He had it listed that he didnt really take apprentices. Im disappointed now that I didn’t try anyway because he is a great teacher and seems to want to teach
Thank you Billy. I know you get this all the time, but I need to be grateful for you being the person who inspired me to enter the world of welding and fabrication. I was lost in my teenage years( didn't knew what to do with my life), now I own a shop, making an excellent way of living with it, helping my community and being a mentor to the youth.
So great to read. Jesse & I were talking about this recently, about how many have told us that we inspired them. It’s really a remarkable blessing, to be considered an inspiration. When we were doing TV shows 20 years ago, that wasn’t even on our radar. We were just trying to survive & succeed in a brutal industry. What a nice comment to read. Congratulations on your success, and bravo for paying it forward.
I just want to say thank you for all your videos and how you explain what you doing. Im currently building a 77 shovelhead. Hardtail long fork chopper. Its probably my last build as i have stage 4 cancer. Its taking everything i have to build this bike. Without your videos i dont think this build would be where it is from the stuff i e learned but also just being able to watch your videos on my bad days has really helped me more then i can say. So thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Billy from the first time I saw Blue on TV she’s what I imagine when ever a hear the word Chopper. To me she is what a chopper is supposed to be and look like. You take care and stay safe bud.
I agree with ya blue is a rad bike I’d ride it till the wheels fall off and rebuild it do it all again till the day I die… would be pull all than bagger riders girls all day long lol

I’ve been watching you do your thing since I was 12 back in the early 2000s watching biker build off and you still literally make me want to get up mid video and go out in my shop to work, as you’ve always done. Those are the videos the world needs, motivation feeds on curiosity and man, knowledge is its best friend. Keep being the artist you are, my friend. Afew months ago, I jumped outta bed & screamed to my wife: "Billy Lane lives here..BILLY LANE LIVES HERE!" She just looked at me crazy..lol. I was away awhile, but I'm saving for an Evo to replace the Shovel I lost back in 2011. Lucian Hamilton. Franklin, TN.

The coolness of your builds are how you blend simplistic lines and curves into forms with depth, which are visually appealing. Definitely, signature style of your own. This tank is a signature example. Those handlebars are the coolest I've ever seen. This bike is going to be epic Billy Lane.

I filmed a whole sequence on metal thickness, filler rod, & starting the puddle, but it was 25 minutes edited. It made this video too long. I'll include it in another video later.
That blues chopper is so sick it flows so nice its not to loud or out there bike its just enough custom stuff I was trying to see that gas tank on the bike you were working has a real unique shape

This is simple construction, but not easy to do. I did it without using a planishing hammer or shaping wheel. Fit & finish is key. This was four hours of video that I edited down to 40 minutes. Hours of fitting to get it right, but anyone with patience & the ability to see a tig puddle can do it.

Yes We have very tight tolerances. A very high standard for sure. I have watched You since the first Biker Build Off & have bin a big fan of Your style & fab work. I really get a kick out of the Son's Of Speed stuff as well. I will be down there sooner rather than latter to enjoy a race at New Smyrna for sure. Keep up on all the content, it's all great imo. 🤟😎
Very cool man. I dig your vision and way of doing things old school. You are a craftsman who can make things with his hands, I respect that more than a guy who just buys parts and bolts them on. Peace be with you Billy.
another great presentation , AHH the eighties an nineties , i like SU's we used to make homemade manifolds and fit them to our flathead 45's sometimes , in ozzi we didnt have many v8 cars the old cars were straight six { a smaller blue flame six } , so we ran tripple SU's , but bein young blokes and jack of all trades but master of none we had constant battles with them , but we got those old 50's n 60's GM holdens takin off in a shower of shi**t we were pretty pleased with ourselves , cheers big ears from down under
After watching you form a tank over your knee in one of the build offs I was inspired to get the hood off of a 70s Cadillac and use that metal to do the same for a tank. I salvaged the Chrome strip down the center for a chrome strip on the tank.
Thank you. the engine and gearbox will be mostly blacked-out, but the blower & carb will remain polished. It had an S&S Super G on it, which is a great carb- but not very appealing.
Billy I have followed your career ever since I discovered you on Biker build of I've always loved your builds I really dig what you do have even owned one of your bikes many many years ago got it from the guy you built it for cause he was in a financial jam with the deal he could buy it back when he was straight and I honored that just love your bikes but listen no offense have never been a fan of your tanks there to abstract for me but in all cases the rest of the bike is so badass I overlooked them but never have digged them...God Bless my friend!!!
I get it. I had to make a large tank for this because of the blower. It's difficult to achieve good aesthetics and balance with a big tank. I'd run a Frisco Sportster tank if I didn't have to feed that Roots Blower.
Awesome project, so much learned from watching your videos but so many more questions. I want to make the bobzilla tank for my 97 softtail project but unsure how to mount it and size to measure out for a good fit on the backbone. Suggestions?

Yes We have very tight tolerances. A very high standard for sure. I have watched You since the first Biker Build Off & have bin a big fan of Your style & fab work. I really get a kick out of the Son's Of Speed stuff as well. I will be down there sooner rather than latter to enjoy a race at New Smyrna for sure. Keep up on all the content, it's all great imo. 🤟😎
Greeat to see you still building bikes
You are a true artist Billy Lane!
I'm not into bikes as much these days, but Billy's teaching and fabrication videos inspire me as a Harmonica player, teacher and artist.
Great artist, great educator and great filmer. !!
Thank you, God bless these iPhones
You have an eye for such things! The tank has an organic look to it....
Very cool man. I dig your vision and way of doing things old school. You are a craftsman who can make things with his hands, I respect that more than a guy who just buys parts and bolts them on. Peace be with you Billy.
another great presentation , AHH the eighties an nineties , i like SU's we used to make homemade manifolds and fit them to our flathead 45's sometimes , in ozzi we didnt have many v8 cars the old cars were straight six { a smaller blue flame six } , so we ran tripple SU's , but bein young blokes and jack of all trades but master of none we had constant battles with them , but we got those old 50's n 60's GM holdens takin off in a shower of shi**t we were pretty pleased with ourselves , cheers big ears from down under
You can always count on Mr. Lane to build some crazy choppers. 👌👌👌👌👌
This one is going to be a show stopper
KUDO'S brother... flashBAAACK to 93'... boom... Ta DA! Appreciate the time you spent for THIS PINNACLE BUILD!
Respectfully, Seth
Love the tutorial Billy!
After watching you form a tank over your knee in one of the build offs I was inspired to get the hood off of a 70s Cadillac and use that metal to do the same for a tank. I salvaged the Chrome strip down the center for a chrome strip on the tank.
Awesome when someone tries something they've seen me do.
Thanks for sharing BILLY
Thanks for watching
Good to see Blow updates!
Great to seeing you do what you do best.
Thanks for watching
Here I am in snowy Finland watching you makeing amazing bikes and dreaming of riding my Sporty 😊 well spring time is coming, hopefully 😂
We have 350 days of Summer in Florida. But I do like snow. Enjoy these videos until your riding season returns.
That bike is looking awesome love your work
That's an awesome bike, can't wait to see it when it's done.... that carb is a beauty
Thank you. the engine and gearbox will be mostly blacked-out, but the blower & carb will remain polished.
God gave you a special gift in what you do
Great attention to detail !! Super Interesting !
Glad you find it so. Thank you
Awesome project, so much learned from watching your videos but so many more questions. I want to make the bobzilla tank for my 97 softtail project but unsure how to mount it and size to measure out for a good fit on the backbone. Suggestions?
Man i love the look of that bike
Thanks man , thats your legacy
