the only issue with NPR is: it helps you discover amazing artists, you dig their recordings here and there ad you realize no studio recording is as passionate and magic as these live sets.
Not anything on H.E.R., but i feel like the concerts are so awesome because the energy is always so high, and if they were longer, it wouldn't always be so.

Look, I know that H.E.R. and the band are amazing. But let's talk about the sound engineering. The sound is absolutely amazing !!! The vocal and the instruments are organically mixed, very natural, I'd say better than the studio version.
I've watched this literally thousands of times and barely noticed how she commands that stage and works it leading the band. She's a prodigy. She's talent.
she is the future and the savior for real music. I seen HER in concert and the girl is amazing. only 21 and her writing capabilities will knock you off your feet. I wish the best for her career, truly! I am such a big fan!!!! day one
I listen to a lot of Janelle Monae, India Arie, Erykah Badu etc... surprised the algorithm hasn't offered me H.E.R. The musicians are earning their place in this band, the production, sound mixing. All of it is fantastic!
I wish you could hear the brush sticks on the hi hat better! Also sad that his snare trigger doesn't activate multiple times during the set. Regardless, neither caused any hiccups during the set and his playing was perfect. Amazed by all of it still.

Together with the band he fits in completely. I am so exited about this consert! Greetings from a 76 old man from Sweden.

Wow. H.E.R is a smart woman who has surrounded herself with truly amazing musicians. Very impressive band. I was surprised when she started doing the cool George Bensioning -- singing with her guitar soloing -- very cool.
I have to circle back around to this in 2023. I can really hear Stevie Wonder's influence when she goes into that vamp on focus. Especially from the piano players chords. Then her is improvising over that with India Arie vibes. I just love this because she's not just copying people. This is really brilliant musicianship from her and the band members. I'd love to sit in with them. They are having so much fun with it. 🥰
My son was just like this, then I got him the big boy (toddler) car seat and the crying stopped. He just wanted to see what was going on. His view was obstructed in that infant carrier.

@@watchrami I was looking for this comment, I thought I was the only one who felt this way.. And I'm french so I thought maybe I didn't get it all. Well, maybe I go too far in the interpretation (cause I watched it too many times lol). this has to be the best npr of 2018. Everything about her screams legend in the making. Cant wait to see what she does in 2019. Looking forward to typing listening to this in 2050.
Ive commented like 17 times on this but lets give shout out to the sound people who make these sound really real and good. There's a reason why millions of people come back to watch real performances like this here and you make it accessible and high-quality. Thanks for that. Merry Christmas to the team.
11:35 - This part right here, man... The clean presentation of everyone in this amazing talented band, followed by the smoothest transition to introducing H.E.R. and then Focus comes on, just PURE tenderness. I love this song so much, first time I heard it here gave me chills. Always coming back to this!
I legit listen to / sing this song every single day, multiple times a day...can't stop, such a magical and raw, version of this track during this tiny desk session...so layered with emotions and feels and depth ahhh I'm in love
from roughly 9:52 to 10:10 and again from 11:00 to 11:30 I got BIG goosebumps I felt like I had heard Lauryn Hill's voice.... unbelievable. Got to give it up th H.E.R. and realize for those that claim there isn't real music anymore we are staring incredible artists in the face who are influenced by and equally as talented as the incredible artists that preceded them. What a time to be alive
H.E.R., the whole experience is like a gorgeous hot bath for all parts; body, mind, and heart. The Piano keys are the bubbles, sublime, the drummer smoooooth, the synchronicity and grooves are so tight, flawless, and fresh; it's all AMAZING. the voices, back and front; exquisite. And, it doesn't all sound the same or like the "usual" that is so proliferate.....awesome. This is different in the best way!!
I still come back to THIS Tiny Desk experience in 2022. HER really slayed this. I just love her entire sound and intentionality with vocals and her band. 💓 Thank you, NPR for bringing great musicians to your platform.💗
Everyone should just record their damn albums at NPR. The sound engineering is always so perfect. On another note I'm about to go sit in a corner and repent because I was cussing all throughout this performance.
Been feeling down recently, 2 & a half months of lockdown, constant sirens, uncertainty about the future, overwhelming sadness, death & loss. Then I find a Tiny Desk Concert Playlist I wasn't even looking for. It's all better now.
As an artist H.E.R. has voice harmony so delicate and mature far be her years- and it so pleasant to hear someone so talented ,beautiful and passionate about H.E.R. Craft having so much fun with it
HER is one of those musicians you only get once per generation. Truly in a lane all of her own. So blessed to be alive and to hear such beautiful music.
That jazz chord progression at the end of focus should just be looped and capped with a whole new set of lyrics. I can go all day on it. My hats off to the pianist. His playing is tight and his choices between the chords are on the money. Give that guy a raise!
the only issue with NPR is: it helps you discover amazing artists, you dig their recordings here and there ad you realize no studio recording is as passionate and magic as these live sets.
yeah i've been underwhelmed about a couple of times. something about these sessions that bring out the best in artists.
Alfie my other issue is since I’m not an employee I can’t go to any of their concerts 😓

Guy in Audience: *"Please!"*
Jiraiya Sannin I was the 420th like....your welcome
Damn she's the best R&B singer in the game right now
Trevon Wesley Jasmine Sullivan blows her out the water, she has much more range and control of her vocals.
She the king of r&b😂😂😂
Don't let jacquees see this lmao
@@ben23232 Daniel Caesar is the King !!!!!!!

H.E.R. albums are one of few that you click play on track one and never hit skip.....
Ive commented like 17 times on this but lets give shout out to the sound people who make these sound really real and good.
There's a reason why millions of people come back to watch real performances like this here and you make it accessible and high-quality.
Thanks for that.
Merry Christmas to the team.

Amen brotha!!!!!!
Alex bruh! The sound engineers are amazing!

I’m 66 and it’s so great that all these amazing artists are springing up ! H.E.R. being a case in point . Thank you tiny desh

11:35 - This part right here, man... The clean presentation of everyone in this amazing talented band, followed by the smoothest transition to introducing H.E.R. and then Focus comes on, just PURE tenderness.
I love this song so much, first time I heard it here gave me chills. Always coming back to this!
Who keeps disliking this piece of heaven. I swear you need prayer if you can't feel this!
YOUR GOING TO WIN EVERY GRAMMY YOU WERE NOMINATED FOR 💯💯
Faith Jones she deserves so much!!!

One of the best Tiny Desk Concert EVER!!!!!!! I discovered H.E.R. thanks to this format. Love it, love her, love the band!!! A diamond!!!
"Hard Place" gives me chills every time
EVERY! TIME!
Chills and tears
I legit listen to / sing this song every single day, multiple times a day...can't stop, such a magical and raw, version of this track during this tiny desk session...so layered with emotions and feels and depth ahhh I'm in love
2 years later, I stell keep going back to this Tiny Desk set. Definitely my favorite.
Omds same
I constantly switch between this and Snoh Allegra's tiny desk. They are both outstanding women.
Anderson Paak and Adele's, too. They're all so incredibly talented.
The HARMONY and TRANSITIONAL sound in Focus is everything man!
from roughly 9:52 to 10:10 and again from 11:00 to 11:30 I got BIG goosebumps I felt like I had heard Lauryn Hill's voice.... unbelievable. Got to give it up th H.E.R. and realize for those that claim there isn't real music anymore we are staring incredible artists in the face who are influenced by and equally as talented as the incredible artists that preceded them. What a time to be alive
Once in a generation type of artist. This girl is on the road the legendary status.....MY GAWDDD!!!
i can’t get over how amazing of a musician everyone here is
Im a 62 year old whose 31 year old daughter introduced her to HER!! I love this artist!! She is in a class by herself. Love her music 😍.
That ‘Feel a way’ song is magical, H.E.R is a rockstar 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This woman is only 21 and such an amazing artist! I so appreciate her, Tiny Desk and Daniel Caesar for the pop up of H.E.R. on his Tiny Desk segment.
Gabby Flying Chef soaking in lavender beads with a scented candle and a glass of 🍷. Damn, I’m going to take a bath.
Superb analogy !😉
@@Tamisha7 Lol...I feel ya!😂
Wow Well Said
What a poetic review! It is beautiful.
I actually prefer deeper voices like hers, sooo calming.
right !!
Yep. Like Lauryn Hill, Oleta Adams, Toni Braxton, India.Arie.
U mean HERs
Yes I prefer that deeper singing voice from women singers for sure.
However, a guy who sings falsetto just hits different lol
@@sleepywillow6641 definitely
I still come back to THIS Tiny Desk experience in 2022. HER really slayed this. I just love her entire sound and intentionality with vocals and her band. 💓 Thank you, NPR for bringing great musicians to your platform.💗
She’s one of the best her concerts are amazing she’s a true musician very rare
they are ON a VIBE. damn whole band in sync. such talent
Everyone should just record their damn albums at NPR. The sound engineering is always so perfect. On another note I'm about to go sit in a corner and repent because I was cussing all throughout this performance.
Definitely! I swear I know the tiny desk versions better than the studio versions! 😂
Are we the same person lol . That was me too 😂
😂😂😂
LMAOOO I FELT THIS

I look at it very freaking day!!! Ha! Blessings
Just haters
Been feeling down recently, 2 & a half months of lockdown, constant sirens, uncertainty about the future, overwhelming sadness, death & loss. Then I find a Tiny Desk Concert Playlist I wasn't even looking for.
It's all better now.
I can relate🙏🏾
Well I hope you feel better!!
Muzakman37 - Hey 👋🏽 - hope you are hanging in there... Focus starts around 13 minutes in... 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Things will get better with time. God Bless you all.
Hang in there!!! Let music edify your soul ♥
With all the recent debates... H.E.R. is actually this generation’s King of R&B!
better!
Case closed
QUEEN😎😎
So true!
Daniel ceaser is king shes queen
As an artist H.E.R. has voice harmony so delicate and mature far be her years- and it so pleasant to hear someone so talented ,beautiful and passionate about H.E.R. Craft having so much fun with it
HER is one of those musicians you only get once per generation. Truly in a lane all of her own. So blessed to be alive and to hear such beautiful music.
Yessss❤️❤️
Still come back to this tiny desk even though I listen to her albums!!
That jazz chord progression at the end of focus should just be looped and capped with a whole new set of lyrics. I can go all day on it. My hats off to the pianist. His playing is tight and his choices between the chords are on the money. Give that guy a raise!
