I personally prefer a more introverted life. There's too much "noise" and unwelcome current news and events. Not that I'm totally oblivious to what's going on in the world, I just prefer to surround myself with peace and nature and the things that bring me joy and hope. Guess as I've gotten older I've become more picky about who and what I allow in my space. You are such a strong and wise young woman and the path you lead is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing it.

I go to my favorite coffee shop almost every day. Since my only child, Josh passed away in 2014, it has filled a certain void. I can share stories with younger employees, encourage them to pursue their dreams, and provide helpful books, and treats. This has allowed me to become a "Grandpa" in a manner that nature didn't provide. Many young people didn't grow up with much adult support and can still benefit from the knowledge you can convey to them. (And they can tell you what's wrong with your computer. Usually the operator!)

It is such a beautiful tribute to your son to help other young people. Thank you for choosing to do something so helpful. As a person who benefited greatly from 'grandpa & grandma figures' growing up, I know what a blessing you must be to so many.

What a wonderful thing to "grandpa" to those that may have missed out on having one. A supportive grandparent, by blood or of the heart, can give them such a gift in a way. And in turn they will pass on the knowledge and caring when they maybe become a grandparent. A wonderful circle.

Every time I return a book to my local library, I always place a small slip of paper inside that I've painted with a flower (or the sorts) and written a little happy message. On the few occasions I have found something like this in a book, I feel a little rush of happiness and connection with another soul who must be similar to mine. Thank you Paola

I forgot to put an explanation in the video put at 8:40 I answered a couple more questions that pop up fairly often ❤️ also, labels to describe ones personality can be helpful, but of course always fail to encompass the person as a whole. They are limited, but I use them to attempt to share a little about myself. Thank you everyone! I hope you are all doing well and taking care of yourselves. Sending a big hug.
(Also, just to remind anyone that does not relate to my story, everyone is unique and I am not speaking for all people who consider themselves quiet, social, or anything else. This is just my own thoughts and experience. Best wishes.)

There’s not really a discrepancy between living an introverted life and sharing segments of your lifestyle via beautiful videos. You are alone (or mostly alone) while filming. Planning and editing videos provides a source of income but also serves as your personal artistic expression, a way to inspire others and give back to the world without disrupting the need for a quiet, nature-filled life. Thank you for inviting us to share a glimpse!

I was born in 1965, an introvert. Life was really different for us before the internet. We were often overlooked, treated as tho we were odd, or worse yet, considered people who needed to be fixed. Take a magazine quiz and read the attached article to help us 'overcome' our shyness. Weird murder case on the news? The perp was usually described as 'a loner with few friends', and the rest of us would be stared at by coworkers and neighbors for a few weeks after the news coverage. There used to be self help groups for shy people to meet, but they were mostly doomed to fail for obvious reasons, hahaha.
Thanks to the web, introverts are able to interact with others at a distance and share ourselves in our comfort zones. Plus we are able to see other introverts! O joy! There are so many of us, and we're normal! We don't eat people or dress our cats up for tea parties. Speaking of cats, that kitty has some fast paws.

As an introvert, I completely understand what you are saying. I have been taking care of my mother for the past few years which many would find to be a great burden. Instead, I appreciate the quietness, the solitary life, the daily attention to home and garden, and the necessary avoidance of social occasions. I build strength in solitude as do other introverts, and gratefully, I have the company of my son when I need companionship. Unfortunately, we live in a society where we feel we must apologize or awkwardly try to explain our natural temperament. I'm through with all that! Seek your happiness in the way that is right for you!

I love watching these videos. Take care & God bless. ❤

My Annishinabe Ojibwe "uncle" shared with me his thoughts on spiders years ago when I also had a week where 2 very large spiders made their way onto my body. Thankfully I wasn't bitten, but it freaked me out as I really didn't like spiders. So he shared with me the story of Grandmother Spider and her gift to the people of Dream Catchers which were patterned after her beautiful and Creative web. When she comes to us and gets so close, she is reminding us that we are creative beings and all we weave is connected to everything and everyone else. Often times her messages are to ask us what part of our life needs more creativity...or how are we affecting others. He told me that if she actually bites you...that means the message is really strong and you had been ignoring her more subtle messages. And when I prayed on it I did find areas of my life which needed more creativity...and not the areas you would usually think of as "creative" or artsy and I was thankful to start re-thinking them. So now whenever I see a spider I pause and reflect and honestly I can't remember the last time I was bitten...and like you I live remotely and in the mountains on a ranch...so spiders abound. I also invested in a Spider Catcher and when I find them in my house I make every effort to catch and release out doors. Thanks for all you share. :)

I couldn't see the spider bite but I can only imagine how horrifying that thought is. I got bit by a black widow on my leg once and the fact that I was asleep and spider bit me. Gives me the shivers.
Also as someone who was VERY quiet and reserved as a child, I used to get told in middle school and high school that I was a snob. It crushed me because I would have liked nothing more than to be outgoing and know what to say and when to say it, but I didn't. So then I was judged for being more reserved. Now that I am a middled aged woman, I have learned that I don't care as much about what others think and I surround myself with people that I love and in turn I am not as quiet. I love that you addressed being a quiet person but still filling your bucket with social things. Thank you for your lovely content, it always makes my day.

Thanks for your insight Paola. I'm a "quiet person" or used to be quiet for the first 26 years of my life. I don't really hear anyone referring to themselves as quiet or at least admitting to it. I think a lot of people have assumptions, judgements and negativity towards quiet people--at least that's been my personal life experience and I know that's not everyone's experience. Most people don't understand why people are "quiet" and there can be many reasons why. As an adult, I've even asked a few acquaintances what they think of quiet people and it wasn't favorable.
I personally think quiet people are unique and have a lot to say but they wait for people who they feel comfortable with and worthy of their energy before before they speak.
Writing is my way of communicating or connecting with folks or I just speak. I'm still learning to verbally communicate better and better each day even at my age. 😊

But, because staying at home with almost no social interactions was very hard for me, I joined the book club of my library. Every first Saturday of the month, we talk about new book releases, or books written by an author, books with a similar theme, etc... I am definitely the youngest, all the other participants are lovely old ladies and I think, my favorite part is when each one of us is sharing about a book we have read during the month. Because we don't have the same taste in books, sometimes, it allows us to discover new authors. Even if I am starting to take care or my mental health since spring and that I am seeing friends again, I still enjoy visiting the book club every month

Thank you for sharing your story with us. I have found that I am a "Highly Sensitive Person (HSP", a term coined by Elaine Aron). Elaine Aron's book on the subject changed my life. I was finally able to understand why I felt so different from everyone else and the difference, I found, was not because I was doing something wrong. I highly recommend her book as well as Ilse Sand's book "Highly Sensitive People". Us HSP's need to stick together.

Hello! As an introvert, a simple way I make human connection is to to look another person square in the eye (which at times can feel painful and really uncomfortable!) and smile warmly and genuinely. Listening deeply is one of my greatest strengths and requires no words on my part... offering a gentle touch on the arm or shoulder of the person who is sharing also helps me feel connected. Often, simply being AMONG people and quietly observing satisfies my need for socialization. Others may not get it, but I am hugely self content and do not need active dialogue to feel included. Most times my inclination is to bolt from interaction, preferring the gentle rhythm of solitude, but being aware of my breath in the moment and feeling my feet planted firmly on the earth helps me stay grounded and not get overwhelmed with another's energy, as I am highly empathic in addition to being introverted!

Oh Paola, if I only had your wisdom and maturity when I was your age. I am an introvert who enjoys a small circle of friends and often needs time alone. I was a teacher for forty-five years until retiring two years ago. At the time, I am not sure why I chose teaching, but upon reflection, given my personality, it turned out to be a poor decision. For forty-five years I wore a ‘social mask’ and in short, I did not live as my true self.
I had a reasonably successful career though not being my true self for all these years. This ultimately came at a significant cost to both my physical and mental health, and to my family. It was an insidious situation because the damage silently kept accumulating. I am now living a very different, quiet and simple life in the mountains. As a result, I have much to thank you for. I came across your videos some time ago and thanks to your courage in going on-line, you have supplied me with many ideas that I have now incorporated into my life. You are on the right track, and I can only hope you are able to keep producing this wonderful resource you have started. God bless.

Paola! Haven't commented in a while, but you might find this useful. As a biologist, one of my favorite things is animal migration. Your spider encounters may be due to hanggliding arachnids! A number of smaller species move about over distance by producing a filament of web, unfixed to structure. As this parachute lengthens it floats to the degree that the spider can jump free. Instant flight to where ever the breeze takes it. They're pretty small, and can be fairly unobtrusive. Should they land on a large organic resting place, defense mechanisms kick in...a bite results. Who would have thought! The beauty and strangeness of nature.

Your baking, painting, gardening, writing, filming, and speaking are things that very, very few people have the time or privilege to enjoy, and would make most of us WANT the life of an introvert.. Thank you for sharing it with us! Oh, and I agree wholeheartedly with your explanation of being an introvert but still sharing your life via the internet. You framed it perfectly by saying that while you like your own quiet time, you still like the connection that internet allows. Naturally introverted, introspective, and anxious when around too much hustle and bustle I can become emotionally, mentally, and physically exhausted. Even more so, spiritually my light will begin to dim and I literally become drained. Balancing time with others and being "on", with time to recharge is something I am learning. I do purposeful practices of going to town, spending time with others, and giving back, with days of quiet purposeful activities for myself. Having multiple medical challenges I can easily get lost in the comfortability of being alone. It is important that when I connect with others I push my inner-self to meet their gaze with soft eyes and an easy smile. Bringing a small positive moment to their day. This helps me for being vulnerable to others diminishes the negative noise that all people are bad and scary that come from multiple directions today. This is a personal process that works for me. 🙏🧘‍♀️
Paola, you have inspired me to try a different genre of interaction with people using my talents to make a difference. So scary!
    Thank You & Blessings, 🙏😀

My cousin reminded me that while she had multiple movie idols, as a preteen, I was absorbed with Ralph Nader. We are who we are and it just takes too much energy to attempt anything else. I've always thought of myself as an introverted person (which my children laugh at), because while I do enjoy social contact, I enjoy it most with my close circle of friends and family and in small doses. I drive for Uber in my town and the surrounding area--not a huge city, but a busy one. I enjoy interacting with my riders, which gives me little snippets of conversation and the ability to help people in a small way. I always try to leave them with a smile, and that is often reciprocated. And then I come home from many miles, and it's great to see when you have a new video up, because it is always calming, interesting, and gently, deeply philosophical. And I've enjoyed receiving and sharing some of the items purchased from your etsy shop, especially the last package which held some surprising and beautiful dried flowers in the wonderful packaging. I am a definite extrovert and that is why being a stay at home mom has been such a challenge. I had to learn how to reach out to others in creative ways. Marco Polo saved me through Covid. I like being able to check in with friends throughout the day on my time. I also love smiling at others, talking to people at the grocery store and trying to look how to help those struggling.
However as I’ve grown and my children have grown I’ve found I’ve needed more time alone. Maybe I’m changing into a bit of an introvert? 😄 During the afternoons I like to slow down and watch your channel. It reminds me to look at things differently and to be mindful when it is so easy to be swallowed in the chaos of raising a family. It also reminds me to take time for my heart even when I’m convinced I don’t have time. Thank you for reminding me of how to slow down and see the beauty. I might not be in a beautiful forest valley but I find beauty in brushing my little girl’s hair, or giving my baby a bath, or making my girls’ cookies in the kitchen. Thank you for showing me how to appreciate these little things again.

I too, often wondered if there was something wrong in this until I had a conversation with my best friend (since second grade) and she said the same. I too, am an introvert that needs time to herself. Developing a rich, vibrant and imaginative interior world is an introvert’s superpower. And depending on her or his inclination that world can be shared, in a discerning way with other’s in ways that feel right and sustainable. I feel the way you share your world and insights is so powerful in affirming others that are introverted and can encourage their own ”way of being” in the world. Sending you much love!

@@anireseegam6128 Hi, At present, shipping world wide is very difficult, (due to Corona impacts on economy’s, (loss of staff, fuel prices soaring, truckies walking away from their business, especially in the United States due to long turn around times at wharfs.) Also geo political issues are creating hold up in areas usually free to move cargo between. Cargo sits for months unloaded, truckies can’t sit wait and waste time, days, weeks, months to unload. They have runs that their could be servicing in their country, but now they cannot access the goods as they cannot be unloaded. Often ships, (red tape, port congestion, unloaded containers sitting and blocking dock sites on the wharves.) Simply cannot get in to unload and so sit for weeks, months out in harbour. (Some countries have discouraged or even halted international shipping as it’s too hard.) All these combined issues have pushed ships per square foot shipping prices to a premium. Upwards of thousands of dollars per square metre. A small business still has to pay their share of that new inflated price for their shipping. Factured into this price is insurance on these goods, each small business is considered as owning their section of the space their goods take up in that container ship. So in effect each time a ship sails each business owner is responsible for the delivery of not only their goods for safe delivery but also all other business owners also taking up space in that cargo ship. It’s simply to expensive, the risk of undelivered goods is too high now. The need them to replace and reship items or refund monies has made it untenable for many small businesses to ship at this time. So they only post within their own borders. It won’t last but it’s a part of our current worldwide shipping situation. I know this is very involved but it is worth understanding!

My photography has evolved over the years, and currently I am getting lost in macro photography. There are things in nature that we pass by without a passing thought. Having "ventured" out into different styles, techniques (shooting and developing black & white); I currently shoot the smallest of the small that none of us even think about--the tiny, complex flower growing on the path, frost patterns on twigs, the luminescent beauty and patterns in a bird's feather. Your garden is growing and so is Kitten! I love your channel!!👍👩‍🌾💖😎

I recently came across the original definition of introverts, introduced by Carl Jung. He stated that introvertion and extrovertion does not relate to how one behaves or finds joys, but how one replenish energy. We introverts replenish energy staying with ourselves. I've found being alone grounds me and keeps me at balance, since I have a very socially intensive job (film industry). You don't have to explain yourself, it's never one or the other. I don't find it contradictory, I find it fascinating and healthy. Everyone here, dedicate some time to yourselves, your food and your plants 💜

That’s interesting because I believe I’m both an extrovert and an introvert, sometimes replenishing with people and other times happily alone. I’ve never come across that quote by Jung but do like it. Thank you for sharing. 😊

I had often wondered why I feel such joy and exhilaration when I'm out in nature and beholding all of the beauty around me and enjoying the quiet. I came across something that gave me the answer. The whole earth is full of His glory. It's the glory of God that is being displayed and God is inviting all of us to come to know Him and enjoy Him forever.

    Hi Paola
When I retired from teaching 2 years ago, I needed social interaction still after finding myself on my own each day, which was so strange after a long busy career. I volunteer twice a week now in different places which has proved to be a blessing to me as well as, hopefully others, I've joined an art/craft group and really made an effort to make new friends. I still have my own time though which gives me some peace and quiet. Have a good week. Sue x

I bake cookies and sweet squares and pass them out to delivery folks, homeless folks, the postal person, neighbours, store clerks…everyone just as a way of sweetening their day a tiny bit. That’s plenty of pleasant interaction for me and I know that it creates a moment of smiles for others. Thank you so much for your beautiful channel. You create a sweet moment for me. 🥰

"There are many ways to practise love."
Those words are so hope-watering ... Thank you, Paola!
We have many contrasts and contradictions inside of us.
Just because you live quietly and have the need to be alone, doesn't automatically exlude another need! ... We are complex beings.
I often dream about being a hermit and at the same time I have the need to push myself to do social activities, because I know it is healthy for me.
One way for me to feel connected is to leave anonymous gifts for people here and there.
Take care and good luck with all your projects!! (I'm also going to preorder yoru book!)

Oh Paola , every time I watch a video of yours it becomes “my favorite”. I can’t tell you how seen I feel in your videos. My soul comes alive in knowing “my people” like yourself exist and thrive 🥰 You mentioned a condition you have, no need to share if it’s too personal, I’m just curious as I too do as well and felt so seen in how you expressed living with yours 🫶 Would love to hear more about how you do and maintain your soul life around it? Sending SO much love!! You’re such a gem sweet soul 💕🧚‍♂️

I just quit my job as I felt it forced me unnecessarily to go against my own normal quiet introverted personality. It was making me sick, AGAIN. I need to do fulfilling work that nourishes me. Also it was so beautiful watching you carefully pick the rose petals and leave the hip so that it can naturally go to seed for the rose plant.

I love that I can always count on your video's to bring me something. Whether it's just quiet reflection, or food for thought... it always helps me a little during my day.
I've been having a bit of a rough time. I miss being outdoors and the city that I'm in has some places but not enough. There's always people... and when I'm alone I'm not always in the mood for other people so I stay in but it's rather dark and I have little energy to entertain myself. My partner has a hard time going out in the summer so we walk less together (because he wears binders and tape for his dysforia... So I understand but also feel a little sorry for myself at times when I have to miss his company haha)
So I'm in this cycle. I know I need to go outside, but I really don't wanna see people, so I stay in and my energy drops even more. As an teacher I get al the social energy I need from my work so right now it's really hard to find that balance and break the cycle I'm in.
I think watching video's like yours in that way is my way of connecting to like-minded people who feel the same way. In that way I feel that needed alone-time and yet I'm connecting a little bit with nature and with you and the other viewers. Somehow that idea gives me a bit of like minded energy to do break the cycle and get my ass outside.

I totally ❤️❤️❤️❤️ the message in this video.
We all have our own unique language of connection for sure. Not all of us do it so beautifully, eloquently and bravely as you do.
I so love watching your videos.❤️ They always bring calm to the storm that I may have going on inside me and at the very least, I always feel more connected to nature or inspired to bake or create something because your videos depict so succinctly the beauty of nature and the joy in the simplicities of life.
I always look forward to seeing a new video message from you.
Your messages always inspire and provide comfort.
I wish I could paint flowers like you do. Did you teach yourself, or always have a bit of a natural flair?
Please continue with your unique style of connecting with people. Your messages and videos are a true blessing to those of us that watch them 🙏❤️🙌❤️

Your pansies turned out so beautiful! And everything you said resonated with me, as I, too, tend to be a bit more socially reserved.
It's so nice to hear and see how you balance your authentic introvertedness with the need for social connections.
You asked us to share how we manage our own needs in that department. I have a job that I love, driving people to medical appointments and to run various errands. It fills my need to be useful, helpful, and connected to the world outside myself, while still preserving my autonomy and inner sanctuary of space.

This gives me more confidence because I am introverted and have hardly any real, true friends. I tend to make friends with the wrong people out of just pushing myself, appearing to be sociable. I tend to feel as if I am weird because I can't make good friends, even if I enjoy my own company most of the time. I do however, think that socializing is good, with the right people from time to time. Not through a screen, but face to face interaction.
