This video documents a protest that took place in Ennis, Co. Clare on the 13th of March 2010. The anti- Head Shop protestors gathered outside one of Ennis' two Head Shops after marching through the town.
Among the anti- head shop protesters there were two protesters in favour of keeping Head Shops open.
This video was produced by Colm Flynn
haha woman in red at 0:40 loves the "bath salts"
is that an ss sign on his collar?? im all for safe regulation of some drugs but i wouldn't support this guy
ok for a start , this is a recession. I have a mate who works in the Dublin head shop and in a couple of days he will lose his job just because people are immature, paranoid and completely closed minded. Now if you people ( i refer to protesters and politicians ) would open your eyes you would understand that if this country legalised cannabis we would have a greater tourist business, more tax coming in from the people who smoke it over here and A LOT less people in a&e every friday
Now how many of those people in the video do you see fallim out the doors of kmoxs or the libary on a saterday night!! There is a reason alcohol is strictly over 18s same as the stuff as in the head shops. Those who buy it are old enough to make there own decisons. So just drop it and start protestin to get Ennis A&E open after 8 will yis!! Do something more constructive with youre time
@seaniehay i think it is an unfair generalisation to say that anyone who does this stuff has a brain that is" fried beyond use". That is the problem with many people on your side of the argument. you seem to think that it is impossible to use any of these substances in moderation as im sure you are capable of having a pint occasionally and not becomming a raving alcoholic.
@seaniehay That's because there is no regulation. Why not regulate what they sell, close them down if they sell to kids. Do they have control now that the head shops are shut down. No. Kids in school will be back to selling hash at break time. I'd say Fat Freddy is having a part tonight.
you dont use headshop drugs yet you preach about them. you dont take headshop drugs yet you tell people it is they who dont know what they are talking about. go away for yourself.
whatever you think of yer mans comments................ i think its tru. how amny ppl do we see protesting outside ennis pubs? none........ ignorance is unreal in ireland
@seaniehay the substances will be on the market ban or no ban, so why let criminals get all the money with NO tax bein made to treat any problems it causes?
marijuana is safe. end of story.
well done with the campaign people! the decision to ban these things is an excellent one with no political motivaion whatsoever! Banning drugs has been hugely sucesful in many contries around the world including this one! after all who has heard of anyone taking heroin, cocaine, mdma or cannabis? teenagers wil definetly stop taking this stuff as they always have great respect for the law and also most drug dealers are sure to ask them for ID.
@Goregasm101 as producer of this video, i want to point out that a few of the protestors were doctors who have studied these drugs. So to say they are protesting about something "they have no knowledge of" is completely false
@Moontv2007
have you any links to peer reviewed articles on these protesters findings?
@averagejoe7777 but anyway why listen to me when you have been given such accurate and non exagerated or spin doctored infromation by people who have such a good first hand experience of these drugs?
@averagejoe7777 - you said "who needs research into long term effects or education on dangers when banning them is such a great way to stop people taking them?". It's almost like a quote out of southpark... It's a good thing you're not in charge.
Am I wrong or is there a trend these days for the laws that are passed to be your guilty until proven innocent. There's another law I heard recently that if your found asleep in your car and a cop finds you. You have to prove to the court that you had no intention of driving while drunk. The same seems to be the case with head shops. I was of the understanding that our state was based on innocent till proven guilty.
self regulation is no regulation and the guys in there do sell to people as young as fourteen
i just came here to see if dere was anyone i no
legalize it!!!!!!! anyway if you dont want to u dont have to use it!!!!
@Moontv2007 so..why arent you protesing about drink and tobaco?
@seaniehay well said!
Surely some sensible debate is needed on this issue?
haha free the head shop free your mind right on man haha
ya can still get some nice stuff off the internet ;)
down with that sort of thing
dunnes stores out,head shops in haha
thank you and well done on a great well balanced video.
you favourited a tune inspired by ketamine, which is illegal... why is this man more a degenerate than someone who owns an off-licence?
@seaniehay also, it is hypocritical to criminalise one group of people (people who take this stuff) whilst allowing another group to go on doing what they want (drinkers), especially when the latter cause such terrible anti social problems. If youve ever seen some one of mephedrone or even mdma (ecstasy), yud realise that your more likely to get a hug than a fight!
now he's famous on RUclips :)
@1998golf It is commonly accepted that the dangers of alcohol is highlighted on an ongoing bases,through education and media. They've been accepted by society over the centuries as substances which we should have the right to consume.The 'bath salts' that are sold in Head Shops are unknown to the public.The effects they can have on people are unknown too. It is perfectly acceptable and responsible, not to mention appropriate, that concerned parents protest against these unregulated 'bath salts'.
and Saturday night. Cop on, its just fine for you to have a drink but its not ok for me to relax and smoke a spliff? What sort of freedom is that?
Freedom is a laughable word these days.
It's fucking stupid to protest against this. "We're doing it because we don't like it." Well then don't take it and don't let your kids take it. I didn't like a movie I saw in the cinema last week and it actually would make more sense for me to protest about that - that's how stupid this is. Get your big noses out of things that don't personally affect you and if you don't like the product, DON'T BUY THE PRODUCT.
legalize pot now for 21 and over only same as head shops!!!!
