I can’t say I’m his biggest fan or know his best work, but I’ve been aware of t pain as a legit artist since tiny desk and have someone kept tabs since…I honest to god don’t think he will ever top this. I mean that with all respect the world, but this must be his magnum opus.

As someone deep into soul music (widely understood) history, I'm past the discussion of *whether* he can sing and found myself asking, "Who is he comparable to in terms of vocal range and texture, dexterity across genres, and pure and applied soul?" I started putting him in the conversation with a Frankie Beverly, or (in terms of crooning) Ron Isley. But I could think of no one except Prince who is able to sound this powerful, rich, poignant, and exquisite across SO MANY genres. Obviously, T-Pain doesn't sound like Prince and isn't the interpretive genius Prince is. But I can tell you, from start to finish, I enjoyed this T-Pain concert as immensely as ANY great artist (Marvin Gaye, Chaka Khan, Bon Jovi, Aretha Franklin, and yes, Prince) I've ever listened to.

I'm mostly into the newer more progressive sounding stuff, but have been playing guitar and listening to all sorts of metal for most of my life.
The majority of T-Pain's music I've heard has been autotuned radio stuff. I was surprised how well his real voice worked for the War Pigs cover. He fucking killed it. Ozzy Osbourne recently tweeted that T-Pain's cover is the best War Pigs cover he's ever heard.

Years ago I used to rag on T-Pain. I've completely changed my opinion on him over the years. Homie a true artist with some impeccable taste. The slight but faithful musical compositions on these covers is a testament to that. The way the band has captured the soul of these covers but also has managed to add so much more thoughtfully to them is pretty impressive. Homies know their music.

Why is my face leaking???? I think im melting. Ive seen this a dozen times now and it still rivals any live show ever done ever. Period. T-Pain, you breathed life into this music, and you are a gem that a thousand years from now should be firmly cemented into the textbooks of talent. Congrats to you and your flawless band. The way your lead guitarist can also nail every genre without a break is just awe-inspiring. Will never not share, or allow dirt throwed on y'alls names. Not in my house.
As a black person that listens to a lot of rock, I really wish more contemporary black artists would cover rock. Some of the greatest songs of all time transcended spaces like that. Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix tossing records back and forth between each other gave us two incredible renditions of “All Along The Watchtower”. And let’s not forget: Michael Jackson and Prince. A ton of great music to cover that brings a whole new sound and feel. A ton of great new music we could make if we saw contemporary black artists transcend their core genre(s) to come find out they have more range than they actually do through experimentation.

Rock doesn't happen without Black artists. Whether it be the blues greats of Robert Johnson or Sister Rosetta Tharpe, to some of the genre's first greats like Chuck Berry or Little Richard, the heart and skeleton of the genre are deeply rooted in Black American cultural input.

It would hopefully give black artists more exposure and respect for their talents as well. Many, like T-Pain, are underated vocalists and musicians.
By far one of the most amazing “cover” concerts of all time. Every musician was amazing and all to compliment T Pains perfect pitch. They made each song their own without doing any of them a disservice. Bravo!

A-Maz-ING!!!! T-Pin just got a a new 70-year-old black grandma fan (I'm sure that's his desired demographic...lol). It was an eclectic set that pulled us along smoothly and enthusiastically and then....War Dogs at 49. OMG!!! Had me cranking it up full blast and rocking so my husband was alarmed...lol
I'm a long time Black Sabbath fan and T Pain freakin murdered that cover. Sooo good. Ozzy Osbourne himself loved it.
