This video is just the beginning as we walk you through the build process front start to finish on swapping an LS in a TJ.
Love the video doing a 5.3 swap later this year just getting all the parts for mine. Just wanted to clarify that your front axle is a Dana 30 not a Dana 35. A Dana 35 is not a front axle in a Jeep and the Dana 44 in the tj besides the rubicon is a factory option and most TJs 4.0 or the 4 cylinder have the same axles. Dana 35 rear and Dana 30 front the 4cylinder was just geared higher due to its having less power
You are absolutely correct, i had went back and refreshed myself on these afterwards but it was too late to fix the video. The front axle along with brakes will be one of the next much needed upgrades after we get the swap done. Thanks again for subscribing and best of luck on your build!
I have a 2.5 4 cylinder in my jeep with the ax15(trash) I was planning on replacing the transmission with a nv3550 are you saying my axles will be alright? I'm just daily driving it on the street and maybe some back roads. @croppcars
@@abehemry5972 Thanks for subscribing! So you can build off of a 2.5 jeep but from what we have gathered it takes a lot more effort to do so. A lot of components need to be upgraded for reliability is what i'm told. I haven't done personally but from what i've seen is that most people with the 2.5 upgrade to a gm 4.3. We are actually in the works of replacing the NV3550 with a AX15 unit. Evidently the NV3550 is not really supported any more and most every one builds the AX15. They are basically the same externally and swap right out. I think you might be thinking of the AX5 that was found behind the 2.5, which is indeed rather week, i definitely would not put an LS in front of one of those.
Makes me cringe when people talk about Jeeps like they know what they're talking about, then give bad info. Axles are the same on the 4cyl and 6 cyl. Yes, a d44 can be had and the Rubicon has f/r. The only difference is the manual tranny on the older ones. The front axle is a d30, not a d35. Back to the Rubicon, the front D44 still has D30 outers.
Makes me cringe when people get bent out of shape over a simple technicality....🤣 but the fact still remains that he obviously knows what he is doing because he successfully swapped an lq9 into the jeep while keeping the 5-speed! 🤣🤣🤣 key board warriors.....
I’m curious how you lined up your ax15 shifter with the original hole. I’m finding that the hole is shifted a bit toward the passenger side. Did you just put the motor a little crooked? The Novak mounts seem to put the motor perfectly center.
Thanks for the input! This was an early video and we have come a long way with equipment and know how as you will see in later videos. Thanks for watching!

Yes I was mistaken I have the ax5 that's what I meant
Will I need to change out my axles
Finished mine and loving it
Did you do the 5.3 or 6.0? what did you use for trans/transfer case. I have a 5 speed i would like to swap to a GM
5.3 or 6.0
Thats going to be an awesome build! Can't wait to see it run!
About to start mine, targeting 5.3 but if I get a good deal I’ll do 6.0. Keep us posted!
That's awesome man, will do! We actually just posted our second episode on the build today. Many more to come every friday.
Awesome build thanks for the info I'm entertaining an ls swap in my 98 wrangler
Amazing videos guys! Just wish you were s little louder
Thanks! Yep we've been fighting that battle with back ground noise. As we grow we are working on getting better equipment both video and audio.
4.8 is flat top and 5.3 are dished. Unless you get the all aluminum HO 5.3 which has the flat top pistons of the 4.8 to help boost the compression.

We had to cut the hole as it moved forward a couple inches. But it was pretty well centered
How us the NV3550 holding up to the power of the 6.0 after a year
cool, can barely hear you talk and the music blows the speakers. relax on the editing bruh
