I’m just seeing this 2 years later, and I love that he did this! I have a daughter who was in a great elementary school orchestra, that were sweeping the music competitions, leaving high school freshman embarrassed. She hasn't felt as challenged, or sufficient growth even in her honors orchestra. I’m looking for lessons or just something to keep her loving her viola. So I really appreciate TIP doing something like this, and I hope the children stay encouraged. A true artist tries new things, as well as inspires the generations of tomorrow. I respect his artistry and him as an MC. Undoubtedly his music legacy is solid.
In my opinion Tip did this for those kids and he no doubt gave them an experience of a lifetime. He could have easily gotten experienced musicians and a veteran MD but he didn't. I think that's one of the reasons he censored his performance. Imagine 10 years from now one of those kids blows up to become a sought after musician and this was part of their journey but because his performance didn't live up to your standard, that's all you see this as. Salute to Tip for giving these kids a chance.
He was trying to make it PG for the kids. He was censensoring his lyrics. No stumbling. T.I. is too much of a wordsmith. Looks like at the last minute he decided to make it clean.
This was one of the shortest but very entertaining and interactive tiny desk concerts. The audience filled in for Rhianna which was awesome. I would to see Raheem DeVaugn, Omar Lye Fook, A Tribe Called Quest and A tribute to J Dilla
THE MAN DID NOT INVITE HIMSELF TO NPR.. The production and talent agents did. Now with that being said, we ALL know Tip loves the kids. So why be mad because be he censored his music? His band was comprised of kids and he was man enough to respect them. Kuddos to you Tip!
Ummmm alot of rappers came and censored themselves...tpain and gucci changed a few words....not really for the kids smh...its being professional....not everyone at npr listens to the same type of music
Maaaan, this my first time seeing this. This was really big for these students. Atlanta Music Project did that. Great job T.I. for giving these students that opportunity. I love it!
Crazy as I look at the comments. T. I. Has always been a business and professional man that knows how to conduct himself. And is for the kids. He is the King. Love him.
I forgot he got so much cuss words in his songs 😂😂😂💀 but thts why he was pausing cause of the cuss words y’all remember he’s the black human dictionary 😂‼️
These kids are SUPER TALENTED!! I love seeing the youth doing something constructive with themselves..”Only thing between you and your dream is your effort” .. Shoutout to T.I
A real ATL King showed up with the young musicians and blessed NPR. Always prepared and always telling a story. Censored his own lyrics. So much LOVE 🔥💯❤️
Love T. I. and the kids DOIN IT!! So important to invest in your babies talents so they can hone in on their craft and passion... and not become victims of their environment!! YASSS
I think TI did an amazing job of breaking the lyric down without distroying the songs. TRAP 101 People and there is no prerequisites. If TI did his songs on the regular BPM this show would be over in 4min haha
They got T.I.P. on here!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Let's get it!!! Hearing these live is amazing!!! Take me back to the high school band days during the game when the band would turn-up and play the bangers!!! The band killed it 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Not going to lie, mane I had chills on rubber band man, 9 in my right, 45 in my other hand. During that time I lived by that and that cd, think I bought 3 albums because I was bumping them so hard, salute.
I love T.I. storytelling approach to Tiny Desk performances. Him giving an opportunity to youth musicians (Atlanta Music Project) is also intentionally significant. For these 2 things, it is in the top ten of Tiny Desk performances. And, of course, respect the A!!!
Being able to refresh and revitalize artists that deserve recognition is what NPR does best. Growing up T.I. and being able to hear it in this new context is incredibly interesting and satisfying.
You are not defined by the environment you living in unless you allow yourself to, You are able to do anything in the world that you want, Let Nobody deceive you that there something you can't accomplish, The only difference between you and your dreams is your effort.
TI you are the real deal, and your heart shines through in your words, your music and your actions. All the best your way to you and your Family {{{hugs}}}.
It's so important to support our youths and their programs! So much been cut from public schools budget, so props to Tip for including the youth and expanding their platforms and experiences!💯💪🏿
TI is a legend, who literally changed the face of hip-hop in my era. He wasnt properly prepared for this at all, but it's still awesome and it's about supporting his community.
T.I will forever hold a place in my heart and whenever I hear his old shit it just puts me right back into my younger days with friends who aren’t around anymore to share it with and brings me back to the simple times when being kid was just being a kid. Not a worry in the world then. Miss those days with my friends. Thanks for the memories T.I

He's done more for those kids than anyone else commenting negatively.
He got more kids than anyone 😂😂😋🤣
That’s real!!
So glad he does it publicly. The way he thought when they aired his business on VH1, very big insight.

It's heartwarming what TI did for the kids. he has my respect
When I hear actual musical instruments being used in Rubber Band Man, I instantly hit the Like button!
It was giving me HBCU band vibes.

He was trying to make it PG for the kids. He was censensoring his lyrics. No stumbling. T.I. is too much of a wordsmith. Looks like at the last minute he decided to make it clean.
ohhhhhh , makes sense . b/c initially I was confused at how a seasoned performer like himself could be stumbling that much
This was one of the shortest but very entertaining and interactive tiny desk concerts. The audience filled in for Rhianna which was awesome. I would to see Raheem DeVaugn, Omar Lye Fook, A Tribe Called Quest and A tribute to J Dilla
Anya Leavy i was thinking the same thing

wish it was longer..T.I. hands down is one of the greats
I like how tip got the young kids to play. Played real nice.
Honestly, the fact that this man could censor his lyrics on the fly speaks volumes. Some rappers wouldn't have any lyrics at all if they did that lol
Hello!
I forgot he got so much cuss words in his songs 😂😂😂💀 but thts why he was pausing cause of the cuss words y’all remember he’s the black human dictionary 😂‼️
