In the beginning when the college kids are in the vehicle what Chad yelled out wasn't squeal like a bitch, it was "Squeal like a pig" which is a reference to the movie Deliverance and the famous squeal like a pig scene with Ned Beatty. At the time it was an extremely disturbing scene. It is the same movie that made the song Dueling Banjos famous.
I think the collar popping causes the insanity. This is why the government started a secret project to make collar popping uncool via early social engineering in the 80s/90s.
The part that always gets me about this movie is just how well played Tucker and Dales friendship is. There are some actually touching moments which I certainly wasn’t expecting in a slasher comedy flick.
Not to mention how believable the romance between Allison and Dale is! That very understated, but extremely earnest "Dreams are *not* stupid!" from him set the stage.
For the bit at the end: remember Dale’s story for how he and Alison met and started dating begins with her being knocked unconscious through their interaction, and Dale dragging her back to his place to nurse her back to health. His friend obviously took the wrong lesson from the story…
6:15 That is "Chekovs' woodchipper." For those who don't get the reference, "Chekov's gun" is term used for Anton Chekov's principle that a playwrite shouldn't prominently introduce an element into the play that doesn't eventually pay off. He expressed it various times in various versions, the most well know being "If in the first act you have hung a gun on the wall, then in the following one it should be fired. Otherwise don't put it there."
Once you know the concept you start to recognize it everywhere. Another good example is in Shaun of the Dead with the rifle hanging in the Winchester bar which they all believe is just for decoration, only for them to find out it’s real when they try to use it towards the end of the movie.
This is top tier horredy right here. I watch this several times a year. Its my go-to comfort movie for after a bad night at work. Instantly lifts my mood every time.
This one flew under the radar for most people initially but eventually gained a cult following and is often included in a lot of horror lists. Do Splinter as well :D
I think it suffered because it came out pretty close in time to Cabin in the Woods. Both are awesome, but the public appetite for comedy/horror was split a bit.
@@sumnerhayes3411 Cabin In The Woods didn’t have a worldwide release til 2 years after Tucker & Dale though. It’s more because it was an indie film that had a limited theatrical release. Streaming on Netflix and word of mouth really helped this film
"Squeal like a pig" is what that college kid said at the beginning of the movie. it's a reference to DELIVERANCE, which is a backwoods horror movie from the 70s.
This movie is such a blast. It takes all the tropes of slashers a la Friday the 13 and similar others, and turn them on the head. The two menacing looking hillbillies being just good hearted guy while the school jock being the true hillbilly/serial killer. The hot girl falling for the fat bearded guy. The absurd situations and the comedy of errors which makes it look to the sheriff as though they are slaughtering young people. And of course, the chemistry and comedic chops of the two leads, Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine as Tucker and Dale respectively. Also, a nod must be given to Katrina Bowden as Allison. The love chemistry between her and Dale really comes out as genuine and heartwarming. Hilarious movie and a real treat to watch.
There's actually a special feature on the dvd that plays the movie from the college kids' perspective, where Tucker & Dale look like murderous hillbillies.
I just love how this movie resurfaced on everyone’s radar. My own relative thought I was insane to watch this movie, but when they watched it, they were hysterical.
I love Tucker & Dale Vs Evil. I bought the DVD off of Amazon in 2011 just off a whim (I often did back in the mid-early Amazon days). Am glad it is gaining a cult following and folks are discovering it.
This is one of my favorite movies and ya’ll are one of my favorite reactors. So glad you made this choice! I have so much fun watching you guys figure everything out.
The movie scenes in this reaction were extremely well cut I think. It had all the important/funny scenes in it, many other reactions cut out way too much. Great job!
This was the movie that stopped me watching trailers. The trailer spoiled the entire movie. It showed every single important scene and I was pissed and vowed never to watch another trailer for a movie I had already decided to see. Now I only view trailers sparingly and only for movies that I'm unsure about to decide if I wanna watch.
This is probably the most underrated comedy-horror movie ever. HILARIOUS! If I may Ive got another amazingly funny comedy recommendation, it's called: Macgruber. This movie is HILARIOUS and you guys would have a really fun time reacting to it, if you haven't seen it. Super, super good, and I really hope you guys consider it. Thanks for the hilarious reaction!
Wow, almost missed this video, this is one of my favorite movies, it isn't only funny, the message about communication is fantastic, most problems in the world are caused by miscommunication.
Yup, whenever something weird happens in our life, it's a safe bet that either me or my wife will at some point come out with "we've had a doozy of a day, officer" :-D
BJ took the wrong message from Dale's story. For the time being, Dale's going to enjoy the moment. Then, they'll go set BJ straight and help him with his soon to be girlfriend, and Diana will go on to become a great couples therapist. And after Tucker gets out of the hospital, they'll have a big wedding, where the trio has to fight evil again.
before i start watching i have to say: you both + tucker and dale vs. evil sounds like a perfect combination... i am sure i am not going to be disappointed :)

You know, what's funny about the ending was that you guys also reacted the same way that the teens freaked out seeing everything from their perspective as to thinking that the guy at the end just "punched out" that chick instead of some coincidental freak accident like Tucker, Dale and Allison's situation that started everything lol

I did not connect it until someone mentioned it yesterday when I was watching another reaction. The cabin Tucker bought was Chad's dad's cabin. Look at the stuff in the cabin. Especially the newspaper clippings from the Memorial Day Massacre. And, the sawmill probably had an industrial sized incinerator to get rid of detriment from the sawmill.....

Alan Tudyk is a great comedic actor. You should see him in Resident Alien.
