I AM SO GLAD Billy is on here dispensing his vast knowledge to us all these years later - i doubt there is anyone better on youtube at explaining and showing how things are done - THIS IS GOLD
Yes. All the discovery channel type shows eventually get turned into scripted bits or family drama - ala the Tuttles (which actually stressed me out, my own childhood memories of screaming matches 😆)... It's refreshing to just learn about and watch the project at hand.
I feel the same way about my first build that I still ride almost everyday. Lil Wing a 1977 rigid Ironhead that is my all time favorite bike. Lots of cool miles. Love your channel Billy. A fan of yours and Larry for over 20 years.
I love your videos, because you actually show yourself working on the bike. It's not edited so that it looks easy or clean. I work on my motorcycle all the time and it can be a pain in the ass, and messy. As a former avionics technician on F/A-18 Hornets, I really enjoy your professionalism dealing with the electrical components.
Thank you for taking the time to share these thoughts. Before I began making RUclips videos, I searched around to see what was being watched, & was surprised at how contrived much of the content appears to be. I want to continue to make relevant, genuine, helpful videos for you.
It does my heart good to see electrical instruction videos where NO shortcuts are taken! Far too many people who decide to educate the world through a YT video will use a couple of crimp-on butt connectors and call that good. Not Mr. Lane! Not only using solder, but staggering the connectors is very smart. Way too many cars or bikes have melted and burned up their wiring harness from two butt connectors, side by side, positive and ground, then half a$$ed wrapped in black tape, and after some rough roads, not to mention all the vibrations, then it's not if, but WHEN they come apart from a simple crimp, there goes the wiring harness, if not starting a fire and burning your ride down. Billy is showing how it truly needs to be done!
Keep the wisdom coming, Billy!! Thank you I’m going to remember the two hammers and how you splice in wires. When someone with experience takes the time to show you the right way to do something you’re a fool if you don’t pay attention! Great work on the bike I’m glad you still have it.
What a Gift it was Billy to hear you say "" it also rectifyies the alternating current to dc current because it creates ac current that has to be converted to dc current """ . countless tymes ive explained this simple fact that the rectifyier is not just a voltage regulator . Thanks a Ton !!! great work !!!
Never, EVER stop being you my man! Loving your content here and the many trips down memory "Billy" LANE.... I'm so ecstatic that I stumbled upon you're channel here recently. Subscribe? You goddamn know it!.......
Well Said I think all of us all enjoy The easy going humble Billy Lane from what 20 year ago I know I did I watched all these shows I now have a garage fully of bikes ! When I stumble across Billy's channel I was thrilled ! So glad to see! And honestly I can relate to Billy's dark times and I know what it's like I have all the respect for Billy Lane and nothing else !
Billy, I have been a fan for many years. I like these new video's you are doing showing all the stuff it takes to build a bike and keep them going. The stuff we never saw on Biker Build-off. Welcome back brother.
Love watching these episodes more entertaining and interesting than most other series out there! Motorcycles never get old and neither does Billy Thank you 🙏🏻
Loving the garage time and stories with you Billy, thank you for spending the time sharing both with us. I hope to see you and Blue rolling through the Spearfish!
Hey Billy really love BLUE! This is the first time I've seen it. 72 is a real special year for me to. I graduated from HIGH school in 72. I joined your channel about a month ago. Can't wait to see more. Indian Larry is PROUD Of you, that's for sure!
Nice memories billy !!! Your a good dude , your a hell of a mechanic, fabricator, artist !! But your love and passion for what you do is what makes everything come together !! Keep wrenching and building I'll keep watching much respect & and admiration for what you do BRO!!👍👍👍👌👌👌
Billy, I still have The Biker Build Off Tape With You And Larry!! I miss those Days!!! I had several. Shovels back in 80s and 90s!! Enjoyed this very much!!!
Bro I sure hope I get an opportunity to meet u. I started watching your videos to learn how to work on my own bikes. But the more I watch the more I feel like u are a down to earth genuine dude. And in my 58 yrs on this earth I haven’t met many. Thanks for all the good info. It’s helped me a lot. Maybe one day own paths will cross and I can tell u thank u in person. Safe travels bro.
every time I watch you I remember 20 years ago when I used to work in a bike shop and watched you on Discovery Channel. Back then people had so much common sense and real knowledge of bikes, always loved Indian Larry also and how down to earth and basic and sooo talented....I still work on my own bikes, and can relate to how you actually KNOW how it works, make fixing easier and cheaper when you understand how the systems of a motorcycle actually work. Thanks for the great videos !!!
Billy your channel is quickly becoming my favourite on RUclips! It's awesome watching you work a relive old stories! It really takes me back to the days seeing guys like you a Jesse in the chopper mags!
I was watching this just thinking about the old show where you were talking about a friend murdered. Then you brought it up on this show. I guess I really did watch a lot of those old biker shows. These Utube shows you do are a thousand times better than those old shows…
I used to love watching you build bikes on Biker Build Off, your bikes have such a nice style, stance and proportions!Rather than use two hammers, I use a knurled 3 inch long piece of 1 inch brass bar. It doesn’t leave any witness marks and it’s small enough to get in tight spaces to be used to tap awkward items.
Billy, I think these videos are a lot better than the TV shows.... The biker craze in the late 90s was a real good time, but your current videos are more real. You are a cool guy. Your videos are entertaining, and the bikes are the shit! Thanks for your time, maybe our paths will cross out there
I'm 25 and I remember his biker build off where he built the candy apple red bike, can't remember the name of it save my life, also remember the orange bike that hand the exhaust going out under the rear fender that lit him on fire, and also the kick start bike with the chain drive he did with Indian Larry, biker build off and motorcycle mania was my childhood makes me happy to see them on RUclips, so much nostalgia seeing all if them
Awesome Tech Advice For sure !!! But My Favorite part of this video is when he shared his Nostalgic moment's with us about his History of Hard Work And Family And How Blue came to be Born and Built for George ...R.I.P ...These were Priceless Moment's...Thanks for sharing some of your Deep Personal History with us Billy !!!! Much Respect!!!!! See you next weekend at Greensboro N.C. at the Full Throttle Magazine Bike Show Jan 13th 2024...Yeah !!!! Can't wait to see what your going to be bringing to the show!
Please do not stop talking about how things work. It really sets your channel apart. When I was a kid I literally learned all my mechanical basics from the "How things work" column Hot Rod magazine did in the 1990's. My mechanic knowledge is exclusively cars. I've learned more in the past 2 months about Harleys than I ever knew. Hell after your one video I'd feel pretty comfortable lowering a softtail. Also i LOVE you work on bikes that are being ridden and used not trailer queens. love seeing the wear and tear
Hi from the Isle of Man, Billy. Really enjoying the videos. Learning a lot. Makes me feel more confident about maintaining my 78 Shovel and 95 Evo. Thank you.
Billy, so glad your doing what you do. Thanks for sharing. I miss the shop on us1 near eugalle . I lived on Sarno road at the train track. 10 min walk from your shop. Ride safe at Sturgis. Bam bam
Me being a gear head and builder of drag cars, I think the explaining is cool and the history is great. I use to say if I live past 35 I've lived a long full life because like you said, it was a different time and a different lifestyle.
I love watching this stuff for the technical stuff so the fact that you take the time to explain everything you’re doing and why you’re doing it is awesome!
I’m glad I found your channel I love this kind of stuff and and the little tricks like using 2 hammers are simple but very smart. It’s nice watching someone who knows what they are doing.
I would straight up pay for a broke part coming off Blue, as a souvenir. This bike inspired my first build and many years of fabrication after. It was great to meet you at your shop in Melbourne. Thanks, Billy.
I am so glad you’re back Watching this video just inspires me to do more. Also I learn so much from you when you explain everything and do the work yourself. There are so many people on RUclips building bikes nowadays have their own shops and they don’t even ride.
Can’t say thank you enough Mr. Lane!!! Decades of experience with an edge my brother, very much appreciated. Please keep ‘em coming - one ‘95 BadBoy owner to another ✌🏼
I’ve been working on bikes, cars, and trucks for 40 years, but I still learn something every time from your insightful and thorough commentary in these videos. Thank you! You’ve matured so much since the Biker Build Off days, but you’re still super cool and uniquely creative. Indian Larry would be proud.
Interesting and fun video. Thanks. I used to love Biker Build-Off. But this is better in a way. Less drama and better explaining. And remembering days gone by 👍👍
Cooking damn good for 50 years old. I can tell you that and I absolutely love the knockoff that is such a key feature on the back of that wheel. I love it! I remember those even when people used to make knockoffs of them like on regular trucks or whatnot back in the day when I was a little kid. I always love that. For some reason I would even put them in my drawings lolllllol
I love to learn from you and other builders. It’s these real world stuff that’s important. I would rather watch these kind of videos rather than a “build”. I love the technical stuff! 👍
You are truly my favorite motorcycle builder, your attention to detail is excellent, and watching this in conjunction with you taking about Biker Build Off brings back so many memories. And I've always told people most amazing bike builder is Billy Lane.
Crazy to look back and think about what we were doing at that time in the past. I was a young child in probably elementary school watching biker build off with my father and remember both of us just in awe at the hubless bike. I remember the whole lotta Rosie bike with the triple chain primary that was eating your pant legs and the time your bike caught on fire on the road too haha. You’ve got quite a few years on me but you were actually the guy who got me interested in mechanical engineering. Love seeing you still working on stuff man.
Great story...Alot of us feel inspired by this man's capabilities... I lived very close to Chopperz Ink when it was here in Melbourne..Quite da shop...Was Kool knowing Billy!!
I miss the biker build off series from early 2000s. Indian Larry & old school guys were great craftsman. Billy is an innovator & I'm glad to see he's back @ it!
Your 'How To' videos are excellent ... very informative with many great tips and 'tricks' that you've found yourself over years of tearing down and building bikes and motors back up ... Great channel for both content and information

I wish I could build a bike with him.
For what it’s worth I like when you explain the technical stuff. Also, really enjoying your videos so keep it up and I know this channel will grow.
same
Yes. All the discovery channel type shows eventually get turned into scripted bits or family drama - ala the Tuttles (which actually stressed me out, my own childhood memories of screaming matches 😆)... It's refreshing to just learn about and watch the project at hand.
You the man Billy
Exactly
me too. all the tech stuff is exactly what I want to hear.
I feel the same way about my first build that I still ride almost everyday. Lil Wing a 1977 rigid Ironhead that is my all time favorite bike. Lots of cool miles. Love your channel Billy. A fan of yours and Larry for over 20 years.
Indian larry is a legend. And Billy too, his old pant eater triple chain drive was so cool looking.
Keep the videos coming billy you are a legend. Your mechanical skills are amazing
Billy is a genius and by far my favorite builder.
I just celebrated 45 years of riding. Lots of memories
I love your videos, because you actually show yourself working on the bike. It's not edited so that it looks easy or clean. I work on my motorcycle all the time and it can be a pain in the ass, and messy. Thanks for the great videos. Reminds me of those days before the internet too.
Time sure does fly!
This is GOLD! Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. It is appreciated more than you know!
I never get packages
Love these videos with the commentary. I want more of these.
Still rocking my dad's 81 fxwg 🤘 Billy the living legend Lane on a chop. Just like 20 years ago. Damn time flys

its so cool to watch you work on these bikes in your shop, no music or TV drama just building and fixing.
Had the "fun" of changing my stator on my 97 fxd last summer. Thank God for impacts! Glad to see you're back at it Billy!!
Keep the wisdom coming, Billy!! Thank you I’m going to remember the two hammers and how you splice in wires. When someone with experience takes the time to show you the right way to do something you’re a fool if you don’t pay attention! Great work on the bike I’m glad you still have it.
Man this bike brings back memories....The Blue Death Trap
This bike has always been one of my favorites. So pure chopper.
Never apologize for explaining things correctly . Love your work
What a Gift it was Billy to hear you say "" it also rectifyies the alternating current to dc current because it creates ac current that has to be converted to dc current """ . countless tymes ive explained this simple fact that the rectifyier is not just a voltage regulator . Thanks a Ton !!! great work !!!
I appreciated the technical talk and explaining parts of the bike. I learned from this video. I'd watch more like this.

That's awesome to go back and think on memories Billy, I was probably 9 years old when you put that together. Thanks for sharing!
For me it's much more enjoyable to learn about when it is NOT my bike. I am glad he made this video. It's full of stuff I needed to know!
You learn something every day. This is my favourite bike. Essentials only.

Man I was just a little boy watching bike build offs when I first knew who you was I’ve been a fan every since
Really informative and the way you explain every step is very cool, you build outstanding bikes!
I used to love watching you build bikes on Biker Build Off, your bikes have such a nice style, stance and proportions!Rather than use two hammers, I use a knurled 3 inch long piece of 1 inch brass bar. I sure miss the biker build off series too.Good to see a real craftsman explaining things for us common folk!
I like the way you explain how the alternator works and why, besides how to install a new one. Well done
Billy, I think these videos are a lot better than the TV shows.... The biker craze in the late 90s was a real good time, but your current videos are more real. You are a cool guy. Your videos are entertaining, and the bikes are the shit!

I liked the little bit of memory lane , thank you for sharing.
It's so awesome to see someone else using the west coast choppers tools. They are my primary tools still after all these years.
I'm 25 and I remember his biker build off where he built the candy apple red bike, can't remember the name of it save my life, also remember the orange bike that hand the exhaust going out under the rear fender that lit him on fire, and also the kick start bike with the chain drive he did with Indian Larry, biker build off and motorcycle mania was my childhood makes me happy to see them on RUclips, so much nostalgia seeing all if them
Dude I’m a painter and I’ve learned more in 3 minutes of this vid than I’ve learned on my own thanks I’m your age loved your bikes since you started
Your videos are awesome and the way you explain all that your doing. What you did today I had to do on my 2000 electra glide. Keep the videos coming.

Thanks for the great video Billy, you explained everything so well. love the story and the front end of blue is beautiful.
It's amazing listening to you explain everything, especially the technical stuff
Thank you. I’ve been doing this so long, it’s second nature to me
@@BillyLaneChoppers been watching you since the early 2000s, you built the baddest choppers on earth
I really enjoyed this video, there are times that even those of us with a lot of miles beneath us, and a lot of years behind us forget...
I love to learn from you and other builders. It’s these real world stuff that’s important. I would rather watch these kind of videos rather than a “build”. I love the technical stuff! 👍
Somethings cool and timeless never look dated!!! That's one Badass Chop and a Shovel too which is my favourite!!
These detailed videos are pure gold!
You are truly my favorite motorcycle builder, your attention to detail is excellent, and watching this in conjunction with you taking about Biker Build Off brings back so many memories. And I've always told people most amazing bike builder is Billy Lane.
I actually had no idea how a motorcycle charging system worked. I appreciate the technical explanation.
I lived very close to Chopperz Ink when it was here in Melbourne..Quite da shop...Was Kool knowing Billy!!
always a fan of Billy lane his bikes and his personality are top notch
As other people have mentioned I like when you talk the technical shit that's how I learn stuff I appreciate it thanks for the video take care.
Thanks for all the videos Billy ,I'm learning a lot of good stuff.
Also love technology. Ur awesome at explaining billy. Thanks brother.
I miss the biker build off series from early 2000s. Indian Larry & old school guys were great craftsman. Billy is an innovator & I'm glad to see he's back @ it!
Best 30 minutes I spend this week!
Thanks for sharing Blue’s story!
Your 'How To' videos are excellent ... very informative with many great tips and 'tricks' that you've found yourself over years of tearing down and building bikes and motors back up
... Great channel for both content and information
I remember this bike from back in the day! Always was a cool looking and sounding machine. Great to see it still running and maintained.
Keep living the life , love your posts, learn something everytime . I have my first Harley now and can't think of ever letting it go. Your knowledge is fantastic. Just glade you are willing to pass some of that down to the rest of us.
