Any recommendations for what gear to run pre-trials? I'm just around cp 550 and still gearing up, I don't have any slayer sets yet, also still trying to farm for my velothi. I really really enjoy runecarver on its own merit, I've parsed 73k with absolute dog-shit gear (RCB + Pillar) and Runecarver is pretty consistently one of the biggest contributors to my overall DPS. Holding my own in vet dungeons, but Pillar is not doing as well as I expected from all the recommendations. Wondering if there might be a better option? Should I stick to another bursty proc set or go for a set that gives me more crit?
Try Order’s Wrath maybe. You need stats from somewhere or the proc sets don’t have much to work with. Pillar should be pretty solid on single target stuff, but if it ain’t working it ain’t working. Ultimately though, hop into some normal trials - sounds like you’ll find them extremely easy. Thanks! Are you asking about running Runecarver & Azureblight at the same time? Totally doable, but only in specific fights. Losing Minor Slayer is a shame, but with enough targets the procs will make up for it. The sword pose is from the Maniacal Jester personality, which sometimes comes back around Halloween.

I don't think so, as most DPS from templar comes from channels. Reason it works so well on a DK is because they got the most DOT abilities of any class
Adam is correct that Runecarver isn't a great fit with the Templar toolkit and general playstyle. DK and especially Necro are the BIG winners from this set. But if you just WANT to use the set on a Templar, sure, you can make it work. Just don't expect top tier damage,
Against single targets Null Arca isn’t great. But if you need something with Minor Slayer against multi-targets and cannot use Riptide, Null Arca is good. But it’s a very different set to Relequen so it’s hard to compare.
I've never thought about building my rotation on 'how many talons have i done so this is running out'. Thankyou. Aslo I noticed you are running Master At Arms and Deadly Aim with Exploiter instead of a lot of people I see running Deadly and Thaulmaturge. Is this to buff Runecarver and does it also buff Rele?
Yes, the Runecarver proc is direct, single target damage. Without this set I think a typical DK should be running Deadly Aim + Thaumaturge, but with Runecarver the direct damage comes out ahead. Relequen is a single target DOT. It’s all about your total % of damage types. Often it’s best to run Deadly + Master-At-Arms AND Thaumaturge because in content there won’t be enough uptime on Off Balance for Exploiter to be worthwhile. As always it depends on the group. Hope that helps!
@@NinjaPulls Thanks it does. Also when you show the rotation in your video you show its skill with a big icon flowing from right to left, some are blue outline, some are not. Is this a video editing thing to show us the rotation or is it an actual Addon to help show you your rotation?
How are you sustaining the 2h skills is it because of medium armor passives? Ive tried a similar setup but in light armor and it will not sustain always run out of stam at some point
Forgive the really dumb question, it’s been a while since I last played with this build even using a couple steam abilities am I putting all attributes into magicka?
Tbh viper set from fungal grotto for the dk is actually really strong too, producing similar numbers with nirn and aegis with the odd parse hitting harder due to poison proc rng
Looking for tips for a solo build. I have a dark elf, interested in testing a mag build and if it can possibly sustain. Thank you 🙏 for including the latest updates. It helps to know what to look for in DKs
Depends on what you're soloing. If it's just overland stuff and Arcs 1-2 in Infinite Archive, I'd personally just use a full-damage trash setup. But if you're doing arenas or soloing dungeon hard modes then you'll need some tankiness and heals, and probably quite different from the setup shown here.
Is it a hefty dps loss if i am not able to keep the runecarver 5pc effect going on both bars? I do not have relequen daggers but i do have runecarver daggers?
Depends on what you mean by "hefty"! It IS quite a big loss (4-5k I think) but that's assuming a tip-top flawless execution. And even then it's not enough to completely kill the setup. Hope that helps!
I would use the sets in this very video. Relequen + Runecarver will work great almost anywhere, but obviously try to have a setup for trash fights as well. Not sure I'd recommend a Resto Staff on a DPS though - better to bring a Healer and let them handle all that stuff.
Hey! Very nice video! Unfortunately, i dont have the kilt. Could i use a full monster set like zaan as a replacement? Thank you for all you guys do. Best eso content creators hands down!
Thanks for the kind words! Yeah a monster set with Backstabber instead of Exploiter will work fine. I recommend Selene over Zaan though (so long as you're using Dual Wield on the front bar), since we already have so much Burning uptime and the Sundered uptime from the Selene proc is pretty valuable now.
@@skyreaper6472 No it's not just for the dummy - we all use it in dungeons and trials all the time. Obviously in solo content it won't work, but if you're getting hit in group content then you or your tank is doing something wrong! great video and how it's set up. One thing to note - I thought Azureblight explosion was per user while the build up is shared. In other words, the more azureblight users there are, the better because the build up is near instant and everyone gets the proc.
Can i expect to hit 100k parse with ansuuls/runecarver with maelstrom fire staff BB and velothi? Just not sure how good my setup will parse if i had the correct abilities and rotation
Totally fine, but Deadly isn’t a great set for Dragonknight since we deal a lot of direct damage which isn’t buffed by the set. Runecarver (if you have it) will be quite a bit stronger with a typical DK rotation. But Ansuul + Deadly is not a bad start. Hope that helps!
any tip for bar swapping after Stampede smoothly? I always stuck with 2H bar using Stampede. People said I needed to press "w" (move forward) when flying. I tried but it didn't help.
I actually cover this in the video - just pair it up with another ability. Eruption isn't 15s, but because it's a free cast with an upfront hit, recasting it early each time is kinda perfect. On other classes I use other abilities to do the same thing.

It sounds glib, but either replace the Healer or just overcast Carve for the shield. You could also replace Claw with Embers for a soft HOT and/or slot a burst heal like Green Dragon Blood or Resolving Vigor. This shouldn't be needed except for a few REALLY tough fights. Good luck with it!
@@NinjaPulls thank you very much! Curious, do you think ranged magic dps builds will ever be a thing again? It seems daggers is basically a must these days.
Can you update your website with this soon! Hard to redo my build off videos sometimes. This looks awesome. I kind of retired my pvp DK and will use my other armory slot for DPS probably!
Hello. Since in the 125K parse you cast Deadly Cloak on cooldown, thus dynamically and you only have Claw and FoO slotted and you must overcast FoO to keep the 3 Seething Fury stacks, why don't you replace Deadly Cloak with Noxious Breath. This way you replace a stamina dot with a stamina dot and you can keep Seething stacks without overcasting anything. Not sure though if Deadly Cloak adds more dps compared to Noxious Breath.
Deadly Cloak is just stronger, particularly since it’s a source of Major Evasion AND keeps our glyphs proccing constantly. With the changes to status effects it’s more valuable than ever. Also, Noxious is still way longer than 15s so I would still have to cast FOO early now and then. But if you want a longer DOT and you need Noxious/Engulfing, you’re thinking along exactly the right lines.
Okay, so apparently I'm an idiot and need it spelled out for me lol. What weapon enchantments do I need on the front daggers and the back bar( running vma fire staff) if not fire/poison. Gaaaaa need a written guide lol
Yeah, hybridisation was over 2 years ago, so it must have been happening just as you left. Now all damage abilities scale to your offensive stats regardless of resource cost, so there's a LOT of power in using abilities from BOTH resource pools. Plus Daggers have always had better stats that Staves. Hope that makes sense - good luck!
@@NinjaPulls thank you. Yeah I left after the first DLC in Greymoore… maybe it was over 2 years ago. I appreciate it, this was a great video. Would you say it’s relevant in Gold Road?
@@seantor5857 you'll need to use the food and potions recommended here, and make sure you have all the passives required. It'll also depend on your supports, length of fight etc. But the sustain here is pretty good so you shouldn't be having issues. Feel free to join the Discord and DM me if it the issue persists.
Feel free. Whorl is fine, but 2 Light sets will ruin Crit Damage and sustain. I don’t think it’ll make things simpler - on the contrary. You’d have to change the rotation, drop some Stamina abilities, losing yet more damage and so on. It CAN be made to work without Relequen if that’s what you want - join the Discord if you want any tips! Good luck.
It's situational. In top-tier groups with Encratis, Igneous, perfect use of Pillager's and Heroism Potions, MagDK is insanely good. Stamina has LESS Flame Damage and cannot sustain Blockade + Talons as easily (preferable to Stampede sometimes). But for the *average* group much of this stuff doesn't apply, and there are stronger DPS options as you say. Honestly it's one of the toughest things to make people understand in this game!
honestly one of the biggest hurdles is the stam sustain, it seems to run out by my third or fourth rotation after my ult and unable to cast my stam abilities and my dps falls off
Hmm that’s odd. Assuming you’re using the same Armor weights, consumables and all the relevant passives, that shouldn’t be happening. Double check them just in case, and if you can’t find the cause please join the guild Discord (see description) and I’ll happily take a look at a CMX report. Just DM Kaan (that’s me).
@@NinjaPullshey I appreciate your feedback. I had someone take a look and I was recasting my dots too early. Recently hit 106k as my dps but want to be able to do 110k for safe keeping. Will post later on discord.
Yes! They hybridised the combat system 2 years ago so ANY setup can use ANY weapons/abilities they want. Obviously you have to be careful with sustaining your resources, but apart from that you can do whatever - it’s great.
Ughhh I honestly hate the way this game has ended up. I’m a day one console player who hit endgame early on (I’m talking months into the game). I’ve been playing on and off then took a massive break then restarted on PC less than a year ago. Does anyone still have such a hard time grasping the fact that “Magicka” builds now use dual wield front bar, medium armor, and 2h back bar, and stamina skills? I mean, I remember the time when dual wield swords were a thing for Magicka characters but it was short lived. I just dislike that the game has involved into hybrid builds and this stems from the fact that most sets now give you weapon and spell damage and your skills scale off which ever resource is higher rather than purely mag or stam. I also understand this opens the door to use different abilities, but I guess I am just too stuck on the old ways. I miss those days were you could just focus on resource and one weight of armor and be done with a build until next patch, but I guess the devs need to spice things up.
Race doesn't matter - player execution is infinitely more important. Altmer/Dunmer/Khajiit are the best ones for Magicka, but the rest are only a few % behind at most. Hope that helps.
You can make it work, but sustain is harder and damage is lower with double bar destro since you don't have as much stam costing skills. You probably would need stamina breathe, caltrops, and/or the undaunted spider. Otherwise you just burn too much magicka. Maybe with parse food or witchmother/clockwork.
Yeah it’s surprising, but it’s been that way for years. But as I say in the video, Destro back bar works great so long as you can sustain it (which is easier in groups than on the dummy) and is preferable to 2H in some situations. As for the front bar, having melee weapons makes sense since Whip is a melee ability.
Just about every DD needs to use the same meta sets. Super boring. Why can't ZOS design gear that buffs specific classes/class skills, like they attempted (yet mostly failed) with the Infinite Archive sets. Or retune the tons of sets that are 100% ignored. I simply find it so tiresome to see the same sets required over and over. (not your fault obv🙏)
This is one the reasons I’m so glad Runecarver is back on the scene - only DKs and Necros will really use it, so it introduces a bit more variety. Also, to be fair, you don’t HAVE to use the same sets - it’s just that there will always be a #1 in each situation and it’s often the same from class to class. But for different fights and group comps that #1 set can change a lot, so there’s more variety than dummy testing would suggest on its own. Finally, there are SO many different sets you could swap in here and only lose 5-10k DPS. So don’t feel too obligated unless your raidlead says so.
omg a gift from the algorithm. that this dropped for me. nice
Totally!

It'll also depend on your supports, length of fight etc. But the sustain here is pretty good so you shouldn't be having issues. Feel free to join the Discord and DM me if it the issue persists.
Any chance you could show your Champion Points?
They’re all there in the CMX towards the end.
Might take the hit and run whorl and runecarver. Just makes life alot simpler.
Good luck.
How do u get around 36 magicka?
High Elf + Enchantments + Food + dummy buffs (Aggressive Horn) and a little bit from CPs.
Why is magDK considered better dps than stamDK i feel like stam with bow has more dps potential
@@jordannguyen661 Awesome! make sure to tag me (TheKaan) and I will have a look.
The skill boxes moving across your screen, what is that
That’s a graphic I made for these videos. Not an in game feature, I’m afraid.
what is that addon that has the red bar of the timings?
That’s the GCD bar: www.esoui.com/downloads/info2322-GlobalCooldownGCDBar.html
How come no engufling flames for the extra flame damage?
All this is explained in the video. Only one person needs to run it, and that’ll generally be the ZenKosh DK’s job.
@@NinjaPulls Cheers Ninja.
Would depths , runecarver and velothi work ?
Yes, but then you've got 2 Light sets and will struggle to reach the 125% crit cap.
Hey, is it still playable with high now?
High ping? Or do you mean something else?
Love this 😃😃
Thank you 😊 Glad you liked it!
Necromancer next please
That’s next on the list! 🤩
Need stam build pleaseee
why the heck are mag DK using dual wielding and two handers??
Flame moves fulfill the Dragon part. I love how these weapon options execute the Knight part.
Nice. Time to cook
Oh yes!
idk what i'm supposed to think without kaan telling me what to do
lol! 😝
“Like, Subscribe, Shaaaare”
Wait u can use 2h for a magicka?
Why no timestamps?
RUclips adds those automatically, so I don’t know.
Khan, im begging you, please please tell me what that armor is, i must know 😭
The outfit at the start is mostly Annihilarch’s Chosen, which comes from Deadlands portals I think.
@@NinjaPulls thanks mate !
What is name of the song during parse ?
It's 'Boom' by Coola Maya. Sorry for the late reply - you posted this question while I was in Amsterdam for ESO's 10th.
Never mentioned races?
Race doesn't matter - player execution is infinitely more important. Altmer/Dunmer/Khajiit are the best ones for Magicka, but the rest are only a few % behind at most. Hope that helps.
How can i get that sword?
The Greatsword at the beginning is the Valkyn Skoria style, so it’s a Crown Store thing (most of the coolest collectibles are).
Magicka sorcerer pleaseeeeeeee
Noted!
The fact that magicka builds barely touch the destro staff line pisses me off
You can make it work, but sustain is harder and damage is lower with double bar destro since you don't have as much stam costing skills.
64 points into mag?
Yes!
High elf??
Yeah this is a High Elf. Other races work are VERY close but that’s the #1 for optimised conditions. Dark Elf and Khajiit also work great.
Too many numbers, I got lost in the woods and a bear ate my sandwich.
Thanks Vez - I gotta keep those bears in business!
Ask your nearest Warden, was probably his.
