game has issues I'd like to see you try your lightweight build with these encounters: Spider Intercept the Redguns Cell final boss new game + Redguns encounter . . . and go and try your lightweight build in other souls games and see the difference
I've done all of these on my lightweight build except for the final boss (I'm assuming this means NG++ Final boss) and did not found any of them to be horribly difficult at all. Seems like a skill issue tbh.
Lightweights can work, its just a matter of how you approach the fit and how you kitted your AC's equipment. I've just did all of the above you mentioned with some minor difficulty, but was able to get through them nonetheless
@shobooknight yeah same. Completed the game on a lightweight build till new game++ including getting all S ranks. While sure heavyweights have access to more hard hitting weapons, positioning and movement is where lightweights shine. All bosses can be beaten with good weapon choice and positing. Especially after the nerf. Pre-nerf i struggled a bit using my laser pistol + stationary drone build against bosses but now sea spider is a joke and harder bosses are manageable for S rank attempts on most builds I tested
When I think of Sekiro I first think of the hard sound of swords clashing and that twang when parrying, god I love that game so much, it’s literally my favorite game ever made. When it comes to AC6, I think of the impact sounds of explosions or shotguns, that slow motion when defeating a AC! I’ve platinumed both game, hell, I’ve platinumed every Fromsoft game, their mechanics are just so satisfying to execute.
You feel every clang in the controller man I swear, Sekiro’s really amazing and incredibly compact making it replayable as hell, I think I managed to squeeze two NG cycles in a single day when I was hunting the 100%. Can’t wait to talk about that game it was quite an experience. Totally agree about Fromsoft games, very few titles have that essence of connecting player to controller like they do. Recently the only game really giving me that sense is Mount and Blade, feels anazing but I play that with M&K, the thundering hooves of your charging cavalry and then lowering your spear and connecting with a body is an insane feeling. Defo recommend, but fair warning it will take some adjusting, especially pre-Bannerlord.
@@jerrybi8400 Honestly it's whatever is most accessible to you but Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord is incredible, so is Warband though not as deep/worse QoL, but simpler in turn. M&B2: Bannerlord is on Gamepass and is 46GB I believe? M&B: Warband isn't, but it should be cheap somewhere and is only 1.2GB.
Fromsoft has taken "Nothing worth doing is ever easy" and made it their motto, slogan, and entire design philosophy all at the same time. This is a very good thing
The best part is the slow mo when you beat a boss. I always go for close quarters combat with the pile driver or pile bunker (forgot the name) and it looks and feels so awesome when the enemy mech just slow mo explodes.
Exactly my sentiment, the explosions look amazing in this game, even with the fodder MTs sometimes they'll seize up, twitch and then explode. It really feels like 3D Gundam
@@secar6529 I wish they had a shameless Barbatos set, but I can live with feeling like my own Gundam pilot at least hahah, it's got a little Gurren Laggan to it too!
Great take, great video. This game, this franchise, this style of game is completely new to me and I am hooked. I've done NG++ and nearing to S-rank every mission and even after all of this all I am telling myself is that I want *more*
You should check out the older Armored Core games. As a longtime fan of the series it makes me so happy to hear about new fans discovering these games. Personal recommendations are Armored core Master of Arena, Armored core 3, and Armored core 4 answer. Some of the best entry points into the older generations.
Older AC games are worth playing (more so when a modern computer can emulate them all). Daemon x Machina is also another amazing option for the mech itch.
I 100% agree with you man. I'm not a completionist but I am ~60% of the way through S-ranking all missions and I will 100% this game. Seriously the state of flow I get in when my build and playstyles are meshing is amazing!! I played some of 3rd gen back in the PS2 days and I decided to replay all of 3rd and 4th gen prior to AC6 coming out I will say that while they are pretty good games, they pale in comparison to AC6. Good experiences no doubt and I definitely found that flow in 3rd gen, they none the less are very different from AC6 and nowhere near as refined.
The same people that want the game to be easier and slower are the same shop addicted that want microtransaction in it like capes and pink glasses. it's good that there have been lots of games in the past year that are clapping these lazy stormtroopers away, back to their loot boxes, nevrotic screaming ragequits, paid customizations and battle passes. also the 4 alba lightweight build can clap ng++. if someone has problems fighting an half paralized vintage spider with a redbull fueled spider monkey jumping around at outaregeous speeds you have, indeed, profound skill issues.
AC6 to me is the balance of heft of AC2/3 and the speed of AC4 presented in a arcadey pick up and play format while still having challenge to make people whine instead of changing a strategy. only downfall I found was not as much parts as the older titles and AC overload is mostly done with shotties, compact shoulder grenade and Anti-Ice worm gun but this is an excellent re-entry for the franchise, already on NG++ and only started this last weekend lol
Considering how well received it was I think a DLC offering story expansion and additional weapons/core parts seems pretty likely, but definitely woulda been cool to see it shipped with more to boot. But, the new patch seems to be an all around buff so at least that opens more options up that won't feel y'know purposefully weaker anymore. Would you consider the old games worth re-visiting? Absolutely new to Armored Core, would love to know what might be the most essential to emulate :)
@@iamiceTV Not having a wide expanse to the parts list is quite forgivable since the goal should be to get the attention of the mainstream first, then start sprinkling more content after they have secured themselves more financially. I started with AC2/AC2:AA and played most of them in between. Loved going glass canon with a super light build with biggest boosters and generator with dual energy blades. If you decided on a revisit of the older entries I certainly wouldnt complain
@@SolomonSide3 Playstation 2! Perfect, I'll give it a whirl. I know that control scheme is gonna feel insane, I played a bit of Eternal Ring on the emulator and holy hell hahahah what a blast from the past
@@iamiceTV Would probably be a pain in the ass but you might be able to cheese the controls into using the sticks / mouse if emulation is what you are going to try out. As always make sure to find Moonlight and KARASAWA :D
Great video, I watched it with the feeling I was watching a channel with at least 100k subs, which is precisely what you deserve for this kind of in-depth and clearly studied content.
Ahh thank you :), maybe I'll hit it someday, for now I'm lookin at 500 and then 1000! Glad you enjoyed it mate, won't get any less than nerd-outs here. Maybe some occasional complaining.
I'm so glad to find a video that completely encapsulates my opinions about gaming today. Microtransactions are a sickness along with live service clones that barely see any innovation beyond the increase of the number on the screen. ACVI is phenomenal for everything you said and so much more. Subscribed!
Features labeled as 'DLC', MTX, virtual currencies, all of it is bullshit lol. A game already demands the most valuable commodity from any living being, time. Then again demanding me to fork over bushels of the one thing that compensates my time just so I can have fun...? I can't comprehend how people go along with it. AC6 will definitely get a more 'formal' review on this channel, I title those 'Why you SHOULD Play', just got some other stuff on my mind till then. Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for subscribing :) Inching closer and closer to 500!
@@iamiceTV There is only one game I found DLC reasonable so far and its the Monster Hunter series, they handle it perfectly. Since u literally get a "new" game with it. And I think thats how DLCs should be originally.
@@Nogu_s Expansions such as those are merited and well worth the cost especially if it's a game you love... but the only example Features sold as DLC I can think of would be the likes of Skyrim's Hearthfire, and Fallout 4's Nuka World and Automaton Workshop, all of which could have been introduced as free mods as a symbol of appreciation, and dedication to fascinate those who may play those games. Fallout 3's Broken Steel not being free is also ridiculous since Bethesda blatantly lied about the endings in that game. But, I always think of DLCs like FO:NV's Lonesome Road (the 3 others are amazing too), Witcher 3's Blood and Wine, Dark Souls 3's Ringed City, Oblivion's Shivering Isles as examples of true DLC.
I had that same moment when I realized the small flying drones were actually grown ass helicopters. It also makes you wtf the absolutely giant helicopter tutorial boss.
The moment i really fell in love with the game was when i unlocked the pile buner- and learned how to make it work. It feels so good- the sound design, the damage, the visuals, go above and beyond for me!
Ice.. just from the cadence of your speech, the tastefully paced and well placed editing... As a composer and music producer for over 3 decades... (when compared to any other content on youtube in the same category) listening to your narration is like enjoying a fine wine that's been thoughtfully paired with light yet flavorful hors d'oeuvres. Silly and flowery speech aside, really excellent quality production... keep it up... this channel should grow!
The silly and flowery stuff must be my trademark hahah, I love the performance aspect of a story. Really appreciate the compliment... honestly I never feel like I know what I'm doing, but I love trying.
Excellent video, you especially nailed it for me when talking about finding the types of games we each like, AC6 finally made my type of game clear to me
Thanks for this take, a lot of people miss when they talk about Fromsoft games and difficulty, but like you said "Shed your Pride, engage in something new; It's hard but I've never done this before: why would it be easy?" Altho for long time fans of AC games, they have (seen this before), more or less similar gameplay before and it does DEFINITELY (mainly from a knowledge perspective) make it a lot easier. I imagine its a prettty steep learning curve for complete newbies to mech games.
No fluff, all action. All your downtime is simply spent tinkering, and I cut out an entire section talking about the customization... for such a 'simple' format it feels incredibly deep.
Yea this is armored core 1-3 combined with modern time tech. I need more and they should’ve let us get at least the helmets of the HAL SOL both ayre and iguazu version .
I felt betrayed by AC5 when they literally clipped our wings, but AC6 has been an absolute masterpiece. I loved struggling for hours on my first playthrough with the hardest bosses I’ve faced in video games and the most basic equipment I had to work with.
Very spot on commentary, gamers in actuality are similar to lions in a zoo, complacent and comfortably slacking and getting spoon fed entertainment without need to apply any effort! Luckily we still have people who actually understand this! Great video!
I had zero interest in this game and looked at as a hurdle to the next fromsoft title. Something I wasn’t even interested in looking into. But every gaming channel I watch just kept talking about it. I bought it a few days after release and I haven’t played anything else since. It seems overwhelming but becomes surprisingly intuitive. It has challenging bosses but these are opportunities for growth and for expanding into different play styles. I hope this title continues to grow its fan base and the games continue to come.
Ran it back just to hear my voice in 1.5x, interesting hahahah Glad it spoke to you, I was on a Sean Schemmel binge while I was writing so it felt like the best way to get the point across
@@iamiceTV I'm just so tired of games coming out with little to no Character Customization/ Personalization... it's like they all agreed to stop doing Custom (Player created/customized/personalized) Characters - instead favoring their own generic "heros/heroines" (it's just not the same... like I would have loved games like the Horizon series if they did). 🤔
AC6 gave me a feeling I haven't had since I was 11 years old playing Megaman legends. changing the stats and watching the sliders move feeling how the build changes. The scale brings me back to playing with a trainset as a kid and the first time you see a serious pro hobby layout with multiple trains, animation, mountains, trestles, lights, color sound and everything is accurate it really draws you in and doesn't let go and produces that "one more mission" crack feeling always more detail to discover on each run.
I think it's damn near perfect. You have to learn it, you have to actually "get good" sorry if that hurts your ego or feelings or whatever, but after starting my second playthrough, I'm noticing I'm not having nearly as much trouble with stuff i did the first time, and this an actual new start, I'm not using a bunch of late game stuff i unlocked, i love this game so much, i got it on steam after beating it on the PS5. It just feels so good to play and makes you feel like a badass when you finally start to get the feel down.
Absolutely, and that level of learning is amazing where, god forbid your save gets corrupted, its not as if you're instantly weakened. Because even with just the starting weapons and the proper know-how you're still lethal.
My build after my first play through through to the other two where stun launcher and songbird, and two bazookas or machine guns. I used the terminal armor. So I ran in as close as humanly possible and unloaded making sure every shot hit, and I just keep blasting until my terminal armor bust then I pull back and heal and took care of it from there but with that I was able to beat almost any boss and at worse it usually always took them to there second phase, which is funny cuz it was almost my second phase and it was like very immersive
Putting to words exactly how I feel about it. This game may be a 'departure' but it is a great example of everything we wanted from Armored Core. This is the best of the new generation of AC, and I am glad that FS took its time making it.
So this video was recommended to me because of my love for armored core. Not just 6 but in general. Played them all since ps2. But that's not important. What is important is, no truer words have ever been spoken. Your eloquence and passion and smart analysis of the both ac6 and the current gaming landscape is unparalleled. And I applaud you good sir. I agree whole heartedly with your conclusions and statements. How you don't have more subscribers is beyond me. But rest assured you have a new subscriber today. And I will be keeping on eye on this channel. Keep delivering good smart content like this.
You so perfectly captured the gameplay experience man. This is one of the few games.where rhe combat is so fluid i can enter a flow state and just move through enemies, it's amazing, yiu can feel when your build is off or your timings arent quite right, re-adjust go back in and feel the flow change. Seriously this is one of the most amazing gameplay experiences ive had, right up there with Hades. And it comes wrapped in incredible visuals with sound design that makes the flow so visceral!!! And the STORY!!! Gah it's so good, the fact the story and missions change as you go through NG+ and NG++ is so amazing. Im now working to S-rank every mission and ive never done anything like that in a game before, im not a completionist by any means nut im going to 100% this one. Hands down it's my GOTY which is kinda shocking, even though i played AC3 back in the PS2 days I'm traditionally more of an RTS and CRPG guy.
CRPG guy but your vote isn't for Baldur's Gate 3? I haven't played that one personally, but man I haven't seen a single complaint other than the final act is kinda iffy. Though I do agree, AC6 is my GOTY but I've only touched this and Starfield. Also totally agree, funny enough I made a video on Hades a while back, but at that point my writing style was a bit rawer and I was still trying to resolve what I wanted my videos to convey. I think the big take-away from games like this, is no matter where you are, once you've figured it out you can be deadly with the starting kit. Likewise, if I start a new Hades save I could probably tear through Stage 1-3 bare ass with just the spear, because I know what I'm doing, y'know? Once I've got it in me to do the formal Why you SHOULD Play format for AC6, you'd best believe those things are getting mentions. I saw some folks say the story didn't matter and was utterly confused, even just through chapter 2 you should see the pieces falling into place.
@@iamiceTV I may have to stop calling myself that. It seems like the older I get the less of a CRPG guy I become. I think my day job is a big factor, I'm an aerospace engineer which is a very cerebral position, and after a day of work I feel like my brain can't handle digging into a CRPG. Not that AC6 doesn't require a lot of brain power but it feels like it demands a very different kind of mental energy than BG3 and my job lol. So at this current point in my life I'm finding far more enjoyment getting into that flow state in AC. Oh man, I have never been more frustrated than watching someone live streaming or doing a let's play of AC6 and skipping over all the dialogue and then later them making comments that the story is non existent or overly confusing or didn't do enough to draw them in and care about any of the characters. It's like my guy, you literally skipped all of it, you expect to be able to understand it when you're skipping it????
@@iamiceTVoh also highly recommend giving Subnautica a shot. I hope you've managed to avoid spoilers for what happens in that game as it's one of those games where knowing what's coming really cheapens and takes away from that first playthrough experience. Subnautica and Outer Wilds are easily the two games that make me wish highly selective amnesia were a thing so I could experience them fresh again.
@@Ender240sxS13 Can understand that, CRPGs do have a lot more interfaces to mess with whereas the brainpower behind AC6 is almost all tied to action. Also, picking the right dialogue option in a CRPG can be nerve-wracking hahah But yeah definitely floors me, especially because the dialogue takes all of 90 seconds at most? Also I don't know much about Subnautica other than there are big scary fish monsters at some point. Otherwise the game's largely foreign to me outside of seafaring survival. Absolutely plan to try it.
@@iamiceTV what's funny is the devs have said multiple times that they had zero intention of making scary, they just wanted to capture the feeling of diving deep into an alien ocean. Which they did beautifully which is exactly why it is so nerve-wracking at times lol.
Its only hard if you want to choose the weapon systems you like to use. If you use the meta weapon systems then its pretty easy. Dual song bird & miniguns will drop almost every boss with ease. if you find yourself struggling then try dual songbirds and zimmermans. if youre really really struggling switch over to the shoulder needles, this combo is tearing through NG+ faster than my first run.
Nah, meta abuse is boring, thoughtless and lame. Having a youtuber make your build for you instead of putting your own thought and consideration is an L
You don't even need meta builds as long as you make a build that can reliably put the boss or bosses for a level in stagger and have something to cash out on damage. Then just choose the pulse that works Which is usually assault but others can have value. Then you just need enough ammo to clear a mission like the Michigan mission
You are being blessed by the algorithm.... and your timely addition of this game to your reviews. I also liked your optimus prime cameo around the 3:40 mark. Thanks again for the cool video.
Never seen your content and I just subscribed after 50 seconds of your video. your style of content is what got me, not sure if you know matthewmatosis but your commentary is reminiscent of his kind of commentary (in a very good way)
I've never sat down to see a whole video through, but I know he's got a 6 hour behemoth on Dark Souls that I'll surely chew through when I'm done with the trilogy. Seems like a thoughtful fella I appreciate the compliment! Matthew's channel is pretty massive so maybe I'm doin somethin right. Glad you enjoy the video :)
I have a light weight with zimmermans and a laser dagger and the laser drone that follows you around. I find the pulse hitting and landing more often better than the piledriver, i call it Hermes. I have a different version with the Ludlow SMG instead of zimmers and i swapped the nachtherie with the firemza parts. I call it Mercury.
I have a piledriver build and it was hard to get it to work because the hit box is wonky and lots of mechs will move out of the way. So you need a good way to set it up. I found the best way is to use the heavier reverse joint (spring chicken) and to jump in the air, use 2 songbirds and the lighter linear rifle to exhaust your opponents energy or stagger them and then assault boost to kick and then if it misses use the assualt armor and then go for the pile driver, repeat. I call it the Horus build. Took me a whole day to work this out but it was worth it.
I sincerely don't think AC6 is that difficult, at least not compared to the other Fromsoft games. I think the difficulty they put into the game is to force people to engage more with the on the fly AC costumization and I enjoy it very much. Because in old AC games I realy didnt have very diverse builds. I think you are not meant to beat any encounter with that one favourite AC and thats fine by me. because I did find all styles of AC equaly enjoyable, and there are plenty of missions where you can realy take anything and be fine. Its realy only in the bosses where you are required to do some customization and even then you are rarely locked into a Tank build for example, you can always get away at least with a quad everytime, and you are not locked into alight build ever eighter, ballanced bipedal also works just fine. I mostly played ballanced bipedal and I eventualy beat everything switching to quads or light every now and then. I only tend to avoid the tank builds but they are also fine and I had one setup just in case.
The quote I take most from this video is *"Every disk was something different."* Switching from an open world game like GTA V or Dark Souls and then manually putting in a disk for Little Big Planet or Ace Combat, you can FEEL what you are getting into. Something NEW. The golden age may have ended, but we are on our way to a bright one. That's all I can dream.
All of them were really unique worlds, and I still have my PS2 discs and sometimes find myself reminiscing on what they once were. Weirdly enough, the correlation in this video came from a game called Steambot Chronicles that I played at my cousin's house when we were kids. Something about that energy of being in this weird, homely world with gimmicky villains and fame-based hierarchy just kinda clicked in me when the merc groups had assigned numbers and stuff + the arena. Dreaming alongside you, friend.
I think AC6 is for the most part a reasonable level of hard. Some bosses like the third path (true final boss) can take a lot of tries, but it's a game that forces you to learn, and by the time you've cleared all paths you're probably good enough to beat all the previous bosses without much trouble. Consider for example facing Balteus for the first time vs facing upgraded endgame Balteus in NG+ The game's only issues are that some bosses like the sea spider and the cleaner feel very spongey in NG; and the fact that bosses can go out of bounds but you can't, but this kind of unfair advantage is something to be expected from any FromSoft game. (This is my opinion having played 1.0, not sure how the patches have altered the game experience) Sekiro was definitely a much harder game than AC6, demanding perfect guards and imposing a ranging disvantage on the player that you don't have in AC6, where you have enough mobility to define the flow of the battle yourself.
When you load AC6 mechs and bosses in say, Elden Ring, the sizes are all actually proportional. The mecha look like it easily would fit a couple tarnished inside comfortbly to pilot it. The buildings are sized as if the tarnished live in them even though you don't see humans in AC6, the scaling is there. Its actually amazing how big everything is and how great it works deapite being so big. The ice worm for instance, Zullie has a video where she ported the worm into the landa between, and it was so big it could easily be too large to freely roam around like it does in the ice fields and have space.
Im so happy 6's success has boosted armored core into the limelight. It doesnt even need go win GOTY, bc man. Theyve won. Armored Core is being talked about. As a longtime fan, it is surreal to see an AC game be the talk of the town.
Imma make this simple for anyone picking up armored core 6 :play till you beat the mission destroy the tester ac ,repeat all the missions including that one until you can buy one piece of everything in the parts shop for your AC that includes heads legs arms ect. Once you've done this mix and match parts and weapons till you feel you have what your comfortable with ,also do the arena challenges because they net you gear and points to upgrade your ac. Never be afraid to equip new parts at a mission check point the entire premise of the game is get better gear to crush your opponent. Alot of the bosses are cheap as hell . Look up guides on builds if you think yours isn't doing the trick and finally NEVER give up ,your a Raven and ravens don't quit soldier THEY FLY HIGH! HOORAH!
Good video man, i was very suprised when i looked at your sub count, love this game, looking forward for some of the other games dropping this year, what else are you looking forwards to?
I was at 387 when the video was posted :) so... for me, the sub count looks insane hahahah I'm looking forward to Lies of P! Made a video on the demo sometime ago, and definitely want to give it a shot when it's out. Currently have it pre-installed. Also really hoping the MGS3 remake is everything its cracked up to be, but to be honest? I'm not rich, I can't afford $60-70 new releases constantly and AC6 was my splurge. I plan to play a lot more older games, and am really looking forward to playing Mass Effect 2, finishing Hollow Knight, and I've been circling the day I finally start Dark Souls 1 for the last 4 months.
I gotta say dredge is such an amazing simple game that hits so many different feelings from pure relaxation to utter horror a great slow paced game to play alongside the frantic chaos of armored core 6
I’ve been hoping it sees a steeper sale than the usual 20-30% off, but I’ve been itching to play it. Looks right up my alley, trader sims are always fun and it looks much deeper than just that too, playing as a glorified hyper-violent caravan on Mount & Blade is great.
@iamiceTV Dredge is kinda similar to AC6... At first, it's jst another game that you kinda played alread, years ago. But then you starte reading all the tiny notes here and there, you pay close attention to the world building, you get better with the oh so simple looking game mechanics. And then you don't even realize the point at which the game has totally sucked you in and you stop playing, but start feeling the game... Yeah i love both games, each for their own reasons, nonetheless a must pay, oth of 'em P.S. GRIS and Disco Elysium. You seem to love games for being mor that just games, give these two a go if you can ;)
The first playthrough was painful. Each boss was a challenge requiring a particular build. However, at a certain point it just clicked, and went down. I dreaded my second playthrough a bit, but I had a fast build I liked (zimm, pulse blade, song birds and 6pack of missiles or a laser dagger depending on mob density, on a reverse joint). Then I had a double stun needle, double zimm on a combat wheelchair for when things got tough. I ended up taking out each boss in one or two attempts. The previously impossible challenges for my.light mech were eviscerated with ease, and I honestly felt like I had grown immensely from my first run. It felt incredible.
That happened to me. I brute forced the game till chapter 4 and hit a wall. Then I reworked my build and the strategy realized I was playing wrong and now I speed through all endings and S ranked 70% of the game and using different builds for fun
I am not a From software veteran but I played bloodborne about 4 years ago for the first time and I totally loved it. Now 90% of the games I play are classed as soulsborne. I 100% understand what you meant by “ you just haven’t found your style of game yet”. I feel like these games were made for me. And this is coming from someone who only played COD for like 3 years straight. From software saved gaming for me.
Elden Ring really put a charge in me, so I'm new to the party. And likewise, I was in the same boat though 2K instead of COD. I think I'd grown so numb to what games used to mean to me and that one shock reminded me of it, so now I ramble online :) Glad Bloodborne found you when it did, heres to a remaster? and more great games.
@@iamiceTV Bloodborne is on ps5 now and the graphics are amazing apparently. I’m still on ps4 but I would love Bloodborne 2 if one ever gets made. I’m looking forward to the Elden ring DLC as well but I am more than happy with AC6 atm it’s my favourite game since Elden ring.
Hey man just wanted to say thst was a fantastic video glad to see a logical and beautiful take on ac6 and gaming in general glad i watched it also loving armored core 6 Fromstoft hitting with another great experience
Very few dudes on this platform are aware of the importance of "learning" as a core aspect of gaming and fun in general. It's maddening that many people talk lots of garbage without having in mind something so crucial, so congratulations in that regard. The pursuit of covinience and standardization have been a big detriment to novelty and originality in the last three generations. Nowadays, it's increasingly rare to see big studios exploring new ideas, at least not as frequently as it was in the PS2 era.
PS2 has such a wide array of games offered it was incredibly weird, but weird doesn't mean bad. It's what made it so charming, having played GOW 2018 and only watched gameplay of the original GOW, it was much more thrilling watching the puzzle-solving, the set-pieces, and even the almost choreographed boss fights as it just seemed so focused on being a game, y'know? 2018 was fine, a good, sometimes great game but I can really only recollect like 5 or 6 moments only a month later.
Hard or not...game must produce fun. And this game was hell a lot of fun. I finished the game 100% and I had not a single moment of frustration, rage or boredom. All 70 hours were worth it. Actually I still want more from this game...I think I will just go another 3 playthroughs on japanese because I want to hear alternative voices and compare them to english ones.
Been playing this series since I got a cousin's old hand me down ps1 back in 2002 when they got their ps2. It came with AC1. I loved it even when the control scheme is something that took time to learn for my 6th grader brain. I congratulate all who fell in love with AC6 and are able to run this gem of a game~ Currently replaying ac3 silent line to celebrate ac6 being a banger. S ranking all missions is a genuine challenge~
You'll join us sometime, and in the meantime I'll have to join you, once I can get around to emulating the oldies. Thanks for sharing, always love a good story :)
armored core 6 is everything you could want in a mecha game. only thing it is missing is co-op but even then i don't really think a co-op mode is needed for this game. Even after finishing all 3 play throughs i still want more of this game. It has been so long since a game has made me want more of it after 100% completion.
Definitely want co-op, just seems tricky to balance though I wouldn't put it past an ambitious modder out there. Would've definitely preferred it to ship with co-op, but it is not needed for sure, still an absolute trip single-player.
For newer players, Balteus is a cakewalk with Pulse Guns. I did it first try (I was one hit away to be fair), but it tears through his shield like butter, go in with a blade, and a shotgun, and it will go smooth like chunky butter.
I love how ACs if they really did exist, could easily be weapons so beyond insane that one or two alone could turn the tide of an entire war. The pressence of just a few ACs would invalidate the pressence of ground troops almost emtirely. Its amazing how powerful they would really be and how quick they would devestate our military. I would even bet that ACs could make Metal Gears look like childs play.
This comment's the exact energy of Whimsy. AC's are definitely insane lmao, when you consider their scale the caliber of shells their guns shoot are probably proportionate to Atom Bombs. I'd bet they could devastate countries, not just a military. I truly wonder how the AC universe works, if corporations hold clusters of planets for their HQ and enterprises. As well, the scale of mobile fleets of space-faring civilians/colonies?? It's such a farcical setting but such a neat idea, I hope they expand on it in the future. Maybe even ulterior media like books/a show... might clash too much with Gundam though.
And thinking that before Armored Core was more difficult before. We add also Chrome Hound where not only the robot had AP also the weapons, so you could build a Tank, but with weak weapons AP, you will find yourself with no weapons during a fight.
Older AC games were harder in a longer-term sense (a few bad missions really made you struggle later on), while AC6 is harder moment-to-moment. I've noticed this as a trend for the last couple decades, since it's easier to ensure the player is always engaged with the game if the moment-to-moment experience is top notch, even if that means that there is less of a need to think long-term.
Is AC6 different than the other mainline series of the IP? yes, of course, but I'd also argue that FromSoft is only NOW realizing their vision of what they wanted to do with it.. Armored Core was always meant to be fast paced and visceral; they just didn't have the tech to realize their vision until now..
I'm so glad you noticed it hahahah, some fella on Reddit pointed me to some AC OSTs and I loved this one... thought it'd fit in that moment pretty well.
Beating Balteus for the first time took a lot of effort for me, it was not easy... but I could almost literally taste the flavor of VICTORY when I finally beat him. Not even Elden Ring had managed to give that feeling of desperately achieved victory I obtained by beating him for the first time. I really missed it. It was even sweeter knowing I didn't cheese the fight and just went with what worked for me at that time, which included the Pulse Blade as my primary source of both damage and tearing his pulse shield away each time. I did use the pulse gun as well, but swapping between that one and the melee on my shoulder required a decent amount of timing and skill that I don't think it was cheesy at all to use the "intended method to beat him" since it was still a slog and was still insanely challenging to do regardless. I'm loving this game, I'm using the Pulse Blade religiously now for my first playthrough's build up until I get the Moonlight melee weapon, and I can't wait to work towards all the Coral weapons afterwards. I've been saving my AC builds as I progress through the game to have a record of how my Starting AC developed over time, and It's exciting for me to go from Crater-00, to New Moon-01, all the way to my two Chapter 3 builds of Waning Moon-04a & Waning Moon-04b for my melee and ranged builds until I get new gear to play around with from beating another chapter.
What I did too! Kind of, I went full Nachtreheir, used a weapon bay'd laser blade + bubble gun, with the plasma rifle and 3 shot plasma launcher on my back! Personally I just swap between random stuff, but I love having the Pile Bunker usually in my weapon bay. Also based on your opening, definitely try Sekiro next! I think you'd love it
I loved this game, platinumed it, became omniscient, aaand gained depression cause there wasn't anything to do, I felt the void again. now videos keep the lie going a little longer, thank you
You've got a good 15 or so years worth of AC gaming to catch up on too! But never a bad deal to live vicariously through videos, hope you enjoy my words :)
Very thoughtful video, a proper response to all the unprompted hate and negativity surrounding this game. Thank you to the algorithm for showing me this video and thank YOU for making it. subbed!
Never played armored core before. First playthrough was hard. I often resorted to over sized and weaponed tank builds to get through a lot of bosses. By the second and third playthrough i was merking with super agile mosquito builds. Once you realize you gotta play aggressive, its not too hard actually.
I havnt played a mech game since early 2000s w/ Mech Warrior.. yeah I am old, but AC6 was an absolute blast.. loved all the endings.. I am so wanting more..
for me its been since the late 2000s with Steambot Chronicles on the PS2. What a game lol, Mechs have come very, very far. I’m looking forward to finally finishing the game once I clear up some room on my recording drive.
As an old armored core fan it is happy times for the community another armored core game is out it is beautiful At the same time they've changed so much about what I loved about the game I can't really enjoy it anymore .... They changed how it plays so much and I don't like that and now I fear what I loved about the old games is never going to have its chance to shine
I can understand that, trust me I felt like I lost everything I loved about KH2 when KH3 rolled about. It didn't feel the same, and I didn't enjoy it nearly as much, but there's also the satisfaction that it still exists and people are discovering and potentially engaging with what stuck out to me, and I love seeing the occasional KH2 nod here and there. So if it's any solace, I do plan to check out AC2 and AC3, another twinkling diamond like AC6 can always pull the eye to find a couple others surrounding it. Also who knows, maybe they'll do remasters following this one's success?
@@iamiceTV at this rate I would just be happy if they would just do some PC ports literally that's all I'm asking for RN if you're going to play through armored core 3 make sure to play the expansions silent line is really good and despite what other people say I really like Nexus and last Raven is the collimation of the whole entire PS2 games for the series it's pretty good
Aside from IB-01 in my first playthrough I’ve been kinda no diffing the whole game. I’m almost done with new game plus and I 2 tried IB-01 this time around.
Bigger, they don't mention the caliber in game but I think the barrel definitely looks wider than a beach ball Maybe get a screenshot of you shooting a grenade at a helicopter for scale?
I think I saw the same video hahaha that looked insane. It'd be cool as hell if someone made chairs with functional (and sync-able) haptics then throw in the flight sticks! Really put you in the pilot seat lmao
I was nodding along with everything you were saying but then you praise KH 2 out of nowhere, that gets a sub Then the gaming isn't dead, with Capcom as the perfect example. Looking forward to seeing more of your opinions. And if you liked Duelist of the Roses, have you tried Forbidden Memories on Ps1? The weird fusion system came from there
One day, when I'm better at editing, have more equipment/software and stuff, KH2 will get at least an hour long video out of me. Even to this day, I doubt there's any game I've played that rivals the amount of time kid me put into that game. Maybe Fallout: New Vegas, maybe. AND man, Capcom!!! I've seen people ruing gaming over Starfield & now Payday 3, again articulating the 'gaming is dead' thing. I hate MTX, and live service games, but to blanket ALL of gaming being dead over what is almost entirely a Western AAA developer trend... its just confusing, and feels diminutive and in my eyes doesn't really help educate, or inform anyone, though I guess it's entertaining to watch people fume. Angry Joe's amazing. Will look into it, need to snag a PS emulator at some point for first gen Armored Core anyways... Also, there's been swirling rumors of an Onimusha revival over at Capcom. It's getting an Anime through Netflix and people are *assuming* it might be followed by another remake. Would be exciting, definitely need to play that one because the OST is truly something else. Thanks for the kind words, hope to see ya around on a future video :)
I agree wholeheartedly beside with 1 thing: It was not PS2 where everyone experimented. It was SNES and PS1. These consoles revolutionized every genre that existed (beside RTS which happened on PC a bit later). PS2 was the "perfection" phase.
I had a lot of fun fighting balteus I think he was just the right amount of hard personally I beat him with a lightweight melee build so maybe that's why
Thanks dude I really appreciate your video on this topic I'm convinced now to get ac6 I have all of fromsoft recent games and I love the challenge they represent most honest opinion I've heard so far peace dude be safe in this crazy world 🔫🛡⚔🏹stay 💪
game has issues
I'd like to see you try your lightweight build with these encounters:
Spider
Intercept the Redguns
Cell
final boss
new game + Redguns encounter
.
.
.
and go and try your lightweight build in other souls games and see the difference
Will do, I'll be back when I finish it.
Did already do C-Spider
"other souls games"
For a re-entry point into the series, i found this to be a very good building block for future dlc or games. Love this game so much as a older AC fan.
Same
When I think of Sekiro I first think of the hard sound of swords clashing and that twang when parrying, god I love that game so much, it’s literally my favorite game ever made.
@@iamiceTVwhich Mount & Blade do you recommend? I have never played any title in the series
@@iamiceTV wow that's a massive difference in size
*BEEP* *BEEP*
Fromsoft has taken "Nothing worth doing is ever easy" and made it their motto, slogan, and entire design philosophy all at the same time.
This is a very good thing
The best part is the slow mo when you beat a boss. I always go for close quarters combat with the pile driver or pile bunker (forgot the name) and it looks and feels so awesome when the enemy mech just slow mo explodes.
Exactly my sentiment, the explosions look amazing in this game, even with the fodder MTs sometimes they'll seize up, twitch and then explode. It really feels like 3D Gundam
@@iamiceTV lets be honest, its the gundam game we all wanted lol
@@secar6529 I wish they had a shameless Barbatos set, but I can live with feeling like my own Gundam pilot at least hahah, it's got a little Gurren Laggan to it too!
PILEBUNKER!!!!
I wish more MTs and bosses had death cries. They're always satisfying. I know I have issues. :3
This is probably the most articulate and comprehensive evaluation of AC6 and modern gaming in general that I have ever heard. Well done and subbed.
Some of the best entry points into the older generations.
do pure melee with a single big fucking gun
Hard but Fair games are always a welcome. The experience you get for them are unforgettable.
some of the greatest and most timeless games followed that idea, like metal slug
Absolutely new to Armored Core, would love to know what might be the most essential to emulate :)
commenting to see the answer to this
@@iamiceTV Not having a wide expanse to the parts list is quite forgivable since the goal should be to get the attention of the mainstream first, then start sprinkling more content after they have secured themselves more financially.
Just found you, and this is great content. Instantly subbed.
Thank you dawg, hope you enjoy da ride, plenty more to come!
I had that same moment when I realized the small flying drones were actually grown ass helicopters. It also makes you wtf the absolutely giant helicopter tutorial boss.
Just everything, how is this shit so big, like the roads in Grid 086?? What??? Blew my mind, that sense of scale is just crazy once you notice it
The moment i really fell in love with the game was when i unlocked the pile buner- and learned how to make it work. It feels so good- the sound design, the damage, the visuals, go above and beyond for me!
I really hope this makes the big devs consider making a game that's actually finished
Ice.. just from the cadence of your speech, the tastefully paced and well placed editing...
Excellent video, you especially nailed it for me when talking about finding the types of games we each like, AC6 finally made my type of game clear to me
Thanks for this take, a lot of people miss when they talk about Fromsoft games and difficulty, but like you said "Shed your Pride, engage in something new; It's hard but I've never done this before: why would it be easy?"
Altho for long time fans of AC games, they have (seen this before), more or less similar gameplay before and it does DEFINITELY (mainly from a knowledge perspective) make it a lot easier. I imagine its a prettty steep learning curve for complete newbies to mech games.
agreed, one of the first things i thought of when playing was how much of "a PS2 game" it felt like
No fluff, all action. All your downtime is simply spent tinkering, and I cut out an entire section talking about the customization... for such a 'simple' format it feels incredibly deep.
the funny part is someone use it as an insult in steam review lmao....like that was the best part duh.
Yea this is armored core 1-3 combined with modern time tech. I need more and they should’ve let us get at least the helmets of the HAL SOL both ayre and iguazu version .
@@michaeldeleon8970 Eh, there's clear inspiration from 4 and 5 as well. It's a little bit of everything.
Dumb question. Why is this game regarded as a "PS 2" game? The graphics? Maybe the mission structure? The fact that it actually works and is playable?
I felt betrayed by AC5 when they literally clipped our wings, but AC6 has been an absolute masterpiece. I loved struggling for hours on my first playthrough with the hardest bosses I’ve faced in video games and the most basic equipment I had to work with.
Very spot on commentary, gamers in actuality are similar to lions in a zoo, complacent and comfortably slacking and getting spoon fed entertainment without need to apply any effort! Luckily we still have people who actually understand this! Great video!
People will come around, we all want to, just a matter of being shown sometimes! Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed pardna
Amazing video, i watched it 3 times in row, you encapsulated everything i was thinking about AC6 and modern gaming.
Great work and i'm subbed
11:45 watching at 1.5x and then hearing this gave me goosebumps!
*That! That right there, 1000%*
Ran it back just to hear my voice in 1.5x, interesting hahahah
Glad it spoke to you, I was on a Sean Schemmel binge while I was writing so it felt like the best way to get the point across
Also, picking the right dialogue option in a CRPG can be nerve-wracking hahah
But yeah definitely floors me, especially because the dialogue takes all of 90 seconds at most?
Meta builds can trivialize some fights but they aren't necessary to make some fights easy.
Needles and zimies is de way.
Nah, meta abuse is boring, thoughtless and lame. Having a youtuber make your build for you instead of putting your own thought and consideration is an L
You don't even need meta builds as long as you make a build that can reliably put the boss or bosses for a level in stagger and have something to cash out on damage.
Then just choose the pulse that works
Which is usually assault but others can have value.
Then you just need enough ammo to clear a mission like the Michigan mission
I haven't had this much playing a game in years. I loved getting worked over for an hour and then winning.
How do you only have 742 subs. I was halfway thru and was like “this is brilliant”
Subbed.
I'm glad I gave off that impression dawg, only been around for 7 months. Much more to come :)
You are being blessed by the algorithm.... and your timely addition of this game to your reviews. I also liked your optimus prime cameo around the 3:40 mark.
Thanks again for the cool video.
Well I'm definitely a fan now this is my very first Armored Core I will be looking forward to more entries.
Seems like a thoughtful fella
I appreciate the compliment!
This game is easy, people are just not thinking about why they are losing or unwilling to change
This is a nice video. I usually hate this kind of content but you do a really good job with it
I sincerely don't think AC6 is that difficult, at least not compared to the other Fromsoft games.
Beautiful video my friend. Im about to go finish those s ranks
Quality content.
I appreciate that you understand why Armored Core is hard.
See you around Raven.
Yooo this video is excellent that it makes me a subscriber. Keep the good job and passion my guy.
The quote I take most from this video is *"Every disk was something different."*
Switching from an open world game like GTA V or Dark Souls and then manually putting in a disk for Little Big Planet or Ace Combat, you can FEEL what you are getting into.
Bro just dropped the best philosophical gaming video I've seen and I love it
I think AC6 is for the most part a reasonable level of hard. Some bosses like the third path (true final boss) can take a lot of tries, but it's a game that forces you to learn, and by the time you've cleared all paths you're probably good enough to beat all the previous bosses without much trouble.
Consider for example facing Balteus for the first time vs facing upgraded endgame Balteus in NG+
The game's only issues are that some bosses like the sea spider and the cleaner feel very spongey in NG; and the fact that bosses can go out of bounds but you can't, but this kind of unfair advantage is something to be expected from any FromSoft game. (This is my opinion having played 1.0, not sure how the patches have altered the game experience)
Sekiro was definitely a much harder game than AC6, demanding perfect guards and imposing a ranging disvantage on the player that you don't have in AC6, where you have enough mobility to define the flow of the battle yourself.
Also agree with what you said about idle hands, your hands will cramp learning to pilot an AC against some of the boases
I was at 387 when the video was posted :) so... for me, the sub count looks insane hahahah
I'm looking forward to Lies of P!
You just said everything on my mind, line after line for 14 minutes straight. Absolute, hard spoken facts.
Yeah i love both games, each for their own reasons, nonetheless a must pay, oth of 'em
Supergiant studios is awesome, for sure. Dead cells is so much fun, noita is a great experience too. Loved this video
This is the most accurate and best take on ac6 I’ve ever heard
my only issue is that there isn't more of it.
more missions, more parts, more game.
(also some weapons are just a bit too powerful)
I am not a From software veteran but I played bloodborne about 4 years ago for the first time and I totally loved it. Now 90% of the games I play are classed as soulsborne. I 100% understand what you meant by “ you just haven’t found your style of game yet”. I feel like these games were made for me. And this is coming from someone who only played COD for like 3 years straight. From software saved gaming for me.
Elden Ring really put a charge in me, so I'm new to the party. And likewise, I was in the same boat though 2K instead of COD. I think I'd grown so numb to what games used to mean to me and that one shock reminded me of it, so now I ramble online :)
Glad Bloodborne found you when it did, heres to a remaster? and more great games.
How the hell are people having this much trouble! I has a little trial and error sure, but nothing brick walled me.
Yea the game ends so fast, even get all missions unlocked
Bro when you started playing Remember. I started vibing heavily. 😂
Great video 👍
Ac6 isnt hard, it demands you pay attention and try. Its wonderful.
I didn't even know I wanted this. But now I want more... I'll be crossing my fingers for AC7
Loved the video, glad RUclips sent me your way.
Glad RUclips sent ya here too dawg
For newer players, Balteus is a cakewalk with Pulse Guns. I did it first try (I was one hit away to be fair), but it tears through his shield like butter, go in with a blade, and a shotgun, and it will go smooth like chunky butter.
Yeah me bosses just need a good build to beat easy. Balteus is a lot easier when you can break it's shield fast
This isn’t a review this is poetry.
I've played this through for all 3 endings and I never knew those little guys were helicopters! 😂 How did I miss that!?
Id love to see a follow up video after you beat the game. And how your perspectives or opinions may have changed. If at all.
Can't tell you when, but can say it'll definitely get another video (or two). That'll be when I do my formal review, a 'Why you SHOULD Play'.
People somehow always forget what kind of games Fromsoftware makes.
This video peaked as soon as "Remember" started playing.
Kind of,
I went full Nachtreheir, used a weapon bay'd laser blade + bubble gun, with the plasma rifle and 3 shot plasma launcher on my back!
Personally I just swap between random stuff, but I love having the Pile Bunker usually in my weapon bay.
Also based on your opening, definitely try Sekiro next! I think you'd love it
Awesome passionate video. I feel the same way about this game. I got all three endings and I’m still playing it cause it’s just too good.
You deserve more veiws and subs bro ,this was great
we gon get it one day, I appreciate it and I appreciate you :)
I loved this game, platinumed it, became omniscient, aaand gained depression cause there wasn't anything to do, I felt the void again. now videos keep the lie going a little longer, thank you
You've got a good 15 or so years worth of AC gaming to catch up on too! But never a bad deal to live vicariously through videos, hope you enjoy my words :)
ooh, wait your right. my computer trashy though, so at best I could play up to ac3 but still, that is way more hours, thank you good sir@@iamiceTV
Lies of P is right around the corner so you're good
"Is this what we want?"
Yes.
What a great video!! Love the takes ❤ earned my sub
Great vid, my friend!
Thank you Franky! Hope you're well :)
As an old armored core fan it is happy times for the community another armored core game is out it is beautiful
At the same time they've changed so much about what I loved about the game I can't really enjoy it anymore ....
So I have a question are grenade launcher is shooting grenades the size of Beach Bowls cars how big are grenades
Bigger, they don't mention the caliber in game but I think the barrel definitely looks wider than a beach ball
Maybe get a screenshot of you shooting a grenade at a helicopter for scale?
Kb+m kicks ass 👍 saw a dude on reddit who was able to set up double flight sticks for controllers
I think I saw the same video hahaha that looked insane. It'd be cool as hell if someone made chairs with functional (and sync-able) haptics then throw in the flight sticks! Really put you in the pilot seat lmao
I was nodding along with everything you were saying but then you praise KH 2 out of nowhere, that gets a sub
Then the gaming isn't dead, with Capcom as the perfect example.
I agree wholeheartedly beside with 1 thing:
It was not PS2 where everyone experimented.
It was SNES and PS1. These consoles revolutionized every genre that existed (beside RTS which happened on PC a bit later).
PS2 was the "perfection" phase.
This guy understands what Armored Core is. 🙂
The only thing it needs now is some proper pvp balance
Great video - subbed.
I had a lot of fun fighting balteus I think he was just the right amount of hard personally
I beat him with a lightweight melee build so maybe that's why
Thanks dude I really appreciate your video on this topic I'm convinced now to get ac6 I have all of fromsoft recent games and I love the challenge they represent most honest opinion I've heard so far peace dude be safe in this crazy world 🔫🛡⚔🏹stay 💪
I hope you love it dawg
