How long did it take to make this? It's amazing but would this be cost efficiant at the moment? I mean it's very little "gameplay" in an beautiful enviroment.
Hi Sykoo! I don't know if you will see this message but I just wanted to tell you thanks for all your content. I have been seeing your videos for a lot of time and finally today I started uploading a video creating a level on Unity with all what I have learned from you! Thanks for inspire me :)
screenspace can only reflect what the current frame sees. Not objects that are obscured or outside the camera frustrum. But still. RTX isn't just marketing. The current GPU's that come with it are just not worth it yet.
It's interior design that's why it looks so good. With same assets + ambient occlusion maps + shadows etc already baked from any 3d software with a render, you can reproduce safe effect everywhere.
Unity should focus on actually making a game and see the bottlenecks that Unity has, having amazing assets that will look amazing under pretty much any condition doesn't really shows anything more than skills in 3D modelling. It's not about graphics, it's about performance, UE for example can create LODs on import, unreal handles texture streaming/ instancing, light and occlusion culling, out of the box, and simply performs better on high end (That's one of the reasons of HDRP). I guess it's kinda unfair comparing UE to Unity since UE has been on the high end market for 20 years, but it's Unity the ones trying to compete showing off trailers that use external tools/not unity default (but it's what they have to do, since losing the monopoly they had being the to go engine for 3D indie developers). Unity was doing most of their money selling assets, that's part of it. But now the asset developers will have to target the HDRP or the "legacy" shaders, most of this stuff will get deprecated till we find a easy way to translate most shaders (that are used to make stuff look great in those).
I've also saw their 3D game kit, and that I think it's the way to go, something modular (like the approach of the engine), with generic functions and gameplay systems. And it was a little bit of a mess and unoptimized for something that is quite simple game. Book of the dead (for now) is a showcase throwing high quality assets and showing some of the volumetric lighting they have on HDRP (as well as some occlusion probes that are not in the engine yet). I don't see it as a game, just s showcase.
Unity's sales point is right now the increased quality of graphics to stay within the market alongside UE. While I agree it is not the most important for games, demos like this shows what the engine is capable of for end product on the graphics side. It's aimed more towards designers than developers. Regarding high-quality making 3D models; It is to show that the engine can handle the amount of detail that are required more and more by designers. No one would use the engine for games, if it only ran 13 frames a second because some designer exceeded the limit by simple details. Performance is important, but that is best simulated with physics demos not with static assets that you only can walk around without interacting with.
ruclips.net/video/BoREaOiEh9c/видео.html Great video from quixel showing the difference between Unity and Unreal, saying some stuff I've talked about here (well, it doesn't really talks much about light dithering and the errorprone unity occlusion. It's good knowing that Unity is trying to step up their game and not only cash in from assets (but kinda sad they are just doing this because UE4 went free to use). I do think that 2018 is a step up on the right direction, though it left some of us pedalling on air with the custom shaders we already had/bought. There's still a lot to improve though (LOD, culling, threading and lighting being priorities IMO).
This is REALLY good. Everything is good, Materials, Reflections, Texturing... but there's one thing. Not to sure if this is a dev problem or a engine problem... but the shadows really needs fixing, it kinda ruins the realistic feel and feels Photoshoped a little

developers do not care about making a game photorealistic like this demo, maybe because the job to make the textures looks realistic is really hard, and proper lights and shadows too
The reflections on the fridge are due to most likely a parallax-corrected local cubemap rather than screen-space reflections. You can see that the reflection of the black door persists even when the door is not visible on the screen.
I wonder why you keep calling yourself a Level Designer; across the industry a Level Designer mostly defines the flow of a level and implements the interaction, the game play (providing Game Design rules, developed interactive components, storytelling and environmental requirements or objectives, etc.) Then, mostly, the Level Artist makes it good looking, thus improving the overall experience if game play and environment communicate in a compelling way. What you do is typically the job of a Level Artist; and you are very good at it. But in no Level Design job description that I remember of, I saw first and foremost requirement for artistic skills.
Because I worked as a freelance level designer for large game projects a couple years ago. You can see them with a little bit of research. :) I know what level design implies, don't worry about it.
I would be interested in a timelapse real level design. The process of you creating a level that has different paths the player can take. Your take on how you design for that. Most timelapse level design videos I see on youtube, are not level design but instead environmental art timelapses.
To be honest, people think way too much that it's all on engine's back. All you need is a good computer to render and a good artist or assets, CryEngine, Unity and Unreal are 3 great engines that can handle a lot of beautiful graphics, if you have them..sure, but if you're starting go for Unity since its UI and documentation is more beginner friendly
It's not hard, but to start level design or programming, Unity is better because of the huge documentation and community, with this you'll get the hang of it. As a programmer I had to stay with Unity since I don't have money for a SSD and a good processor (In my country tech is expensive af because of taxes) so my compilation time for scripts is a shitload for a line change, sad life lol
Game Design and Game Development (if you mean Programming) are two different things. The required skill sets are not the same even though there are significant overlappings, and the tasks are definitely different. The engine plays basically no role for a Game Designer, who must be versatile enough and be able to tackle any user interface and tool. That said, whether you plan on working in the industry or being indie, you should not ignore mobile which is the main market; thus Unity seems the obvious choice.
Unreal can make even a cube and a plane look realistic if done right. With unity you have to do a crapload of work to get things photorealistic. Another thing is that unity can't handle extremely large maps lighting as well as unreal or at all in some cases.
And yet you can still tell that its unity due to the lighting and how the materials look in general. You can also immediately tell if something is unreal engine because its a little more grainy, especially around sudden light differences
*The problem with this and all other photoreal demos is everything is too clean. Nothing is this clean in real life even when new. Everything is better than brand new condition and very very clean.*
I expressed in a wrong way... what I mean is when he moves the view around, there are hiccups, I believe it has something to do with vsync perhaps or just that the mouse look is not very good. I don't know if this has something to do with the high quality of the graphics being too heavy to this kind of use, but I've seen many games running in 60fps and this weird effect doesn't happen. Again, I still think it's incredible what they've done with the graphics, too bad that this little bug happens when moving the camera.
The future of gaming legitimately excites me so much.. I was SO blown away by Red Dead Redemption 2 (like seriously impressed), which makes me Even MORE excited for whatever rockstar releases next. It will likely look similar to this video, regardless of what it is.
This si why i don't get the hate for unity. Oh unreal engine is better. idtech is better etc etc. Sure engines are important. But what's more important is the developers skill and ability.
Looks better than on UE4, cause UE4 graphics sucks, it is blurry as hell and Epic Games don't want to make it even a little bit better. Yes UE4 has better workflow but who cares if the engine can not give you the look and feel that you designed!
SwaggyKillzz I showed this to my family and they couldn't believe it wasn't a picture or a real life video. They're old I know but still I think that says a lot about how well this was made.

How do people do this? It took me like 2 hours to make a small undetailed desert
Hashir Ali ty I will try that
use more hours.
Spending more than 2 hours, trust me :D
oneiros channel how long did it take you
no one said it took them 2 hours :D they usually spend like weeks or even months to make it this perfect
I hope so muchhh the games in ps5 will look like this
realistic than real life
Who has no idea what he's talking about but love the house.
Amazing Graphics is better and better 🤗
In such demos but only not in real games
@@user-distantstar I know
This do that idea you said in the begin 🙏🏾💪🏾
Yep that's not too bad
daaaaaamn that looks so realistic woow speachless
thanks! :D
0:17 I have that painting at my house it's from ikea.
And yet you can still tell that its unity due to the lighting and how the materials look in general. You can also immediately tell if something is unreal engine because its a little more grainy, especially around sudden light differences
this looks too realistic. it's almost scary how real this looks. it would be wasted on a video game
haha! Thanks!
I hope my Unity work will going to look so good. Thank you for this video
*The problem with this and all other photoreal demos is everything is too clean. Nothing is this clean in real life even when new. Everything is better than brand new condition and very very clean.*
BLUR we made it
It's so realistic that my subconscious was trying to make my eyes focus onto the nearer objects.
the graphics are great, when still... but the framerate looks not that good... anyway, it's incredible what they've done
Hi Douglas, actually as you can see here a deeper fps test: bit.ly/2OMP1YC
oneiros channel thanks for the link, I'll check it out
um, its running 60 fps tho
I expressed in a wrong way... what I mean is when he moves the view around, there are hiccups, I believe it has something to do with vsync perhaps or just that the mouse look is not very good. I don't know if this has something to do with the high quality of the graphics being too heavy to this kind of use, but I've seen many games running in 60fps and this weird effect doesn't happen. Again, I still think it's incredible what they've done with the graphics, too bad that this little bug happens when moving the camera.
Yeah there are a lot of hiccups, can't imagine playing this is vr
It' looks so realistic perfectly balanced as all things should *be*
Uh oh! Sounds like someone's got the Unity and Unreal Engines mixed up again. lol
Seriously, though, that is indeed "insane".
Cant wait until games have real time graphics in entire open levels with this amount of realism and detail!
where can i download this demo? - Im asking for a friend.
We will release soon the PC Version on our new website, stay tuned!
Or you can buy straight the whole unity asset here: bit.ly/2Jj7bhy
Imagine a call of duty or seige map that looked this good
We do live in a simulation
Yup
Hi Sykoo !
too nice work with Unity 3d
thanks
WTFF ITS LIKE REALITY
The future of gaming legitimately excites me so much.. I was SO blown away by Red Dead Redemption 2 (like seriously impressed), which makes me Even MORE excited for whatever rockstar releases next. It will likely look similar to this video, regardless of what it is.
bro w t f i wanna live there
The power of unbiased rendering
Looks good except for the ivy.
The way plants move is so bad most of the time. It is so obvious.
ikr it's moving way too much too and he kept saying it was subtle...
I would love to see more videos like this.
#PEBBLES
Ya wanna know how you get better graphics? PEBBLES. ADD MORE PEBBLES. I ADDED PEBBLES, AND MY SCENES TURNED OUT JUST FINE!
WOah, this is amazing!!!
This si why i don't get the hate for unity. Oh unreal engine is better. idtech is better etc etc. Sure engines are important. But what's more important is the developers skill and ability.
ture
False. A game can only be as good as the engine allows, not the other way around.
i thought you were making an interior design showcase but damn id buy it even if its not real
Looks better than on UE4, cause UE4 graphics sucks, it is blurry as hell and Epic Games don't want to make it even a little bit better. Yes UE4 has better workflow but who cares if the engine can not give you the look and feel that you designed!
Looks awesome :)
Looks great, but still far from photo realistic
SwaggyKillzz I showed this to my family and they couldn't believe it wasn't a picture or a real life video. They're old I know but still I think that says a lot about how well this was made.
holy shit, this is trippy
