  • The Encore of Garcia's big comeback show in Oakland after nearly dying (once again) a few months earlier...this is the same night Lance was all fucked up dressed as the 70's guy with hair and spit and crust all over his face in the parking lot....great night for the B's

    oh how i wish the entire show was available on YT...one of the best nights of my life. i remember everything crystal clear in spite of the copious amounts of psilocybin that were in my head. Kesey emceeing the costume contest winners (a couple that 'plugged into' each other to light up a 'welcome back Jerry' sign)...the crowd pop when he spoke to the crowd after 'How Sweet'...moments that could have only happened at that exact time in that exact place.
    still miss you, fat man...

    • @birdleso
      @birdleso 4 года назад +2

      The coma was in ‘86. This was when he was super weak and sick and needed to go into the hospital, took a long break , but he didn’t go into a coma again.

    • @TheTerrapinchris
      @TheTerrapinchris 4 года назад

      birdleso yah I called him at 4 seasons in DC -he(Jerry) told me- what happenned-my dad was a doc so i asked him if he needed anything- he said “no i have all kinds a shit” he said a filling came out in the midwest and they gave him a shot of pennecillin or antibiotic- it dehydrated him and that’s what more or less caused the coma- i had seen him being golf carted to stage @ RFK and was worried about him- it was over 100*

    Kahn must have went heavy during the pre encore break. 3 chord song on a bass that won't go out of tune if you throw it at a wall and he never gets it together in addition to not knowing that he isn't making sound. What a fun night that was. I think it was the last time I saw J having fun onstage, unfortunately.

I was driving home one day and out of the blue this came on. My mom teased me about this song. The dead doing wolf's of London. They put that on for me to let me know they are here. Ill never forget. Now i love it. Chicago

Our son was only 10 mo's. & we had a jerry-o-lantern with a 'photo-likeness of jerry carving. People were freakin' on that when they came outta the show. It was nice to be around on yet another close call comeback for the master. "Ah-oooooh....and his hair was(nt) perfekkt!...

    Interesting from a historical note to see Garcia on any video (as opposed to just audio)--thanks so much for posting. Unfortunately, by '92 Garcia's playing was already at times weak and "disinterested". I think he tended to play more consistently well in the JGB configuration (as opposed to the Grateful Dead) after 1990. Also by 1992, Jerry was most likely already suffering from early congestive heart failure (not officially diagnosed until 1993) making it increasingly difficult for him to travel on the road, much less to physically play guitar night after night. He gave us so many great years of joy and musical magic...even in his off years...The Fat Man Rocks! God Bless.
