Nah man, you should watch his interviews about Autotune... He is helluva smart man and knows that Autotune is a gimmick but made it work to his advantage and made him millions.
This is arguably the one that put Tiny Desk on the map. I come back and watch this one often to pay respect. Whenever I mention Tiny Desk to a friend who's never heard of it, this is where I start.
On the show, This is Pop on Netflix he talked about his performance. He said he felt really vulnerable and felt like he was doing a bad job in this performance. That's why he kept looking down and not really looking at the crowd or cameras.
He should definitely do an unplugged album of his hits with live instruments. Snares, bass-lines, and background vocals would have taken these performances over the top.
He gives the most amazing speeches. Between this, BET awards, and the Sun Rose show, he’s a very inspirational person! He deserves all his roses and then some!
So sad to see people were sleeping on his talent up until this NPR. People didnt understand he was only using auto-tune for aesthetic. I saw him live when he debuted "I'm Sprung" and was blown away. Give this man his flowers 💐💐👏🏾👏🏾!
Dudes completely fine being on stage doing his rap thing with autotune.... and he's so nervous infront of maybe 20 people without autotune. Dude is crazy humble.
I’d like to see T Pain come out with a strictly ballads to show off his real voice, he could even market it as an alter ego so he doesn’t lose what he’s known for. Maybe this is T pleasure hahah
Welcome for all the people seeing this after you heard about usher being mad at tpain for revolutionizing R&B because his career and time in the spotlight was slowly dying.
You can see that he is insecure about his talent and it's really sad because usher was so wrong with his statement and t pain has so much talent and he just elevated music industry with his style
Had this been how these songs were originally released, I would have been a huge fan. His voice is superb. I would love him to record new tracks with no effects.
Saw T-Pain do a small college show at my buddys very small private college in Florida a few years ago. Maybe 300 people there and he put on a show like he was doing the Super Bowl halftime show, energy was on 1000% from start to finish and the whole crowd had know choice but to match his charisma, one of the best live performances I've every seen in my life.
saw him with Rick Ross at University of Delaware n his set was terrible. he played a few hooks from famous songs. the one song had lil Wayne on it n he just stood there during the lil Wayne part it was funny af. this was a min ago like 2009/10
This is literally one of those tiny desk concerts that you just keep coming back to, and try to share with your friends. And listen to it about 20 times a week, because it's that subtle, sit by the fire, sip that tea, nod ya head, tiny desk FIRE!!!! thumbs up if you agree and add to the vibe you feel with this.
I've never heard a man make "money in the bank" sound so tragic. Whenever you perform party songs as soulful sad songs, the results are just always so good.
@@JMSmithMusic I had a look on his Spotify and can’t seem to find any evidence of it. I only read that he had done it in RUclips comments, couldn’t tell you the name of it I’m afraid
Here, after hearing what Usher told him many year ago. Its infuriating because Tpain did so much for the music space . Many of his tracks just take me to a good place. I guess the moral here is that an artist should just create, no matter, create.
@@oaktowndimond668 I don't think that was my point. Kanye did it for a stylistic choice as well. I wasn't a Kanye fan much when I was younger but he does make good music. I always knew TPain could sing based on the fact I didnt see other rappers doing so. Some people are talented in more than one area and some aren't.
@@BleedingLiar17 true, but for T Pain, he was using auto-tune purely as a stylistic choice. kanye most likely saw the effect as a way to "sing" without the capability to actually do so. but as T Pain said in the past, auto-tune is not magical sorcery, you still have to be able to sing and know how to manipulate it. that's probably why kanye had T Pain partially produce 808s. kanye needed an actual singer to show him the capabilities and also the limits of the software. but yeah, i'd say Kanye is definitely the superior word smith and instrumentalist of the two.
I'm ashamed to say this.. but I did not know T-Pain could freaking SANG like this.. this was amazing and I'm literally blown away. And he seems so funny. Grew up as a kid listening to his music and the infamous auto-tune, but this was so refreshing and the renditions were so freaking nice.
Honestly, me too… I also grew up listening to his music and did not know how his voice was without auto tune. I can’t help but ask myself why on earth he used auto tune in the first place, he obviously doesn’t need it! So talented ❤

Wow, yeah you're right. I never thought of it like this.
Totally agree! Although I wish now he made an album like this!
Nicely said I completely agree
I feel like the success of this video was a turning point for T-Pain. He gained the confidence he needed to be free of the negativity he was subjected to due to his use of auto-tune
Alot of people don't understand that to use auto tune correctly...you gotta be able to actually sing haha
I’m sure he didn’t give a fuck about the negativity lol he made auto tune acceptable for the new generation and got rich while doing it
He’s been singing without auto tune for years now
Nah man, you should watch his interviews about Autotune... He is helluva smart man and knows that Autotune is a gimmick but made it work to his advantage and made him millions.
NPR always changing lives. Just hearing some of the sets on this channel has changed mine.
It is now 2024 and I’m back here. His Tiny Desk Concert was my first TDC… And I’ve been hooked since! Thank you TPain
“T-pain didn’t need auto tune, the auto tune needed T-pain”

This is arguably the one that put Tiny Desk on the map. I come back and watch this one often to pay respect. Whenever I mention Tiny Desk to a friend who's never heard of it, this is where I start.
Same! Next up on my list would be Mac Miller’s
Still listening in 2022
This one and Mac Miller. So good. Much love
One of my fav tiny desks ever!
Same, Macs is up there too.
Let's just take in that the keyboardist is playing the piano and the base part effortlessly. He went off in "Up Down"
He is amazing!
I would buy the F*** out of his acoustic album!
Fuck yea
He Should make "Epiphany" an acoustic album
Fr
I think he put out a non autotune album
Hahaha!!!! Yesss
I want a T-pain album like this
Only T pain could turn a twerk song into an angelic masterpiece

From the 500 th like. Ur speaking facts
lol u crazy hahahaha
He sure can!
i read that as allergic
I thought this was newish. 9 years? How? This sounds fresh. Almost a decade old, I’m flabbergasted
Living proof that T-Pain only used autotune as an aesthetic choice rather than to cover for his singing ability.
1mil %
yeah he said so in an interview on NPR later. That he wanted to stand out otherwise he'd just be another singer
He’s not the only one either but he was absolutely the first. Him and Cher put autotune on the map
I think you can only use autotune like he did because you know how to sing.
On the show, This is Pop on Netflix he talked about his performance. He said he felt really vulnerable and felt like he was doing a bad job in this performance. That's why he kept looking down and not really looking at the crowd or cameras.
Oh T pain an artist artist
Another Millennials Podcast Clearly, you didn’t listen to much T-pain
@@zontrayharris so. Tell me which original T-Pain hit is 'artistic'
Comment made me laugh
Ya, for REAL REAL
Another Millennials Podcast he singing singing 🎤
Pain needs to do a "stripped down" album. Just him and that keyboardist. I'd buy the shit out of it.

Amen.
Back when Tiny Desk was bare bones. Now they have nine-piece bands and eight backup singers. Love you, T-Pain. ❤❤❤
I'm glad I'm not the only one.
It was for real tiny. ❤
Like it best when Tiny Desk artists keep it simple!
He should definitely do an unplugged album of his hits with live instruments. Snares, bass-lines, and background vocals would have taken these performances over the top.
Agreed

THIS COMMENT! It makes this one much more real/relatable.
I was the 666th thumbs up for this comment!
He gives the most amazing speeches. Between this, BET awards, and the Sun Rose show, he’s a very inspirational person! He deserves all his roses and then some!
I’m stunned by his voice. He made Buy U A Drank so heartbreaking...
The dude on piano is absolutely incredible. What a great show
So sad to see people were sleeping on his talent up until this NPR. People didnt understand he was only using auto-tune for aesthetic. I saw him live when he debuted "I'm Sprung" and was blown away. Give this man his flowers 💐💐👏🏾👏🏾!
Yup
He's the truth kids will never know what he did
and Usher sent him into depression over the autotune thing
Yeah, the auto tune was just a tool to make a new sound. Other people then used it to "fix" their voices so everyone assumed he was doing the same.
Amazing.
He really feels like a lot of us don’t like him and I will never understand. Sir is too humble like we love tf out of you.
Dudes completely fine being on stage doing his rap thing with autotune.... and he's so nervous infront of maybe 20 people without autotune. Dude is crazy humble.
Intimate settings can be more overwhelming. You see all those faces.
Theres definitely at least 100 people watching him right now on the set, he talks about it in "this is pop"
What an amazing voice!
T Paine should sing like this more
Also I love ur channel❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
+whatever bruh what happened to andrea?
The one thing Jenny from the Block doesn't have; a voice....
Lmao what're u doing here
WOW....didn’t expect that🤜
I’d like to see T Pain come out with a strictly ballads to show off his real voice, he could even market it as an alter ego so he doesn’t lose what he’s known for. Maybe this is T pleasure hahah
Thats good
well he already has the sexy (though rough lol) alter ego Teddy Penderasdoun... so youre not too far off
Underrated comment
P Tain
He did, he sang stay with be by Sam smith on the masked singer
My man killed it on them
Keyes my goodness. TPain one of the most underrated artist of this generation.
Pain is hella talented , just waiting for his come back . And yes I’m still commenting in 2020 , will probably do the same 10 years later
Right with you👏🏾😌 he is a beast!
And ayeeeee 2020 we here✊🏾😂
This joint fire to be honest.
He's on the way back... "T-Pain feat. Chris Brown - Wake Up Dead" dropped last month
Hz back tho, get some singles out
When he hopped on jerry sprunger with Tory I was excited thinking this is the comeback lol

Have you seen his live concert at The Sun Rose? It's so good 😭
A 3 AND a 4!!!
The part 2 needs him
Welcome for all the people seeing this after you heard about usher being mad at tpain for revolutionizing R&B because his career and time in the spotlight was slowly dying.
You can see that he is insecure about his talent and it's really sad because usher was so wrong with his statement and t pain has so much talent and he just elevated music industry with his style
Had this been how these songs were originally released, I would have been a huge fan. His voice is superb. I would love him to record new tracks with no effects.
Had to hear this classic again
❤😭😭
Yeah Word
So great how after 12 years of tiny desk concerts this is one of the most memorable.
The like if you don't know about this it's because your new to the platform lol
i honestly believe this is one of the best & most genuine performances captured on film for the whole decade
It’s 2023 and I still come back to listen to this 😭❤
Saw T-Pain do a small college show at my buddys very small private college in Florida a few years ago. Maybe 300 people there and he put on a show like he was doing the Super Bowl halftime show, energy was on 1000% from start to finish and the whole crowd had know choice but to match his charisma, one of the best live performances I've every seen in my life.
That would be cool! I had a similar experience with B.O.B. at my tiny college in Ohio. He crowd surfed on all 200 of us lol
saw him with Rick Ross at University of Delaware n his set was terrible. he played a few hooks from famous songs. the one song had lil Wayne on it n he just stood there during the lil Wayne part it was funny af. this was a min ago like 2009/10
The fact that these guys make what they`re doing look so simple betrays the fact that they`re both freakin geniuses.
word.
So true
This is literally one of those tiny desk concerts that you just keep coming back to, and try to share with your friends. And listen to it about 20 times a week, because it's that subtle, sit by the fire, sip that tea, nod ya head, tiny desk FIRE!!!! thumbs up if you agree and add to the vibe you feel with this.
LITERALLY!!!
Yaaassssss! I'm just discovering this one and I'm hooked! Where have I been all this time?
I've never heard a man make "money in the bank" sound so tragic. Whenever you perform party songs as soulful sad songs, the results are just always so good.
T-Pain did his thang! He could do a whole album just like this.
I'd buy it!
Apparently he did and it wasn’t very well received
@@NickShillitoMusic I would love to hear that! Searching for it now. If you have the name of the project, please share.
@@JMSmithMusic I had a look on his Spotify and can’t seem to find any evidence of it. I only read that he had done it in RUclips comments, couldn’t tell you the name of it I’m afraid
It was like his first ever album. Wasn't well received at all. He tried the no autotune approach first.
Toro is RAW on the keys. This was great, I loved it.
Jamal Fairbanks man! toro is ridiculous!!! loved it
Where can I find Toro's music?
Those two really compliment each other. Toro is a true talent as well...
Toro is a beast! if someone finds his music please share
Holy shit yes! RolorinhoHD
Here, after hearing what Usher told him many year ago. Its infuriating because Tpain did so much for the music space . Many of his tracks just take me to a good place. I guess the moral here is that an artist should just create, no matter, create.
@@stalemarshmallow9466 same i was shocked people hated it so much over in the west
@@BleedingLiar17 true, and kanye can not sing... He actually needs auto tune for 808s and heartbreaks songs.
@@oaktowndimond668 agreed
Insane voice. How many can hold their own live? So impressed. Such an RnB rich voice.
@@anaclaracarvalho3343 Right?! Thank you so much for your reply! I literally feel the exact same way! It’s nice to know I wasn’t the only one surprised!
Exact same sentiment! I stumbled across this after watching Tank's recent TD and was blown away by this. Like T pain can sannnggg! How did I not know this 😫...sooo good 🙌🏾🙌🏾
