I have ONE dress I wear to all the funerals and weddings and no one seems to realize I am wearing the same dress. If they do, I don't think they care. Great video. I like that you are complimenting your clothing.
I think style is more important than fashion. Knowing who you are and dressing for yourself first is always more stylish than what’s “fashionable” to others. I’m still figuring this out for myself and am learning that I don’t need to own everything I love. Artwork is a great example. Thanks for sharing! ❤
My daughter is a fashion designer in NYC and I get so tired of people minimizing what she does and the amount of smarts and hard work it has taken her to get where she is. Thanks you for recognizing that it is a form of art and that the reason it is minimized is because of sexism. These are all great tips. Thanks again for another terrific video.
I’m going to brunch later and I was wondering what to wear. After your video, I picked out my favorite jeans and a sweater that I’ve had for a long time but the color suits me well. Thanks for the help!
Our mother was a tailor so we were taught to always take pride in our appearance. Over time I learned to purchase classic quality pieces for my minimalist wardrobe. I’m also creative so I do like unique pieces and sometimes combine styles and patterns. I have always been bold enough to wear clothing I love, what compliments me and makes me feel good. If I don’t feel all of these things I won’t buy it because I won’t ever wear it. I’m often complimented and told by people that they like my style but aren’t imaginative enough to combine their outfits the way that I do. I just encourage them to be authentic in their approach to fashion.
Traveling got me to get my wardrobe in order. I use a capsule wardrobe with lightweight and comfortable pieces that mix and match with each other. It helps make packing for long trips carry on only a breeze while at the same time having pieces that are easy to care for and comfortable while still working in many different situations. Blacks grey and whites work well and mixing textures and materials allows for comfort in varying temperatures and situations from super casual to a bit more formal.
I like the artwork analogy. Though it kind of sets me back a little because I like to sew. And seeing as a form of art would encourage me to keep sewing just for creativity’s sake when I don’t really need any more clothes. I am trying to find a balance between hobby/art/consumerism. It’s so true that the novelty factor can make us biased towards new clothes! Overall, working on contentment and gratitude is key for me.
I recently started digitizing my wardrobe. I'm definitely not yet using the app for its full potential, and there's a lot of features missing that I would like, but I like being able to search for keywords when I get the urge to recreate outfits, and the challenge to do so with my own clothes gives me extra motivation. I also downloaded Pinterest for the first time in my life for the sole purpose of looking at outfit inspiration for pieces of clothing that I own but have difficulty styling, or am in a style rut and looking for alternative styling options. Still working on "I don't have to own it just because it's beautiful" haha.
I am n this struggle bus even though I have cut my wardrobe in half in the last few years. I just love clothes. But your tips are very helpful. Thank you! Always enjoy your videos
I've never been a fashion maven, but I have a huge problem with pottery. Your advice #1 can be applied to any of us and any collection. I'll buy a piece of pottery only to bring it home and pack it in a box! Thank you.
I needed this video! I have too many clothes and trying to a low buy this year and a mass declutter.

Organized closet for fast decluttering sessions. I have closet compartments, all outerwear on the left side, separated by a hanging tote, in the middle: the casual daily items which takes up the most space. This is decluttered seasonally items not worn. The right side has afew dressier items rarely worn. I am a retiree and rarely dress up. Unwanted items go to group homes in my area.
The latest fashion of boxy and big blazers is so unflattering on me, I look like I stole my grandpa’s clothes. So latest stuff is easy for me to say no. But I also realize I cant set foot in stores with more tailored and proper fitting clothes, otherwise I will find something that looks great on me and until I tried it on, didnt know I needed it. I like your comparison to an art museum. I also need to just work on making my current clothes work for me, I have stuff that looks nice. What am I going for…perfect?

I can appreciate an item without wanting to own it. What a great feeling.

I’ve been using the Stylebook app for 13 years so my whole closet is on it. I always forget what clothes I own but can easily see it in the app
