for this one!
CP ?
It is in the video and all the information is listed on our website: www.ninja-pulls.com/dps/nightblade
