Additionally since the wheelbase grew only by 2cm you have now 18cm longer overhangs than in the old X2 which certainly don't improve the sporty and dynamic look. So the new X2 is massively larger without giving you more space in the rear nor better proportions in the sideview. That is a bit strange ...

Great video thomas, very professional and in depth. I was just wondering about your thoughts on this however - i notice that for BMWs new models, the digital drivers display has a huge black blank space above it, meaning the digital display screens height, is not the same as the infotainment screens height. Did that bother you at all? because it to me it seems like it would be something that would annoy me a lot as there too much blank space and the screens are not the same height. would do my ocd in haha
At first, I didn't like the design of new-generation BMW's. Now, I am starting to understand what they are doing and I love it. Going their own way, trying new things. We don't know the big picture they are going for. This generation design response may be similar to E65 as it first came out (that is ugly till this day). Tried something new, but only a facelift fixed it a bit. Don't think this generation will be this bad. Will look modern for a long time. Thomas, I love your reviews!
Thanks again for the great review. The non-M Sport versions can already be seen in the online configurator. En profil it looks quite decent but that rear looks awful with those taillights :(
Hello, great review. Do the manufacturers ditched back doors capacitive key-less locking feature? I mean that you could lock car by touching backdoor handle.
Where to start... thanks again Thomas & Autogefühl for giving us a first look at the new X2, and very happy to see you use a torch-phone light so we can see the dark interior parts. For the vehicle, well actually on first look it doesn't look too bad exterior design wise, as modern BMWs go, i often considered an X4 but it was too large for me for UK roads & general parking so this new X2 should appeal more - however despite it's larger size there's no more (maybe less?) rear interior passenger space which is a bit daft. Still maybe interested until i saw the interior... I recently had a loan U06 Active Tourer M-Sport for a week, so the same interior and info-tainment set-up and i *really* didn't like it! The seats were supportive and seemingly comfortable but after some time i did start to feel a bit of a numb-bum. The new M-Sport steering wheel was too chunky, not comfortable and even though it has real buttons on it they were clunky & finnicky to use unlike the previous generation. The main infotainment (iDrive 8) was frustrating and over complex to use along with the pure touchscreen interface was actually distracting and time consuming - just awful - and the volume jog should be volume _joke_ ! No, the interior looks and superficially feels premium but i got more of the feeling that really it seems _cheap_ . And if the U06's ride & handling is anything to go by then it'll feel initially sporty (i.e. not smooth-out the bumps) around town but then floaty at highway speeds. And this new M35i is 0.5secs slower than the previous F39 (which also had front-biased AWD & LSD), and i guess heavier. So no, this new version is not for me - there is still no new BMW that i like. Out of a choice between this X2 and an X4, if footprint-size not an issue then it'll be the X4 - RWD-biased, 6-cylinder, more interior space & quality materials AND rotary iDrive controller. Flame Red looks great, though - i had an F45 Active Tourer in Flamenco Red and it was lovely, so i'm glad to see another non-orange red that usually appear on BMW, though i'm also favourable to [non-frozen] Portimao Blue.
I love you man but calling this a "city SUV only" is ridiculous, I get 300+ km from my Zoe with 48 kWh usable, surely this longer more aerodinamic shape with much larger 65 kWh battery gets much more range than my Zoe and has decent charge speed, I think if you are the one driving 1000 km every day to other cities then you are in the minority and for most people this is just an all rounder, much more than just a city SUV.
How could this happen? I thought BMW had learned from the flop of the 6-series. Now they're making the same mistake, only smaller. Were they on drugs? What a smart, likeable car the old X2 was. The proportions were very well done. BMW has done a pretty good job with the design lately. But what is this now? It looks like a bad copy of earlier Chinese cars (now they do it quite well). Don't misunderstand, I like the brand and many of the models, even the stripped down 7 Series if you get it right and the new 5 Series which is now as long as the former short version of the 7 Series. But this thing is scary!
@@ifeanyiikemefuna3706 You misunderstand. I also think the 7 is good and the XM is kind of cool. The X1 is also coherent. But the X2 - just like the current 6 Series - is a failure. The rear end in particular is reminiscent of earlier cheap Korean imports.
when do you think it’s coming? my lease is up in 2025. but when I take my car for an oil change in november i’m going to ask about this car and early lease buyout.
Finally, the X2 landed in its correct position in terms of design. Now the X2, X4, X6 have a similar kind of design while the X1, X3, X5, and X7 have a similar design did I get it?🤔 I think so
I would always buy a car with an opening roof. Open windows in summer suck and driving with a/c all the time suck even more in summer. I want to have the open feeling. Never had leaking problems.
Where the volume buttons are on the steering wheel, they should make a shortcut so you can hold another button down (kind of like a Shift button on a keyboard) and use the volume up to control the heating controls.......simple! lol
While it's a bit boring that they effectively made it a smaller X4/X6 equivalent for the X1, I do understand why as I almost never see the current more hot hatch shaped X2s around anywhere, and there are barely any used car listings for them either.
Why are bmw so obsessed with making big cars? Every single new version has been longer than jts predecessor!! And they even removed their only small car that was so popular in city life, the i3. Pleas bring back smaller cars !
I like this new X2 although I think the rear end should have been similar to the X4. However, I found it ironic that this looked like the Mach E from this side.

Finally, the X2 landed in its correct position in terms of design. Now the X2, X4, X6 have a similar kind of design while the X1, X3, X5, and X7 have a similar design did I get it?🤔 I think so
Baby X6,looks great,cool Video🤙⭐️
Great car ! Front styling is gaudy !
Love your reviews, I have the 2023 M340i xDrive and I feel the X2 with that same engine would be what I would go for, otherwise I love the looks
You do realise this x2 is based on a front wheel drive platform…don’t expect the same great driving dynamics as your 3er.
Mazda 3 approves 😂
I would always buy a car with an opening roof. Open windows in summer suck and driving with a/c all the time suck even more in summer. I want to have the open feeling.
Never had leaking problems.
Looks great 👍
how much do you think it is?
Where the volume buttons are on the steering wheel, they should make a shortcut so you can hold another button down (kind of like a Shift button on a keyboard) and use the volume up to control the heating controls.......simple! lol
While it's a bit boring that they effectively made it a smaller X4/X6 equivalent for the X1, I do understand why as I almost never see the current more hot hatch shaped X2s around anywhere, and there are barely any used car listings for them either.
because they are old. Im still holding on to my 5YO X2. I hoped that we get a new hatch X2 and not this bs coupe thing.
so much nicer than the previous one.
Wonder when will F70 1-series be out?
Why are bmw so obsessed with making big cars? Every single new version has been longer than jts predecessor!! And they even removed their only small car that was so popular in city life, the i3. Pleas bring back smaller cars !
I like this new X2 although I think the rear end should have been similar to the X4. However, I found it ironic that this looked like the Mach E from this side.
