My 66 year old husband was diagnosed with this. He joined me in my vegan diet. 6 months later his heme iron was was better than normal. His skeptical doctor who dismissed the vegan diet would not even come into the room to give us his results. He sent his nurse practitioner in. We switched doctors.
I am a fan of clean vegan unprocessed diets-I tend to use more keto vegan due to my neurology practice with seizure or isolated epileptiform discharges. Are you more raw or cooked vegan? I personally have lectin problems and tend to be clean carnivore, but I support all clean diets like smart vegan and like Robert Lustig MD does on YT. Thank you for telling your story!
I don't know if my body is an exception, but I have haemacromatosis and it only got worse with a vegan diet. So bad that I had to do bloodletting for over a year to get back to normal levels. Now I'm back on a vegetarian diet with a lot more dairy products and my haemachromatosis no longer needs to be treated. Vegetarian is very good for me. Vegan is absolutely not.
@@aussteigen But the diets are so similar are they not? How would vegetarian be so good and vegan be so bad when both exclude meat? Dairy and eggs are the treatment for hemochromatosis? I don't get it. Am I missing something here?
@@Veganarchy-Zetetic It was a complicated search for me, but now I even have almost too little iron. I do a lot of sport and try to eat a lot of protein, but everything that has protein also has a lot of iron, except eggs and dairy products.
Back in the summer of 2018, at 57 years of age, I was 321lbs, had night sweats and leg cramps every night. I knew something was wrong. I went to Doctors and found out I have Hemochromatosis - a genetic blood disease that stores excess iron in your organs. My Ferritin was 4580. Normal Ferritin levels are 0-50. I had a liver biopsy and I had a severe fatty liver along with iron being stored in my liver, and damaging it. I’m a non-drinker and non-smoker, so I found it strange that my liver was in such bad shape. I was then placed on weekly phlebotomy treatments in which they take out a pint per week. Within 2 years I was down to 170lbs. Five years later my ferritin is under 50, but my liver has been damaged. I keep trying to tell my sister to get tested, but she doesn’t understand the seriousness of this disease. My whole matriarchal side of my family did not live past 64 years of age.
4580 is a very impressive nonsense number! I now understand why most specialists didn't want to do anything below 1000. I suppose you have got a positive genetic test (double copies).
So im 24 found out I had it last year ferritin was at 500, I’ve gotten it down to 200ish, I’ve done a lot of research on this and most people see symptoms as they are older, i feel like I started feeling the symptoms after I turned 21 I dismissed everything cause I thought I was just being lazy, my doctor told me since I enjoy a nice steak and cooking, eat whatever you want, just adjust the amount I donate blood throughout the year, but my whole life I get a sinus infection probably 2 times a year depends on weather it always happens from hot to cold so that makes sense about the infections, thank you for the video very educational !
Wow, this video has opened my eyes to more of this condition than just getting the blood drained every month. Is there more that I need to know? My hematologist is so very vague about where my levels need to be also. Thank you for sharing!
I think my brother probably died of Haemochromatosis a couple of months ago. I thought it was alcoholism or maybe long Covid, but recently I was reminded my father was very worried about him 20 years ago. I think my brother brought back a medical report from work that pointed out the problem. My brother had a weird phobia of doctors and refused to seek medical help when he was obviously I'll. He had a weird skin condition with red spots all over his body. He was tired all the time. In his last six weeks he turned yellow. He looked like a scarecrow. He did not lose his hair or turn copper. He did not complain of joint paint or sexual dysfunction, but he wouldn't do.
@@TheHumanCondition I wonder why the autopsy did not prove or disprove this. The coroner opened an investigation and sent off some blood samples for testing, but now it has gone into slow time. He did not have any children and I am pretty sure I do not have it. I have told his cousins.
When I first heard about hemochromatosis I found that I have many of the symptoms. My mid 30’s I had a very stressful job and that’s when my symptoms started-especially the extreme fatigue. I gained tons of weight without changing my diet and had already quit alcohol. It wouldn’t surprise me if I have nonalcoholic fatty liver, however my bloodwork always shows that my ferritin is with in normal range, my thyroid is fine but my white blood cell count is slightly elevated which means I’ve got inflammation or a constant infection. Doctors are clueless about what caused drastic spike in weight and the other symptoms like rosacea and extreme fatigue…all of the sudden.
Glutathione is the most powerful and direct detoxifying molecule, but it make a difference whether given by mouth or topical or IV. NAC and Milk Thistle both stimulate glutathione indirectly, but they do work well. Thank you for watching our channel.
Any iron that is above the lab range is a problem until further notice. Some medications act as anti-inflammatories and could lower ferritin levels artificially. I would look at reticulocytes, ESR, CRP, homocysteine, and all the differential RBC and complete cell count data. Rhabdomyolysis should be investigated with a doctor, and more than I can explain here. Please keep us informed.
Can you please help me understand my results??? My iron was high at 206 mcg/dL the normal is between 37-145, my iron saturation was high at 58% the normal range is 20-50%, my transferrin level was normal, but my ferritin was high at 419 ng/mL with the standard range being 13-150. I know my ferritin was high back in 2018. None of my doctors even mention it, and I don't know if I should be concerned.
I would consider inflammation as possible mechanism, and also look at other blood markers, and I often ask hematologists these questions before taking medications. I would investigate further this is not enough information-TIBC, alk phos, CRP, homocysteine, IL-6, GGT and others.
If it is deemed the most common inherited genetic disease, why is not a periodic serum ferritin test taken more regularly for people that complain of fatigue and constipation. It's a simple test, why wait? May doctors don't realize how common it is. It is the most underdiagnosed disease as well. It's a continued failure of western allopathic medicine. Thanks for doing the show. However, more could be said regarding importance of patients asking for the test of stored iron....serum ferritin and not just serum iron. They are two different tests.
Some people with high iron are helped with natural antiinflammatories, zinc, low carb diets, reducing seed oils, lactoferrin supplements, and the Walsh metallothionein formula.
I think its mostly diet and stress related, but I cannot know in your case. Look at low carb diets and carnivore diets and read Carnivore Code by Paul Saladino. Carnivores dont get this generally despite the iron in red meat. Let me know what you think.
I would really consider diet, there are controversial mechanisms proposed that posit inflammation and plant antinutrients can drive a cascade of iron retention in those with genetic susceptibility. I have seen carnivore help, believe it or not. It is the lack of carbs and high fat that helps some it seems.
@@TheHumanCondition So you think vegan eating would cause this? I have had this since long before I became vegan. With heart problems also in my family I would be more concerned about my heart health on a carnivore diet.
I could not be sure, but I used to eat a non-vegetarian diet that was plant based, and had a fair amount of meat. When I found Low Carb Down Under they had good explanations about heart health on carnivore, and which mechanisms could drive symptoms in patients who "eat a balanced plant based diet". I applied elimination diets like Mikaela Petersen did and I got crazy good and consistent results with thousands of people. Let me know what you think after you see the docs on that YT channel.
Each lab has apparently regional normal values. Total iron and ferritin here appear to be generally in the typical band if I read them right, and transferrin saturation at 55% seems to be on the border of high. In some cases, a profile like this could be an early hemochromatosis or high iron intake problem. Other values need to be taken into consideration. Thanks for the exercise. Let us know what you and your doctor discover.
I would see a functional medicine clinician, or a internist, hematologist, or smart GP. What is spleet? My understanding is this is slang for the female anatomy, or maybe the rear end (got to be childlike regarding references to anatomy here on YT), but I am not sure of this term. The most common presentations for similar numbers tend to be hemochromatosis or inflammation, please get local help and keep us informed. If it is blood in urine or stool, it can be more complicated.
Im so confused. Ive inherited one gene C282Y. I am always fatigued no matter how much sleep i get and often have a cold or flu but my doctor said i cannot get any symptoms from only inheriting only 1 gene. I requested a copy of my Ed-Haemochromatosis report and it stated that although i dont have haemochromatosis and do have high iron levels further investigating tests should be done to find out more information incase theres an underlining reason as to the high irion. Which my doctor did not mention during the consultation. Should i seek a 2nd opinion?
My brother was recently diagnosed with hereditary hemochromatosis at levels over 600. I asked my doc to run a complete iron panel and she reluctantly ran this: iron binding capacity, UIBC, iron, iron saturation, Ferritin. I'm 54 (no uterus) and my FERRITIN was high, range of 15-150 per LABCORP and mine was 219. Also when it comes to lab ranges Quest shows for someone my age that normal is 16-232 so if that's the case and I'm at 219 am I really in range afterall or do I have to go by LABCORP ranges since that’s who did the test? My Doc said nothing to be worried about and that's that. Do I need to push for more tests? What is the exact genetic test that I need to ask for? She doesn't seem to know about it at all and I don't know if I should see a specialist or not? I also have Hashimoto's, active EBV, MTHFR c677T and feel like I struggle every single day with inflammation, fatigue, brain issues, weight gain, joint pain, etc. My a1c rose to 5.9 but I brought it down to 5.7 over a period of a year. I made her prescribe me a continuous glucose monitor which is super helpful but still trying to figure out why my glucose seems to run high (130) during the day and sometimes super low (55) at night. Especially when I don't eat carbs or processed foods & I try to intermittent fast most days. But I do like my wine with dinner which I'm trying to stop. I know that's a lot but I'm a bit of a mess. I wish I could find one doc or one naturopath that was really good at figuring this out without throwing meds and or 20 supplements at me. When I try to be my own advocate I get that glare. take care!
I have tended to found that those with autoimmune diseases are forced to reduce food antigens severely, and Mikhaila Peterson (Fuller) is a great example. Most people can just follow the advice of Robert Lustig and eat clean, but many are forced to go strict carnivore somehow, at least for a while. I have seen hundreds of people reverse autoimmune diseases and then other problems doing this. It can get complex. Trace minerals can also help stabilize blood sugars. Keep us informed.
Hi, my iron was high (267 normal range 33-193), the saturation was also high (80% normal range 16%-45%), but my ferritin was normal (34 normal range 15-45) and transferrin as well (234 normal range 200-360). I am very concerned. The other blood results came back normal except vitamin B9 (1,2). Can these results be impacted by eating before getting the blood work done?
Normal or lower ferritin levels does not mean you don’t have hemachromatosis. It just means you’re in early stages of it yet and the storage buildup has not driven up your ferritin levels. . This is a good thing. Go get tested.
I always had low iron and ever since I had 2 pints of iron fusion in the hospital. Immediately I start having nerve pain, barely could walk, skin issues. My iron level is now 19 and now my ANA is positive. My skin itches all over. This sounds what I have but it is not genetic
A good functional medicine doc or a hematologist can help discover if one has anemia of chronic disease, oxidative stress, or some other cause of iron problems. Iron can be a 2 edged sword and hurt as much as it helps sometimes. Good luck!
I usually start with fractional or microdoses of IP6-less than a single capsule and work upwards to the label recommendations. Also consider turmeric and zinc and calcium all reduce iron binding. Here is a nice review: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8110241/ I have also theorized that lactoferrin, a substance found in colostrum or first milk, may help in hemochromatosis here is another paper; www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/10245332.1997.11746364?needAccess=true Let us know what you discover!
@@TheHumanCondition thanx for the info. I don’t think I have hemochrombtosis but Is my ferritin dangerously hi of hi normal ? I was on a carnivore diet all my other iron levels are normal What’s the highest limit an target I should go for for a safe zone.
Labs set normal ranges regionally, so doctors usually use the lab range of normal for each test in their area of the country. We are slowly accepting a sicker population so this trend will become a problem. 60 to 300 is the typical US range, I have seen lactoferrin supplements also help lower high ferritin.
I have slightly high ferritin of 226, but my iron saturation level is only 15. I was diagnosed with hemochromatosis, but can your iron saturation be on the low end with it? Just curious.
this is seen often, sometimes it is caused by inflammation when ferritin is high but all other cell and iron markers are normal. ferritin is called an acute phase reactant in this case and does not indicate low or high iron. I look at CRP and other markers to confirm inflammation and physical exam.
There is plasmapheresis, but often it takes metallothionein III inducing supplements and bloodletting over time to heal the iron laden liver. Its hard work once the live is full of iron on MRI
Maybe-ferritin is an acute phase reactant which means it can indicate general inflammation. Check out Dr. Saladino and Dr. Berry on youtube regarding gout.
Well one has to see a gp first for haemochromatosis blood tests and then if iron levels are high due to having the genetic condition blood letting is next its called phlebotomy so thank you for alerting us to the disease.
My ferritin is 530, transferrin saturation 56% and TIBC 44 , went to donate blood but they wouldn't let me due to some migraines. Do you think IP6 Gold can help ? I also started to take turmeric, garlic and ginger everyday almost. But hard to get off dark chocolate, ox liver, spinach/brocolli and other things with iron :D I also have slight constipation and feel some inflamation around the stomach although I'm doing intermittent fasting and eat pretty healthy.
Let me comment on the IP6 here, I know Shamsuddin the inventor of IP6 and it is an amazing product. The capacity for detox and recovery from a number of conditions is facilitated by this. See his book IP^ + Inositol by Prof AbulKalam M Shamsuddin MD PhD
conflicting signs of the iron panel can be confusing-one note is that high ferritin can be an acute phase reactant which means a sign of inflammation, not always high iron. There could be a parasite, or a toxic exposure as well with these type of numbers. Let us know what happens,
@@TheHumanCondition Many thanks for your quick replies. Went further with the tests and the inflammation was because of H Pilory which I'm treating at the moment. Also my thyroid peroxide antibodies were a bit high at 65. Been told my body doesn't really absorb iron as it should.
I have hemochromatosis and had very high iron, now controlled. I went on super low iron diets and normal iron diets, on the super low iron diets i even took a lot of tea and calcium to block iron. seemed to make zero difference with me.
My ferritin was 290 in Jan 23. End April ultrasound showed fatty liver (surface smooth) and pancreas. Went on very strict keto May 4th and lost 15 Ibs and had a CT scan of abdomen due to left rib pain, probably due to working on flooring for two weeks, and everything was fine. Never felt better and a blood test a week ago showed ferritin at 490. Could the fatty liver have generated this and ferritin remained? CT scan made no mention of fatty liver or pancreas other than saying no issues.
There may be a need for a special iron based MRI of the liver when this happens, high ferritin can be hemochromatosis ask your rheumatologist or hepatologist, or internal medicine doc. You could have burned off the fat and left the iron in the liver....?
@@TheHumanCondition so if this is the case how do you remove the iron? I donated blood last month and will be donating again on October. This should help?
donating is good, the inflammation from carb diets tends to drive hemochromatosis in those with the genes. Carnivores don't get hemochromatosis (or scurvy) generally.
I would talk with a hematologist about that and correlate it to any symptoms or other lab tests. I like transferrin testing too. Let us know what happens.
I cannot diagnose here for several reasons so lets discuss potentials; One should consider that ferritin may also take a role as an acute phase reactant and not just an iron marker. this can be confusing. This can mean that sometimes these APR markers elevate when inflammation is present or other acute metabolic stress. A complete iron and red cell blood panel should tell the tale, and if in fact there is an anemia (there are several types of anemia), then bloodletting could be a problem. To be sure that hemochromatosis is not present, one's liver may need a special MRI to detect iron overload. In a rare case, one could have a liver full of iron long term, and then lose acutely some red blood cells. making one appear anemic. That is rather like a Dr. House episode. there is also the complexity of anemia of chronic disease, which is too much to explain here. Check with a hematologist if you have questions and let us know what happens.
I’m a carrier. My ferritin is 546. All other markers normal. I’m on a carnivore diet. Doctor claims it’s my diet. I do exercise a lot. I’m on supplemental oxygen at night for hypoxia and don’t weigh much - can’t donate . Looking for answers
Normal ranges vary for men and women and lab reporting regions. drhedberg.com/the-ferritin-test/#:~:text=What%20is%20a%20healthy%20ferritin,80%2D110%20for%20optimal%20health. Dr. Hedberg has a great site on functional ranges here.
my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diagnostics/17820-ferritin-test I like cleveland Clinic website for medical ranges for male and female when I am looking up things-ideally a lab tech manual is the best way.
@@TheHumanConditionsome experts say, the helphiest feritin for women is 20-40 and for men is 40-70. i can confirm that for me feritin 40 is ok, when i have no stres. As soon as i have stres, 40 is like zero. Feritin 100 for me is ideal, i can go to war!
So glad to hear. For those who are interested in hemochromatosis-sometimes the genetic or blood test for iron overload is normal, but the liver carries high iron burden. Only a special MRI for iron can diagnose this problem and is needed in rare cases.
I was diagnosed C282y x2, with Cirrhosis. My ferritin is over 3,000 and I'm not responding to weekly phlebotomy so my doctor is switching me to 2x a week. I feel so frustrated with this condition.
Some people have tried lactoferrin supplements, and others an antiinflammatory diet-by lowering plant inflammatory antinutrients and controlling insulin resistance. Can such a person eat meat? maybe, if the trigger for iron retention is inflammatory. Let me know what happens, it is an emerging idea that works in some.
normal ferritin range, low iron by lab values, this is not a diagnosis, but other tests could help. It sure sounds like some type of anemia, keep looking and tell us.
It is common to have an herbal smell to body fluids, and blood does smell metallic. Why are you bleeding? I check ferritin for iron as well as an iron panel.
I wonder if you are a SuperTaster, which is a person with highly developed taste and smell. Have you heard of this? do you react strongly negatively to some common foods and smells?
@@TheHumanCondition no not at all....my son does and he is 55.... The only smell that turns my stomach is the smell of cooked pork which causes me to retch... Smells like fried under arms to me.... But I figure it's because I am Kosher and am repulsed by just the thought of it..
Hello. There is something I definitely don't understand. We never see any trace of inflammation in my blood. CRP was letterally 0 the last time, sedimentation rate always normal. But I have pain everywhere. How could this be possible? I have joint and muscle pains, burning tongue, burning painful prostate and urethra (destroying any possible sex life, totally depressing). Could all this be neurological?
I started to see a new specialised chiropractor last week. She is highly trained in kinesiology, RNR, neuro-emotional. She made an hour of testing on me the first visit. My brain is not working well. She says my atlas is not right. I will have a series of X-Rays tomorrow followed by an alignment with a special machine. Once this is done, she says she will be able to address the other problems. I have a FPR, she says.
Coming back to iron. Does high iron irritate the nerves and create false pain? If I take natural chelators, does it create some kind of mobilisation worsening symptoms short term? I forgot to mention that I also take zeolite since many months (originally for mycotoxins, but might help with iron as well)
I just received my lab work back and my ferritin level is 2758. I believe that I have cirrhosis of the liver from Hepatitis C 20 years back. I did take the treatment (pegylated interferon w/ribavarin) and the virus was cleared. My GGT is 199. I have accessed my blood results on line but haven't got a call back from my Doctor. I only know anything about these high levels because I investigated them on the internet. Both of these levels are quite extreme and I am kind of confused as to why my pcp hasn't called me. Is that unusual? Should they be more concerned?
I ask the hematologist when I see these results. Inflammation can confound these results, and other tests or imaging could be necessary when people find super high lab results. Keep us informed!
Thanks for the video.. I have that condition and had to do quite a number of blood letting treatments. Had an MRI of the liver to show the Iron content and it was normal. But I also have done hair testing which shows higher amounts of Mercury and a Mycotoxin test that shows high Aspergillus. Right now I'm taking NAC to help with the liver but in your opinion is there a better option like Milk Thistle or something that can help detox the liver?
I'm glad the liver was normal for you. I tend to aim at the mold and heavy metals directly,. I use Great Plains Lab in Kansas for an excellent mycotoxin test of the urine burden to see which species it is in the body, and seek to eliminate the source of the mold. The director is an excellent PhD in toxicology William Shaw, and their website has excellent free videos on tests and treatment options for many conditions by great doctors including him. He wrote some great books too!
@@TheHumanCondition Yes that is the test I have done.. It showed extremely high Aspergillus which most likely from food?? Probably either berries or canned food I'm thinking..
Doc my transferrin saturation is high normal levels are 45% mine is 55% and all other iron status is normal is it iron overload and I have digestive issues also white tongue skin issues joint pains tiredness I’m only 21
ferritin is often an acute phase reactant-sometimes transferrin is too, and that may mean inflammation. I would consider inflammation and other early heme or pyrrole disorders-keep us informed.
You will have to seek your doctor for medical advice, and this appears less than the lab high cutoff but that depends where one is and normals in their region, and their medical conditions.
ideally one would want to see if there is a deeper liver problem of hemochromatosis iron deposits in the liver using a special liver iron MRI with a hematologist or hepatologist. Just blood letting does not resolve a liver full of iron. Let us know what happens.
transferrin carries iron, ferritin stores iron. Both are acute phase reactants or markers of inflammation, not just iron levels. Inflammation tends to raise ferritin and lower transferrin in blood tests, and then iron must be evaluated independently too.
Hi Michael, I've recently been diagnosed with HH iron 39 umol/L, T ferrin 23 umol/L, T sat 86%, Ferritin 378 ug/L just wondering you keep mentioning the inflammation what diet do you recommend for this though I considered the carnivore diet keto diet but they do have red meat in them any advise I'm currently 34 I'm not sure I've caught this early or not I've been referred to a gaetrologist but have to wait almost two months to see him to donate blood but as you any advise would be appreciated
I would check out ken berry and paul saladino and other docs online who explain that carnivores dont get iron overload because there is less insulin resistance and inflammation in them. Seed oils are a problem too.
@@TheHumanCondition do you have any links to any specific videos where they talk about it please? I've also seen a video on supplementing with copper the copper revolution what's your take or do you have a video on that
Copper is addressed really well by WalshInstitute.org. I have to search RUclips channel low carb down under for iron overload, I dont have one today but I will search when I can.
My ferritin level is high 408 and my hmc is low, what do you think is wrong, doctors seems to brush me off but I have breathing issues and can’t exercise properly and have stress etc
Ask your doctor about ferritin as an acute phase reactant-in other words, a sign of inflammation, not always high iron or hemochromatosis. Lung inflammation could lead to blood markers of inflammation rising.
@@TheHumanCondition I mean my mch is 27.1 (27.5-33 is normal) my mcv is 82 (80-100 is normal) I’m really in low mood, have breathing issues, can’t seem to exercise much, I get cold every other day like I have fever, and find it hard to not leave my bed.
Dr. Please tell me what should I do, I have normal level of iron but my feratin is 650 high. I have joint pain and low libido . Please tell me what should I do..thank you
I have that exact same level. Did your GP put you through any gene testing? They may prescribe phlebotomy and if not you will have to donate blood as often as possible until you reach your desired outcome.
I’m a male and have just before my first blood donation measured it be 586 mikrog/l. My P-Iron is 18 mikromol/l. In your experience how many blood donations is it going to take to bring it down to normal levels? In Denmark 🇩🇰 you can only donate every 3 months and they tap 0,5 litres.
this is a common problem, and I don't have an answer for how many, but there are many people who need to bloodlet more than donation allows. I dont have a legal answer for this, except to try to change diet in those cases that it helps. It is not known why this happens, but many holistic docs discuss stress, environmental toxins, high carbs and food lectins. I am not sure. Some discuss metallothionein III supplements by William Walsh too.
@@TheHumanCondition I follow Gundry’s lectin free diet as much as I can and eat mostly complex carbs. But stress that I have on and off. C’est la vie. You can’t escape stress in this life. My functional doc put me on CytoQuel by Researched Nutrionals. Haven’t heard of those you mention but will check them out. I’m also taking Glutathione, Methylated B complex, NAC and other supplements. All my other numbers are perfectly fine. Jus high ferritin and low testosterone and Pregnenolone
Not usually, no, because there is usually an immune deficiency, disease or medication that may compromise the donation for others. When donation is denied it can be difficult to dump iron in hemochromatosis.
@@TheHumanCondition Then what options do I have? To bleed myself? LOL Will need to get a prescription for blood removal, but I am affraid that it may be long to get the treatment. Everything is freaking slow here. I have a call with my doctor Monday morning. I am not happy because he know my parameters since 5 weeks and did not tell me the last time we talked.
@@TheHumanCondition I had the call with my doctor this morning. As a generalist he cannot treat me for this condition. He has to refer me to an internist. The delay to see an internist here is between 3 months to a year. Given that my ferritin is not above 1000, I will not be considered as a priority! My only remaining option is to give blood. He is open to prescribe me an MRI to speed up things but he is expecting some delays to get it as well. He is not convinced yet that the iron is the fondamental problem. I am really fed up, been sick for years now and from what I read it is clear in my mind that the iron is the main problem.
Bloodletting can be helpful, but also look at oxidative stress and consider antioxidants. Low carb also really helps in my experience. Keep us informed. Some need the special iron based liver MRI scan.
@@TheHumanCondition My doctor finally changed his mind and finally gave me the presciption for bloodletting. I don't know exactly why, but I put him a lot of pressure as well as providing evidences. I had my first one on Thursday March16th. I also gave blood by myself 2 weeks before. They will verify my parameters one day before each bloodletting. Last Wednesday my ferritin was already down to 459 compared to 583 in January (only one blood donation). My serum iron and saturation were also now normal. It's the fisrt time in about 10 years that my ferritin is below 500. I am taking NAC, ALA, curcumin, resveratrol, copper, zinc, manganese, tons of magnesium, an iron free multivitamin and recently started IP6. I stopped all the mistakes I was doing before dealing with mycotoxins. I was taking bentonite, chlorella and diatomaceous earth (all full of iron) and another "brain" supplement containing iron as well. So far, my symptoms did not improve much. I still have general pains. There might be something else in //. The general itching is pretty much gone.
@@TheHumanCondition It turned out the milk I'd been consuming was fortified with iron. My doctor recommended I donate blood once and have my blood tested again in the near future. I'll let you know. Thank you.
Hi my ferritin levels are 220...all other blood results are normal..I'm been brought for gene testing next week as my mother has haemocromotosis...what's chances I have it??😳
Not to diagnose; Its likely either hemochromatosis or massive inflammation. Remember ferritin elevated can be an acute phase reactant which means a general alarm for inflammation.
All my iron parameters are way overrange high. Ferritin it's been like that for 10 years, the other ones are new. I have a chronic prostatitis (suffering) since 14 months. Weight loss, insomnia, anxiety, and many other symptoms. We found mycotoxins in my urine, thought was the root cause of everything but after home remediation and binders for 7 months, it does not change much. I now find the iron issue. Could my prostate condition be related to the iron overload? They find no evidence of infection at all, but this stupid system cannot test for fungals. I did had a systemic candida problem, I have been on anti-fungals since a year.
Wow the system is failing chronic patients. I use Great Plains lab for urine mold testing, and it is published in literature that inflammation is worsened by excess iron, and excess iron worsens inflammation, cancers and infections. Metallothionien III is important to induce in the body as it carries minerals like iron and zinc and other minerals. Zinc lozenges can stimulate the MIII and this can help with iron overload and heavy metal clearance.
@@TheHumanCondition That's what we used. I first got an AOT urine test showing toxicity and chlostridium indicators. Then my intuition told me to get the Mycotox test and I asked my naturopath to get it. It came back positive for 3 mycotoxins. These tests are expensive and not covered by my insurance. I am in Canada. No doctors here beleive in these tests, except mine, but he is not a functionnal doctor.
Oh wow thanks for telling us about your progress. Keep me informed on how this goes with your testing. Hair heavy metals testing may help with stubborn clostridia too as they like to feed on toxic heavy metals.
@@TheHumanCondition I managed to drop my ferritin to 150 in a few months, and the other parameters fell below normal. Unfortunately, this didn't solve my chronic pain and the other symptoms. We stopped the phlebotomies. My hemoglobin was slightly low the last 2 times I have been tested.
Look into metallothionein III induction with supplements. Its possible to have a problem with mineral carriers. Let us know what happens. Check other blood work for small or large red cells too and protein markers.
@@eyejuice2306 ill copy paste this : iron serum levels stay regulated because the body can't dump it so it's stored as ferritin. The ferritin doesn't last forever and eventually oxidizes. A ferritin above 20 is a good indicator that the body is storing iron. Over time that builds up in organs like heart and liver. Happens much quicker in hemochromatosis but the process is the same. The body does not have a pathway for removing excess iron. mine is normal.
Could be acute phase reactant of inflammation, but DDX could include a liver iron MRI special study for hemochromatosis. Iron levels are not always high, if stored in liver.
@@TheHumanCondition Chiropractic is not a medical doctor. Those who have elevated iron levels need to see a medical doctor to find out what is going on, it could be a lot of different things and may need referal to a specialist. You can't just jump to conclusions.

What is better than normal level?
So glad you wrote in!
Yes, watch out for carbs, lectins, and toxic chemicals and mold too, they can raise ferritin.
Wow, this video has opened my eyes to more of this condition than just getting the blood drained every month.
Is there more that I need to know? My hematologist is so very vague about where my levels need to be also. Thank you for sharing!
I always look at stress, adrenal function and metabolism using OAT urine test and DUTCH hormone testing. Let us know how it goes!
Im so sorry to hear that. An autopsy or special iron based MRI of the liver would prove or disprove this. It is familial so get the family checked.
@@TheHumanCondition I wonder why the autopsy did not prove or disprove this. The coroner opened an investigation and sent off some blood samples for testing, but now it has gone into slow time. He did not have any children and I am pretty sure I do not have it. I have told his cousins.
Check the autopsy report the liver should have showed evidence.
Excellent information, thank you from South Africa 🙏
Its my honor.
I would investigate low carb diets, and problems with blue light first. Please tell us what you discover!
Thank you ❣️
Which have you seen better results with NAC or Gluathione.. or Milk Thistle??
Glutathione is the most powerful and direct detoxifying molecule, but it make a difference whether given by mouth or topical or IV. NAC and Milk Thistle both stimulate glutathione indirectly, but they do work well.
Thank you for watching our channel.
Hello . What if your ferritin is normal. But your iron levels are high? And what would you consider very high? Thank u
Check with a hematologist for hemochromatosis if you dont get good answers, and they sometimes order the special iron MRI for the liver.
@@TheHumanCondition thank you. I appreciate the response.
Hello I have a high ferritin of 560 and a low iron of 41. My liver enzymes came back high? Should I take iron supplements or not?
I would consider inflammation as possible mechanism, and also look at other blood markers, and I often ask hematologists these questions before taking medications. I would investigate further this is not enough information-TIBC, alk phos, CRP, homocysteine, IL-6, GGT and others.
My last blood labs showed I have low iron but high ferritin at the same time. My left fingers are stiff and numb.
people can have iron anemia and inflammation at the same time,
what should I check out Feritin or Iron ?
I like to run ferritin, transferrin, iron, TIBC or UIBC, and hemoglobin and hematocrit, and complete blood count if I am investigating iron issues.
seems our western iron levels are too high, even recommended levels. Low iron is associated with longer lives...(as is high cholesterol)
Yes for sure!! thank you for the emphasis. Ferritin and transferrin saturation and even metallothionein III is so important.
@@TheHumanCondition Whoa another condition to spell to others...phlebotomies and zinc supplements
@Susan Sees does taking these help with high iron especially if ive inherited one gene, the C828Y?
Some people with high iron are helped with natural antiinflammatories, zinc, low carb diets, reducing seed oils, lactoferrin supplements, and the Walsh metallothionein formula.
@@TheHumanCondition and Glutathione
Mine is high . I’m supposed to get chemotherapy. Will that help
Lower it ? It is supposed to lower your iron .
Some chemo can lower iron, so can blood letting, and some have used lactoferrin but its not proven like drugs so far.
I think its mostly diet and stress related, but I cannot know in your case. Look at low carb diets and carnivore diets and read Carnivore Code by Paul Saladino. Carnivores dont get this generally despite the iron in red meat. Let me know what you think.
I am a carrier for hemochromatosis and I get high iron levels. I donate blood as often as I can. As a carrier I shouldn’t have a problem but I do.
Most doctors don't even know about the copper and vit A connection. Also the ceruloplasmin blood test.
Dr. I have a question 🙏. So my ferritin its at 88ng. Total iron its 142 and my iron saturation it’s at 55 h … are this normal numbers
Sir, my ferritin level 1907, sgpt 271, sgot 155, regularly i see blood in my spleet, what should i do sir?
I would, there is always more to it and experience helps.
I would ask if a family history of iron disorders was present, and seek a hematologist to clarify for you.
Normal or lower ferritin levels does not mean you don’t have hemachromatosis. It just means you’re in early stages of it yet and the storage buildup has not driven up your ferritin levels. . This is a good thing. Go get tested.
Well said @postwarmage2839
I always had low iron and ever since I had 2 pints of iron fusion in the hospital. Immediately I start having nerve pain, barely could walk, skin issues. My iron level is now 19 and now my ANA is positive. My skin itches all over. This sounds what I have but it is not genetic
A good functional medicine doc or a hematologist can help discover if one has anemia of chronic disease, oxidative stress, or some other cause of iron problems. Iron can be a 2 edged sword and hurt as much as it helps sometimes. Good luck!

Great question
this is seen often, sometimes it is caused by inflammation when ferritin is high but all other cell and iron markers are normal. ferritin is called an acute phase reactant in this case and does not indicate low or high iron. I look at CRP and other markers to confirm inflammation and physical exam.
This is great and everything, but you haven't talked about the reversal after the blood has been taken out from the body🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
There is plasmapheresis, but often it takes metallothionein III inducing supplements and bloodletting over time to heal the iron laden liver. Its hard work once the live is full of iron on MRI
@@TheHumanCondition yeah that's true. Love your channel!
Ferritin and gout is related? I have 744 feritin. I have urate of 8.15 also.

conflicting signs of the iron panel can be confusing-one note is that high ferritin can be an acute phase reactant which means a sign of inflammation, not always high iron. There could be a parasite, or a toxic exposure as well with these type of numbers. Let us know what happens,

Does plasma donation achieve the same as whole blood donation to temp reduce iron?
No, plasma just dumps fluid and electrolytes, not red cells which contain iron in hemoglobin. Red cells have to go for hemochromatosis.
2.8 year old baby has 23 ferritin in tha arrange of (22 to 300) firrten level......is ok or low ?
I would talk with a hematologist about that and correlate it to any symptoms or other lab tests. I like transferrin testing too. Let us know what happens.
My mom’s ferritin is 616 but she is borderline anemic.
Why?
And would bloodletting make her anemia worse?
I cannot diagnose here for several reasons so lets discuss potentials;
One should consider that ferritin may also take a role as an acute phase reactant and not just an iron marker. this can be confusing.
Also, could your mother drink alcohol regularly. There is a secondary Hemochromatosis acquired condition.

So glad to hear. For those who are interested in hemochromatosis-sometimes the genetic or blood test for iron overload is normal, but the liver carries high iron burden. Only a special MRI for iron can diagnose this problem and is needed in rare cases.

I forgot to mention that I also take zeolite since many months (originally for mycotoxins, but might help with iron as well)
There are many irritants that do not raise classical markers of inflammation, for example lectins, oxalates, histamine, etc.
Atlas misalignments can be huge, thanks for telling us about it.
Iron excess is know as an irritant and it can feed infections too.
Get a new doctor or switch to another medical group. Poor healthcare runs rampant unfortunately.

Watch the free videos on greatplainslaboratory.com about all these mold results and tell us what you discover.
Has NAC helped you with liver detoxing?
@@LencoTB No. Following the Medical Medium Anthony Williams Cleanse to Heal and Liver Rescue books have done more for me than anything.
I'm a 26 year old male and my ferritin is 327 is that high? If so should I do a blood donation?
You will have to seek your doctor for medical advice, and this appears less than the lab high cutoff but that depends where one is and normals in their region, and their medical conditions.
ideally one would want to see if there is a deeper liver problem of hemochromatosis iron deposits in the liver using a special liver iron MRI with a hematologist or hepatologist. Just blood letting does not resolve a liver full of iron. Let us know what happens.
What does low transferrin mean for it saturation %
transferrin carries iron, ferritin stores iron. Both are acute phase reactants or markers of inflammation, not just iron levels. Inflammation tends to raise ferritin and lower transferrin in blood tests, and then iron must be evaluated independently too.
Hi Michael,
I've recently been diagnosed with HH iron 39 umol/L, T ferrin 23 umol/L, T sat 86%, Ferritin 378 ug/L just wondering you keep mentioning the inflammation what diet do you recommend for this though I considered the carnivore diet keto diet but they do have red meat in them any advise I'm currently 34 I'm not sure I've caught this early or not I've been referred to a gaetrologist but have to wait almost two months to see him to donate blood but as you any advise would be appreciated
@@TheHumanCondition I mean my mch is 27.1 (27.5-33 is normal) my mcv is 82 (80-100 is normal)
I’m really in low mood, have breathing issues, can’t seem to exercise much, I get cold every other day like I have fever, and find it hard to not leave my bed.

Thank you, I am seeing blood Dr. on Feb-2nd so will see what he has to say..
Sometimes a special iron based MRI of the liver is required to diagnose hemochromatosis. If you don't get answers, see the hematologist.
Jus high ferritin and low testosterone and Pregnenolone
thanks for the product heads up, and your story. good job!
Can I donate blood while my neutrophils are too low?
Normal serum ferritin
Elevated serum iron
Normal CBC
Not taking supplements
Is hemochromatosis a possibilty?
It is possible, look for an internist or hematologist and tell us what you find.
@@TheHumanCondition ok thank you
The normal range here is up to 275, if we are talking of the same units.
@@TheHumanCondition then ppppp of p
Will phlebotomy help if the ferritin levels are high due to inflamation vs hemochromatosis?@@TheHumanCondition
My hemoglobin was slightly low the last 2 times I have been tested.
is 408 Ferritin ok, I
Its lab high, better check it out more.
Do I have hemochromatosis if I tested positive for H63D hertzyogene and 668 ferritin levels? My iron levels are normal.
My ferritin is very low but iron normal
How is that possible
Look into metallothionein III induction with supplements. Its possible to have a problem with mineral carriers. Let us know what happens. Check other blood work for small or large red cells too and protein markers.
Aug 8, 2017 · In addition, triglycerides, non-esterified fatty acids, and ferritin levels also decreased with glutathione treatment.

Thats crazy high. Mine is 650 and i have serious symptoms
@@OGAesthetics is your iron normal or is that high too ??
@@eyejuice2306 ill copy paste this : iron serum levels stay regulated because the body can't dump it so it's stored as ferritin. The ferritin doesn't last forever and eventually oxidizes. A ferritin above 20 is a good indicator that the body is storing iron. Over time that builds up in organs like heart and liver. Happens much quicker in hemochromatosis but the process is the same. The body does not have a pathway for removing excess iron.
mine is normal.
@@OGAestheticsmy ferritine level is 1713, iron normal. I don't think i have any symptoms aside from having 0 libido.
Could be acute phase reactant of inflammation, but DDX could include a liver iron MRI special study for hemochromatosis. Iron levels are not always high, if stored in liver.

Well said. This is an education channel not for treatment. My dream is to get people thinking for themselves. The US dept of labor, education, Medicare and HHS recognize chiropractic and Wilk Et Al vs AMA was won in federal court. Several states consider chiropractors physicians. After the Flexner report in 1911 chiropractic voluntarily chose to be a drug free and surgery free healing profession due to corruption. History is on our side and the science of chiropractic education is open and public. chiropractic school hours are equivalent to MD and DO with different emphases. You might like it.
