Well that was interesting, learned a couple more things. The new seal should work quite good, time will tell I suppose. Thanks Kev.

I would be very grateful if the author of this great video let me advertise (tell the origin of this oil seal) because the oil seal you installed actually passed through my hands during packaging😊

And also I would be gratefull if you could give me your e-mail adress, I would like to contact you for some information, because I am the maker of these oil seals.
Btw-put an oil on the nek of the crankshaft so the rubber part doesnt get damaged during first rotations of the crankshaft

2 years later, it will leak more than the rope seal. The quality of the rubber is very low. I've already done it few times, then I replaced the crankshaft so a standard 133,35x158,75x12,63 fpm seal can be used. It's necessary to machine the crankshaft and make a plate to join the engine block and the house of the seal

I fitted this modified rope seal kit to my M/F 35 at the same time as fitting a brand new Indian made Crankshaft. The crankshaft has a spiral oil groove machined where the original rope seal seated. On my crankshaft this spiral oil groove was very roughly turned leaving it razor sharp along both edges of the groove. I very carefully filed and smoothed the edges away before fitting the new seal. The engine ran leak free for the first 20 hours before it started to drip oil once again. Was it worth the trouble? Probably, providing that you are using the original Perkins made crankshaft but not if you are relying on an Indian made replacement. Mine had the big end journals finish ground with a taper of one and a quarter thou over a length of one and a quarter inches and the clutch mounting driving flange which spigoted into the clutch was undersize by a full twelve thou.

I’m sorry you had so much trouble with all these after market parts I’ve also in the past had the same problems
As for engine parts etc I’ve found Turkey to have the best quality. Thanks for the comment.

Ive just fitted this seal. It all went on well. Ive just taken the tractor out for a drive and its leaking again! Any ideas?
Will it sort its self out after some more time?
My only other thought is that the back of my sump could be leaking but the oil is coming out quite quickly and its only after the tractors been running for about 30 minutes

Hi Tom thank you for your message sorry to hear the seal hasn't worked the only thing I think it could be is the end of the crankshaft is worn or the seal has a tear in it.
Also if you check out one of my newest videos im working on a Dexta engine which is the same as a Massey I point out a small core plug about the size of a thumb nail which is the back of the oil gallery ive had those leak before thinking it was the rear main seal.
Good luck with it please keep me updated to how you get on.
      All the best
      kev.
