  • A detailed comparison of the loveliest editions of Kay Nielsen's illustrations of the East of the Sun, West of the Moon ((Click more for links to the books) - one by the Folio Society (a lovely facsimile of the original classic) and one by Taschen (a beautifully redesigned and oversized feast of beautiful images).

►Taschen's edition is available new, although the later editions ditched the fiddly paper slipcase (seriously - buy it today - it's absolutely stunning and you will not regret it): tidd.ly/22156861
►The Folio Society edition is out of print, but you can usually find copies second hand without too much trouble - just have patience and wait for a reasonably priced one to surface: bit.ly/FSEastWest
►Although I didn't have it to show in the video, the Calla Editions book is very similar to the FS edition - it's cloth bound and the image reproductions are very marginally less sharp, but it's still available new and may be more affordable, depending where you live: tidd.ly/834d848f

this video is an enormous pubic service for both the publishers & we consumers. as in other comments, one wants both books here, with this fair and faithful presentation and writeup, praising both works for their intrinsic advantages. thank you so much for this video! (when i get a chance, i will look at all of your videos!)

Oh, I really appreciate this side by side comparison video! I have had the Taschen edition for a few years now, but it's increasingly been gnawing at me if I should get the Folio version as well, the binding design is just so beautiful. I'm very glad to see a new video from you, they are always so inspiring and well made. :)

Are you familiar with the Calla Editions version? It's comparable to the Folio Society version but is undoubtedly less expensive.

I just bought the Taschen edition and it didn't come with a slipcase. The book was factory shrinkwrapped without a slipcase. Perpahs they got rid of it in recent printings due to its flimsiness? Or perhaps it was an exclusive for ordering from somewhere?

Anyways since when did you start reading books? I started reading books at 4 or 5 years old because my mom would always read me children's stories
