I had a ferritin reading of 1265 and reduced it to 320 over a 12 month period using EDTA iron chelation therapy. I quite like 20th century treatment over the superstitious quackery that is phlebotomy.
@@trofrano Have you seen the price of this? I gave blood last night, in a new ability to donate blood again (long time off because of BSE). I felt great all day.
@@trofrano I had ONE venasection. The clown with the needle shoved it in both arms twice and was thinking about going for No.5 despite the fact that it isn't legal to stick me and fail more than twice. I gave up the whole idiotic idea on the spot figuring it has no effect on a defective gene or the rate of deposition of iron into your organs anyway. I did some research (2010 so not as much info then as now) and found EDTA mentioned on a Canadian uni lecturers lecture, and took it up immediately. I mention EDTA to any Australian doctor and I get a blank look. There are various drugs used but mention any of them and again, blank look. I had one idiot check for deferoximine but it isn't on the PBS so he told me he couldn't prescribe it. I said I could get any script filled online but no effect, and no script. I've been complaining to doctors since I was a 35 year old (I'm 63 now) but have never been treated for any symptom of iron poisoning ever. Chronic fatigue, aching joints, zero sex drive, aneurysms everywhere, random patches of pain, the ability to feel individual muscles and/or internal organs quite distinctly, and the foggy thinking which comes on as one's brain is poisoned and destroyed. I long ago realised I was on my own. I havee very little faith in the Australian medical profession where HH is concerned. I'd like to know what Australian doctors do in the event of ANY metal poisoning. Donate blood to rid one's self of uranium poisoning? Or lead? Or mercury? Donating blood just dilutes the other 7 pints, but zero else.
Thank you, doctor, for giving me more insight into my high ferritin level. Now I can ask my doctor to do other tests you recommended. I had Flu A Feb ferritin 993, Mar 647, Jul 422. I have A1C 6.2, BPH PSA 8.6. The last visit, Jul , said he was not too concerned with any of the ranges. Recommended to keep doing my intermittent fasting & exercise.😮 I'm 72. I still feel he should run other blood panel tests. What should I ask him to run? Thank you for great informative video.
Respected Dr. Thank you for your nice video. My wife is 29. Her HB - 9, IRON- 63, TIBC- 326, T. SATURATION- 19.3, FERRITINE- 567 (SAMPLE: SERUM) What is the root cause of high ferritin and how can be reduced?
My ferritin levels over the past four months have declined from 1350 to 922 to 770 about one month ago. My doctor feels that the cause of this was a serious cut on my leg when I was on a cruise . I am on blood thinners and the cut developed a hematoma which took several months to totally cure. I’m pleased with the decline, however, my energy level remains low. What other tests would you recommend to see if there’s something else causing this high ferritin level.?
@@trofrano Thank you very much. I will show my doctor the recommended tests that you prefer. I am getting some of then, but not all. Appreciate your reply to my dilemma. I am now a new subscriber.
Thanks for your thoughts, Dr. Tom. I would ask if it is really "iron deficiency" anemia rather than an anemia of "chronic inflammation," especially with his CRP (and additional numbers). However, I agree that not all high ferritin presentations = Iron overload. However, I have seen that all high ferritin findings present with iron "dysregulation." For example, an anemia of chronic inflammation results in iron locked up in tissues, and ferritin sequesters that free iron. With iron "dysregulation" secondary to chronic inflammation, HPA axis dysregulation, insulin resistance ensues. Not sure it's the other way around.
Besides the post hip replacement inflammation, two other factors for him were infection which can raise ferritin, and blood loss which resulted in the anemia. Fortunately, he responded well and is doing great. Thanks for your input.
I have borderline high iron levels but low ferritin @ 19 due to donating blood, eating a diet of iron absorbing foods, and avoiding beef. I don’t have Hemochromatosis or drink alcohol. I drank too much beet too juice which caused iron overload and I tried to fix it by donating blood. Now, I’m borderline anemic. HELP 😢
When someone drops their ferritin too low, they need to reverse course and get regular testing to make sure they get it right. Serum iron can fluctuate throughout the day depending on your intake. This video may help ruclips.net/video/YYk3u3eO_Ig/видео.html

i have looked on many interviews and they say that ferritin is a sign of inflammation in some organ, maybe the liver. stop the seed oils and sugar wheat flour, maybe. but all of them say to donate blood to get rid of the ferritin and take copper. bisglycinate
@trofrano thanks for that. I have another question? I had a little research about this and I found out that one of the reasons is if there's any inflammation inside the body. I have some calcium deposit in my left ankle and there's small swelling and pain a bit whenever I walk plus I have also frozen shoulder and also have some pain. Therefore inside maybe there's also inflammation. So maybe this causes my high ferritin because of those inflammations?

In the small percentage of cases that are due to iron overload and hemochromatosis, then therapeutic phlebotomy is of course helpful.
