Nightingale looks very promising. Probably the one I'm looking forward to the most. As an aside, I'd be very surprised if "The Day Before" or "Dead Matter" ever see the light of day.

They've only put out a handful of crappy little games, most of them on mobile, and we're supposed to believe they're capable of making The Day Before. It's two devs w/ no money. I'm here for the content that youtube views as "too hot for tv!" lol. :) Dead Matter was almost released. They had a closed Alpha. I got to play it a bit. It was ok. Chugged like a champ on my system even on low graphics. Huge world, not much to see or do at the time. Then they prepared for a 2nd closed Alpha and scrapped it and started redesigning the game and then went dark.
6:38 when nightingale drops anybody want to make a home like in the Lovecraft story The Hound? A menagerie of occult artifacts and other things, decorated to look macabre and, we probably wouldn't be able to emulate it in game, but they would filter incense through their house with pipe systems. Maybe get the house slightly foggy? If you can visit other peoples' houses then you'll for sure be able to find the one I'll still make by myself
@@thegamerdudeabides Dune is the Grandfather of the RTS genre, even before Command and Conquer series. I remember playing Dune 2000 and Dune 2 way back in the day. Seeing a survival sandbox while not new, would be a nice breath of fresh air. Desert biome to me is grossly underused.
I'm all in for ARK 2, Nightingale, and very possibly Stalker (barring some irl world events coming to an end). But Pal World just hits wrong to me 😅 I can't NOT see Pokémon wielding machine guns and that creates a mental itch that I can't scratch ha ha! Great recap here, bro!

The only two survival games are Rooted and Smallworld. The rest are action games. True survival games don't include fighting zombies, weird monsters, or some sort of infected persons. There needs to be more games following The Long Dark's formula. That's an actual survival game.
These are my favorite type of videos for the survival series because this is my favorite genre... easily. Ark 2 looks so different, i'm not sure if i'm really excited for the game to come out. I didn't want the exact same game obviously but this might be so different that it bears no resemblence. I guess i'll see.
As someone who backed dead matter I will say it now, RED FLAG. They say things have changed and new talent brought in or something along the same lines. Then they campaign for a few months then go radio silent for a couple years then do it all over again. I seen this play out 3 times already. If your going to just wait no big, but do not give them any money for funding.
Yes, sure, lot of remakes for UE5 now. Still the same infected and zombies stuff. Fine for the lovers of such beasts, but it's becoming slightly old, at least at my opinion. Graphic in most looks pretty nice, and some of course seems promising. I'm curious what the next years will bring us, and if we will also see the birth of a new style/genre of any way. I would realy love to experiment again the trill i knew with some games, get immersed completely in a new experience, but maybe i simply played to much games over the years, and my mind is biased with the time. Waiting for Nightingale, but that's about it. A few of these titles feel like games I played the demos of or other versions of - not really new in other words. But hopefully the survival gaming community at large will find games that keep us surviving though 2023!
I've said it once and I'm going to say it again. My potato for a laptop would absolutely die trying to run most of these games, but they'll be worth it.

@@Edwinstewart88 Last Oasis has a directional melee combat system only, so no ranged handheld weapons. They also a mass amount of stationary artillery you could equip on your homes and vehicles they called Walkers.
Finally some new survival games! I’ve played through the last of us 2 four times, Days Gone 3 times, far cry 5 and 6, and I’m a GTA V online level 728…need something new to play! Lol
Dune might be the only one I like. Dune on DOS was my first RTS game, the only thing I'm worried about is that it's turning too much mainstream. They are bringing oldies back to today but that doesn't mean it's good.
Except the survival game has nothing whatsoever to do with the RTS and both are based on books that are much older than games, let alone these games, not to mention Dune is one of the most popular scifi stories/settings of all time, so I'm not sure what you mean with it going mainstream. It's never not been mainstream.
Well the mechanics of 3rd person only, and souls like combat in ARK 2 is what will keep me and a lot of gamers from buying the game. GG Studio Wildcard. I like first person and free combat in a survival game. These are the changes no one asked for.
Really looking forward to these up coming games 👍, I'm nearly 62 now and have been playing games since atari days lol, and I've played tons of the best games out there on all platforms and now currently on pc, problem with many of these games on pc is they don't support a controller and thats the only way I play be it flying, driving, shooting or anything els, and I can stand up to the best using a controller and hate using a darn mouse and keyboard lol👌, but I think all the games presented here will support a controller as they are consol games too, personally I prefer using a consol but they keep changing all the time and it becomes very expensive if you want to keep pace with new games so I figured that pc was the way to go but have been disappointed at some of the cool games I don't play because of no controler support, though I don't mind playing command and conquer point and click type games using the mouse and occasional keyboard, but what started out as a affordable way of entertainment has ended up a huge money making spree with all the added content that you must buy if you wanna play many games and that's a shame because when you buy a game you expect the full experience so it's becoming a rip off these days 👎
You might be right. Considering 2022's GOTY, you obviously don't need to create anything original to win. You don't even need to push any technical boundaries. There's some strong contenders here for 2023 :)
So, look into fractured veil. Still pre-early access, but 80 hours in and I’m still just as excited as they implement new updates and work with us as we test and play their wonderful world.
Rooted looks amazing, The Day Before also looks great, even SmalLand not being a game I would normally get into looks like it might get a try out, I'll have to see some other gameplay vids first to get more of a feel for it.

I really want "the day before" to be good, but there is ALOT of doubt about the company making it. Their track-record is less than stellar failing just after release or during alpha/beta testing. Games that was very much low budget games, way less complex and graphicly challenging compared to "the day before". The released "gameplay" clips looks very pre-produced. Latest i heard they where "hiring" volounteer workers to work unpaid on this massive projekt.
There's been another "gameplay" video drop recently, and it looks about as graphically polished as DayZ 😂 Basically, nobody should pre-order this or buy it on day 1.
Well one is since a lot of these are in the same category, employ similar mechanics and were most likely inspired by 7DTD. The Fun Pimps now have a lot of potential competition for the same audience that has been playing their alpha game for years now so the polish on 7DTD is definitely gonna need to improve, especially if some of these games actually launch in 1st quarter of 2023.

there's a reason top game dev havent made an open world, everything destroyable, every poi has stuff in it, random gen cities, solo or multi player with a storyline, traders with missions in those pois, npc 's and variable monsters to kill, weapons and vehicles, and all things customizable. it's too difficult in a reasonable timeframe to make it and be profitable.
i know Blight: Survival does not have a release date yet, but what are your thoughts on that game? It seems like a fresh-ish take on zombie survival since it's set in the medieval times.
Check out MetaIsland guys! It's a very interesting survival game and Its gameplay is very interesting. Players/survivors needs to participate, shooting fireworks, fighting monsters and more, in order to keep the island alive or else the game will reboot.

The Dune themed game really caught my attention. More games need to use desert themed biomes in my opinion.
Probably going to be an EA-style game. Microtransaction required for each grain of sand.

Well one is since a lot of these are in the same category, employ similar mechanics and were most likely inspired by 7DTD. The Fun Pimps now have a lot of potential competition for the same audience that has been playing their alpha game for years now so the polish on 7DTD is definitely gonna need to improve, especially if some of these games actually launch in 1st quarter of 2023.

Im really looking forward to Ark 2, Sons of the Forest, Rooted, The Day Before, Dead Matter if it ever comes and been waiting for Smalland for what seems like a lifetime.
there's a reason top game dev havent made an open world, everything destroyable, every poi has stuff in it, random gen cities, solo or multi player with a storyline, traders with missions in those pois, npc 's and variable monsters to kill, weapons and vehicles, and all things customizable. it's too difficult in a reasonable timeframe to make it and be profitable.
The forest is the pinnacle of survival games that i compare all others too. beautiful game and cant wait for Sons of the forest.....

i know Blight: Survival does not have a release date yet, but what are your thoughts on that game? It seems like a fresh-ish take on zombie survival since it's set in the medieval times.
I just added it to my wishlist, looks like it'll be worth checking out in the future!

Check out MetaIsland guys! It's a very interesting survival game and Its gameplay is very interesting. Players/survivors needs to participate, shooting fireworks, fighting monsters and more, in order to keep the island alive or else the game will reboot.
